Here's the edited version, though I would like the keep the non-canon version up just in case and because half the point of this little idea was that it was something spawned in both the IS and the Koprulu sector
Junkyard Challenge
Of all the entertainment that was spawned by the arrival of Raynors Raiders into the Inner sphere/ periphery, only one can claim to be a show that by all accounts should have been a thing decades ago if not centuries. That being a show where two or more teams of people are given a pile of scrap, with the aim to produce a machine that can perform a specific task. Ranging from a simple crane to build as large a tower as possible to making a full mech to fight in an arena.
The origin of this, however would not in fact be in deliberate attempt at making a show but in truth a naturally accruing incident on the planet Dumassas that as fortune would have it was recorded.
The incident itself started when a group of locals started to complain that the raiders were wasting what they considered perfectly viable mech parts that the raider's engineers considered to be only useful for recycling. This confrontation ended when Rory Swann, the raider's head engineer, intervened and told the Dumassas group that if they could use the parts to make a functional mech by the end of the day then they were welcome to the pile.
Whitin the next 12 hours the group not only managed to put together a Franenmech but also to pilot it out of the junkyard much to the horror and disgust of Rory Swann. The footage of this was captured by both the security cameras of the scrap yard and thanks to an unknown person was edited and released onto the public data net.
the footage would then go into the wider Inner sphere/ periphery to inspire the other powers to produce their own shows the most prominent being the combine who have a well earn reputation of having the best salvaging crews. Even Dumassas would produce their own version of it much to the frustration of the Raider engineers.
Rory Swann: I will kill who the Barstad who released that footage
Gabriel Tosh: … that worked way better than I ever thought it would...
