Marinette paced the length of her balcony. Valentine's Day was just a few days away and she wanted to ask him to the Dance at the weekend. There were just two little problems with that idea. One, whenever she was around Adrien she became a shy as a mouse. The other, how could she date a boy without eventually telling him she was Ladybug?! Arrgh, why was love so complicated!
Marinette glared at up the pink sky, shouting, "Cupid, if you really are out there, now would be a great time to shoot me and my partner with an arrow." Having said her piece, Marinette felt a bit silly. Okay, time to calm down, grab a cup of hot chocolate and start homework. Yeah.
She turned, heading for a the trap door when out of nowhere she felt a sharp jab. "Ouch!" she rubbed her backside, but found nothing there. From its secret hiding place, Cupid grinned and headed off to Adrien's.
Cupid stopped in front of the windows, watching Paris teen heartthrob walk back and forth. Huh. These two were made for each other. "Okay, Plagg," Adrien was saying. "I'm going to ask her on a date, and then ask her to the dance. No puns, no goofing around." "The day you don't pun will be the day I don't eat cheese," Plagg mumbled, tearing into some Gouda.
Adrien flopped on the bed. "I just wish Marinette were Ladybug. I love them so much...Ouch!" Cupid nodded, flying off. His work was done.
Next day, Adrien stood watching Marinette put her bags in her locker, and he could feel his palms sweating. Okay, he thought. Chin up, march!
"Hey-hey, Marinette!" Adrien waved, walking up. "Adrien! Good morning!" Marinette squeaked. Oh, bluebells and buttercups, she had done something different with her hair and he really liked it. Two little buns sat onto of her head, and it made Adrien's mouth dry up like the Sahara Desert.
"Er….I was wondering, if you'd like to catch a movie after school?" Adrien internally winced as his voice rose higher and higher. "I'd love to. Though, I've been feeling a bit strange since last night. I wouldn't want to catch anything." "I'll be fine. So, after school?" Marinette nodded.
Adrien waited to he rounded the corner, before punching the air with his fists. Yes, he'd asked her out!
Marinette ran into the bathroom and into one of the stalls. "Tikki, Adrien asked me out! Me! Ah, maybe there really is a cupid out there!" "Just don't be disappointed if a akuma shows up," Her Kwami said.
After school, Marinette waited by the entrance. Soon, she could see Adrien walking towards her and her heart beat a little faster. The light was catching his hair just right, and ah, could this boy be any cuter?
"Ready to go?" Adrien asked. Marinette nodded, surprised when Adrien took her hand. "If that's okay," he said. Marinette nodded, a feeling of peace washing over her. Strange, she felt this way when Cat held her hand after a close moment or when she was upset. Who know Adrien could have the same effect?
Marinette enjoyed the movie, but she secretly liked Adrien's company even more. The life of a superhero could get lonely sometimes. After, Adrien bought her a hot chocolate and they discussed the movie.
Both were sad to see the date end. "So, the school dance is this weekend at the roller rink," Adrien said. "I was wondering if you'd like to go as my date?" Marinette opened her mouth to squeal and say yes, but then she stopped. Cat Noir loomed in the back of her mind. "I'll need to think about it. But I had a lovely time. Thank you."
Adrien felt his heart plummet, but still kept his smile. "Just think about it."
Marinette nodded, and after he left, she scampered up to her room. She had wanted to say yes, so why hadn't she? Cat's face loomed in front of hers and she wondered if she liked Cat just as a friend, or something more.
But it wasn't she could ask Cat if he liked her, right?
