Day 2 Spring, Ondina/Weilan, 295 words, Rating G
Spring was always such a nice season. The world was beginning a new, waking up after winter. Fresh growths of flowers, all the blossoms showing their beautiful flowers. The weather was nice but without the intense hustle and bustle of the summer holiday time.
Weilan had been waiting patiently, okay incredibly impatiently, for Spring to come and bring out the Cherry Blossoms so she could take Ondina to one of her favourite land spots. Guncan Park. The lake, the blossoms and not to mention the Cherry Blossom Festival. Her Grandmother always took her once they had been forced onto land and it become a highlight of young Weilan's springtime fun.
Ondina in typical Ondina-fashion had grumped the whole way on the train, the Mermaid still not yet used to the intense land presence in the bigger city and the rush of the public transport system. She was too used to swimming everywhere she needed to be.
Weilan nodded along to Ondina's complaints all the while her earplugs drowned out the worst of it.
Thankfully the complaints faded on Ondina's first look of the park with its hundreds of Cherry Blossoms, the soft pink petals in full bloom.
"Almost as pretty as you," Weilan slipped an arm around Ondina's waist and pulled the other mermaid into her.
"Hey!" Ondina's cheeks uncharacteristically flushed. Weilan could almost see the fight play out on Ondina's face whether to push back or lean in. She almost missed the decision, too focused on the one stay curl falling over Ondina's forehead as the other mermaid slipped a hand up onto her neck and leaned in.
Weilan met Ondina's lips in a kiss right under the Cherry Blossom, the soft pink petals of spring matching the blooming of love between the pair.
