Episode 2:
The Pallet Townies
Lance is enjoying his ride on Marvins Pidgeot. Marvin is proud to have Lance on his journey, he says to the boy "hold on, we are about land" Pidgeot flies down, aiming like a bullet, she stops and spreads her wings. Pidgeot lands safely. Lance and Dratini both look at the town, they are amazed by the whole place. A pedestrian walks over to Marvin, he says "dude, you gotta stop landing like that" feeling irritated at Marvin. Marvin responds "don't make me take down that Tangela of yours again!" The Pedestrian walks away before he could do anything to Marvin. Marvin looks at Lance and Dratini "Welcome to Pallet Town!"
Pallet Town:
Lance and Dratini look around with astonishment. They had no idea this small town would be pretty huge. Mavin returns Pidgeot back into her Pokeball "good girl Pidgeot" he says putting her back. He looks at Lance "come on, let me take you to Professor Oaks place" he says with a smile.
Professor Oaks Lab - Outside
A young teenager trains his Charmeleon, he battles against a girl and her Poliwag. Poliwag has the type advantage but the Experienced Charmeleon has the upperhand, finishing off with a Flamethrower. Poliwag falls down with spirals in her eyes. The girl falls to her knees "I had the advantage! Why? How did I lose?" She says, to her failed pokemon. The young teenager goes over to her, he says "it doesn't have to do either type advantage or power. It has to do with how to raise, love, and care for your Pokémon. Including the battle experience the Pokémon has. That's why my Charmeleon took your Poliwag down." The young teen pets his Pokémons head. The girl grabs her Poliwag and runs away. The young man looks to see both Marvin and Lance. "It's been a while Mido!" Marvin says to him. Mido responds "I'm finally up to your height Marv. Now you can't call me a shorty!" He then looks at Lance "who's this guy?" He asks him. Marvin introduces Lance to Mido "this is Lance, he comes from Blackthorn City up in the Johto Region!" Mido is surprised "woah! A dragon type trainer?" Lance smiles, but he doesn't feel that special "it's only my second day as one…" he says to Mido. Mido smirks "second day? Well, you got a lot to learn if you're gonna be here!" he says, teasing him. "Now now, he doesn't need any of that" Marvin asks Mido "is your dad home?" Mido responds "he just got back from researching at the safari zone" he signals them to come over to his lab and opens up the door. Mido peaks inside and yells "dad! You got guests!" Mido jesters them to go inside.
Professor Oaks Lab - Main Room
Lance is shocked to see such a huge laboratory. It's nothing like the dragons den at Blackthorn. He looks around at everything in site. He hears someone coming into the room "now Mido, who could that be?" He stops to see Marvin "Marvin! It's so great to see you!" He says to him. Marvin smiles "likewise Samuel!" Lance is confused about who this is. Marvin then introduces Lance. Lance is shy but gains the courage to speak "hi, I'm Lance." Samuel smiles at Lance, "please to meet you Lance. I am Professor Samuel Oak. I am a Pokémon Researcher." Lance is shocked, he's heard of Professor Oak, but he has never seen or heard his voice. "No way? You're Professor Oak?" He says, feeling that he is about to faint. Mido rolls his eyes "oh great, here we go again…." Lance is unable to hold his excitement "Professor Oaks a Genius!" He shouts to the whole lab. Mido isn't surprised at all "oh this isn't the first time I've heard all this…." He says. Marvin is startled by Lance's outburst, Professor Oak has a good laugh. "How many times has this happened?" Mido asks sarcastically.
Professor Oak just takes out some pictures of some pokemon, he has some blueprints hung up on his wall. Lance is curious about the blueprints "Professor? What are these?" Oak responds "why those are plans for a Pokémon Encyclopedia I'm working on. It'll change the world!" he says to Lance. Mido explains to Lance "he's working on a dex that can explain and understand Pokémon without someone carrying a large textbook or anything holding them back. It's a faster way to explain Pokémon without having to open up a textbook." Marvin is astonished "wow! A future Encyclopedia? Technology is evolving alright!" he says with a smile. Marvin hands in some reports he has sent over to Professor Oak, "these reports will explain the type of Pokémon that are also found in this region. They explain the evolutions of Magikarp and Dratini and why they are different from each other!" he also hands Oak another report "this one also explains why Gyarados isn't a dragon type!" Lance drops his jaw "Wait, Gyarados isn't a dragon type?" he yells in shock "that can't be right!" he calls out to Marvin. Lance looks at both Samuel Oak and Marvin like they are mentally insane. Oak says to his son "Mido, why don't you take Lance out and explore Pallet Town. Mido sighs "fine, come on Lance."
Pallet Town - Neighborhood
Mido takes Lance out of the lab to explore Pallet Town. Mido tells Lance about how boring the town can be. Lance isn't paying attention, he is in denial that Gyarados isn't a dragon type. Mido tries to call out to Lance, Lance finally snaps back into reality. Mido asks "so what is it like in Blackthorn?" he looks at Lance wondering if he is in the zone. Lance pauses, then responds "oh, just boring as usual…" he says back. Mido looks at Lance funny "really? I thought your town would be interesting? All of those Dragon Types and their Trainers, they seem to have a lot in that town" he says to him. Lance responds "no, just a bunch of dragon tamers and their everyday lives." Mido says to Lance "I heard that your town is going to be on the map for the Pokemon League in Johto. It wasn't there when I took on the gym challenge for them." Lance thinks for a moment and remembers something "oh yeah, one guy is trying to do that. I think he is friends with my cousin? I didn't think that was going to happen there?" Mido responds "it's going to replace that one gym that is no longer in that abandoned town" Mido tries to think of the name of that town that is no longer there "I just can't think of the name?" Lance doesn't have a clue what or where that town is either "me neither, but I guess the gym leader retired or something?" They try to think of the other gyms in Johto until they hear the cry of a child losing. Mido and Lance run over, they find that it is going on at the battle cliff.
Pallet Town - Battle Cliff
A girl with black hair and a blue headband smirks at the crying child. The child pleads with the girl to not do any harm to his Starmie "please, not my Starmie!" he says to her. The girl laughs, "then I'll take your money!" she says. She gets her Kadabra to hold the child using "psychic" the girl walks over to take the kids wallet. Mido calls out "hey!" seeing all of this going on. The girl looks over to see Mido and Lance. The girl looks at them both "well, well. A new challenger. This kid just lost an easy battle." Mido ignores what the girl has said "put the child down and give back his money!" Lance backs him up "yeah, or we'll take you down!" getting ready to send out his pokemon. The girl laughs "you think you two can take me!" she says with a chuckle. Mido steps forward "yes, yes I can!" he takes out his pokeball, he sends out his own Charmeleon. The girl laughs "okay then, I'll just stick with my Kadabra" she says while shrugging her shoulders.
The battle begins, it is between Mido and the Mysterious Girl.
They both use their pokemon to battle it out on the battle cliff. Kadabra uses his Psybeam to blast Charmeleon. Mido tells his Charmeleon to dodge, then gets him to use slash. Charmeleon slashes the Kadabra. The girl tells Kadabra to use its Psychic attack. Kadabra holds Charmeleon, Mido gets flustered but stays cool "use Flamethrower at the Kadabra!" he commands. Charmeleon blasts a powerful flamethrower at the psychic type. It is hit, but the girl tells Kadabra to use teleport, Mido tells Charmeleon to keep its guard up. Charmeleon uses his ears to sense where the psychic type to teleport too. Kadabra teleports behind Charmeleon. Mido tells Charmeleon to use Mega Punch to knock it out on the gut. Charmeleon turns around in fantastic speed, whipping it's Powerful Mega Punch to knock out Kadabra. Kadabra is hit right in the gut, unable to move. Mido tells Charmeleon to finish it off with a slash. Charmeleon charges its claws and slashes Kadabra, knocking it out. The Mysterious Girl freaks out, her prized Kadabra has fallen onto the ground. Mido tells the girl to give the boy back his money. The girl chucks the wallet at the boy, he goes home happy. Mido tells the girl "what gives you the right to steal!?" The girl doesn't answer, she glares at Mido "you better watch out! You've got the Champion in the making! I am Indigo! And I will get back at you for this!" she returns her pokemon back into her pokeball. She turns around, eyes Mido and says "smell ya later!" and dashes off.
Lance and Mido stand there, wondering what has happened. "I think you made yourself a new enemy," said Lance. Mido shrugs "she doesn't know that her Kadabra has a low physical defense. She needs to study better on her counters." Lance looks over the cliff, he looks at the sea "you think the gym challenge would be a great idea for me?" he asks Mido. Mido responds "if you take on the challenge, you can understand more about Pokemon and their ways of battling. It's good for a dragon type trainer to look around the world to understand what else there is besides Dragons." Lance smiles, he says "I will take on the challenge. And I will catch up to my old penpal!" Mido smiles, "it's worth it Lance! You and Dratini can learn a lot about the world." Mido checks his watch, it is almost time to go back to the lab. Lance wants to explore more. He looks into his pockets to see that there are other pokeballs that he hasn't used yet. He walks out to go train his Dratini. Mido warns Lance "just be careful out there, I heard about a group of thugs that are stealing other pokemon." Lance nods, "okay then" he takes his pokeball and heads out to work with his pokemon.
Route 1 - Grass Field
Lance goes out to Route 1 to check out what kind of pokemon there are. He goes to see that there is a rare pokemon in the shadows. It is a Charmander "oh wow! A Charmander! Kinda like Midos!" Lance throws out his Dratini, Charmander tries to run away, but Dratini uses its Extremespeed to stop him. Charmander trips and falls on the ground by Dratinis tail. Lance gets his Dratini to use wrap to restrain the Charmander. Charmander is trapped. Lance throws the Pokeball at it, the capture is complete. A girl screams at Lance. He turns to see that it is the same girl that battled Mido back at the lab. "That was my pokemon, I wanted to capture it!" she yells at Lance. Lance turns to her, "I saw it first!" The girl gets so mad, she takes out her Pokeball. "Then how about a battle!" she says to him. Lance keeps his Dratini out. The girl throws out her Pokemon, instead of Poliwag it is a Bulbasaur. "I'll use my starter to teach you a lesson!" she says to him. Both Bulbasaur and Dratini glare at each other along with their trainers.
Cold Area
It is a dark and metal area inside of a mysterious building. There are a few men and women all dressed up like wannabe skiers. They all send out their ice / water types to give them a little chill. A man with a giant winter coat sits on his throne. He watches a teenager walk into the area. The teenage boy is Cyle, Lances Older Cousin. The man smirks at Cyle "you know this is unusual? I never allow a dragon type trainer to join us!" he says to him. Cyle bows to the man "I have a Dragonair that can learn ice beam, thunderbolt, and flamethrower to counter those that try to stop us!" he says to the man. The Man with the Wintercoat smirks "Well then, battle my grunt!" The grunt steps forward, "if I destroy you, I get to be an admin!" he says to Cyle.
Cyle sends out his Dragonair while the Grunt sends out his Cloyster. Cloyster uses an Ice Beam to destroy Dragonair, but Cyle uses his Dragonair to send out his powerful ice beam. Cyles Dragonair uses his ice beam, it is more powerful that Cloysters Ice Beam. Cloyster falls back. Cyle then tells his Dragonair to use his Thunderbolt, the Grunt screams to his Cloyster to get back up and use body slam. Cloyster struggles a bit but begins to move, charging through the powerful thunderbolt. The Dragonair is hit, but Cloyster takes more damage. Dragonair uses his Dragonbreath, affecting the Cloyster. The grunts are blown away, they never heard of that move. Cyle tells his Dragonair to use Thunderbolt again, this time taking down the Cloyster. Cyle wins the battle while the Grunt kicks his Cloyster in the face. The man gets up and smiles "Welcome to Team Chiller!" Cyle has been accepted into Team Chiller.
