A day on shift. Kelly and Stella were in his office working on an arison case involving Kelly's father and a woman named Carol Spears. Engine 51 were out on the north apron checking those hoses and whatnot.
15 minutes later, they heard a crash and they looked over to see a car; a station wagon had crashed into a block of concrete.
A boy named Cory had driven his mother to the firehouse saying that his mother was in labor.
After Cory's sister was born, Captain Matt Casey had let him ride in Truck to follow ambo 61 to Lakeshore. When they arrived, Matt offered to sit with him until his father could be there.
Sylvie and Foster had just gotten back from filling out the paperwork when Cory's father showed up and they went to see the new baby.
Matt looks at Sylvie and Foster then says "Well I'm gonna take the fire truck back to the firehouse before there's any more excitement."
Sylvie says with her arms crossed, "you were really good with that boy."
Foster was watching them. Ever since Sylvie had told her that Olivia said her and Matt were meant for each other, she alongside Stella could see it.
Matt shifts a bit and then replies back "just doing my job."
Matt then starts to walk away from them when he suddenly hears something. Something that he probably shouldn't have.
While he's walking away, Foster had her hands on her hips while staring at Sylvie while she was watching him walk away.
Sylvie looks over at Foster noticing she was staring at her, "What?"
"Jump him already."
Matt's eyes widened. Did he hear her right? Foster gave Brett advice to jump him. Matt knew he shouldn't eavesdrop. He's a Captain and didn't get involved in the personal lives of his people.
He decided to move closer to the nurses station since they were now walking away.
They started walking towards the stretcher and then Foster says
"Look at your face. Oh my god you're as easy to read as The Hunger Games. Just jump him already and get it over with."
They started to wheel the stretcher down the hallway of Lakeshore when Sylvie replied.
"What if he doesn't want me to jump him?"
"Have you seen yourself? You're a freakin' 11. Who wouldn't want you to jump them. Hell, I want you to jump me.."
Sylvie gives her a weird look as they walk out of Lakeshore and head back to the house.
Back at the house, Matt was in his office when Capp stopped by and said Boden was looking for him.
Matt got up and made his way to his office. Boden was looking at something when he heard a knock. He looked over and saw it was Casey.
"Capp said you were looking for me, Chief."
"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Come on in."
Boden gestures for him to come in and he was holding something in his hands. It was an opened file.
Matt points to the door and says, "Do I need to shut the door or ?"
Boden looks at him and takes off his glasses.
"No, it's nothing like that."
He shifts to put his glasses on his desk, "uh my lovely wife thought it would be a good idea to outbid someone at Terronce school."
Matt had his hands in his pockets "Uh oh. What'd you win?"
"Dinner for 4 at The Palm on Friday."
Matt says "Oh swinky!"
"Donna says I have to invite someone other than Mouch and Hermann to come join us. So, grab yourself a plus one. Join us at dinner."
"Sounds like I need to find a date."
Boden looks at him and says, "sounds like you do."
Matt shifts and says "Alright Chief. See what I can do."
Matt then leaves Boden's office and heads over to the towers just in time to see ambo 61 pull in. He watches as Sylvie exits out from the driver's side and makes her way to the back of the ambulance where Foster appears and they both open the doors.
He watches them for a few more minutes and then heads back to his office to catch up on paperwork and to do some thinking.
Matt walks out onto the app floor and sees Sylvie in the back of the ambulance with Foster nowhere in sight.
"Brett.."
Sylvie looks over to see Matt standing close to the ambulance. She grabs ahold of the handle and steps down.
"Yeah?"
Matt started to cross his arms but then puts them on his hips
"So uh.."
Feeling nervous, Matt moves a hand to the back of his neck and knees it softly. Trying to ask Sylvie out is making him feel like he's asking the most popular girl in school.
Sylvie keeps looking at him waiting on him to say something but she ends up touching his arm lightly.
"What is it? Talk to me."
Suddenly in the moment he feels like he could tell her anything and everything.
"Would you like to go out to dinner with me next Friday?"
Sylvie stood there thinking she was hearing things. Did she hear him right? Was Matt asking her out?
"Eh what?"
"Boden invited me and one other person to join him and Donna for dinner at The Palm. You're the only person I wanted to ask.."
"Oh um.."
Sylvie starts playing with the wristband of her watch and then she twirls the ends of her hair on her finger.
Foster appears out of nowhere and hears the end of the conversation and she makes the go on gesture. Sylvie notices her and gives her the thumbs up. She then looks at Matt.
"Sure. I'd love too."
Matt smiles at her and says he'll pick her up at 7 next Friday. Sylvie never really noticed Matt's smile until now and it made her stomach flip.
Matt walks back into the firehouse to finish up some paperwork. Foster walks over to her.
"You're gonna end up jumping him."
"Emily!"
"What? You know I'm right."
Foster then walks away and Sylvie sighs fully knowing that Emily is right. Damn her.
The weekend comes and goes. Monday starts off very slow but after an hour the calls start coming in. Tuesday was busy with back to back calls and not stopping until after lunch. Once Wednesday came, it was a normal shift.
Matt was in his office sitting at his desk filling out paperwork from the last call when there was a knock on the door. He waved them in and when he looked, it was Severide.
"What's up with you?"
Matt looks at him confused, "what do you mean?"
"You've been in a good mood since Friday. What gives?"
"What? Am I not allowed to be in a good mood?"
Severide looks at him. "No you are allowed.. it wait a minute, you got a date don't you?"
Matt tries not to smile but he does it anyway. "Yes I do. In 2 days,"
"Anyone I know?"
Matt looks around to make sure no one was walking by
"Actually, it's Brett."
Matt looks back at Severide and judging by his reaction, he was quite surprised.
"Dude, you ask out Brett!"
"Yes I did." Matt said smiling
"I don't even know you liked her like that."
"I just don't know for sure if she likes me too" Matt told him
"Well according to Stella, she does. Something about you walking into the bunk room and Brett fake coughing. Stella called her out on it."
"She does?" Matt said, smiling
"Yeah. Stella filled me in. She wasn't sure how she felt about you until Olivia pointed out that you're meant for each other. Apparently, Olivia watched you two all night at game night."
Matt smiled, looking forward to Friday.
Friday night: 6:30pm
Sylvie was a nervous wreck to say the least. She and Foster had gone shopping yesterday after shift.
She had her try on at least 10 different dresses. One was off the shoulder dark blue and it showed way too much skin. She had to remind Foster that she wouldn't want to treat Matt for a heart attack before their date. The second to last dress was a red strapless one and had a slit on the left side showing some leg. It stopped mid thigh and it was silk.
"The Captain won't know what hit him. You'll definitely knock his socks off.. well knock more than his socks off."
"Emily!" Exclaimed Sylvie
Sylvie was finishing with putting her hair up and applying light makeup. After Foster helped her get ready, she told her to call later with the details and then she headed out.
Sylvie looked into the mirror and gasped. She looked like a freakin 11.
She took a few deep breaths to calm her nerves.
Matt parked his car and went up and knocked on Sylvie's door as he waited for her to answer it. She looks at the door and says to herself "okay this is it.."
She walks over to the door and opens it.
"You look very beautiful" Matt smiled as he hugged Sylvie and they left to meet up with Boden and Donna at the restaurant
She ducked her head a little from the comment and they head out.
Once at the restaurant, Boden and Donna were already at the table. They were talking amongst themselves. Matt and Sylvie both smiled as they went over to the table and greeted Boden and Donna as they sat down.
Sylvie sits down and tries not to be nervous and acts normal.
Matt sat next her as he noticed she was nervous and he reached over placing his hand on hers to help calm her down.
She looks down and somehow it helped calm her down immediately. They chat with Boden and Donna as they order their food and drinks.
Sylvie says to Donna "So how have you been?"
Matt smiled as he sat next to Sylvie.
Although when his hand touched hers, she felt it. The spark. She felt that same spark on her first day at 51 but she ignored it after learning he was with Gabby. She just had a feeling.
After Donna updated them on her teaching and their son, their drinks and the food came. They sat at the table eating as the evening went on
Suddenly someone came out from the kitchen and said "need some help in here!"
Sylvie's head whips around to see the person and her paramedic mode switched on. She got up from the table and walked over to them.
"What happened? I'm a paramedic."
"One of my cooks accidentally picked up a knife the wrong way and it's bad.."
Matt sat at the table as he watched what was happening.
"Well take me to them." Sylvie says and looks back at Matt
"Will you call for an ambulance?"
The person takes Sylvie into the back where the kitchen is.
Sylvie inspects the injury and gets right to work. Matt calls for an ambulance as he tells them operator what happened while Sylvie is taking care of them.
After he calls, he comes in and tells them they're on the way
Sylvie tells the person "now we need to keep the blood in and keep the infection out.."
She takes the stuff out of the first aid kit and wraps the wound and applies pressure.
Matt watched Sylvie as he knew there was something very special about her because he knew that Severide was right about seeing him so much happier.
While waiting on the ambulance, Sylvie kept pressure on the wound and checking their pulse.
Within 10-15 minutes, the paramedics came and Sylvie gave them the rundown of it.
"He'll definitely need stitches."
Matt stood by as he watched Sylvie in action as she made sure they were taken care of.
The paramedics took him out in a chair and took him to Chicago Med.
Sylvie helped clean up and she washed her hands. She looked at Matt who was standing by
"What?" She asks noticing he's looking at her
"Nothing. I just liked seeing how good you are at your job, Sylvie" Matt told her
"Well thank you Matt Casey." She says as they walk back to the table. Boden and Donna watched
Matt and Sylvie sat back down at the table as Boden asked "Is everything alright?"
Sylvie says "Yes. One of the cooks picked up a knife the wrong way. Deep cut in his side. Gonna need stitches."
Matt looked over at Sylvie then at Boden and Donna. Sylvie felt all eyes on her and she said "what? I was just doing my job."
"We know that, Sylvie. We were all just admiring you for how good you are at it" Matt told her
"Oh well I'm gonna follow up on him cause I know how much that means to you." She said taking the complement and spinning it back to him.
Matt smiled as Sylvie complimented him, because it felt really nice to finally have someone in his life that truly appreciated him.
"Cause you're a little extra that way.."
Matt smiled at Sylvie as she said that
She looks down at her plate and they continue talking to Boden and Donna. Matt looks over at Sylvie to make sure she's doing okay as they talk to Biden and Donna.
She looks at him and says "yes.." She then asks about Terrence
While her and Donna were talking, Boden held a conversation with Matt. Soon they were done eating.
After dinner, Matt took Sylvie back to her place then asked if he could walk her up to her door.
She thought for a moment debating if she wanted him to and what would that mean.
She knew they needed to talk and so she nodded slightly.
"Sure. Otis and Joe aren't here.."
She thinks to herself 'why did I say that?'
Matt got out then went around to the passenger side and held the door open for her as Sylvie got out.
She gets out and they walk into her building. She walks them to her apartment and she unlocks the door.
"Look, I know we need to talk.." she walks in with him
"I was thinking the same thing" Matt told her as they walked in
She watches him and she walks over to the fridge to distract herself not wanting to skip the talking and just jump him. "You want anything? We got beer…" she trails off
"I'll take a beer" Matt told her
She gets two out and hands him one. She opens hers and takes a few sips.
They both try to speak at the same time and she plays with the wristband of her watch.
"You first.."
"Kelly called me out on the fact that he noticed how much happier I've been whenever you're around because I'm always smiling. I honestly feel that I'm in a much better place now after everything that happened, because with you I feel alot more comfortable with saying how I feel" Matt told Sylvie as he took a couple sips of his beer
She bites her lip and says "which is?" She swallows softly
"I have feelings for you, Sylvie" Matt said as he waited for her to say something
She looks at him, not quite believing it.
"You do?" She says softly, she felt heart beating faster
"Yes" Matt smiled at her
"How long?" She felt her stomach do that flip again from him smiling at her
"For a few weeks now" he told her
"For me.. it was longer." She says as she looks at him "just didn't realize it til recently."
"I'm in love with you, Sylvie" Matt said as he really wanted to kiss her
She took a deep breath and decided to show a different side of herself "what do you want Captain?"
"Can I kiss you?" he asked
She runs her thumb across her bottom lip and says "Yes you may.."
Matt leans in as he puts his hands on either side of her face and kisses her. She knew once they kissed, she wouldn't be able to stop. She kisses him back and moans a little.
Matt knew he couldn't stop either as they kissed
She kept kissing him as they were standing in the kitchen she shared with Otis and Cruz.
"Sylvie, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked, hoping she'd say yes
She looks at him, a little out of breath and her eyes changed to a dark blue. "Yes." She said smiling
Matt smiled, not wanting to take things further than what Sylvie was willing to because he didn't want to do anything to make her uncomfortable
She clears her throat "So uh what now?" She wanted to take things further but didn't want to rush things. "Wait, don't answer that." She said and she looked at him "can I ask you something?"
"Of course you can" Matt told her
She didn't waste any time. She was affected by that kiss. "If Gabby came back and asked you to go.. *she closes her eyes for a few moments, struggling with it* would you?" She reopened her eyes and looked at him again
"No, I wouldn't. The things she did and the way she treated me really hurt and I never want to go through that ever again" he said
That's all she needed to know. She pressed herself against him and started to kiss him again. Her arms wrapped around his neck.
He kissed her back as felt he had finally found the right one this time around in Sylvie
She keeps kissing him. She was glad he was being honest with her. She couldn't get together with him only for him to leave.
This was Matt's first time in the apartment and they were standing in the kitchen by the counter.
Her bedroom was down the hall to the left.
While kissing him, she slowly starts walking backwards. Once they reach her bedroom, she lets her hands roam. She felt his hands roam her back and sides then she felt one of his hands playing with the zipper of her dress.
He unzipped her dress as she started to unbutton and remove his shirt. She unbuttons his shirt after getting his jacket off and she lets his shirt fall to the floor and of course he had to be wearing an undershirt as well. She groans against his lips and then she lets her hands move down and she starts to take off his belt.
She lets her dress fall to the floor and she breaks off from the kiss and took a step back with a coy smile holding his belt in her hand and she drops to the floor. She was wearing a matching bra and panties set.
"Wow, you look beautiful" Matt smiled as he stepped out of his pants and smiled at her
She blushes slightly and she watches him biting her lip.
Matt walked forward and kissed her again. She kissed him back and her hands roamed his back and sides. Her bed was behind her.
He had his arms around Sylvie as he kissed her neck.
She instantly moaned, feeling his lips on her neck and got weak in the knees. She felt him walk them backwards until she felt the back of her knees touch the bed.
Matt kissed Sylvie as he unfastened her bra and threw it on the floor.
She felt like the temperature was 200 degrees there. She kissed him back and shivered slightly feeling his hands on her back.
Matt helped Sylvie undress the rest of the way as she helped him also
She stepped out of her panties and she helped him get out of his boxers. She totally forgot she was still in her high heels and went to take them off when he stopped her.
She looked at him with dark blue eyes that were almost black.
When she looks at him, she groans finally getting to see him naked and she shivered. She knew she was embarrassingly wet now.
Matt wanted her so much that he kissed Sylvie again. She kissed him back deeply and she felt him slide his hands down to her thighs to pick her up.
She then automatically wrapped her legs, wrapped his waist and moaned loudly against his lips as their centers touched for the first time.

She realizes what's about to happen and says while trying not to blush "should we use ah.. I'm on the pill but if you want to use.. I have some in my drawer."
"We can use one" Matt said as he looked at Sylvie
She nods and waits for him to move to get her some room so she could lean over and open the drawer to grab a condom.
Matt took the condom then opened it and put it on. She watches him while he puts it on as she was biting her lip a bit hard.
He kissed her again as he slid himself inside her and they both moaned. She kissed him back and she gasped slightly and moaned out from feeling him. She responded to him immediately and she arched her back a little. She was soaking wet.

She poured everything she felt for him into the kiss. Then she pulls away and says "for me, it's been since the beginning.."
Matt smiled as he heard her say that as he told her "I'm so happy that I've finally found my person in you, Sylvie"
She rubs his chest with her thumb back and forth and says "So what now?"
"What do you think we should do?" he asked her
"I mean I know we have to tell Boden right away.." She replied
"Yes we do"
"Should we tell the rest of 51 or wait?" She said looking at him
"I think we should tell the rest of 51, but after we tell Boden first"
She nods agreeing "Alright" she says trying not to yawn.
Matt noticed Sylvie was trying not to yawn as he asked if she wanted to sleep. "Yeah." She says "at least we don't have shift tomorrow." She kisses him and lets him move as he sat up and watched as he took care of the condom and watched as the muscles in his back reflexed. She looks down with a smile.
Me laid back down as he held Sylvie in his arms and soon they both fall asleep. They slept the rest of the night and the morning came and she was still asleep.
Matt laid there watching her as she slept in his arms. For some reason while she was sleeping, she felt herself smile. Matt smiled as he held her. She stayed asleep for a while. She felt the ache in her limbs from the night.
Matt laid there holding her. Soon she starts waking up slowly and her eyes were met with Matt's.
Matt smiled as he said "Good morning, babe"
"Morning.." she says in her morning voice not realizing he called her babe yet
He kisses her. She kisses him back and then pulls away to look at him "did you just call me babe?"
"Yes I did." Matt said smiling
She smiles at him and kisses him then says "do it again.."
"I love you, babe" he said
"Ah.." she smiles brightly and kisses him deeply, happy.
She keeps kissing him. She felt like a dream waking up next to him in her bed.
He kept kissing her back. She kisses him a few more times and has to stop from smiling. She pulls away and looks at him "I love you too baby."
Matt smiled more as they laid in bed. They lay in bed for a while. She wasn't expecting Otis and Cruz home until later.
"Wanna go out for breakfast or stay in and make it?"
"Stay in and make it" Matt said
She nods and kisses him quickly then she starts to get out of bed. He got out of bed and got dressed as he waited for Sylvie. She slid on her panties and she decided to wear his button up.
He was wearing his boxers and extra shirt. She bit her lip and waited for his reaction seeing her in his shirt.
"That looks so sexy on you, Sylvie" he smiled at her
She smiles softly "really? Then come get me.." she giggles as she runs out of her bedroom and into the kitchen
Matt followed Sylvie as he smiled and put his arms around her waist. She squeals as he caught up to her and she turns in his arms to kiss him. They were now in the kitchen and after kissing for a few minutes, she showed him where everything was.
Matt helped her make coffee and helped with making breakfast. She makes the eggs and toast while he does the bacon. She watches him from time to time.
He smiles at her as they finish cooking and sit down to eat. They start to eat and she says "So, any plans today?"
"Not really" he told her as they ate
"Me either." She smiles softly as she sips her coffee
Matt smiled back as he sipped his coffee. "So we tell them tomorrow?" She continues eating.
"Yes" Matt told her
Once they finish eating, she asks him what he wants to do. "Cuddle in bed and watch tv" he says
She nods and once they clean up, they head back to her bedroom and she pulls up Netflix "you pick.. unless you want to watch what I like but I may warn you. I get very into it."
He puts his arms around her as they watch. About 20 minutes in, she gets into it and says "this is right up my alley. Anytime something broke on the farm, I fixed it."
Matt sat there as he was enjoying getting to know more about Sylvie. No one knew Sylvie was adopted except for Gabby cause it never came up. She wasn't sure if Gabby had told him or not.
She tells him things though.
"Well I know how to drive a tractor. I know how to mend a fence.. I wasn't afraid to get my hands dirty."
"I'm really enjoying getting to know you more, Sylvie" he said
She looks at him "really? Cause there's a lot people don't know about me yet." She says and then adds "remember when Cruz made the shamagain?"
"Yes, I do" he told her
"I helped him make it. I welded the two tools together." She said
"Cool" he smiled
"Yup." She then adds what setting she had the tool on to weld the two together.
They continue watching Property Brothers. Matt had his arms around Sylvie. She kept watching her favorite show. Soon the morning passes by. Matt laid in bed with Sylvie.
She talks as they turn old houses into new ones. She was wondering how he was paying attention because even though she had his button up shirt on, she forgot to button it up.
Matt looked at Sylvie and noticed how sexy she looked in his button up as he kissed her. She was in mid sentence when he kissed her.
"I love how sexy you look in my shirt, Sylvie."
She looks at him speechless and says "you do?"
"Yes" he said
"Well in that case.." She said smiling and then she kisses him deeply
Matt kissed her back as he ran his fingers through her hair. She kept kissing him and suddenly she felt him shift on top of her.
Matt smiled as he looked into her eyes
She was looking into his eyes and felt her stomach flip again and thought to herself 'oh boy I'm in trouble..'
Matt smiled as they laid in bed together. She thought of something and she started to get out of bed. "I'm gonna go take a shower.." hoping he would join her
Matt got out of bed as they went to the bathroom. Once there, she leans over the tub and turns on the shower. She then turns to him and kisses him deeply.
He kisses her back. She kisses him back and runs her fingers through his hair on the back of his neck. They both got undressed and got in the shower.
The steam from the shower was filling up the room. She was in the water and she kissed him deeply. He had his arms around her as they kissed.
She kept kissing him and moans a little as she felt his hands roam her sides. She was beginning to love his hands on her.

"Yeah I know." She says and then adds "I'm actually glad I came to Chicago 4 years ago."

A little later that afternoon, Matt said "I would love to make you a special romantic dinner"

Her breath hitched. She hasn't even thought that far out. "I think.. that would be pretty perfect."

Matt finished cooking and dished up two plates of pasta with marinara sauce and garlic and a bowl of salad for each of them with ranch.
She wondered what he was thinking while cooking. She could easily see them having lazy weekends cuddling and such.
Matt set their plates and salads on the table then poured some soda for each of them with ice as he said "this is one of my favorite things to make"

"But you ended up telling everyone. Matt Casey!" Her eyes narrow at him

Matt smiled as they ate. She eats her food and drinks her soda as well. "So.." she finishes eating "we're really doing this?"

They continue eating and they talk. Soon they finish and he stays a bit longer. Around 5, he gets ready to leave since they had shift in the morning. She walks him to the door. She opens it for him.
