Zuko! Part 1
Summary: Because Nightwing had a son and he intends to get him back even if it means breaking the east apart.
Chapter 1 In which the Court of Owls play dumb
In which the Court of Owls play dumb, is what Nightwing would tell them if he spotted the Court of Owls chanting to themselves about gaining a son. So, they chanted and chanted away repeatedly at that repeatedly at best.
"He well be our son," they said in unison. "He well be our son!"
And, they chanted and they chanted to themselves some more. Of course, it was a little bit hard since the child wasn't born yet and of course it was even harder since the child had no name yet, but the mother new she was pregnant. Because of that it was enough proof for them to chant and chant and chant all over slowly binded the unknown spirit to themselves. Of course being the son of the famous Nightwing and Nightingale was a little bit harder then they thought it was because much like his parents he too had a fighting spirit. A very fire full and powerful fighting spirit. And, so they paused and glared at each other, hooting along to this uneventful night.
Now, what? One of their own thought to themselves because they really wanted that boy, they really wanted to break his parents hearts and tear down that damn superhero family of this dimension apart. They couldn't do it with Stark because Stane had tried and failed horribly being stopped by Stark daughter in the process. So, now what?
They hooted some more and argue some more about the matter at hand. They hooted and hooted and hooted before it dawned on them.
When the child is born they take it from the crib and when the child is born they shall give it to an Empire. Or even better yet, take the woman before the child is born.
Do you mean a King? One of them thought pointing at each other like the fools they were.
Do you mean an Empire? The other thought and then it dawned on them again. They shall sell it to the East and it well cast a Great War between the East and the West. Thought the Court of Owls, hooted they went, hoot they cheered. It was the perfected planned to be.
And, so the Court of Owls walked off down the path and jumped over gates before finding themselves outside of the Bat Cave, they paused for they heard talking among the group.
"Where's you're siblings?"wonder Batman.
"How am I meant to know? I don't babysit them when they're on their honeymoon, blah," said Red Hood.
"She's pregnant and out in public with his child."
"So, what should've stooped them before they got close,"said Red Hood as he held out his hands mockery and walking out of the Bat Cave the Court of Owls hid in the shadows.
They chuckled to themselves at the thought of it, they were right near the homes of the Bat Clan. All they needed to do was wait and if Nightwing was one of them he would call them idiots.
Chapter 2 In which Sparrow is sure she is followed
She was six months in when she found herself knitting her son a jumper. Six months pregnant and waiting for a child, a child of their own a child she and her brother well have together. A child who well find themselves being darling little niece or darling little nephew to uncle Jason and he well be theirs. But then there was a feeling she couldn't shake it off, a feeling she was being watched from a far. By whom and by what? She wasn't sure. Sparrow Wayne was off duty at the moment and so was Nightingale she wasn't expected to work any time soon unless of course she focus on her studies or start a new career in the author work. She had no tendency in starting to write a book nor any dreams of writing one at all.
"So, what are you and where are you?"she thought out loud to herself as she put away her knitting gear and stood to wander around the mansion.
There was nothing in sight at the moment. Nothing just her and the sound of Albert washing up down the stairs. She paused and looked around wondering and wondering if something was watching them from a fair. It couldn't be a spirit that was said to be death if you spotted one or heard one, so she gulped to herself sallowing down her fear and texting her husband that she might need back up. Might as in maybe as in possibly because she didn't feel safe and even on this floor she felt as if she was being stalk as if she was being watched. So, Sparrow walked down the wooden steps to be with Albert because anything was better than being alone.
"Ah, Lady Sparrow how nice to you," said Albert. As he dried up the dishes. "Now, how can I help you?"
"Albert do you sense that?"she asked to him.
"Sense what?"
"That feeling?"she wondered. "It's like I'm being followed."
"Now, my dear there comes a time in our life where we are to meet the ghost of the past," said Albert.
"The ghost of the past?"she asked.
"The ghost of the past is which and well be you're future child. No, longer a friend to the spirit world much less a ghost, but a friend to the physical world and much less alive. You are being followed by none other then the ghost of the past and our next generation in other words your own future son."
"My son?"she asked. "Are you sure I'm not just being stalked?"
Albert held out her hand so the young and only daughter of Bruce Wayne wouldn't faint, she was however not his only child.
"So, it's just my son."
"It is just your son. Now, do clam down my dear as I go gather you some coffee."
"Thank you, grandfather," she said to the elderly man and helped herself to a newspaper instead.
Chapter 3 in which she is taken
"Are you sure?"wonder Nightwing as he came home with a shoulder bag which was odd.
"I'm sure. Albert says he's the ghost of the past and not some noisy spirit, but I am sure I'm being followed and by the living not a ghost."
"By the living?"
"Yes, but that's enough about me. Do, tell me what do you have in that bag of yours?"she wondered. "It's odd for you to carry anything home."
"I found this in some old tower, figure it's seen better days," said Nightwing. As he pulled out a golden helmet from his bag. She gasped at the sight being able to spot her own reflection in the shiny golden polish of the helmet.
"It's very pretty."
"Thank's. Want it?"
"Where to put it?"she wondered to herself as she held the helmet in his her hands.
"Careful we don't know if it's magical or not," said Batman. "It might be curse."
"I'm sure we well find out. In that case then I'll leave it in the Bat Cave until we figure out if it's cursed or not."
"Oh, good. I'll go call Zee he's an expected on all things magical," said Batman.
Sparrow and Nightwing gave each other a kiss.
"I'll see you soon. I've got some paper work to catch up on," said Nightwing.
"I'll help grandfather with the dinner then," she said and wander off.
Of course the last thing anyone heard from her was a loud scream the men dashed off at once tracking that scream only to find no Sparrow in their sight.
