Part 2 of the climax.
"Deadpool 3" (or as it's been retitled, "Deadpool & Wolverine") teaser looked great. Was surprised to see Aaron Stanford reprise his role Pyro from X-Men 2 and 3. Can't wait for July.
We just got the full cast for the first family of comics, The Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal as Reed, Vanessa Kirby (who I mostly know from the recent "Mission: Impossible" films) as Sue, Ebon Moss-Bachran (kinda remember him as Micro on Netflix's/now Disney+'s "The Punisher," may rewatch soon) as Ben, and Joseph Quinn (aka Eddie Munson from season 4 of "Stranger Things." I loved him on that show and I'm actually looking forward to his portrayal) as Johnny.
Also Happy belated 35th Birthday to Wanda Maximiff herself/ Elizabeth Olsen and Happy belated 60th Birthday to Ninth Doctor (On "Doctor Who"), Christopher Eccelston.
Chapter 12
"Okay, Spider-Mans, Sandman's first." Peter-1 tells them as he dodges Flint and Max's attacks to get to Flint's cure.
"I'm going to lead him inside the statue." Peter-2 tells them.
"I'll meet you at the top." Peter-3 tells them as he dodges The Lizard, who is chasing him.
"Come on!" Lizard snarls.
"Hey!" Peter-3 says as he grabs Flint's cure. The Lizard then tackles and pins him to the wood floor of the scaffolding. "Hey, Dr. Connors."
"Hello, Peter!" He snarls at his captive.
Fortunately, Peter-1 then swings by.
"Peter-1!" Peter-3 says as he throws the cure to Peter-1.
"I got it!" He replies after catching it.
But then Max shoots him with a lightning bolt and he drops it onto the scaffolding. Meanwhile, Peter-2 has found an opening to the statue and lures Flint inside. He then makes his way to the head, with Flint on his tail.
"Flint, we're trying to help you!" He tells his pursuer. He then reaches the inside of the head, with Flint ready to drown Peter-2 in sand. "Guys, I'm at the top. I need the cure!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming!" Peter-4 replies.
Peter-3 is still having trouble with The Lizard.
"Just wait your turn, Doc!" Peter-3 says as he struggles but eventually gets him off him and then webs him to different parts of the scaffolding. "I'll be right back." He tells as he picks up Flint's cure.
He then uses his webbing to sling shot himself up to Lady Liberty's head and throws it to Peter-4 while dodging Max. Peter-4 then activates the device and throws the cure to Peter-2's hand, which was fortunately the last part of him to not be submerged by Flint. The device creates a bright light that shines from Lady Liberty's crown. After a few seconds, the sand falls to the bottom of the statue and Peter-2 takes off his mask to catch his breath. On the other side of the room, Flint Marko starts to solidify back into a regular flesh and blood man.
"It's okay, Flint. We're going to get you home. Just…stay right here." Peter-2 reassures him.
Meanwhile, Max draws a lot of power from his arc reactor, to attack the Spider-Men as Frost circles the Statue via ice slide.
"How do we stop him?" Peter-1 asks.
"I've never seen him this powerful." Peter-3 tells them.
"It must be the arc reactor on his chest. It's the only new element we know of." Peter-4 hypothesizes.
"I agree, we gotta get it off him." Peter-1 tells them.
"You're not going to take this away from me!" Max tells them. Peter-1 tries to web pull the arc reactor, but Max cuts it. "That's not going to work!" He tells them as he fires a blast at the four heroes. The blast separates them, giving Frost the opportunity to kill her Peter.
"Okay, we gotta do this up close. Peter-2, go right. Peter-3, go left, Peter-4-"
"Uh, little problem! An icy problem!" He says as Frost chases him.
"Ok, so just the first 3, on me!"
They try to subdue Max, to no avail. After a few seconds of Frost chasing Peter-4, she was kicked to her side by Peter-1 in a swing kick towards the scaffolding.
"Sorry, lady!" Peter-1 says as he sticks to the side of the scaffolding before turning to Peter-4 who is doing the same. "Talk to her. She should be right by her cure."
"What about Max and Connors?"
"The Three of us can handle them. If not, maybe she can help us if you can convince her. You're sure you can talk her into joining our side, right?"
Part of him was unsure. It's one thing to convince your sorta ex and one of the loves of his life to be a hero, but twice?! But he knew he had to. Not just for himself. Not just for their future family. But for Caitlin and Frost. Caitlin is a great woman, as was Frost. But both are heroes in their own ways, he just had to show her.
Just then, The Lizard roars as he makes his way to the still open portal to Ned and MJ.
"You go save your friends, I'll go save my wife."
"Got it!"
Peter-4 then makes his way into the scaffolding towards Frost. As she slowly gets up, he webs her hands to the bars of the scaffolding.
"Insulation webbing, meaning it'll take a few minutes for you to freeze your way out."
"Just get it over with and give me the cure, so you can have your girlfriend back!" She tells him mockingly, angry that she's lost and will be once again trapped in Caitlin's mind.
"I don't just want Caitlin back. I want to help you too." Peter-4 tells her as he takes off his mask, grabs the cure from nearby, and holds it up. "This won't get rid of you, it'll make it like it was before, so that you and Caitlin still have your Jekyll and Hyde thing."
"Why? You could have had her back. You could make it like Flashpoint never happened for you two."
"Because I don't want my girlfriend back, I want my girlfriends back…or should I say, my wives back." He tells her as he takes off his left glove to expose his wedding band. "I was pulled to this universe from the year 2027. It's probably a bad idea to reveal too much of your own future, but I trust you to keep it a secret, even from my past self. I love you. And before you say I only love Caitlin, you're wrong, I love you both. We're married, all three of us."
"You'd willingly marry a woman with a second personality?"
"I willingly married a woman and her second personality. Sure, you're not the same type of girl I'm used to dating, and Caitlin is. It's like dating a bad girl and a bookworm at once. These past few days, I've missed you both. Hell, I've missed the taste of your blueberry lip gloss."
"How did-" before she completes her question, Peter-4 smirks and raises an eyebrow, making her realize how he knew. "Oh, right."
"After you break free from the webbing; take the cure, help me cure Max, Connors, and Norman, and I promise we will have a great future together. You can be a hero. Hell, you saved me and Miles from that fire. You don't have to be cold."
Frost thinks about what he said. Frost, a hero? Loved by the Spectacular Spider-Man? It's too good to be true, right? Does she really deserve such happiness? At the very least, she's curious how good a kisser he is based on some of Caity's memories.
It's then that she finally breaks through the webbing. But even though she's now free, Peter-4's not in a fighting position to defend himself.
"If you want to kill me, go ahead. I trust you with my life." He tells her.
She wants to do something, but before she can, there's a question that's been bugging her for a while.
"What about Barry and Iris? Because of them I even have these powers and nearly killed you."
"Barry does feel bad about stopping me from helping you and he wants to apologize. The only reason I left them was because it felt like his agenda was more about saving Iris than helping you and I was tired of that. You left and blamed Barry, not just for trying to hurt you, but for causing this with Flashpoint. Hell, if it wasn't for me, Iris would've tried to run the team. But…admittedly, you and Caitlin are better friends with her." He tells her, but can tell he's hiding something in regards to Iris.
"Why are you hesitating?" Frost asked.
"I don't want to give you too many spoilers. I want your reactions to events in the future to be genuine."
"Oh bull shit! You just revealed that we're married!"
"Ok, fine, after all, it could be possible for you that I'm from one of many possible futures.
"Sure."
"You know the Crisis from the future newspaper in the time vault?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, Barry survives it and it causes a lot of changes like Kara's universe, Harry's universe, and one other universe with a hero we meet during crisis, and ours are combined. But for Barry, he is now married to Patty instead and Eddie is alive and married to Iris. Hell, they live in Hub City, I only see them about twice a year."
"Good to know."
"So, what do you say?" He asks as he holds the cure in front of her. She takes it and decides to shotgun it down. "Thank you."
"You better be a good kisser."
It's then that The Lizard gets washed past them by ocean water from one of Ned's portals (both he and MJ are now on the scaffolding). The surprise shocks Frost, who then changes into Caitlin in a split second. The cure worked. She soon realizes she's in the arms of her Peter Parker.
"Peter?" Caitlin asks.
"It's okay, you're back, I'm here." He reassures her and they stare into each other's eyes and share a kiss.
"I don't know if you heard what I told Frost-" he tells her after breaking the kiss
"Not really, no."
"You and Frost both date me."
"But she's the reason I was gone for months!"
"No, Barry was! I was so close to persuading Frost to stay, but Barry stopped me in the delusion that it would lead to saving Iris. When you two get back to Earth-1, my past self is going to give you a different cure to help balance you two better, that Lucius made with help from your mother. I know you don't like her because you're not in control of your body. But one day, you come to love her like a sister."
Caitlin sighs, a little defeated, but curious and willing to accept her future. "Ok, Peter. I trust you."
"Come on, let's go help my doppelgängers." He says before grabbing her hand and taking her further up the statue.
They make their way near the top to discover that Otto has arrived and helped the other Spider-Men give Max his cure.
"Max? Max?" Peter-3 asked.
"Don't worry, I'm all tapped out." Max reassures Peter-3 as he sits against some scaffolding.
"Are you sure about that?"
Max sighs in defeat. "Back to being a nobody."
"You were never a nobody, Max."
"Yes, I was. Yes, I was. You didn't see me." He chuckles. "Can I tell you something, though?"
"Yeah."
"You got a nice face. You're just a kid."
"Ehh…" he shrugs off what Max tells him.
"You're from Queens, you got that suit, you help a lot of poor people, I just thought you was gonna be black.
"Oh, man, I'm sorry."
"Oh, don't apologize. There's gotta be a black Spider-Man somewhere out there."
Peter-3 nods in reassurance.
"Sorry to eavesdrop, but I have a sidekick with the same powers as me, plus invisibility and electric powers. But he's half African American/half Puerto Rican." Peter-4 tells them as he and Caitlin approach them.
"Really?"
"Yeah, his name is Miles Morales. Maybe he already has powers on your world too. If not, I'll bring him by and introduce him to you two."
Max sighs, "Goddamn eels!" The 4 chuckle at that.
"Is this Caitlin?" Peter-3 asked, curious to meet his doppelgänger's girlfriend.
"Yeah, Caitlin Snow, this is…well, this is Peter Parker." Peter-4 says as he introduces his girlfriend and doppelgänger to each other. The two shake hands.
"Hi, Peter told me a lot about you."
"Thanks, nice to meet another doppelgänger of Peter's. You're already better than the first one I met." Caitlin tells him.
"Yeah, he told me about our evil twin with the alien, black goo suit."
Otto marveled at the arc reactor that he plucked from Max's chest. It seemed like yesterday he tried to create a fusion reactor to create renewable energy. Both times, it nearly hurt millions, and got his wife, Rosie, killed. But from what he's discovered about this universe, the arc reactor can do almost the same thing that he was trying to do, but with little to no harm to anyone.
""The power of the sun…"" He quotes himself.
""...In the palm of your hand."" Peter-2 finishes the quote after landing near Otto.
"Peter?" Otto asks. Peter-2 then unmasks, showing that it's been a long time since Peter last saw him. Otto is glad to see that the young man has grown.
"Otto."
"Oh, it's good to see you, dear boy!"
"It's good to see you."
"You're all grown up!" He then chuckles, glad to see the man standing before him. "How are you?"
Peter-2 then spots Peter-3, 4, and Caitlin approaching them. Remembering their conversation from earlier, he has his answer. "Trying to do better."
Otto notices he's looking away and looks to see Peter-4 and Caitlin holding hands.
"I see, you found your Peter."
"Yeah." She replies in a loving tone of gladness to be reunited with her boyfriend.
"Well, hello young man, Doctor Otto Octavius at your service." He tells Peter-4, with his right hand extended to shake peter-4's.
"Peter Parker. You gave Max the cure? You helped us?" Peter-4 asked, surprised to see a nice version of his decades-long archenemy, let alone to shale his hand.
"Yes, my dear boy."
"Sorry, I'm just too used to your doppelgänger from my universe trying to dissect me."
"I'm sorry to hear that."
"Hi, I'm also Peter Parker." Peter-3 tells Otto and shakes his hand as well.
Caitlin turns to Peter-2. "Let me guess, Peter Parker?" She asks as she shakes his hand.
"That's correct Doctor Snow." Peter-2 smiles at her, glad she and his doppelgänger are reunited.
"So, I go and talk to Frost and Caitlin for a few minutes and you guys cure Max and Connors without me. I'm starting to feel a bit useless." Peter-4 tells his doppelgänger.
"Trust me, you're not useless."
"We still have Osborn to deal with." Otto tells them.
"He should've been here by now." Peter-3 notices.
"Based on the few times I've fought his Earth-616 doppelgänger and the Joker, he'll arrive fashionably late and make a dramatic entrance." Peter-4 tells them. Just then a portal appears, with Doctor Strange walking through, holding the Macchinda di Kadavus. "Doctor Strange?"
"Do I know you?" He asks.
"No, but I've worked with your Earth-616 doppelgänger. He helped my friends and I with the Crisis of Infinite Earths."
"Ah yes, Wong told me that happened during the Blip."
Just then, Peter-1 lands next to them.
"Strange, wait, we're so close!" Peter-1 begs him.
"Skip it! I've been dangling over the Grand Canyon for 12 hours!"
"I know, I know, I know. I, uh…um…uh…I'm sorry about that, sir I mean…"
"You went to the Grand Canyon?" Peter-2 asks.
"He could have used your help." Peter-3 tells him.
"Well he wouldn't, he's the reason we were abducted and forced to come to this universe!" Caitlin tells them.
"That teenager interrupted my spell!" Strange yells.
"Fine, he's half the reason we're in this mess!"
"Yeah, in case it's not clear, the ones dressed similar to me are my doppelgängers from other universes." Peter-1 tells him.
"Look, I'm really impressed that you've managed to give them all a second chance, kid. But this has to end. Now!"
"CAN THE SPIDER-MAN COME OUT TO PLAY?!" The Green Goblin shouts as he flies from out of the clouds with razor bats.
Called it, Peter-4 thought.
Otto grabs the razor bats with his tentacles, but is still blown back. Goblin then flies by Strange and snatches the cube. Otto grabs the glider with one of his tentacles while Strange creates a magic energy whip to snatch the cube back. Goblin manages to slice the claw of Otto's tentacle that was holding the glider. Strange gets ready to finally push the button on the cube. However, the four Spider-Men look in horror as they see that Goblin put one of his pumpkin bombs in part of the cube.
"STRANGE, NO!" Peter-1 shouts in horror.
Next time: the conclusion of the climax
You may have noticed that i referenced What if Universe's story "What If…?: Moments" chapter 7. Mostly because it had Peter-4 reassure Frost the he loved her too and here he was trying to show her that she can be loved too.
Recently, author Aragorn II Elessar updated his story, "Heroes Coming Together," which had a version of Cisco admit that he only tolerated Iris, because he was more friends with Barry and Joe. I think that Caitlin in mine and WIU's story felt the same/ Though in the show, Caitlin was one of Iris' bridesmaids and was invited to her bachelorette party.
