Episode 3:

Missing Data

Route 1 - Grass Field

Lance and his Dratini go face to face against the Mysterious Girl and her Bulbasaur. They eye each other getting ready for a battle. The Girl commands her Bulbasaur to use 'Tackle' the Grass Type runs at full speed. Lance tells his Dratini to dodge, but it is too late. Dratini takes the hard tackle. The girl chuckles "guess that dragon type isn't so strong after all" she says, mocking Lances Dratini.

Lance gets upset at her "Dratini, are you okay?" he asks his Pokemon in concern. Dratini gets back up, he nods to his trainer. The girl commands her Bulbasaur to use another 'Tackle' her Bulbasaur runs at full speed. Lance commands his Dratini to use 'Thunder Wave.' The Girl is caught off guard hearing that command, Bulbasaur charges, but takes the thunder wave leaving her paralyzed. The Girl steams in anger "Bulbasaur! Get back up and charge!" she yells in command. Bulbasaur tries to move, but struggles too. Lance smirks at the girl "this is why you lost back at the lab, you can't always use the same moves twice!" He advises her. The girl gets embarrassed "shut up!" she screams out, "Bulbasaur, use razor leaf!" she screams in anger. The girls grass type struggles, but manages to send out a few razor leaves. Dratini takes the hit, but not too hard like the strong tackle. Lance then commands Dratini to use 'wrap' while the grass type is paralyzed. Dratini flies over and wraps up Bulbasaur, using every bit of its strength. Bulbasaur cries in pain, not wanting to disappoint her trainer, she begins to glow. The mysterious girl looks at her Bulbasaur, wondering what is going on? "Bulbasaur?" she asks, feeling worried. She then looks at Lance "what did you do to my Bulbby?" she yells at Lance. Lance responds "I didn't do anything! Your Pokemon is evolving!" he calls out to her. The girl realizes that Lance is right. Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur. Ivysaur, feeling determined, breaks out of the wrap. Ivysaur jumps out and feels free. The girl smiles at her Pokemon, she realizes that her Pokemon is wanting to make her trainer proud of her. Tears start to drop from her eyes. Those are tears of joy. "Ivysaur, use your vine whip!" she calls out to the grass / poison type. Ivysaur spreads out her vines, hitting Dratini with pride. Dratini is badly hurt, but stays strong, feeling determined. Dratini and Lance nod at each other, Dratini uses his extremespeed. The girl tells her Ivysaur to use 'Tackle' both Pokemon come charging at each other, they collide creating a huge dust cloud. The dust clears, both pokemon are knocked out!

Cut to the Pokemon Center at Pallet Town

Pallet Town - Pokemon Center - Waiting Room

Lance and the girl both sit down in the waiting room. They wait for their pokemon to heal up. The girl looks at Lance, she asks him "so how long have you and your Dratini been training?" feeling curious. Lance responds "I only had him for about two days." The girl looks at Lance, feeling shocked with surprise "TWO DAYS?!" she screams out. The whole Pokemon Center looks at the duo. The girl settles down. Lance feels awkward "Yeah, it's only my second day as a trainer" he says in response. The girl is impressed with Lance "two days and already you have a strong Dratini and a Charmander on your side!" she says to him. The girl looks down on the ground "I've only had Ivysaur for about a few months, we've trained for days and days. Just too-" she wants to say more, but the Nurse calls out to the duo "Your Dratini and Ivysaur are all healed up!" she calls out to Lance and the Girl.

While collecting their Pokemon, Lance tells the girl his name. The girl responds "my name is Leah! I am determined to take on the Pokemon League" she says with confidence. Lance smiles at the girl "I've heard of the Pokemon League. I don't know if it is for me?" he says to her. Leah nudges Lance "give it a GO!" she says to him. "I could use a rival to hype me up!" she says to Lance. Lance smiles at the girl, he says to her "I'm thinking about that. My penpal wants to take on the league." Leah is curious, she asks "Penpal?" Lance explains "my penpal is from the Kanto region. He lives in a town called 'Saffron City.' Not only I wanna visit him as a trainer but to explore the world, get away from my hometown and see what other opportunities there are besides Dragon Types." Leah is curious "Dragon Types? Where are you from?" she asks curiously. Lance answers Leah "Blackthorn City." Leah is blown away "Johto!" she says in shock. Lance nods to her. They leave the Pokemon Center to learn more about each other.

Pallet Town - Park

It is nighttime, Lance and Leah leave the Pokemon Center. They sit at the local park. Lance and Leah sit on a bench while their pokemon get out and stretch. Lances Dratini and Charmander play with Leahs Ivysaur and Poliwag. They get to learn about each other. Lance wants to learn more about his opportunities as a trainer and explore Kanto while meeting up with his penpal in Saffron City. Leah wants to take on the Pokemon League. Leah explains to Lance "so yes, after getting my third badge. I decided to take a break and relax here at Pallet. I've lived here since I was a baby and always wanted to learn more about Pokemon." Lance is impressed, he looks at his pokemon, they are having fun with Leahs but wonders if Professor Oak and Marvin are right about Gyarados not being a Dragon Type. He still looks at Charmander, wondering his pokemon should be considered a Fire - Dragon Type? He thinks for a moment until they hear a police siren go by.

Mido runs over to the duo "Lance! You gotta come to the Lab!"

Professor Oaks Lab - Outside

Lance and Mido run over to the Lab, they see a load of Police Cars outside of the Lab. Police Officers and their Pokemon all search the lab high and low. Professor Oak explains to the police about the whole thing. Mido and Lance run over "Dad! Did you find them!?" he asks curiously. Professor Oak turns around, "no Mido. We searched all over the place! The reports are still missing!" he says to the two. Lance is curious "reports? What for?" he asks. Oak responds "the reports about the Dragon Types! The same ones that my colleague Marvin brought over!" he says to him. Lances jaw drops, he wonders why those reports would be stolen or why somebody would want them?

Leah runs over to the duo "Dad! What's wrong?" she asks the Policeman. Lance blurts out "someone stole the reports of Dragon Types from the Lab!" Leahs dad glares at Lance "boy, this is supposed to be private!" he says to him. Leah apologizes to her dad "sorry dad! Lance is new to the whole thing." Mido breaks the silence "did they take anything else?" asking curiously. Oak responds "only a few tools to help build the future Pokemon Encyclopedia." Midos jaw drops "we gotta get those back! Who knows what they would do with all of that?" he says to his dad.

Tohjo Falls - Cavern

A big heavy wintercoat lies beside the rocks. Lying next to it is a headband with a symbol that looks like a snowflake. The man rushes over, he catches his breath. A man with the same wintercoat on with a ski mask scolds the other man "you're supposed to have your uniform on!" he says to him. The other man says to him "and get caught? I would rather be out of uniform to steal these!" He pulls out files and technological tools. One of them is a file that involves Dragon Types. The man says to him "Good Job! Team Chiller can use this to take down the Dragons of Blackthorn City!" he says to him. Both of the Grunts smile, feeling determined to take down Blackthorn City.

Professor Oaks Lab - Living Room

Lance and Mido sit down feeling defeated, they have searched all over Pallet finding any clues that could help solve this case. Samuel Oak stands by the window, he looks out wondering who or why anyone could steal data. Mido and Lance relax, thinking about the whole thing. The doorbell rings.

Professor Oaks Lab - Foyer

The Professor opens up the door, Leahs dad stands there with Leah standing beside him. Lance and Mido hustle over to the foyer, listening in on the whole thing. Leahs dad says to them "Professor, we may have a clue." he holds up a labcoat, the same labcoat that was used in the lab. Professor Oak gasps, he wonders who came inside and stole data while pretending to be an assistant?

Professor Oaks Lab - Dining Room

Professor Oak, Mido, and Lance all sit at the breakfast table. A female walks into the room, she hands the Professor his coffee "here you go honey!" she says to him. Professor Oak smiles at his wife "thank you Melaine!" he says to her. Melissa smiles at her husband, they eat their breakfast. Mido is unable to eat his scrambled eggs. "Is there something wrong Mido?" his mother asks him. Mido stands up "how can you guys just sit there and not think about this! We had a spy right under our noses and they took something that was hard work by our researchers!" he yells out. Professor Oak tries to calm his son down "now Mido, we don't know who took the data? All we can do is wait." Mido puts on his coat "I can't just sit here and let our data get used by someone else!" he yells out. Mido collects his pokemon, he steps outside and onto the deck. He throws his pokeball, out comes a Fearow. Mido gets on his pokemons back, his father tries to stop him "Mido please! You can't go out there! We don't know who took the data!" he says to him. Mido responds "well I can't just sit there and wait!" he and Fearow fly away, going out to look for any clue. Lance asks Oak "you think he can find out on his own?" Oak turns around "we aren't sure. Mido is pretty determined on solving mysteries." Melissa sighs "I knew I shouldn't have bought those Sherlock Holmes books." she says feeling regretful. Samuel pats his wife on the back "now now. You can't do anything about it now." He says to his wife "Mido is a teenager now, he can make his own decisions. He only has one more year until he is an adult." Lance finishes his breakfast, he says to the Oaks "thank you for letting me spend the night with you all. I hope Mido finds out who did all of this?" he says to them. Oak gives Lance a present, it is a little box that resembles an old PDA. "This Pokemon Travel Assistant will help you on your journey" he says to Lance. Lance is confused "but I have a map" he says in response. Oak follows up "yes, but it can also help you find the nearest gyms, pokemon centers, and keep track of your pokemons health." he shows the example of Lances pokemon data. It shows the sprites of Dratini and Charmander. The PTA will assist you in your journey, it can map out your routes and get you through Route 1 without any trouble at all." Lance smiles "thank you Oaks" he says to them. Melissa Oak packs Lance a few sandwiches, making sure he stays hungry and healthy on his journey. Professor Oak tells Lance "If you are taking the Pokemon League, you will first head out to Viridian City. The first gym is where you will need to go."

Route 1 - Trail

Lance leaves Pallet Town, he goes on the trail that is guided by the PTA. A familiar face catches up to him. "Hey Lance!" the person calls out to him. Lance turns around to see Leah "Leah, hey!" he says to her. Leah stands right next to Lance "I heard you are heading over to Viridian and I thought I'd follow along to help you out" she says to him. Both Lance and Leah walk over to Viridian together. They not only become rivals but friends as well. Lance is determined to head over to Viridian City and get his first gym badge!

Viridian Forest

Deep into the Viridian Forest, Indigo battles a few trainers. All of their pokemon get knocked out. She shows off her new Pokemon, Electabuzz. The Bug type trainer looks at his fainted Pinsir in horror. He gasps in horror, throwing his pokedollars at her. Indigo smirks at the bug type trainer. She pets her Electabuzz. "That Oak kid may have the last laugh, but he'll see how tough my Pokemon are!" she grins with an evil smile.
