Back in New York, it was now morning, and Peter and Matt made it to Chikara Dojo, where they knew their friend Daniel Rand would spend most of his days. When they made it to the door, they turned the knob and saw it was unlocked. That still made them a little nervous so they started to look around.
"Anyone here? Danny?" Peter called as he entered the room. "Colleen?"
Colleen Wing came from the bedroom area of her home and saw the two of them. "Matt? Peter?"
"Colleen. Hey." Peter greeted her as he looked around. "Is Danny here? We need to talk to him."
"Uh, yeah, I'll go get him," Colleen said as she walked into the back room again. "Danny?"
Peter and Matt wandered around the dojo area and couldn't help but feel something was off. Peter didn't feel his senses alerting him of anything, but that was mostly due to the fact there was no physical danger in the area. But they both knew something wasn't right. It was too quiet. And in New York, that was saying a lot.
"Hey." Danny Rand entered the room. "What's going on? From Colleen, it sounded urgent."
But before either of them could speak, something was definitely off. "Matt, quick question: how many heartbeats are in this area?"
"Counting ours?" Matt started to listen closely for any nearby hearts. "Three."
Peter then started to slowly approach Danny. "And Colleen?"
"Can't find her," Matt commented, removing his glasses. "And I have a feeling I know why."
Danny sighed as he saw he had been caught. "You can't stop us. You must realize that by now."
Danny then went to fight, but Peter didn't even hesitate as he grabbed Danny by the throat and smashed his head against the wall, causing a small fracture in the wall. That was enough to cause the Skrull to change back into his true form, ending with Peter still choking him.
"What did you do to them?" Peter demanded him.
"The Immortal Iron Fist and the Lady Samurai are ours." The Skrull proclaimed, chuckling. "And so is the Unbreakable Man."
"You got Luke?" Matt was shocked to hear.
Peter wondered how they could have gotten close to Luke, but then he knew the one person they had to get close to was Claire. "They must have used her identity to get close."
"And now...all we need is the woman. And we will have our only threat." The Skrull proclaimed as he then bit his tongue, followed by a shock to his head, and they watched as his body went limp.
Peter let his neck go and watched the body collapse to the ground. Matt and Peter eyed one another and wondered what would come next. That was when they heard running from upstairs, and Peter's senses went off.
"Oh, god." Both of them whispered.
The door was broken down, and several very angry tenants charged in, seeming to be looking for a fight. "I have a feeling this anger isn't about rent control." Peter quipped.
Matt didn't respond as he got ready for a fight and he punched the first one that came running at them. A few of them came in with either swords or guns and fired upon them, causing them to duck for cover behind the pedestals in the area.
"Human guns?" Peter sounded a little upset. "Come on, can't we get something more sci-fi related? A blaster maybe?"
"Can we not sound upset they don't have stronger weapons?" Matt asks Peter. "Any word of our friend?"
"Give it a minute," Peter said as he waited a moment.
Then there was a flash of lightning that filled the room, followed by the sound of whooshing and grunting. When everything went quiet, the two of them emerged from their hiding place, realizing that all of the Skrulls had been knocked out and Barry was standing there, looking down at the ground. It seems that when they were knocked out, something strange activated and killed them.
Seems these Skrulls don't allow prisoners.
Then why didn't the same thing happen to Joe when they knocked him out? That was a question for later.
"All of these people are Skrulls?" Barry asks in shock. "How many people have they taken?"
"Too many," Peter stated as he came out of hiding. "Nice last-minute rescue."
"This happens a lot?" Matt asks.
"Too many times." Peter sighed as he realized they hadn't met. "Right. Sorry. Uh, Barry Allen, this is my friend, Matthew Murdock. Matt, this is my friend, Barry."
"Hi," Matt said as he reached his hand to shake Barry's. "Nice to meet you."
"Pleasure." Barry guessed. "Who's this?"
"Well, he's a friend who I think can help. Also, he's Daredevil." Peter explained.
Barry was shocked when he looked at the man he guessed was blind considering he wasn't looking at Barry, and more staring off somewhere else. "This guy?"
"I know, hard to believe." Matt sighed.
"Okay, well, in other news, we need you to get back to Central City and round up our friends. We need to get to Jessica's and get everyone who can't defend themselves out of the city. They know everything about us at this point."
Barry saw this was escalating quickly and nodded. "Alright, I will get them out as fast as I can. I'll be back when I'm done."
And with that, he sped off, making Peter realize what he did. "Wait! Drop us off...and he's gone."
"Got money for a cab?" Matt asks.
Peter sighed as he rubbed his head in anger. "Yeah."
Back in Central City, Iris was working on her laptop at Joe's house, not knowing what was going on. The door opened and she looked to see Wally walk into the room in fright. Iris was worried when she saw her brother was frantically looking everywhere.
"Wally, what's wrong?" Iris questioned her brother.
"We've gotta go," Wally said as he grabbed his jacket off the couch. "Pack a bag, don't tell anyone we're leaving."
"What? Leaving?" Iris was seriously confused now. "Wally, what's happening?"
"We're being hunted," Wally explained quickly as he grabbed a suitcase from the closet. "Look, I don't know how to say this, but... Dad's been replaced by an alien shapeshifter."
Iris let out a laugh, expecting this to be some sort of stupid joke, but she saw Wally was keeping a straight face and stopped laughing. "Wait, are you serious?"
"Yes. We don't know how long, or where he is, but Barry is going to look into it. He asked me to get you out of the city before they come looking for you." Wally explained as he grabbed another bag for her. "Come on, we gotta get going."
"Alright, alright, I'll get ready," Iris promised.
Wally then made his way upstairs while Iris looked around to make sure the area was secure. She then reached down and picked up a piece of the floor that was hiding some strange-looking device that she reached and placed to her ear.
"They're moving me." She warned whoever was on the other end. She looked up the stairs to make sure that Wally wouldn't come back. "I don't know where, but I'll keep you updated when we arrive."
"Before you get taken away, you need to get to their base." The Skrull on the other end tells her. "It's time to intact plan Alpha."
"Yes, my queen," Iris whispered before placing the device in her pocket.
Jessica Jones, private eye, was making her way to her apartment after stepping out for a moment to get some food. She groaned at her elevator shaking and sounding like it was three seconds from breaking down. She just took it as she waited for the door to open. Once it did, she was surprised to see Matt Murdock and Peter Parker outside of her doorway.
"Whatever you want, I'm not buying." Jessica quipped as she approached the door.
"Oh well, at least we know she's still herself," Matt commented.
"You expected me to be someone else?" Jessica asked as she approached her door.
"Uh, well, something like that," Peter admitted to her. "Jessica, look, we need your help."
"Help?" Jessica was confused. "What trouble did you get into?"
"It's something more serious than that," Matt replies.
"Alien shapeshifters are invading." Peter recapped everything.
Jessica didn't even show any sort of surprise or concern. "Of course they are."
"Look, Jess, we're trying to put a team of people that they could possibly go after. They're after anyone with connections or powers, and we're just worried you'll be next." Peter explained.
"I can take care of myself," Jessica replied.
"Jess, these guys can look like anyone. Pretend to be anyone. You'd be looking over your shoulder forever." Matt warned her. "They already have Danny and Luke, we need to work together."
Jessica sighed and saw that they were taking this seriously and she could help them. The faster it was over with, the faster she could go back to normal. "Give me a minute, I'll be back." She then opened her place and started to walk around, grabbing a few essentials she was going to need to be forced to leave. She picked up a few other things when her phone started to go off. She sighed when she saw it was an unknown number and just answered it. "Look, we're closed. Call back in a few days."
"Jessica?" Peter's voice exited the phone, causing Jessica to freeze in shock. "Oh, thank god. Look, me and Matt are on our way over, we gotta talk to you. Something big is going down."
Jessica looked out the window of her apartment and saw Peter and Matt weren't on their phones and were even talking amongst themselves. "Uh, let me guess...alien shapeshifters are here and are hunting down everyone who can stop them?"
Peter was surprised when he heard that and turned to Matt, who happened to overhear everything that she said. "That's... exactly right. How'd you guess?"
"Because you and Matt just told me," Jessica said as she kept her eyes on the two people outside of the apartment.
Peter and Matt froze when they heard that and knew that must mean that Skrulls had taken their faces so they could get to Jessica first. "Okay, Jessica, those people there are fakes. They are Skrulls. You need to take them out."
"Wait, how does she know that we aren't the Skrulls and we are only telling her this so she can fight the other ones, and they are really the real versions of us?" Peter asks Matt.
Jessica followed about half of what he said until she came to the decision. "Okay, that's really you idiots."
"What makes you think that?" Peter wonders.
"Because only you idiots would want me to believe that you are really the alien shapeshifters and the two on my doorstep are the real deal." Jessica sighed. "How far are you guys from my place?"
The cab just happened to stop right outside of Jessica's apartment when she asked this. "Uh, we are right outside." He then figured that Jessica needed some backup to deal with the imposters. "Okay, well, look, we'll be up in a second. You live on the third floor, so I can take the elevator, and Matt can take the stairwell. We know that's his thing."
"My thing?" Matt questioned.
"Oh, come on Matt, you ran up like twenty flights of stairs instead of taking the elevator," Peter replied as he turned away from the window of the cab to face Matt. "From there-"
But then they heard what sounded like shattering glass coming from the apartment complex outside. They turned to hear sounds like screams as they watched what looked like almost exact copies of themselves falling from the third-floor window and falling splat on the sidewalk. Both of them weren't sure what to say or even do at that moment. The chaos was causing a small crowd to scream and back off from the sight of the two humans shifting into dead green aliens.
Jessica then exited her apartment building and strolled past the two dead aliens before entering the taxi cab with the two of them. She tossed her bag on top of Peter, who was frozen in surprise and scared of the woman. Yet again, that is the normal reaction when it comes to him and Jessica.
"So, who else do we have on this team of ours?" Jessica asks him.
"Uh..." Peter wasn't sure what to say. "We have a few listers out."
From there, the entire group started to finally come together while meeting up at National City where they were summoned to the facility that was apparently titled the Department of Extra-normal Operations. Made to protect the world from extraterrestrial threats like aliens and stuff like that that comes from the stars rather than Earth itself. The Skrull that was disguised as Joe was being taken to an interrogation room for the heroes to finally question him as they all came together. Caitlin and Cisco were putting together a lab for themselves and the rest of the team, putting together gadgets that they could use with Felicity helping with the computer gadgets.
"Wow, this is... a big operation," Barry commented as he strolled into the main room.
"Well, with everything going on, let's say that we are glad to have the resources," Oliver stated as he walked inside. "Where's Peter?"
"Should be arriving soon," Sara said as she entered the room in her Canary attire. "Ray sent a jet to pick them up in New York a few hours ago."
"Sara." Oliver was happy to see her. "How have you been?"
"Was doing better until learning people I know might be alien shapeshifters," Sara stated.
"Oh, hey, look, everyone is here," Peter said as he, Matt, and Jessica Jones finally arrived. "Well, where's Ray and Mari?"
"No, no, I got that." Ray was calling to a few guys who were moving his ATOM suit around the room. "That's- I don't let people move that."
"So, this is us?" Jessica asked. "The world is doomed."
"Wow, you are going to be fun to have on the team." A voice said, causing them to look and see, Lyla, Alex Danvers and someone most of them didn't recognize. She was wearing a strange outfit that was a complete suit that included black gloves and boots, with a yellow stomach and a mask that appeared to be separate from the main suit and went over her long black hair. "Hey, everyone."
"Guys, meet Agent Jessica Drew. Spider-Woman." Lyla introduces them.
Peter seemed to be the only one who recognized her on a personal level. "Jess?"
"What?" Jones asked.
"No, sorry, not you. Her." Peter explained as he stepped forward with a smile as he and Jessica shared a hug. "Oh, I can't believe it. I haven't seen you since college."
"Yeah, I know, it's been too long." Drew agrees as she pats Peter on the back. "Look at you."
"Me? You look great." Peter complimented. "But Spider-Woman? Should I lawyer up?" He then pointed backward to Matt. "Because I have one of those."
"Not happening," Matt replied to that one.
"I mean, I made it out of your ideas," Drew explained as she gestured to her outfit. "I just changed it up so as to stand out on my own."
"Okay, but how did this..happen?" Peter wonders.
"Let's just say when you're moving a vial of spider venom experimented on by a scientist that was confiscated because he's insane, make two trips," Drew explained how this happened.
"How do...you two know each other?" Barry wonders.
"Jess and I were friends in college," Peter explained.
"We also went out," Drew admitted. "Well, not exactly. He went out with my roommate Harleen. I went out with Ronnie, and we sorta set them up."
"Yeah, something like that," Peter admitted. "It didn't work out between them, but we hit it off as friends."
"Agent Drew is the head on most things to do with Skrulls and has made a few gadgets that we need for you all to wear," Alex explained as a cart of what looked to be watches was brought towards them. "Agent?"
"Right," Drew said as she placed the watch on her own wrist. "We developed these watches to help us identify Skrulls." She then activated the watch and it did a small hum before shutting down. "It has been tested on what we could find from Skrulls between their blood or remains. We have only just got our hands on a living Skrull thanks to the Joe West one we now have."
Peter grabbed one of the watches and looked it over in interest. "Wow, should introduce your guys to Cisco and Caitlin later."
"Who are they?" Drew wonders.
"Some friends of mine from Star Labs," Peter explained to her. "So, what do we do?"
"We're starting with interrogating our guest," Drew said as she gestured to the cameras being set up around the Joe West Skrull. "You guys ready for some answers?"
But there were a few things they didn't realize. Felicity was in the room looking down at the crew as they were gathering together. She was starting to put together her plan by using her tech skills to hack into their watches so they wouldn't work properly. She needed to keep them running in circles until the time was right.
