Freak's evolution into Mikey was something that we all enjoyed, but what if that never happened. What if Emil finished what he started and Freak did what Emil wanted him to do?

We have seen Mikey take on warlocks and greater demons and squish them like bugs, without breaking a sweat. But suppose Mikey went up against himself?

Who would win?

Let's find out.

FIRST I SHOULD WARN FOR VIOLENCE AND DEATH IN THIS FIRST CHAPTER. REMEMBER WHAT FREAK WAS BEING TRAINED TO DO BY EMIL AND HE DOES IT IN THIS FIRST CHAPTER.

I won't say 'enjoy' because I know most of you will hate me by the end of this chapter. Just know that I hate myself and that I always ALWAYS end with fluffy goodness.

Ok, let's begin.

It's just after ten o'clock on a warm summer's night, and the War Room of the NY Institute is jumping with activity. Shadowhunters returning from patrol and some leaving to start their shift.

Nobody notices a four year boy with olive skin and short brown hair as he walks to one of the conference tables, then stops. For a few minutes he watches Shadowhunters walk quickly past him without giving him the slightest of glances.

Silently, he raises both hands and starts throwing fireballs. Some hit furniture but a lot hit Shadowhunters.

Within minutes there are screams of pain and anger in the Wall Room as Shadowhunters quickly look around for the army attacking them.

And see only one small boy. His purple eyes glance around for more targets.

Shadowhunters bring out their seraph blades but the boy creates and throws fireballs faster then they can defend themselves or their fellow Shadowhunters.

Bodies are on the floor. Some dead and burned beyond recognition. Some moan in pain with limbs seared away.

The boy blankly looks around as he extinguishes his power. He silently stands among the dead and dying.

A portal opens in the hallway and Catarina runs into the War Room with a sick look on her face as she looks at the carnage.

The boy quickly turns in her direction.

She puts a barrier around herself, straightens her shoulder and says in a commanding voice, "Warlock, stand down or else."

The boy silently looks at her as he raises both hands. Before he can do anything, Jace comes up behind him. He grabs the boy by the scruff of his neck, with one hand and slaps a pair of adamas handcuffs on the boy's raised wrists, with his other.

He pushes the now restrained boy to the floor and takes out his seraph blade.

Catarina screams, "Jace NO!"

Jace is shaking with rage as he spits out, "Why not? Look what he did!"

"He's just a boy."

"Just a boy? Just a fucking boy? Are you kidding me, Catarina? Look at what just a boy fucking has done!"

Catarina slowly walks over to Jace as the boy silently looks from one to the other. She has tears in her eyes as she whispers, "Jace, you can't let your first action as the Head of the Institute be the murder of a child. Alec wouldn't want that."

Jace closes his eyes as he lowers the seraph blade. Tears start to roll down his face as he slowly nods, "You're right." He opens his eyes then glares at the boy, "You're lucky."

The boy silently looks back at him.

"Got nothing to say for yourself?"

The boy continues to stare silently at him.

Jace shakes his head as he grabs the cuffs and pulls the boy to his feet, "Come on." He drags the boy as they walk around the bodies.

Catarina runs after them, "Jace..."

Jace doesn't turn around as he walks to the elevators, "Don't worry. I'm just going to toss him in a cell then see who's left."

She comes to a stop and sadly says, "I'll help."

Jace gives her a weak smile as he and the boy get in an elevator, "Thanks."

She nods as the door closes. She slowly turns around and walks back into the War Room. Tears return to her eyes, as she once again looks at friends lying dead or dying.

The elevator door opens and Jace pulls the boy out by the handcuffs. Jace's eyes are cold as he walks to an empty cell and unlocks it with his stele. Once the door slides open, he drags the boy into the middle of the cell then walks out.

He relocks the door then glares at the imprisoned boy, "IF I find out you personally murdered Alec, I will kill you. No matter what Catarina says. Do you understand me?"

The boy neither answers nor reacts in any way. His purple eyes just stare at the Shadowhunter.

Jace's jaw clenches but he pockets his stele and walks down the corridor back to the elevators without another word.

The boy walks closer to the door and watches Jace until he turns the corner and disappears from sight. The boy looks down at the handcuffs and tries to remove them, but he can't. He tries to bring magic to his fingertips but he can't do that either.

He looks around the cell, his face showing no emotion as he takes in his surroundings. He walks over to the bench against a wall and sits down.

There is nothing else for him to do but wait for Master to free him.

Over twenty four hours later and Izzy is openly sobbing as she types the report regarding the death of her brother and the massacre in the Institute.

Luther found Alec's body outside by a tree. He ran back to the Institute but couldn't get in because warlocks had locked down the church. He called Jace, who had already started patrolling in the Bronx. Jace tried to get in touch with Magnus, but Alec's husband wasn't answering his phone, so Jace called Catarina.

By the time she and Jace got to the Institute, it was no longer impenetrable and they walked into a slaughterhouse.

Catarina later went to check on Magnus and Maxine but found to her horror that their building was on fire. Firemen eventually bought out four bodies. Three men and a teenage female.

Catarina stood there crying as the bodies were loaded into ambulances, then her phone beeped with a text message.

From Magnus.

She sat on the curb and sobbed as she read:

I know Alec is dead. I can feel the emptiness within my soul. I didn't need them to tell me. They killed Maxine when she got home. They are allowing me a few minutes to text you then they promise to make my death quick. Emil and Rogan. I'm going to take them with me to Hell.
Goodbye Catarina.

Once Magnus killed his, Maxine's and Alec's murderers, their barrier around the Institute died with them.

She returned to the Institute and gave their names to Jace. He was able to locate their base of operations in a small town in Pennsylvania.

There he found Emil's journal of hate, with this final entry:

We had some time to kill as the Shadowhunter bled out, so Rogan researched him and it turns out he's married to the HW of Brooklyn. After we drop off Freak and the dead Shadowhunter, we'll wipe out his family. All is going as planned.

Izzy looks at the journal, which is on the desk by her phone, and with a scream of rage, throws it across the room. Then she puts her head in her hands and cries.

She was in her room getting ready for bed when it went down. If she had stayed downstairs a few minutes longer, she might have been among the dead.

Clary was running late, dealing with a demon problem in Park Slope, otherwise she also might have been in the War Room when the boy showed up.

The death toll would have been a lot higher if the boy had shown up around sunset. Twenty-two Shadowhunters killed. Twelve wounded with burned limbs, seven barely clinging to life.

Izzy wipes her eyes as she hits 'send'. She's done with the report. She and Jace will share Head duties until the Clave decides who will be Alec's official replacement.

Two heavily armed Shadowhunters bring Freak three meals a day. They stay until he finishes eating, then take the tray and leave. He eats with the handcuffs on. He says nothing to the Shadowhunters even as they curse and yell at him.

But they are forbidden to harm him.

It's been three days since he walked into the War Room and cold bloodedly attacked Shadowhunters.

Jace glares at the boy, as he unlocks the cell with his stele. He and Luther walk in. The boy silently watches them.

Luther takes out his seraph blade, "Give me a reason."

Jace places a two inch wide adamas band on each of Freak's arms. Once both bands are locked, Jace uses his stele to unlock the handcuffs. He puts the stele back in his pocket as he holds the handcuffs, "Izzy thought this would be better. They have electrodes to further block your magic."

Freak says nothing.

Jace leans closer to him, "We're pretty sure that you had nothing to do with Alec's death, so you get to spend the rest of your existence here."

Freak continues to stare silently at him. Luther grips his blade tighter.

Jace sneers, "I bet you're waiting for that fucker Emil to get you out? You have a long wait. Magnus killed him. Magnus was Alec's Protector until his final breath."

Freak looks down at his banded wrists as he whispers, "Master is dead?"

Jace straightens up, "If Master is Emil, then yeah, he and his buddy are in Hell."

"I see."

Jace glances at Luther, who shrugs. They wait, but Freak doesn't say anything else.

Jace nods, "Okay, now that we know you can talk. Let us know if you want anything else." He sneers, "Freak."

He and Luther leave the cell. Jace relocks the door with his stele and they walk away.

Freak stares at the closed cell door.

Izzy watched the footage of Freak's assault in the War Room and in between tears she realized that his glamour disappeared once the loft went up in flames. Not that it really mattered, but Emil knew that the red marks on the boy's bald head and palms would have been a warning. Then again there was little time to react to Freak's magic. The Shadowhunters in the War Room were doomed the minute he walked in.

It's been two weeks and she has finally found the strength to visit Freak.

She looks at him sitting on the bench, staring back at her. His banded hands resting in his lap.

She takes a deep breath then steps closer to the cell, "Do you need anything?"

He looks silently at her for a few minutes then responds, "I don't know."

She takes out her stele to unlock the door then walks in, "What do you mean, you don't know? Even a little one like yourself has a favorite food or a toy that you would like." She sits beside him on the bench.

Freak shrugs, "Master didn't allow me to have toys and I don't understand what a 'favorite food' is."

Despite the deaths he caused, she can't help the sympathy she feels for him. She smiles weakly, "A favorite food is something that you like to eat. Ice cream, pizza, a chocolate bar?"

Freak again shrugs, "Master didn't have any of that."

Izzy sighs, "Then, I shall add those foods to your menu. Would you like that?"

Freak's purple eyes fill with confusion, "Why?"

"Because the Clave thinks that it's best that you remain here. I just want your stay to be somewhat pleasant."

"Thank you."

She gently kisses the top of his head, "You're welcome." She stands and walks out the cell. She relocks the door, "Bye."

"Bye."

Izzy walks up the corridor. She rolls her eyes when she sees Jace standing by the security desk. His arms are folded across his chest and he looks pissed.

She gives him a smile as she gets closer, "Good morning."

He glares down the corridor then looks back at her, "What's going on?"

"I wanted to visit him."

"And?"

"He's a victim in this as well, Jace."

Jace rolls his eyes, "Between you and Catarina, I can't."

"The Clave said not to kill him."

"Yeah, but they don't want him in an Idris prison, which is where he belongs."

"They are afraid of what would happen if he got free."

"If those bands are good enough for here, then why aren't they good enough for there?"

Izzy shrugs, "I guess they don't want to take the chance of him overpowering the bands."

Jace shakes his head, "Again, but leaving him here is okay?"

She sighs, "Mom did try to get him transferred to a more suitable place in Idris but Inquisitor Watson wouldn't hear of it. He insisted that Freak stay here in New York."

Jace sniffs, "Watson is an idiot."

She nods, "If circumstances were different, this little boy would be loved and cared for by a wonderful family instead of being a mass murderer before he was school age."

"But they're not and we are stuck with him."

"Jace..."

"Fine. But the bands stay on and he stays down here."

"Agreed." She weakly smiles, "Do we need to shake on it?"

"No, I trust you."

"Thank you." She blinks away tears that threaten to fall, "We have to start healing and taking care of Freak is a start."

"I said fine, Izzy."

"I know." She slowly walks to the elevators. Jace glares once more at the cells, then follows her.

Oh lordy this might have been the worst chapter I have even written in my 12 years of writing fanfic. I know I cried typing it, so a BIG HUG for you, my dear reader, for reading it.

I do promise that the next chapter will be better and may even make you smile.

And YES, I will be getting back to Daddy Gets Sick, but the first two chapters of this have been bouncing around in my head demanding some attention.
