Hello all! Welcome back! Here's one I'm very excited to show you, as many of you probably know, one of my favorite relationships to write is Neptune and Peashy, and here was a perfect opportunity to do just that! I hope you all enjoy!
"Hello people of Planeptune!" A suave and boisterous voice called out to the massive crowd that had gathered in the center of Planeptune's capital city, responding to their goddess' call, the crowd erupted into cheers,
"They really do love you sis" Beside Purple Heart, Purple Sister chuckled to herself,
"It's only natural, they'll one day love you just as much," Purple Heart explained, and at the same time, Purple Heart cleared her throat as she continued her speech. And, something very unlike her was happening at the same time. She could feel her heartbeat in her throat, her hands clammy and slightly quivering.
When was the last time Purple Heart was nervous? Well… she just couldn't help it. This announcement wasn't just any other announcement for Planeptune. This was deeply personal. Something about her, she didn't know if she could bear it if her people didn't support her choice.
With some effort, Purple Heart opened her mouth once more, "Now, I'm sure most of you are wondering why I gathered you all" She postulated to the crowd, and she could garner the sense of agreement from the crowd, "Well the truth of the matter is, I have someone very special to introduce you to!" She declared to the crowd, which could only feel its excitement growing to almost palpable levels,
Turning her back to the crowd, Purple Heart closed her eyes as she let out a deep breath. This was it. There was no turning back now. Not that she ever had a choice; as soon as she had met her, their fates became sealed, intertwined. She would deal with whatever consequences resulted from it.
"Sis?" Purple Sister beside her seemed to be able to pick up on the trepidation in her dear sisters soul at the moment, solidifying her own resolve, she looked her sister in the eyes, "They'll love Peashy" she reassured, as Purple Heart let a small smile form on her face,
"I'll hold you to that, Nepgear" She laughed, before turning slightly off stage, "Get over here, P-ko" she told the young blonde who soon beamed up with excitement, this was her big moment! She and Neptuna had gone over this dozens of times! Running onto stage and eventually planting herself on her spot next to Purple Heart, she proudly put her hands on her hips,
"People of Planeptune, it is my true joy to introduce you too… my daughter. Peashy!" She declared as she presented her hand to the young blonde next to her, "I hope you all learn to love her as much as I do! My lovely little P-ko!" She smiled as she finished her declaration.
And for a moment. There was silence. And for a moment, Purple Heart didn't know what to feel. What if her people rejected her daughter? She couldn't abandon P-ko. No. Never again. She would not fail her again…
But then, if almost on cue, to ease their goddess' aching heart, the crowd erupted in cheers, and yells of adoration emanated from the crowd. Yells of how cute Purple Heart's daughter was. Through these, some yells of questions poked through the crowd, and as if waiting to hear one specific question, eventually she heard-
"So does that make her a goddess too!?" A voice yelled out, as Purple Heart nodded,
"A fair question! Why don't we answer them, P-ko!" Purple Heart answered as she turned towards the blonde, "Show them, show them Yellow Heart" She kindly smiled to Peashy, who returned with a wide, toothy grin of her own,
"Ok! Traaannsssssfoooorrrrrmmmm!" She yelled, as soon, a bright, brilliant light enveloped the plaza, gasps of wonder soon being exchanged, as the small Peashy was replaced by the awe inspiring figure of Yellow Heart. "It's Yellow Heart!" She proudly declared as the crowd roared its fiercest roar yet, and as planned prior, Purple Heart looked over, extending her hand, as Yellow Heart took it, the mother and daughter duo soon taking to the skies, dazzling and amazing the crowd with their coordinated movements.
Throughout it. Neptune couldn't feel happier. Her people seemed to be allowing her little girl to take a spot in their hearts. And for this, she could not be more grateful. But… as she surely knew prior. No plan goes off without a hitch.
Scrolling through the N-Gear that Nepgear had painstakingly taught her niece how to use, Peashy soon halted. An article sticking out to her.
Lady Purple Heart is not telling us everything about her so called 'daughter'
Read the article's title, and almost immediately Peashy didn't like something about this. Neptuna never lied to her. Why would anyone call her a liar? And as she scrolled through the article, most of the words didn't really mean anything to the young girl, who was still working diligently with Historie to learn how to read properly, but… one phrase was one she certainly could read…
This 'Peashy' is not Lady Purple Heart's daughter.
It read in plain english. Peashy certainly knew what those words meant. Accompanying the sentence was a picture of Yellow Heart standing next to Purple Heart and Purple Sister, her Yellow hair highlighted next to their shades of purple. For some reason, Peashy couldn't figure out why, this put something in her heart reading it.
She was Neptuna's daughter… she was sure of it. Neptuna always protected her. She was always there. She always would be, she even promised as much to her. She always told her how much she was loved, she tucked her in at night. She always had. She couldn't remember a time without Neptuna.
So why did it hurt so bad to have someone accuse her of not being such? Racking her brain, she played back all the other mother and daughter pairs she had seen. They all seemed to act the same as her and Neptuna… so why didn't they get accused of not being mother and daughter. What was different… looking back at the article, Peashy gasped, before clutching a strand of her blonde hair…
Mothers and daughters looked alike…
But…
She didn't look like Neptuna
Feeling her lip starting to quiver, she felt some tears start welling up in her eyes. Why? Why had Neptuna lied to her? Balling her fist to her sides, she sniffled up the snot running down her nose, somehow missing the sound of footsteps behind her, only realizing as she heard words call out,
"P-ko!?" Was the voice of her so-called 'mother', "P-ko!? What's wrong!?" Neptune soon responded rushing over, when was the last time she saw her P-ko crying?
Whipping her head around, Peashy glared at the purple haired woman with a teary gaze, "You lied to me Neptuna! You lied! You… lied…" She yelled before feeling herself start sobbing even more,
"P-ko…" Neptune hated this. "What did I lie-" Neptune couldn't even finish before Peashy pointed an accusatory finger at her,
"Why did you lie about being my mother!" She yelled her accusation, as Neptune felt her eyes widen, a pit forming in her heart,
"P-ko… why do you think I lied about that?" Neptune softly replied,
"All the other daughters look like their mothers! But look!" Peashy declared as she showed Neptune the article she had been reading, a snarl forming on her face. Whoever this writer was was going to receive a letter in the mail from Planeptune's basilicom. Looking for the name, she soon discovered it was some no name schmuck. She was almost expecting a certain gilded robot, but in fairness, he hadn't written any negative articles about Neptune's little reveal… actually his were a little too positive…
Focusing back at the matter at hand, Neptune felt a shadow cover her eyes. She didn't know what to do. But looking at the hurt and confused look on her precious little girl's face. She figured. She had no other choice. She was going to have to tell her the truth one day anyway.
"P-ko. Please just listen to me all the way through, ok? Can you promise me that?" Neptune softly and calmly asked her, as Peashy felt something in her heart, when was the last time Neptuna took a tone like this? Her heart was telling her… to trust Neptuna. To hear her out. Seeing a nod from the small blonde, Neptune gave her a small smile as she ruffled her hair. "Thank you, P-ko. I'll buy you some pudding later…" She offered, as she took a deep breath.
"It's true. You're not my biological daughter. In the proper definition of mother, I am not your mother" Neptune explained with some sadness, and despite her earlier assumption being proven correct, somehow, Peashy still remained calm enough to listen to Neptune. Something about how she sounded almost sadder than Peashy herself made her reassured…
"But… your actual parents. They… didn't want you. You were left in the care of the basilicom since when you were a young infant. Before you could even form full sentences…" Neptune explained, gritting her teeth as she balled her fists, "How could they just abandon their own child!?"
Looking up, Peashy was almost mystified. Neptuna was… crying.
"Why are you crying, Neptuna?" Her heart… what was it telling her now?
"Because… I know it's selfish…" Gripping her heart, Neptune looked at the girl she called her daughter, "But I raised you! Why shouldn't I get to call you my daughter!? I know you aren't physically related to me but…" Neptune took a deep breath, before she squatted down to Peashy's level, "There's more to it than that, I think. P-ko… if you saw a citizen being attacked by a monster, what would you do?" She asked, as this garnered an almost immediate response,
"I'd give it a Pea punch!" She declared as Neptune smiled a brilliant smile, wiping her tears away,
"See. That's how I know you're my daughter. You have my heart." She declared as she pointed at Peashy's sternum, "Under there, you have that big heart of yours. You make me so proud. The way only a daughter can. Even if you have too much energy sometimes, at the end of the day. You want to protect everyone" Neptune explained, as Peashy's eyes widened.
Her… heart…
Her heart. Was that it? What was her heart telling her?
It told her to trust Neptuna.
It told her she loved Neptuna.
It told her… it told her…
"MOMMMY!" She yelled as she threw herself onto Neptune, gripping her as hard as she could.
It really was that obvious. And for that. Neither could be happier.
Isn't it just so sweet? Anyway.
