Chapter 1

Athena leaned lazily against a small rock in the lagoon, her elbows propping her up as her aqua-green tail swished gracefully through the water behind her.

It was an average day in Neverland for the 17-year-old mermaid. Her fellow mermaids gossiped and chatted all day long, as they basked in the sun with occasional visits from Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. The sky was a brilliant blue, the sun a soft haze of warm light in the center of its vastness. Athena twisted her fingers around a particularly long piece of seaweed, humming softly, her chin resting in her arms.

"Atheee-naaa" called in a singsong voice from a little ways away. "Stop daydreaming" she said, slightly annoyed, swimming over to her. In a whisper, she exclaimed, "We're going to sneak over to Pirates' Cove."

Athena grinned, bringing her mind back into focus. "Ohhh" she whispered, raising a brow mischievously. "What have you got planned for us today, Arika?" Arika was Athena's closest friend in Neverland. She was always thinking of crazy ways to charm any boy she laid eyes on. They would go together to find any potential victim of Arika's schemes.

"We are gonna see if any of those pirates are good looking." Arika smiled mischievously.

"Oh yes, I should've known" said Athena with a laugh.

Arika took Athena's hands in hers pulling her off the rock, "then let's go!"

They both dived into the lagoon, laughing, their long hair and tails flowed gracefully behind them.

"Oh I always forget, which way should we go?" Arika asked as the emerged from the tunnel that led out of the lagoon.

Athena shrugged, "let's just go forward, Never Land is always moving, we'll get there eventually."

"good idea, maybe we'll even find other handsome specimens." She smirked, laughing.

"Oh Arika" Athena smiled, nudging her friend on the shoulder playfully, her long red hair flowing out behind her as she swung her head back laughing softly. "You're impossible"

"You're the impossible one!" She retorted playfully, "you take too long, by the time we get anywhere all the good ones will be gone"

Athena laughed harder, shaking her head, "you wanna see who's slow?" She said challengingly.

"Ha I don't need to see who's slow." Arika smirked, "I already know it's you"

"RACE YOU!" Athena yelled, swimming fast past her in a swirl of bubbles.

"HA LIKE YOU'LL WIN!"

Chapter 2

Both mermaids stopped swimming gasping softly. They had been swimming for a very long time and the sun was beginning to set.

"Let's go up to the surface and see where we are." Athena said tugging Arika behind her as she swam upward.

"Wow" Arika gasped looking around. There was nothing but deep, blue ocean.

"Oh brother" Athena said her shoulders dropping, her wet flowing hair draped over them. "where are we?"

"How are we going to get back now?" Arika whined. "Should we just go back under and turn around?"

"I suppose" said Athena, whose tail was aching slightly. "Let's hurry; we don't want the others wondering where we are."

"Ok" Arika nodded, pulling Athena back under with her, their tails streaking out behind them as they swam in the direction they supposed was the way back.

They were getting nowhere as they swam for hours in silence. The sun had already set and rose and was setting again. Never Land was strange.

"Oh look" Athena said pointing ahead, after a while "that might be the lagoon"

"I don't think that's the lagoon Thi"

A huge structure with little twinkling lights dotted about it, surrounded by huge elegant corals and stones.

"It looks like a…" Athena said her breath taken away.

"Castle" Akita finished gasping.

"Since when did that get there?" Athena asked, swimming ahead to get a closer look.

"Careful, you don't know what's over there!" Arika called after her.

"I just want to look. We swam all of the way out here so we might as well" she called behind her shoulder, gazing at the magnificent castle, still swimming closer to it.

"Fine. Just wait for me!" Arika yelled trying to catch up to her.

The castle seemed to be fit for merpeople and maybe other sea creatures. Athena picked up her pace swimming faster towards it, she had never seen other merpeople besides her and her friends back at the lagoon before. She ducked behind a rock, a school of small orange and blue fish wizzing past her, Arika joining her. She peered over the top of the rock, gazing at the entrance of the castle. She glanced around quickly to make sure the coast was clear, beckoning Arika along with her.

"That's as far as I'm going" Arika whispered fear in her eyes. "What if it's dangerous?"

"Please?" Athena begged

Arika shook her head, ducking far behind the rock.

"Fine" she mouthed swimming backwards into the castle enormous entrance. No one seemed to be out at this late hour. They must all be sleeping, she thought. She swam swiftly through the front archway, peering around the corner, making sure the coast was still clear.

SMASH

"Oh my gosh!" Athena gasped whipping around her cheeks flushed, as she slipped onto the sandy surface of the palace. A tall, well muscled merman who seemed around her age, with soft blue eyes and short thick red hair, light freckles, and a navy blue tail, was rubbing his head. "I-I didn't realize you were there" she said flustered.

"No need to apologize" he said in a deep but gentle voice, looking down at her, "that was my fault, I should've watched where I was going. Are you alright?" He said, bending down to help her up, offering his hand.

She nodded, blushing slightly, taking his hand.

They both looked at each other in silence, curious expressions crossing their faces.

"Who are you?" The merman asked cocking his head, "I've never seen you around before. And I'm usually the only one who ever takes a stroll this late at night."

"Oh right" she said trying to think of a good way to explain why, "I uh don't really come from around here" she said in a small voice.

"Are you here to steal?!?" He asked menacingly narrowing his eyes. "Or hurt my family?!?"

"Oh no I was just trying to find my way back home when I saw this castle and I just wanted to look around" she said sheepishly, very quickly, backing up. "I'm really sorry for intruding. I would never hurt anyone"

"No, I'm sorry" he said shaking his head, calming his tone, "I shouldn't have yelled, it's just instinct I suppose. I'm heir to the throne and it comes with a lot of responsibility and sometimes I get a little ahead of myself" he said looking down ashamedly.

"It's alright" she said softly, slightly amazed that she was meeting a prince. And to believe she ran head first into him! She bowed her head quickly hoping she hadn't been disrespectful.

The young man chuckled softly shaking his head, "no need for bowing" he said waving it off.

"Oh, ok" Athena said, slightly embarrassed, dropping her bow.

"I'm Triton by the way" he said kindly, holding out his strong hand to shake hers.

"I'm Athena" she said, looking up into his eyes, placing her hand in his.

"It's been a pleasure Athena." He smiled, shaking her hand with a surprisingly warm and gentle grip.

"You as well Triton" she smiled, blushing.

"So Athena, where are you from, if not from Atlantica?" He asked curiously, leaning against one of the coral walls.

"Mermaids Lagoon" Athena said, "you ever heard of it?"

"Afraid not"

"Well it's really nice. All my friends get to live there with me" Athena said, a pang of homesickness in her heart. "And you don't ever have to grow up"

"That sounds lovely" triton said "wish I didn't have to grow up" he said glancing away from her, a sad expression crossing over his face, "you want me to show you around a bit?" He asked looking back into her green eyes.

Athena's heart lightened, "oh yes please! I've always wanted to see a real life castle!" She exclaimed

Triton gave her a full tour as they snuck around the quiet castle, trying to hold in laughter as they past many sleeping merpeople and fish, Athena going on and on about Never Land.

"Oh my gosh I'm tired" Athena laughed, "I forgot all about the time"

"Do you need a place to stay?" Triton asked. "I'm sure I can find a spare room if you need it"

"I have to go" she said reluctantly, twisting her hair in her fingers, "I really should have been back hours ago"

Tritons face fell slightly, but quickly smiled again a mischievous look playing across his face, "Do you want me to escort you my lady?" He asked in a mocking gentlemanly manner, holding out his arm for her to take.

"I'd be honored good sir" she laughed, placing her arm over his.

"Right this way my lady." He said swimming gracefully along side her, leading her back to the entrance.

"Will you come back and visit sometime?" He asked hopefully, as they swam, "You're fun to hang out with. You make me feel like a real teenager. Your pretty much the only person who isn't afraid that I'll punish you at any given moment"

Athena laughed, her long hair flowing out behind her. "Why would anyone think that?" She asked still laughing.

Triton chuckled, "no idea" he said laughing, "suppose it's because I'm the future king" he shrugged, "and sometimes I can lose my temper" he said sheepishly.

"Well I think you're wonderful" she said looking up into his soft blue eyes that seemed so kind and genuine.

"Thanks" he said looking down, his cheeks tinging a soft red against his rough tanned skin.

"Neverland is pretty far away though" she said, the realization that she probably won't ever see him again hit her like a ton of conch shells.

"Oh" triton muttered his strong shoulders drooping slightly.

"I'll try though, I promise" Athena said truthfully, taking his hands in hers.

"The sea can be dangerous Athena. I don't want you to get hurt" he said looking into her face genuinely. "Especially since I've just barely got to meet you"

Athena's heart swelled at how adorable he was being. "I can take care of myself don't worry." She said laughing softly, "and you can always come and see me" she added.

"Like I'd ever be allowed to leave Atlantica" he chuckled, "but if you tell me the way of course I'd come" he said gently squeezing her hands. "Everyone else will wake up in a few hours, and you look really tired. You sure you don't want to stay for just the night?"

"I must go home"

"Then home you'll go" he said bowing politely.

"Goodbye Triton" she said slipping her arms around his neck, giving him a tight hug, her tail swishing out behind her.

Triton grinned fondly, slightly surprised, gently hugging her back as if afraid he'd crush her, burying his face in her thick auburn hair.

Athena reluctantly let go looking into Tritons face, "goodbye"

"Good bye"

Athena waved as she slowly slipped out taking as many glances back as she could before she was back out of the castle and the merman was out of sight.

"What took you so long?" Arika grumbled impatiently with a big yawn as Athen swam back to the rock and shook her awake.

"There was loads to explore" she said not wanting to tell her just yet about the merman. "There's so much to tell!" She exclaimed.

"Just wait till we get back. I'm so tired" Arika said tugging Athena along with her in the opposite direction.

Athena nodded trailing behind her friend. In all honesty she was very tired too.

They swam back in silence, straight on till morning.

"Oh thank goodness" Arika exclaimed as the two of them saw the lagoon up ahead. Arika dashed through the cave entrance, plopping her self down on a seabed for a long needed rest.

Athena sighed, she could not stop thinking about that strange place. Oh forget it, she couldn't stop thinking about Triton. She looked up gazing at the stars wondering if she'd ever get to see him again. She'd made up her mind. She was going to see him again.

Chapter 3

"Oh Peter! Thank goodness you're here" Athena called as Peter Pam flew to perch on the bay of Mermaid Lagoon the next morning.

"What's up Athena?" He smirked raising a brow, "you missed me?" He chuckled playfully.

"Oh Peter" she laughed shaking her head. "I just wanted to ask you something"

"Ok, try me" he said sitting Indian style on the sand.

"Do any other merpeople live in Neverland besides us?" She asked "I thought I'd ask you since you explore a lot more than we do."

"Hmm." He said cocking his head trying to think back. "Nope" he said coming to a conclusion. "Me and Tink have been around Neverland more times than you could count, even in the ocean, and we've never seen any mermaids besides you guys"

"That's odd" Athena mumbled furrowing her brow in confusion.

"Well I gotta go, me and Tink are gonna go to the Mainland" he said matter of factly.

"How do you get there?" Athena asked curiously.

"You just keep flying straight on till morning and you'll get there eventually, just depends on how close Neverland wants to move to the mainland" he shrugged flying off, "don't have all day though!" He called after her, "I'll tell you the stories when I come back!"

Athena waved after him. "The mainland huh" she mumbled to herself. And then it hit her. "So that's where we went" she muttered smiling as the realization came to her. IM GOING BACK BABY!

It was the middle of the night a few days later as Athena swam quietly, keeping a lookout making sure not to wake her friends. She swiftly dived over the border of the lagoon, making sure not to make a splash.

"Have you seen the emerald greens and deep dark turquoise" she sang softly as she swam swiftly through the undersea waves, "Shimmering weeds swaying in the flow. Elegant driftwood bones embrace you, Glimmering fish hook eyes below. I promise you I won't ever let you go" She closed her eyes humming as she swam in the deep gentle sea as it rocked its creatures to sleep. She kept swimming for quite some time as the sun rose and set once again. She flicked her aqua tail picking up speed as she saw the shining yet sleeping castle through the clear water. Her heart pounded with excitement as she swam still faster through the darkness. She slowed her pace as she reached the entrance, stopping behind the rock just as she had last time. She glanced through the entryway hoping to catch a glimpse of Triton.

"Hello?" She whispered as she peered through the elegant arch way, "Triton?"

"ATHENA!!" A familiar voice burst out from behind her. "I thought I'd never see you again!"

Athena spun around bumping right into him as they both rushed towards each other. "Oh Triton!" she exclaimed, flinging her arms around his neck. "I've missed you"

"Really?" He asked in slight surprise, spinning her in the air.

"Of course I did silly" she said squeezing him tighter.

"I've missed you too." He said pressing his cheek against her soft hair. "I thought for sure you'd have forgotten about me." He said as they let go, holding her at arms length.

"Now why would I ever do that?" She laughed.

"Oh believe me, there's plenty of reasons of why you'd do that" he said chuckling, "especially someone as cool as you" he added nudging her shoulder playfully.

Athena blushed a deep crimson, tucking her hair behind her ear. He thinks I'm cool!

"Are you ok though?" He asked deeply concerned, "I didn't want you to get hurt by coming here"

"Yes triton I'm fine." Athena said, "I won't get hurt alright?"

"But what if-"

"No triton, I don't care. I just want to see you again ok?" Athena said defiantly, putting her hands on her hips.

"Oh Athena if I get you killed I don't know what I'd do, just please be careful. Don't die because of a fool like me" he pleaded, shaking his head.

"I will be careful I promise." She said her heart swelling, "I haven't seen a single dangerous thing both times I've come."

"Yet"

"And besides," she added ignoring his remark, "you'd be worth it. You are not a fool"

Triton shook his head sadly in defeat. "Just please promise you'll be careful."

"I will and I have" Athena answered grinning up at him, grasping his hands in her own.

He squeezed her hand gently, giving up. "Anyway, how have you been?" He asked casually, deciding to drop the subject.

"It's been kind of boring at the lagoon to be honest" Athena said, "nothing much has been happening."

Triton chuckled softly, "same here" he yawned loudly, his muscles flexing as he stretched. "Do you think you could show me where Never Land is?"

"Oh I'd love it if you came back with me. it's a really long swim though, it can be up to almost five days of swimming non stop." She said.

"Oh Athena" he gasped "you didn't tell me it was that far away." Triton said looking at her with a petrified look.

"What? You not up for it?" She asked cooly, playfully raising her brow.

"No no of course I'd be up for it, but Athena you need to rest please, you could die of exhaustion" he said gently holding her sides in his grasp. "You're so thin! Come with me and rest. I insist, then we can talk in the morning." He said smiling at her worriedly holding her as if she were made of glass.

"Hey! put me down" she said trying to squirm out of his firm grasp as he lifted her up holding her bridal style.

"I don't think so" triton said in a sing song voice, clucking his tongue playfully.

"TRITON!" She screeched with laughter as he began to tickle her all over. "AAAAAAAAAHAAAHAAAAA"

"SHHHH" triton laughed, trying to cover her mouth, "you'll wake everyone up" he said to her as if he were talking to disobedient child, continuing to tickle her, a mischievous grin on his face. "Cmon Athena quit laughing, stop trying to get me in trouble" he teased playfully.

"You started it!" She gasped between laughs, giving up on trying to get out of his arms. She found she quite liked being in his warm strong arms...

Triton dashed into his room just as a stern, groggy voice from somewhere in the castle yelled at them to shut up.

They both burst into silent laughter as they sat together on the seaweed bead, covering their mouths with one of their hands and clutching each others hands with the other.

"Now you have to sleep or we'll get caught" Triton said as they both took deep breaths and calmed down, letting go of her hand sheepishly.

"Yea, thanks to you" Athena said in a fake annoyed voice, rolling her eyes, pushing his shoulder playfully. "Thank you though" she said turning serious. No one had ever cared for her this deeply before in her whole life.

"It's my pleasure" triton said, shrugging.

Athena looked seriously into his sweet handsome face. Those wonderful blue eyes and his soft red hair tousled lazily on his head. She found herself moving closer to him, her face aligning with his. She was getting strangely close, his red freckles were visible on his roughed tan skin, his adorable dimples on his cheeks were in clear view. His soft blue eyes blinked in what might have been confusion. She didn't care, she kept moving closer. He was saying something but she couldn't hear him. Her heart was pounding so loudly in her chest. Her nose was half a centimeter from his. She could feel his sweet breath on her face. This was too close. But she found she liked it quite a lot.

Chapter 4

Athena hummed softly as she listened to the soft snores of the being beside her. It was very early in the morning and the sun hadn't rose yet. She hugged her seaweed pillow smiling widely to herself. She touched her raw, chapped, puffy lips smiling herself giddy. Gosh he was a brilliant kisser. She wished he would wake up so she could feel his soft lips on hers again and so they could talk some more before she left. She glanced over at him sighing, he is so adorable. His mouth was slightly open his reddened lips parted, his slender eyes closed, his dark lashes visible on his lids. His red hair tousled in an adorable mess around his face, his muscular arms and navy tail sprawled out lazily on the bed. She leaned over kissing him lightly on the mouth, sitting up on the edge of the bed. She felt so refreshed and comfortable, she wanted to curl right back up next to him and go back to sleep, but she knew she had to leave for she didn't want to get Triton in trouble for having a stranger in his bed, even though the only thing they did was kiss. Mmmmmm kissing… what a wonderful thing… But even kissing wasn't good, she shouldn't be here at all, never mind with the prince himself. Athena leaned back over Tritons muscular figure, stroking his chiseled jaw with her fore finger, brushing his hair gently out of his face. She kissed him again, this time longer, taking in his sweet flavor before leaving him again. "Goodbye" she whispered softly, slipping off of the bed and swimming swiftly to the doorway, gazing longingly at him before starting off back to Never Land.

Athena streaked silently down the vast halls of the underwater palace, her face expressionless. She reached the large entryway, and taking a deep breath, swam as fast as she could, straight on till morning.

The sun rose quickly above the horizon, lighting the glittering sea with its warmth. Athena rose to the surface gazing at the soft blue sky that was so like Tritons gorgeous eyes. She felt her lips that were no longer raw from his loving caresses. A small frown edged its way across her face as she dove back under continuing her way back home. Home. What a strange word. What was home anymore? Her heart seemed to split into two. She adored Never Land and her mermaid friends, Arika, Kili. Aolani, Tatianna, and Medora very much, but Triton. Oh Triton. She was head over fins for him. He was so kind, witty, charming and funny, he cared for her so much and not to mention was a brilliant kisser.

"What have you gotten yourself into" Athena mumbled to herself as she swam through a huge mass of kelp.

She shrugged those thoughts off, as she saw the entrance in the side wall of the Lagoon. She flicked her tail speeding through the whole as fast as she could.

"Arika! Arika!" Athena exclaimed, calling for her friend as she popped out of the water in the middle of the lagoon.

"Athena! You're back!" Arika said, flipping off of her rock and swimming towards her her arms open wide. Engulfing her in a big hug. "Where have you been?" She asked worriedly looking into her eyes, holding her shoulders at arms length.

"It's ok Arika I'm ok. Don't worry" Athena said smiling at her friend. "But I have so much to tell you."

"spill the tea!!!" Medora exclaimed, peering over from her basking rock, her dark hair falling loosely over her shoulders.

"Oh please do Athena" Kili said joining her and Arika in the water, flicking her orange tail behind her.

Athena told them everything as the rest of her mermaid friends listened intently. She left out the part about Triton, instead telling them about all the secret places he showed her in the "abandoned" palace. She didn't want to make them jealous and she kind of wanted to keep this little secret for herself.

Once she finished everyone started gossiping about what they thought the castle would have been like before it was "abandoned" and daydreamed about all the charming mermen who would have previously lived their.

Athena laughed and played with them in the water as they sun tanned and gossiped some more. At one point during the day, Peter came by and told them of his own adventures on the mainland.

Soon the soft blue sky turned to a dark purple filled with tiny twinkling stars.

Athena pulled herself up onto the bay of the lagoon, laying on the soft sand, her hair sprawled out around her. "Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me" she sang softly to the midnight air as the breeze blew softly through her hair. She wanted to go back to Atlantica but she felt too guilty to leave her friends so soon. She hummed a sad lullaby resting her head in her arms closing her eyes, drifting slowly off to sleep.

The next few days went by in a flash, she and her friends laughed and talked all day, splashing together in the lagoon. It had been five days since she'd seen triton last and she was longing to be with him again. She was sitting on the shore of the lagoon watching another perfect sunset across the horizon. She sat waiting for dark as the stars began to twinkle in one by one, the warm evening breeze turned to a crisp mid night wind. Athena flicked her tail in the water, looking around making sure everyone was asleep. Once the coast was assured, she dove silently back into the sea. Athena swam straight out of the cave and through more forests of kelp and reefs of coral. Tonight she had only been swimming for a few hours until she had reached the large palace of coral.

She swam up to the same rock, ducking her head behind it. The castle seemed asleep just as usual. She swam to the archway peering inside, "Triton?" She called out softly. "Triton!?" She called again as she swam down the grand entrance way. He must be sleeping this time. After all I haven't come in a long while, he probably wasn't expecting me. She swam up the same flight of stairs that Triton had carried her to, so he could take her to his room. She glanced at all the rooms looking for the familiar one. She swam over to the one at the end of the hall that had blue and green seaweed draped in the doorway where she had slept the last time she was here. She peered in cautiously, moving the curtain of seaweed aside, a smile spreading over her face as she saw him sleeping soundly in his bed, snoring softly.

Athena swam quietly to his bedside, gently nudging him awake. "Triton wake up" she said softly, brushing his hair out of his face. He sure does have a bed head. She thought smiling to herself.

"Athena…? That you?" He mumbled groggily, opening his blue eyes slightly. His face lit up, "hello" he said sitting up quickly beside her. "I've missed that voice" he said smiling, still sleepy eyed, at her.

Athena felt a pang of guilt for leaving without telling him and not seeing him for such a long time. "I've missed you" she said her heart melting at how simply sweet he was. "How have you been?" She asked taking his hand in hers.

"I've been alright, it's just that my sister Ursula has been acting so cold towards me." He said, sadness spreading in his eyes, "I suppose it's because I'm the heir and she isn't"

"Were you and your sister close?" Athena asked, looking up into his sad eyes.

"Yeah, we used to be really close until my father officially made me the future king of Atlantica" he said shaking his head, "and ever since my mother died, fathers never been the same. Father has always been hard on the both of us."

"I'm so sorry" Athena said sympathetically, putting her hand lovingly to his cheek.

"It's ok" Triton said smiling down at her, leaning into her hand, "she died a long time ago" he said "and besides, you make me the happiest man alive, knowing your ok makes up for everything" he said kissing her cheek shyly. "Oh and I almost forgot" he said getting off the bed, "i got something for you" he said blushing, his tanned cheeks turning a light pink.

Athena smiled, blushing furiously. Where did this perfect man come from?

Triton rummaged in a clam shell container in the corner of his elegant room, before pulling out an elegant gold head peace decorated with pearls and gold seashells.

"Oh Triton it's beautiful" Athena said gaping at it as he showed it to her.

"Thank you" Triton said bashfully, "I made it my self" he added as he placed it gently atop her head.

"It's wonderful" Athena smiled, setting it in place on her head.

"You look beautiful" he smiled looking into her eyes.

"Come here Triton, let me tell you a secret" Athena whispered slyly, beckoning him to come closer.

"Ok Athena" Triton said raising his brow playing along with her antics, sitting back down beside her and leaning in to listen. "What is it?"

Athena leaned as close as she could to his face, removing the headpiece delicately from her head, and placing her hands on his cheeks in one swift movement, their lips crashing together once again.

Chapter 5

"Mmmmm" Athena grumbled, "stop that" she said groggily, pushing the large arm off of her face.

Triton, still fast asleep, stretched his huge muscular arms, squashing Athena.

Athena smiled opening her eyes, shaking her head, remembering where she was, Tritons familiar sweet scent coming back to her. You're sure wonderful to sleep with. She thought laughing softly. She moved closer to the muscular body, ducking out from under his arm, pulling herself up to snuggle on his chest. She pressed her nose to his defined abs, taking in his wonderful scent. Her lips chapped and raw, just how she liked it.

Triton grumbled sleepily, a smile spreading across his face, his arms moving to hug Athena to his chest, gently massaging her back.

"mmmmm" Athena moaned sleepily, "that's so good" she whispered, grinning, as tritons rough, but gentle hands kneaded her back softly.

"Not as good as your lips" triton whispered slyly, kissing the top of her head.

"My lips? Ha, your lips are the good ones" Athena whispered, nuzzling closer to his chest.

"Oh I don't think so, you're the good kisser" triton said bantering playfully.

"Nuh uh you are" Athena retorted shaking her head, grinning.

"You make me crazy. You know that?" He said softly, pausing his massage.

"What do you mean?" Athena asked looking up into his soft blue eyes.

"I'd go crazy without you Athena. You make me crazy whenever I hear your beautiful voice. Your lips make me crazy, your laugh makes me crazy, your smile makes me crazy. Athena I am crazy in love with you." He said looking so lovingly into her eyes, his eyes dazed as he looked at this beloved creature he got to call his best friend.

Athena reached her arms around his neck, pressing his lips onto hers. They kissed, long, slow and sweet. "I love you so much" Athena mumbled softly into his mouth.

"I love you more"

"I love you most"

"Impossible."

Athena's heart swelled, sucking his plumped lips tasting his sweet saliva.

Triton pulled back smiling a big sloppy smile.

They heard a loud rap on the door a stern voice saying, "TRITON YOUR NEEDED IN THE GREAT HALL NOW"

"Oh no" Athena gasped bolting upright. "I completely forgot"

"So did I" triton groaned, "time goes way to fast"

Athena shoved him off the bed and over towards the door, "go quick I don't want to get you in trouble" she whispered urgently.

"TRITON FATHER WILL GO BALLISTIC"

"Ok, ok I'm coming" he said loudly, the more quietly said, "come back tomorrow please, and be careful. I'll stay up for you"

"I will" Athena assured him, giving him a gentle kiss on the mouth.

They floated there in the middle of the room, kissing deeply and slowly.

"TRITON FOR THE LAST TIME!"

"I promise I'll be back" Athena whispered, hugging him quickly, breaking regretfully away from his loving grasp. "you make me crazy too" she said as she quickly grabbed her crown from the dresser and swam to the large window, ducking out of site on the outside wall of the palace.

Triton smiled wistfully then opened the curtain door to his room, quickly swimming off to the great hall, following his very annoyed younger sister.

Athena pressed herself to the wall, breathing heavily, smiling to herself. "I'll come back I promise" she said kissing the jewel on the front of the tiara.

Athena started off back towards Neverland, her gift clutched tightly in her hands. This time she swam for only a few hours before she reached the Lagoon.

She swam quietly through the cave, bobbing up to the surface where her friends were basking lazily on the rocks, and had seemingly not noticed her disappearance. Athena flicked her tail and swiftly pulled herself up onto a large warm rock, warming herself in the sun. She glanced longingly into the soft blue sky, wondering if Triton was looking at the same sky wishing to be with her as well.
