The Zoldyck estate was quiet that evening. The servants had assured that no disturbances would be made on or off the property, silencing the few tourists foolish enough to cause a ruckus and feeding the guard dogs all in one fell swoop.
"Mother..."
Today was an important day for the Zoldyck family, after all.
"When will you be done?"
"Any minute now, my dear Illumi."
Kikyo said with a laugh as she sat at the birthing table, wearing a hospital gown with her eyes hidden by a small visor with a red dot. Their most trusted servant, Tsubone, was at her legs to ensure the birth went successfully as Illumi stood nearby with a blank expression on his pale face. Watching the process of his new brother's birth without so much as a flinch, just a mild hint of interest in the process.
Oh... how wonderful!
It warmed Kikyo's heart to see how cold-hearted her son had become, watching the birth of his own brother with only a vague interest. His training had been going along nicely, and he was only 7! His future as an assassin was a bright one.
I could see his next training session after this.
Kikyo smiled wistfully at the thought before abandoning it because she would have to see her new child after this long and tedious process was over. Would he have black hair like Illumi or white hair like Silva? Would he have blue eyes or black eyes? Oh, all the questions made her excited!
I can't wait for my new child...
Soon, a new assassin would be added to her wonderful family!
To start his training.
Kikyo giggled, putting her hands to her cheeks as she daydreamed. The door opened without much of a sound. A young man with long, dirty white hair and an older man with spiked white hair walked in, their footsteps silent as they entered the room.
"Oh, it still seems to be ongoing?"
Zeno, the older man, said amusedly, with his hands clasped behind his back. This caught the attention of Kikyo and Illumi, who turned to the new arrivals. Kikyo gave a giddy smile, still stuck in her daydreams, as Illumi spoke flatly.
"Did my birth take this long?"
"No," Silva said with a straight face, his slit eyes sharpening as he saw Tsubone reach towards his wife's lower section, "Although it wasn't far off."
Illumi merely tilted his head at the news before turning around and seeing Tsubone pull out a newborn baby. Covered in blood and fluids that were not its own, it released a loud wail that filled the minor operating room. Until Tsubone took it to a small bucket of water and wiped it clean while informing the family, "The birth was successful."
"Wonderful!"
Kikyo said excitedly, sitting up without a hint of discomfort before she turned to look at Tsubone, who had brought back a clean baby with black hair wrapped in cloth, its eyes shut as it wailed loudly. Tsubone handed the baby to Kikyo, who gushed as she poked it and prodded it with her fingers, "Oh, how cute! Look at you; you have such strong lungs."
They'll be suitable for when he needs to learn our breathing techniques. Ooh, and black hair, just like Illumi! They could get along and have missions together, it'll be a good experience for if they get hired to work on group assassinations.
Kikyo smiled at the thought as she opened the baby's mouth and checked its bones, testing its body while the others watched. Illumi had a vague interest in his new younger brother, mainly because the idea of having a little human that somewhat looked like him without using his needles was interesting.
He has black hair like I do...
Illumi scanned the baby with black hair and black eyes, deciding he'd wait a bit to come up with his final conclusions regarding his new sibling. Preferably, when the tiny thing stopped crying, that would need to be a habit removed if he wanted to be an assassin. A good one anyways.
I could train him a bit if they let me.
Illumi tilted his head at the thought, getting pulled out of his thoughts as Kikyo invited him over to see his new little brother. Illumi accepted the invitation, leaving Silva and Zeno to watch from a distance, with Zeno sharing the first words after a careful observation.
"The baby seems to be healthy."
"Healthy does not always equal useful," Silva said with a frown, his eyes narrowed as he used Gyo to study the baby's potential. A slight frown on Silva's face as he turned to his father and voiced his blatant disappointment, "His talent is on the low side for a Zoldyck, much lower than his brother's."
"It would seem that way."
Zeno said with a shrug, having also used Gyo to see the baby's inner workings. It wasn't terrible, not enough to warrant a swift execution, but it wasn't good either. The baby lacked any physical features found in Zoldyck's, like dagger sharp nails or total flexibility of the joints. The only thing saving it was it's nen, which was average for a Zoldyck's lineage if not a little on the low side.
"He could be a good lamb."
Zeno said offhandedly, turning to Silva, who only frowned in response. It was apparent to Zeno that Silva had wanted a child like himself, a prodigy with white hair and blue eyes, to carry on the lineage of the Zoldycks. Instead, he got another child resembling Kikyo, with black hair and pitch-black eyes looking around in fright...
Wait...
Was the baby scared?
I must be mistaken.
Zeno furrowed his brows at the thought, narrowing his eyes on the child, who seemed to be looking around frantically. Zeno ignored Silva's movements to take a closer look at the child. He put his hand to his chin and used Gyo to watch the baby wriggle around and cry. Its eyes frantically looked around before the two minuscule orbs stopped on Zeno.
Oh?
The orbs didn't stay on Zeno for long; they flicked to Silva as the father took his new child in his hand for a rough inspection. Silva and the rest of the family roughly talked of the child's potential future in the family while Zeno gave a small smile.
How peculiar...
It was only for a second, even less than that, but he had seen it. An unconscious spike in nen that only meant one thing.
This one may be interesting, after all.
The newborn was scared of him, and any child bright enough to realize the threat he posed was worth watching.
Being reborn was not what he had in mind when he died, strapped to an IV and watching his life flatline. Being reborn as a baby in the Zoldyck family was even more of a surprise, mainly since the first thing he heard and saw when he opened his eyes painted a... scary picture of his future.
Ah! Shit, is that a robot? Oh wait, that's Kikyo. Wait, Kikyo? Am I in Hunter X Hunter? Why? And why is she staring at me like that? Why is she saying my bones will be good because they don't bruise easily!? What does that even mean?
It was all a terrifying surprise if he was being honest, like waking up in a nightmare and looking for a way out and desperately searching around the surgery room with assassins at every corner that could and probably would kill him in an instant.
Who's she talking to? Ah! Where'd he come from!?
All the while, his baby lungs cried beyond his control.
Why are they all so silent! Wait, is that Illumi? He looks young. Wait, why is Illumi asking if I'm durable? I don't want to be durable! Stop trying to see if I'm durable!
Which was a shame, too, because he was reborn in his favorite anime: Hunter X Hunter.
Please help me! I'm stuck in a baby's body! You, uh- Tsubone! Help me! Why are you just looking at me like I'm a lost cause? Don't give up on me, dammit!
It was right up there with JJK and FMAB, but even better because seeing two kids live out the adventures he'd never had was incredible to someone like him, who spent most of his life sick in the hospital.
Agh, I'm so screwed! There's gotta be someone else... You! Old man- shit, is that Zeno!? Why is Zeno just staring at me? Eep! Shit, why'd he smile!?
The only problem was he'd been born into the Zoldyck family, a family of assassins that trained children with torture and other questionable parenting methods. On the one hand, this was bad because, based on how Silva looked at him like he wished children came with receipts, he wouldn't be lasting long in this new family.
Why's Silva picking me up!? Shit, he looks pissed! Please don't kill me! Please don't kill me! I just got reborn in a healthy body! At least let me live for a bit! Like a day, or a couple of years, or at least until I meet Killua!
On the other hand, Killua was his favorite character, and being his sibling sounded awesome. He didn't know where Killua was, but considering Illumi was here, he couldn't be far away. If he would die again, he wanted to meet his favorite character before returning to the endless void.
"This one will... suffice. Take him Kikyo."
"Of course Silva."
Although now that he thought about it, Illumi was a little on the young side.
"I can't wait to raise my new assassin! He has my hair and eyes but he'll need a name... Illumi, do you want to name it since it looks like you? You'll probably be helping him train, too."
Killua might not even be born yet.
"...that's fine, Mother..."
That meant...
"...how about, Milluki."
He was fucked.
"Milluki Zoldyck."
So unbelievably fucked.
