This planet is one of the few habitable worlds in the Badlands and has some unusual stuff to it. One of the most notable to anyone who glances at it's history is that it was unaffected much during the Star Leagues invasion by virtue that the SLDF found it was not worth going into the badlands to attack one or two planets that were in there. Thus not much has actually changed on this world aside form it becoming more isolated as time went on.

This world had on and off contact with the Concordate and retained loyalty to it until the Concordate withdrew from the Dummassas system and was only given a message that they had been given their independence but nothing else. Normally this would worry most worlds but this one took it as they acquired this by earning favor with the Concordate's "Protector."

The world is be all accounts surprisingly habitable with a population of around 3 to 10 million. Their is no accurate census on the planet due to their is little way to gain an accurate account of the total planetary population. But you can gain at least regional populations in certain areas. Alot of this is due to that most of the technology of this world is from the 1660's. Although strangely enough they still have long range communications for not just space but planetary communications as well. Just nothing for out of their system.

Their government is based on a matriarchy rule. While Males do have high ranks their is a limit to how far they can go and the rulers of the Royal families in their regions are strictly females or high ranking females in the royal families. The Royal Families serve the High Queen (currently Elizabith Sa Sha Obolensky) who currently controls the planet.

Due to how important the females are this world also has it that only the Royalty is able to use battlemechs similar to how royalty reflects high ranking knights. The Idea of knights and Mechwarriors in this world is essentially the same thing. Their is a grueling training regiment to pick out the best of the Royal family who wants to be a mech warrior for the mechs in their family. Most families have only one mech but some with the most sway have up to 2. This world has currently 14 battlemechs on it.

These battlemechs by decree of the High Queen has deemed it forbidden to desecrate the power and importance of these mechs in anything deemed a skirmish between families. However war games and practice matches are pretty common with the battlemechs in the families. This is due to the competition the families have with each other every one wants to show the other who is better or who has more mechs, the better husband, who has the most power, the one with more favor to the High Queen, who has dominated in the latest skirmish and so on. These displays normally doesn't achieve much other than annoy the looser though. But it's turned into a tradition of trying to out due the other.

War games and duels usually use either simulated ammunition or large paint rounds. This leaves a lot of mess to clean up but essentially leave the battlemechs mostly undamaged. This has preserved the Mechs they have for a surprisingly long time. And the mech techs are oddly skilled at their job at keeping the battle mechs in top shape.

As far as skill wise for the mechwarriors their somewhat above average but nothing really of note or anything that stands out. Their in very good practice with using their battle mechs with the duels and war games. But nothing really that stands them out from anything. The biggest things that come out of the war games is the prestige of who was the winner, and the tend to rub this in the face of the looser as well as uses this as political leverage.

Ethnicity:

Eastern European. Ukrainian and Lithuanian.

Climate:

Temperate.

Geography:

The Terrain is pretty varied but for the most part you will see planes and forests in most inhabited areas.

Military:

The standing military on the planet besides the battlemechs are the cavalry, Dragoons, and Musketeers. Just about everyone from any military branch in this world carries muskets and special armor. Rifles and autocannons are not seen at all due to a lack of any knowledge on how to make one.

The Cavalry is what you would expect horse riders who have not only armored themselves and their horses. They also carry a Musket axe. It's basically a muskets with a axe attachment to the muzzle which as it turns out to be surprisingly effective in close quarters or in charges. The musket can be used in two ways solid show or another type of ammo that can turn the musket into a essentially a single fire shot gun.

Dragoons are basically pike wielding food soldiers. They tend to carry pikes and halberds with armor as well. Not much else to say about them. Aside for their very disciplined and very hard to cause them to panic even under the most extreme circumstances.

The Musketeers are just as the name is basically long range rifle men trained to fire their muskets at a range in volley fire in formations or in cover and such. Don't underestimate the formation fire it is formidable and they aren't strictly limited to formation firing they will break off quickly and into cover and even in predug trenches if it's deemed that their at a disadvantage fighting in a formation.

The armor is like this and has some unusual quirks to it due to the nature it was made with a the way the metal was shaped and forged and the cloth was treated with heat and chemicals.

This armor does give good protection to most thing although it's still not as good as most modern armor however their is one major odd quirk this armor has due to the way it was treated and it's pretty surprising. This armor is actually resistant to recoilless rifle fire It isn't' immune and will fail with repeated fire but it is actually able to resist a few hits from a recoilless rifle. Most people when seeing this are at a loss to how it can do this when slower moving projectiles can still penetrate the armor but the faster the projectile harder it is to penetrate the armor. However unfortunately way to craft armor doesn't scale up well as it looses all it's quirk when you make it battle mech size.

Planet wise they for the most part have a major stick up their butts. Their very ridged to how their hierarchy goes to the point you can explain any other system to them and it would just go over their heads. Even the lowest ranked individual would have trouble understanding what your talking about if you talk about democracy or anything other than a Nobel hierarchy. And the entire planet is uniform ally so ridged in this they view any agreements or loyalties they have to be always valid and a form of honor and pride and boasting about keeping. This comes even to a point with their alliances.

Currently they have an agreement with the Pirate haven to give them food stuffs and supplies to it in return for not only not being attacked by pirates and for the pirates to keep other pirates away but they are also honor bound to leap to the defense of pirate haven if it comes under attack. However some restrictions also comes with this as well they have no requirements that says they have to help any pirate groups in their system or give pirates what they want. And the only way to get them to head over to pirate haven to protect it would be if they received a request by the current leader of Pirate Haven. If not they are free to ignore it mainly due to the possibility of them being used by a rival of the Pirate haven leader.

As far as the Dummassas union is concerned it's a bit of a question as to weather they are still part of it or not due to the concordat gave them their freedom but even though they have no contact with anyone from the union and by any normal means they should consider themselves fully independent. They aren't sure if their still a vassal under the Union or now. Since they haven't received word on this yet by them the people on the planet figure eventually someone would let them know. This is both due to the rigidity and how rare it is for contact outside the Badlands is for this planet. Thus the entire Nobility just pushed this possible future problem's responsibility off to the future.

The Houses:

Their are many different houses on the planet each with varying levels of power and influence. it would be impossible to name them but here are several of note. The 3 strongest houses of note due to them not only have 2 battle mechs each piloted by the crown princesses and the current head of the houses Nobel guard and they also have sizable armies and territories. Their known as Tartal, Afify, and Vozenilek. These three families don't get along well due to how close they are in influence with the High Queen. It should be of note that oddly enough the head of these houses are known as queens outside of the planet but their title is simply High Ladyship to anyone on the planet. Which causes some confusion as to when you have the High Queen and a High Ladyship in the same place with outsiders.

It should also be noted that the High Queens Heir traditionally pilots a Mackie. This is some sort of reverence to it due to being the first battlemech type despite it's faults and this one rarely if ever sees any form of action other than a parade or show of arms or even a royal procession. But at best it just performs a roll of something akin to a crown Jewel.

House Tartal:

Is known for being the strongest military wise due to it's vast armies and having come out the winner in the last 10 skirmishes against the other two houses.

The Mech pilots they have is the current crown princess of her house piloting one of the mechs known as a very fierce and temperamental warrior...and called the Volcano by the other mech warriors on the planet. She's known for solving most problems but either hitting or shooting it repeatedly. The 2nd mech pilot is her body guard and head of the houses Nobel guard. She's effectively her princess's teacher/infrastructure much to her own dismay at how the princess values the bruit force approach to solve anything and everything even social issues. And she even spoke to the High Lady that her daughter would rather punch out a delegate than calmly maneuver though a subject.

The High lady is known as a strategic genius on the world (however that's as far as it stretches she herself have little experience in off world wars and she knows it) She always flaunts the fact that her armies are far larger than any other house and she enjoys the looks she gets when she rubs this fact into the other High Ladies faces.

House Afify:

Is arguably the 2nd strongest but it's very debatable. They tend to have the strongest trade relationships with the other houses as well as more contact with off world shipping with the pirates at Pirate haven as they have control of the only space port on the planet. It's not used much aside from getting off world goods and shipping stuff to the haven but off world goods are in high demand due to it's rarity.

Military wise the house is pretty formidable with large numbers of well equipped and motivated soldiers as well as 2 battle mechs. These two are piloted also by a crowned princess but the other is piloted by the Princesses selected champion. No one in any houses has any idea what that means and the house hasn't explained it. No one is really sure what the champion title is meant for. However the champion is known as a former Ladyless knight who was brought into the house after distinguishing herself in the battlefield. The Princess just like her family tends to be very sharp and has an eye for weaknesses and always looking to exploit it with trade or even in the pilot seat. Her Champion is very different due to this one focuses more on defense and seems to try to maximize her ability to protect herself and her charge, the High Princess.

The house tends to use it's trade influence and riches as a way to get ahead and to flaunt itself over the other houses especially with showing or wearing any of the goods shipped from off world.

House Vozenilek:

Is considered the most elegante house. While yes it tends to make itself very extravagance it's called that due to they have the largest numbers of craftsmen and artisans. Just about any gear or items they have tends to be of the highest qualities possible on the world. This house also have 2 battlemechs One unusual thing about this though is the pilots instead of one High princess there are 2 twin princesses. Their are a lot of rumors about the two due to them being twins like their beauty and regal bearing and how their both basically two parts of the same whole. And while yes it's true the two do a lot similar to them and talk at the same time when talking to others. This is actually an act the two have practiced for a very long time for their own amusement. While the two outside have a regal bearing the two are actually very much pranksters and tricksters always enjoying keeping enemies and allies on their toes and nervous with what they do. The two are very close and you don't seem them apart even when piloting mechs but their very good at knowing how the other acts so they are known well for their teamwork in duels or Wargames. The House interestingly enough has a pair of Urbanmechs.

Military wise their essentially on equal footing with the others although their also debatable with being number 2 in power. Just like the others they have formidable armies.

After this the other High tier houses and also very formidable bearing vast lands and armies however most usually have 1 mech per house.

Mid Level Houses:

Most mid houses are still formidable but smaller and tend to even form alliances at times as well. Class wise the type of mech and if a mid has one tends to very wildly. Their are even some houses in the mid tier that don't have mechs but boast armies or have rare resources. Or even centers of learning and anything they can have a solid edge for their house.

Low Tier houses:

Their are non of the weaker or low tier houses that have battle mechs of any kind. The only anomaly to this rule is house Featheringham. The Strongest of the Weakest houses. Due to these houses normally have no battlemechs and have the smallest territories and are normally considered barely worthy of not to most of the other houses due to the lack of battle mechs. With the exception for House Featheringham.

House Featheringham:

Was once a fairly powerful high tier house due to it having an actual Cyclops. Unfortunately the Cyclop was crippled/destroyed in a duel, and due no one was able to find the proper spare parts even with aid from the local pirates to restore the mech to functionality. This it was unable to be used ever again. This is what also Caused the High Queen to give the rules to extent the longevity of her people's battlemechs. The Cyclops had lost several critical components including the engine, gyro, left arm, the computer systems, and half it's weapons. People said it was lucky the Princess at that time survived and that. Currently the mech is still in the house's only mech bay and is now serving as a museum. This is an even that most houses who do any meetings with Featheringham they will point it out as a cheap shot.

The lose of the mech caused such a loss in prestige the house literally fell fully to the lowest ranks due to that single stain in it's history despite all the other resources at it's disposal. None of the high tier houses even associated with that house anymore. And even most mid tier houses has lost respect for Featheringham.

With the drastic weakness in the houses standing currently it has a unique situation with it's size and power it's able to act like a useful intermediary between mid tier and lower houses. Currently their trying to build a power base economically to gain enough influence with other houses to get into the mid tier of the houses.

The lowest Tier houses are the weakest and normally either small due to bad luck or their in isolated places in houses that are relatively new. It's hard to say if anything is common with them other than most lack prestige or have not gained any. Although the lowest and weakens of these houses has gained somethings of note from the other houses due to it's attempts to gain prestige to pull itself out of being the wakes of the houses.

House Kleinhaus:

This is the weakest of the houses and thus has the least respect and prestige. Usually the easiest to give a cheap shot and unable to retaliate in any way due to how weak it is. It has the smallest territory and known as the poorest of the houses. Due to the situation this house doesn't keep much of a military due to they can't afford to keep a full force and they wouldn't be able to create a military force big enough to actually combat of the other houses. This house due to it's willingness to do nearly anything to gain any form of respect has gained a reputation of being shady and untrustworthy. However in their situation they are not exactly willing to double cross anyone that made deals with simply because they can't afford to loose any more prestige. However this house has been looking for anything to increase it's prestige with many attempts to marry off the house's prince's to other houses but failing. This now causes the house to look for commoners with skills to marry the princess off to to gain prestige and this has had some mixed results at times.

(Interesting thing of note it's not uncommon for prince's to be married to a commoner especially if the commoner is famous or has some exceptional skill for the house to boast over)

(Notable Events)

The High Queen or a High Lady had the power to call what's known as a Royal Ball. While it's explanation is simple it also has a lot more to it. This is usually a means of bringing the leaders of every house together with some ranking personnel to one place so they can discuss important matters or share updates with the high queen, see who has earned more prestige, as well as conduct deals between the different houses. At rare times the High Queen will give actual orders to the entire or several houses. While it's not rare for a Royal Ball to occur it's rare for the High Queen to gather them to give orders to every Royal this would require something extremely important and unique to happen.

A smaller group of royals can be called together without the High queen which is called a Gala. it's essentially the same thing but it doesn't involve all the houses so it's more private and less chance of spying. But either way this is essentially a diplomatic meeting with everyone under the guise of a party. It's not often visited by outsiders not due to being uninvited but due to it's a way for the Queens to try to establish marriage alliances at times if they have a prince they think is handsome enough they could gain favor with another house or to show off just how handsome the Queens son is to the others. This has on occasion caused an accidental marriage or two to happen. With a visiting member of the local pirate faction who due to having no idea of what he was doing found himself engaged to two house princesses. This wouldn't be bad normally but both were currently engaged in a series of large skirmishes lately and thus instead of the two calmly discussing and simply canceling the marriage due to the mistake both viewed the Pirate as something the other wanted and they wanted to have him just to show how better she was to the other thus he found himself a trophy in a paintball simulated mech duel.

The Total number of Royal houses is around 30 to 50. It's hard to get a exact estimate usually due to the further reached houses have some trouble keeping in contact with other houses especially the weaker ones.

(One thing of note gaining military achievements is also a way of gaining prestige so it could be possible for a house to mercenary out forces. This can be useful due to the house is mostly only looking to gain something they can boast over or have something they can elevate their house over other houses and rib the other houses face in it. It results in a somewhat cheap force to hire at times if you can contact a house willing to do it cheaply.)

Exports:

The Major exports varies and most trade is done though the Pirates. The trade is mostly food and raw minerals as well as the odd armor that this world can make. It's somewhat popular with pirates but due to this armor has a bit or a niche in protection this has caused a somewhat of a limit in it's use.
