When Melinda was three weeks old, Piper realized she wanted to summon Melinda Warren to meet her namesake ancestor. "We only summoned her that one time, and we could have used her help a lot more over the years," she murmured to Leo.
"Do it tomorrow," he suggested.
"Sounds like a plan - I'll talk to Phoebe and Paige in the morning." And then before they could fall asleep, their youngest started crying. Piper sighed and got up to feed her.
The next morning, the Charmed Ones summoned Melinda. "This is our youngest sister, Paige. We lost Prue in a demon attack several years ago," Phoebe explained.
Piper glanced over at her sons, standing next to Leo. "You know Leo, of course. These are our sons, Wyatt and Chris. Say hi!" she encouraged.
The boys waved at her and Melinda smiled back. "Nice to meet you all."
Piper grinned at her. "I know you saw many daughters last time you were here but Leo and I were surprised with two boys first. Phoebe and Paige are working on though," she informed her, pointing to her pregnant sisters.
"I got two of them in here," Paige explained to her.
"Just the one for me," Phoebe added.
"And this lovely little one?" Melinda questioned about the baby in Leo's arms.
Piper and Leo both smirked. "Would you like to hold her?" Leo asked. When Melinda nodded her assent, he transferred the baby over to her.
"Melinda Warren, meet Prudence Melinda Halliwell. We call her by her middle name, though."
"Lindy," chimed in Wyatt.
Piper sighed. "Wyatt started calling her Lindy the second he met her, and it seems to be sticking so far."
Melinda rocked Lindy back and forth to soothe her when the baby started to stir. "Prudence Melinda is the perfect name, Piper. Fitting for a girl who I know is going to grow up to be a powerful witch. You and Leo finding each other was fated."
Leo wrapped an arm around his wife. "It was. We've been through so much and came out the other side much stronger."
Melinda handed Lindy back over to Piper when she started getting fussy. She kneeled down next to the boys. "How old are you two?"
Wyatt beamed at her. "Four. Chris is two."
"You're protecting your little sister until she comes into her magic?" Melinda checked.
Wyatt nodded. "Yes!" He tried to protect both Chris and Lindy to the best of his abilities, although their little sister hadn't been in much danger yet.
"I protect," Chris solemnly verified.
"Good boys." She stood back up and smiled at Piper and Leo.
"You can stay for the rest of the day - demon attacks have died down recently." At least they weren't in the middle of a crisis this time, which Piper was pretty thankful for.
"Eat!" Chris yelled.
Leo laughed. "The kids have spoken - Piper will go all out for dinner."
Melinda held Lindy again while Piper inspected both the fridge and pantry to see what she could cook for dinner. "Enjoy this peace while it lasts, darling," she whispered to the three week old.
Chris pulled on Melinda's dress. "Play?" he asked hopefully.
With Lindy asleep in her arms, Melinda wasn't sure she wanted to disturb her but Leo managed to take the baby back without waking her up.
Melinda sat and played with the boys while Piper got dinner ready, and then the whole group sat down to eat about an hour and a half later.
Melinda had to return shortly afterwards but Piper, Phoebe, and Paige vowed to summon her more often. They lived up to their word, and Melinda Warren and Melinda Halliwell got to have many conversations over the years.
