"But why don't we get to go?" Plagg whined. Well, he would be whining if he didn't have a hunk of cheese in his mouth. Marinette sighed, put a wrap about her shoulders.
"Say it, don't spray it, Plagg! And you know why, Adrien and I need a date night!" "Translation, they need time away from you!" Tikki munched on a cookie. Adrien gave her a look. "Now, now. We would take you with us, but its going to be so romantic-" he grinned, and Plagg took off to the bathroom. "I think I'm gonna hurl!"
The doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of Nino and Alya, who were to watch Tikki and Plagg while the couple was out. "Thanks for coming by at such short notice," Marinette told Alya, giving her friend a hug. "Luckily Adrien's meeting was canceled, freeing up our evening."
Alya gave her a knowing grin and wink. "Have fun, you two!"
The sun was just starting to set as Adrien and Marinette headed off, down towards the Seine. They loved being married, but now with hectic jobs and schedules, they were trying to spend a least once week together for "a date night."
Tonight's outing was walking along the Seine. "I hope we come across Andre's ice cream cart," Adrien said, longing in his voice, "I could go for a cone." "We're not here for food, silly! We're here to enjoy the sunset and the water!" "Okay, okay. But a cone couldn't hurt, could it?" Marinette giggled.
They fell silent as they walked along the shore, taking in the sound of waves gently lapping at their feet. "Come here, Bugaboo," Adrien said, pulling her close and watching as the sun sunk towards the horizon.
Marinette was happy to be in the warmth of Adrien's arms. "Its very peaceful here," she whispered. "Mm." The streetlights clicked on as the sky grew dusky and Marinette shivered slightly in the chilly night air. Just then, Adrien's stomach let out a growl. "Goodness, someone's hungry," Marinette gave his tummy a poke. "Shall we find that cone, Kitty?"
It didn't take them long, and they sat on a park bench, enjoying the sweet creamy cone, their faces all sticky once finished.
"We should head for home," Adrien said, a bit stubbornly. "Boo," Marinette grumbled. "I wish we could stay out all night. After all, with your night vision we wouldn't get lost." "That is true," Adrien smiled. "But someone I know gets very cranky if they don't get enough sleep." "Hey, you know coffee is my cure all," Marinette teased.
Just as the stars appeared, Marinette and Adrien returned home. "Adrien?" Marinette touched her husband's arm as he took out the key. "Thanks for going on the walk." Adrien nodded.
As Marinette wrote in her diary, she smiled. A walk to remember, she wrote. A walk along the Seine.
