Day 17 Harmony, Sirena/Carly, 271 words Rating G
Carly had waited with baited breath once Sirena returned from her holiday to see what would happen about her singing gig. It was Sirena's originally. David had only started music nights to sing with Sirena. Carly just got lucky that Sirena left for a while and Cam encouraged David to take a chance on her.
"Why don't we both sing?" Sirena had cheerfully suggested, blonde ponytail bouncing as she flashed Carly a truly amazing smile that instantly made Carly's stomach flutter in what they affectionately call 'gay panic.'
"Um sure yeah, I'm good if David is?" Carly only just managed to stutter out the sentence. She could feel her cheeks flushing. This was her best friend's girlfriend. And she herself had a boyfriend. This was not the time to start getting a crush on Sirena.
"Sounds awesome! What are we thinking, some solos, some duets? Or maybe try them all together?"
"How about a mix? We have a rehearsal later and figure things out?"
"I can't wait."
Carly heard her own voice melding with Sirena's and the Mermaid's song made her think of Sirens and long blonde hair floating in the endless blue.
As the last note rang out, their voices a perfect harmony, Carly swore to savour the feeling of musical euphoria as long as she could.
The cafe around them broke into applause. Carly barely heard David speaking but she felt Sirena take her hand.
"That was so good!" Sirena hugged her tight.
"We sounded pretty good didn't we?"
That night Carly dreamed of Mermaids and songs and a Mermaid with long blonde hair kissing her under the waves.
