Today is my and Abby's engagement party with Alan and Amar . Amar was my best friend in the same initiate class . Alan was lieutenant who was watching the initiation . He has light skin tone but no hair . He has light brown eyes and eyebrows . He has brown beard around his chin. He has black stripped tattoos on his neck and back of his hand .
I sit with Abby and our friends
"Abby and Amar was eyeing each other since the first day but what about you and Alan?" Elizabeth rolls her eyes . "We didn't know until the last day of the final exam."
"I didn't want people to talk bad thing about Alan ." I nudge Elizabeth with my elbow
"Hey Delia ." Hana pats my back. "See who is here ."
I turn around and see my family are here . I am shocked
"Mom and dad." I hug them. "Beatrice , Maria and Caleb."
"Congratulation , Alan invited us over ." Mom hugs me . "He said that he doesn't want you to feel sad ."
Alan walks toward us . He wraps his arms around me .
"Hello Ms and Mr prior . These are beatrice , Maria and Caleb right?" He smiles at them
"Nice to meet you Mr Davis ." Beatrice smiles at alan. "I am beatrice , this is Maria and Caleb."
"Hello beatrice . Sit down please . Babe I am going to get a biggest surprise for you." He kisses my cheek. "I will be right back."
He leaves the room. I and my family sit down . Amar is gone . Abby is worried
"Where is Amar ?" I ask
"He was called by max and my auntie to do a retest with four . I don't know why." Abby grabs my hand . "Can you come out for a minute ."
"Sure . Mom and dad , I am going out for a minute . Please enjoy yourself ." I smile at them.
Dad and mom nod at me . I and Abby leave the room. Abby must know about divergent.
"My auntie told me once if she found out divergent, she will kill them." Abby says in a lower voice . "Amar told me that he is the one ."
"I know that Abby. However please trust him . If he can alive for this long, he knows how to hide it well." I nod at her . "Just trust him."
"I want to trust him but I don't trust my auntie and max." Abby is crying. "I am scared ."
We get back into cafeteria . Alan and Amar come back together with four . Abby wraps her arms around Amar . Alan takes out a big box and when he opens it, I see a diamond necklace
"I saw this one . Dad ." Rose comes down stairs. "It is the only one in the world . Alan said that he is going to give to someone that he will love this whole entire life , thanks Alan."
"This is not for you . It is for my dear baby." Alan puts the necklace on me . "I saw that you like it but you think it is too expensive ."
"You don't need to spend so much money on it. I love it." I hug him. "I love you."
I kiss his throat. He brushes my hair . Abby is shocked
"Why that is for her . I thought that you love me . Everyone love me here ." Rose screams
"Yes because you are Max's daughter . Everyone who want authority loves you but I am not. I only want Delia ." Alan kisses my forehead
"Rose , he doesn't love you just let him go." Max sighs . "He is a free person."
Max drags rose away from us . I am not really happy.
"I am not really happy with this ." I fold my arms and tilt my head to the side
"Baby girl I ding love her . I only love you okay ?" Alan tries to comfort me
"Fine ." I say. "I trust you."
We sit down . Alan gives us each piece of chocolate cake . Mom seems to like it but other don't seem to know it.
"It is chocolate cake ." Mom explains
"Mom , how do you know it." Caleb asks
"Oh ms prior is the ambassador of abnegation and sometime when she comes , we invite her for afternoon tea." Alan says
Alan isn't Candor anymore even he was from Candor
"Oh that's why." Maria nods at me
The only reason why mom isn't curious about chocolate is that my mom was from dauntless .
"So how did you know about our sister ?" Caleb is curious
"Caleb , that's rude." Dad looks at him.
"It's fine . Your sister was in the initiate class which I was looking after . She was so cute and worked so hard . She was the only one that didn't scared of me . The reason why I love her is that she is unique and I love everything about her." Alan says so confidently
I kiss him . He never need to say those that I know that he loves me . I love him too
"I love you." I blink my eyes with tears
"Why are you crying?" He kisses my eyes
When he is about to say something, someone is screaming.
"Someone jump. It's Amar ."
Amar! Jumped? He was here a minute ago. So Abby was right!
"What heck is this ?" I stand up. "Alan why is this happening!"
"I am going to check . Sam gets the body bag and the rope ." Alan rushes out of the room
Abby is staring at me . I know that she is speechless
"Let's go." I look at Elizabeth and Edward . "We have to get there ."
We run toward the door . Mom accompanies us . We rush to the chasm. Alan and Sam are dragging a dead body above the chasm.
Amar's body for sure . Same shape , the face is not visible but same tattoo as Amar .
"Amar ! No." Abby pushes all of us away
Alan helps me to stand up. Dad and Caleb come forward to help.
"Mom and dad , you guys have to go. I am sorry about the accident but it for sake of protecting beatrice and Maria ." I look at Caleb . "Also Caleb as well,"
"You guys need help ." Dad sighs . "It's fine ."
"It's okay. Alan and dauntless can do it." I am frustrated now . "Where is max even?"
Max comes down stair . He is crying. I don't believe that his tear is real. If he doesn't want anyone to die , why he gives Jeanine Matthew the access of the fear landscape
"I am sorry Andrew and Natalia . It is just an accident." Max leans against the wall. "I didn't expect this to come."
"We are sorry max." Dad comforts max . "We will do an investigation with Candor ."
"I can do it. It happened in the dauntless headquarter ." Max shakes his head .
I know that he probably will not allow dad to find out what he is doing. In the end , dad and mom leave . Alan and Sam are tired . Eric and max standing above chasm and give some speech about heroism.
"I don't feel right Alan." I am shivering.
"I know what they did . I will double check." Alan kisses me . "Just don't react too much."
"Okay." I say. "How is Abby?"
Alan looks around . We can't look Abby. Four comes down stairs
"She is in Amar's room. We find a letter for you from Amar Delia . He has something to tell you maybe ." Four hands me a letter . "We find that in his room."
"Oh he has something for me ?" I frown. "He is my friend anyway. Thanks four ."
"Abby needs someone to be with her Delia . Can you go! I have to talk to Alan." Four sighs . "I am really sorry."
I agree and go upstair to Amar's room. Abby is in bed
"Abby are you okay!" I sit down beside her
"I am not. My fiancé dead the night when we have the engagement party." Abby sits up. "Is Alan the divergent too!"
"Yes he is but no one can suspect in leadership." I shrug. "He retested before but he hid it so well,"
Abby says nothing. I don't know why Amar couldn't hid it.
"I think that he was protecting something. Every year if there was a person dead , then no one will be dead ." I say. "I assumed that he was protecting you and four ."
"Four ?" She raises her eyebrows .
"He was his initiate before you came . So that's why." I say
Abby is sobbing. She can't say anything properly.
"Maybe that's why." Abby grabs my hand . "You are so lucky."
"I am scared too. I am divergent as well." I shiver
"I will not tell anyone ."
I sleep with Abby that night. We are sleeping face to face .
"Good night Abby, I will be here with you." I say
After I wake up, it is the second morning. Abby is still sleeping. I get up slowly and walk out of the room. Alan is standing above chasm
"Alan , morning." I say
"Morning, how was your sleep," Alan comes toward me
"Why are you above chasm." I wrap him into my arms .
I am afraid that he will do something stupid too.
"Where is your necklace ." Alan says
"I put it back into the box and put it back in our room ." I smile at him. "Too pretty."
"You should wear it. It's fine ." Alan kisses my forehead.
I don't want to think about last night drama
"Will you be dead? You are divergent too" I cry
No , I am lieutenant Delia . I am smarter than Amar and stronger." Alan says . "Don't worry about me ."
