Harry Potter and his will to survive

This Story takes place during Harry´s fifth year at Hogwarts. Read along as he enjoys Christmas, finds love on the way and returns to Hogwarts better and stronger then before. Main Pairing Harry and Ginny. Side Parings will be there but I am not sure who is going to be with who at this moment.

Chapter one Ginny´s perfect Christmas gift for Harry

Having the Weasleys around always felt good to Harry, but this time it felt even better, because they made Grimmauldplace into something that could resemble a loving home. Harry hated being here as much as Sirius, but with Hermione and the Weasleys it was way better then without them especially because that also meant that he gets to spend time with Ginny and ever since they went to the yuleball together, he loved spending time with her. After he took a deep breath Harry walked downstairs, so he would be on time for the gift exchanging.

After the childhood he had with the Durleys, it was still kind of surreal to Harry that someone actually wanted to spend money on a gift for him. However since he started at Hogwarts and became friends with Ron and Hermione he learned that he was indeed worthy of friendship and love. Sitting down next to Hermione, Harry looked around room and saw that everyone else was already there and waiting for him. He took a deep breath and said "Good morning everyone, sorry for being late, didn´t have the best sleep."

"That´s alright mate we just got down here as well" came the reply from Ron who sat next to Luna, who was staying with them as well. Harry smiled at his friend and nodded his head.

The exchanging of gifts was a lovely affair, with a lot of smiles and laughs all around, just what everyone needed in this time darkness with a war nearing.

Hermione got a lot of books all around and some sweets as well as some joke products.

Ginny got her Weasley sweater, some sweets, a few books and then something that she could not believe happened. She got a firebolt from Harry. She wanted to pull him out of the room and talk to him right then but knew that it was not the right time for it. Later however she would do it for sure.

Harry got some books from Hermione, a broom cleaning kit from Ron as well as some sweets, from Ginny he got a photo album with Photos of himself with Ron, Hermione, Ginny herself and some others we all. From Fred and George he got some joke products and from Mrs. Weasley he got his personal Weasley sweater.

Now that the gift exchanging was done and everyone had breakfast as well, most guests went back to their rooms. Harry sat on the couch in the living room, thinking about the day he had so far and how thankful he was for his friends.

"Hey stranger, got space for one more?" Ginny asked standing next to the couch.

Harry looked at her and smiled "Of course Gin." She smiled back at him and sat down next to him.

The two of them talked of nothing of importance for a bit, just enjoying Christmas and each others company. "How are you feeling Ginny?" Harry asked once he saw the way she got more nervous and a bit more pale.

The youngest Weasley looked at her friend and said "I am doing okay, of course I wish dad would not have been attacked at the ministry and could be here today. Other then that, this Christmas is amazing and that is partly because of you and the gift you got me. I still can´t believe that you got me a fucking Firebolt Harry. Again thank you so so much for that, you really didn´t have to."

Harry just smiled at her and answered "I know I didn´t have to, but I wanted to give it to you Gin. Because I know that it will be of good use when you try out for the team next term. Besides that, I also know how much you love flying and this way we could fly together either at Hogwarts or during the Holidays."

Ginny looked at Harry and asked the question that was on her mind ever since she got the new broom from him. "You really think I have a shot to join the team?"

"Of course you have a chance Gin. Who ever the new captain will be, would be a foul to not give you a spot on the team." Harry replied with a smile on his face.

Ginny smiled back at him "Thanks for saying that Harry and we can fly together for sure, that´s the least I can do for you as a thank you. Oh by the way, I have one more gift for you as well. It is kind of personal tho, so could you come with me to my room?"

I wonder where this is going Harry thought as he nodded his head and answered "Sure Gin, lead the way."

Okay Ginny this is it, don't get too nervous now Ginny thought as she entered her room with Harry next to her.

Inside her room, the two of them sat down on her bed and started talking to each other some more. Once Ginny got her nerves under control, she looked at Harry and said "Okay I think it is time that I give you the one gift I still have for you. Please close your eyes."

"You know I don´t normally do this, but I trust you, so I will close them for you". Harry said and then did as he said and closed his eyes. "Now hold out your hands please." Ginny replied while her heart started to beat faster.

Nodding his head Harry did as she asked and held out his hands in front of him. Gathering all her Gryffindor courage Ginny laid her hands into Harry´s and then did what she wanted to do, ever since the day started and gently pressed her lips to his in a soft and gentle kiss.

At first Harry was shocked that Ginny was actually kissing him, but as soon as he realized what was happening, he kissed her back passionately. Only when the need for air became to much to bear for them did they pull away from each other.

Harry still a bit dazed from their kiss just smiled at Ginny. Ginny taking his smile as a good first sign squeezed his hands gently and said "I am your gift, if you will have me. I liked you as more then a friend for a while and today seemed like the perfect day to reveal that."

"Of course I want this as well Ginny, I wanted to be more then your friend, ever since we went to the yuleball together, but after you left so sudden that evening I wasn´t so sure about what you thought about me anymore."

"I know I was stupid that day Harry, but I enjoyed the evening we had so much, that I was scared that whatever you wanted to tell me would ruin it. So I made something up and left. We are here now, so I think it all worked out in the end." Ginny said with a small smile on her face.

"Yeah I guess it really did work out in the end. So even tho I can guess the answer by now, I still want to ask you this. Ginny Weasley will you be my girlfriend." Harry asked her with a grin on his face.

Ginny nodded her head then replied with "Of course I will be your girlfriend." After that she kissed him again, this time with much more confidence then before, but just as gentle and soft.

After their parted their lips once more, they walked back down to the living room and decided to cuddle on the couch in front of the fire.

"Merry Christmas Harry" Ginny said before she rested her head on his shoulder. "Merry Christmas to you as well Ginny." Harry whispered into her ear before he kissed her forehead.

It didn´t take much longer for the newly formed couple to fall into a peaceful slumber. Both falling asleep with the same thought in mind and that thought was finally we are more then just friends, this makes indeed a very special Christmas.

About two hours later Harry woke up again. After a quick look to see what time it was, he sighed and turned to look at Ginny. She looked so beautiful even in her sleep and he wanted to let her sleep, but it was time to wake her up. Otherwise they would miss lunch and that would certainly be something that would be questioned and they were both not ready for those just yet.

So with one last look around Harry turned towards Ginny and softly traced his fingers along her cheek. He watched as her eyes fluttered open and she smiled at him. "Hey you, I would have let you sleep, but it´s almost lunch time." Harry said as he smiled back at his love.

"Don´t be sorry, it´s a good thing you woke me up. As much as I enjoyed cuddling with you and would love nothing more then to do that all day long. I don´t want anyone to see us, before we told them. But I also don't want to hide our relationship, so how about we tell everyone at lunch?" Ginny replied while she sat up and fixed her hair.
