Hello and welcome to another experimental fanfic of My Hero Academia, in which a new inspiration popped into my head in an unexpected way, which happened in a sudden way, and this new inspiration would be different from the ones I upload recently.

This all started when I came across a website where you can download NES ROM games as I already have a NES emulator on my smartphone, and while browsing I came across a very familiar game that I played way back during the 8-bit era (NES/Famicom). That game was Spartan X, which I happened to play it decades ago on the Nintendo Famicom console, and while I did play and enjoyed it, I had difficulty trying to get past Stage 3, and after a few years of trying to get past it I sort of give up.

Decades later, when the NES emulator came to light, especially in smartphones, I decided to give it another shot, and to my pleasant surprise it has a built-in cheat codes, which I immediately took the chance and found codes, such as INFINITE HEALTH, and thus I now have the means to finish Spartan X, and finally made it to the last stage.

This inspired me to come up with a way to make a fanfiction, and My Hero Academia came to mind and decided to try combining the two series and thus I was able to conceive the initial plot.

Given that Spartan X is like a combination of fighting and Shoot 'Em Up, I thought of how to apply it on this fic, and after re-playing the Spartan X game on my smartphone again, I finally got the ideas needed, like how to apply the character elements of Thomas and Sylvia (the characters of Spartan X), and this narrows down to Midoriya and Melissa Shield, which I felt that it fits in.

Well then, read on and enjoy!

Ch. 1: Prologue

Ten years ago…

The scene shifts at an apartment, where a five-year old boy, sporting green, curly hair and having a freckled face, is watching a live footage on his computer, where several pro heroes are seen doing heroic deeds like stopping crime and saving people. The little boy is so fixated that he aspires to become a hero himself when he grows up.

The boy is identified as Izuku Midoriya, and he appeared to be an avid fan of pro hero All-Might. As the little boy is watching in awe and admiration, his mother, Inko, smiled as she felt that her son has found inspiration, and there the little boy told his mom that he wants to become a hero like All-Might, which his mom smiled and said he would one day become one.

"Mom! Look!"

"Yes?"

"All-Might is amazing, right?"

"Yes, izuku."

"Can I become like him?"

"I'm sure you would."

"I'm going to become a hero when I grow up!"

"Yes, Izuku."

But one day, as fate would make itself apparent, the Midoriya family, specifically Inko and Izuku, learned from a doctor that Izuku is Quirkless, and told Inko that they should just give it up, and accept the fact that Izuku is just an ordinary boy and can never become a pro hero, which Inko was in disbelief, asking the doctor how is this possible as she and her husband possess Quirks.

However, the doctor said that Izuku is one of the rare cases where he is born Quirkless and tells her that Izuku should just become an ordinary citizen, attend an ordinary school and live an ordinary life, and tells her that this is how life is, nothing more.

Izuku is heart-broken at this as he feels that his dreams will never be achieved and Inko consoled her son, seeing that he is depressed at this and apologized to her son, though all he could do is cry silently at this as he is forced to face the harsh truth and reality.

"M-mom…"

"Izuku…?"

"C-can…I…still be…a hero…?"

"Izuku…"

"…"

"Oh, Izuku! I'm sorry!"

"…"

"I'm sorry!"

At the years passed by, Midoriya's status as a Quirkless became known to his neighborhood, and neighborhood bullies uses their Quirk to torment him, mentally, and physically, to the point of badly injuring him, and as a battered and bleeding Midoriya lay on the ground, the bullies are ready to inflict more harm on the hapless boy, seeing that he could not fight back due to lacking a Quirk.

"Hah!"

"Look at that!"

"He really is Quirkless!"

"He couldn't even retaliate!"

"You're a loser!"

"You should commit suicide!"

"Yeah, you're a failure!"

"A trash!"

The bullies then began kicking Midoriya so hard that negative emotions began building up, as the bullying continues, and at one point one of the bullies began to kick their target on his BALLS, causing him to scream out in pain, and the bullies laughed at this and tells him to scream even more, as it is music to their ears.

They kicked him there even more as they taunted him for being a geek who couldn't stand up for himself and for being an otaku whop is nothing special.

"Hah!"

"Take that!"

"And that!"

"You Quirkless brat!"

"Just stay down and die!"

"Stay at home and never come out!"

"You'll just be a punching bag!"

"And we'll be enjoying it!"

This made Izuku's childhood life unmemorable and Inko tried hard to make her son realize that all is not lost and that she is sure that something good is bound to happen and that a bright tomorrow awaits him and he shouldn't give up on life.

Inko's love for her son proved to be the factor that made Izuku hold on and persevere the challenges that came and he fought the misfortunes that tried to pull him down, and so far he is able to move past the fact that he is born Quirkless.

The present time…

Several months ago, just a few weeks after the Provisional Hero License Exams, nearly all members of Class 1-A passed and got their provisional hero licenses, with Shoto Todoroki and Katsuki Bakugo being the only ones who failed, and a few days later Class 1-A, sans Todoroki and Bakugo, scrambled to find a way to intern under a hero agency in order to participate in the upcoming Work Studies.

Ochako Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui got interned under Ryukyu courtesy of Nejire Hado, while Eijiro Kirishima got interned under Fat Gum thanks to Tamaki Amajiki, which the latter and Hado are sidekicks to the aforementioned pro heroes, while Midoriya is struggling to find one and contacted Gran Torino, only to be turned down, yet the elderly pro hero told Midoriya to talk to All Might, saying that he can introduce Midoriya to Sir Nighteye's agency.

Through All Might and Mirio Togata, Midoriya got interned to Nighteye and along with Togata, as well as with Uraraka, Asui and Kirishima, with Hado and Amajiki, they conducted a surprise raid on the Shie Hassaikai hideout in order to rescue an innocent child identified only as Eri, and though the battle was chaotic and life-threatening, the heroes persevere, but it comes with a heavy price.

Nighteye was mortally wounded, and despite Recovery Girl's efforts, he could not be saved, and as All Might arrived, he and Nighteye reconcile, just as a weeping Togata urged Nighteye to live, reasoning that he has a lot to learn from the pro hero.

"Sir! Please! Don't die!"

"Togata…"

"You got to live!"

"…"

"Please teach me more! I have a lot to learn from you!"

"I…"

"Please, Sir! Fight! Live!"

"…"

Nighteye comforted his sidekick as he uses his Quirk, and told Togata that he will become a fine pro hero, and as Nighteye glanced at Midoriya and uses his Quirk, he stared wide-eyed as he discovered something, and realized that Midoriya is about to encounter a situation in the future, and attempted to give hints, but his body gave out and he mentally hoped that Midoriya would be prepared as the road leading ahead would surely test Midoriya's resolve.

As Nighteye passed away, everyone inside mourned his death, with Midoriya and Togata being affected the most.

A week later…

Chinatown.

An ethnic enclave of Chinese people located outside mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan, most often in an urban setting. Areas known as "Chinatown" exist throughout the world, including Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Middle East.

The largest Chinatown in Asia and one of the largest in the world is located in Yokohama and the city of Kobe has a growing Chinatown. Nagasaki's Chinatown was founded in 1698 AD. Most Chinese immigrants in Japan were from Taiwan who arrived during the Japanese colonial period.

This Ikebukuro District of Tokyo is home to many ethnic Chinese who arrived in the 1980s. Though in Tokyo, this Chinatown is quite small and unannounced than the Yokohama's Chinatown just to the south of the city

Chinese restaurants in Japan serve a fairly distinct style of Chinese cuisine. Though in the past Chinese cuisine would have been primarily available in Chinatowns such as those in port cities of Kobe, Nagasaki, or Yokohama, Japanese-style Chinese cuisine is now commonly available all over Japan. As Japanese restaurants often specialize in just one sort of dish, cuisine is focused primarily on dishes found within three distinct types of restaurants: ramen restaurants, dim sum houses, and standard Chinese-style restaurants.

Recently some of the aforementioned Chinatown areas are being besieged by Chinese and Japanese gangsters who routinely committed extortion activities on hapless Chinatown residents for protection money and those who refused will be CURSED BY THE GODS.

At first the residents did not believe them, but in recent days they began to cower in fear and are forced to do the gangsters' bidding and became despaired due to feeling hopeless, as they believe that they were CURSED, and resigned to fate.

However one resident tried to rally his fellow Chinatown residents but they were too scared to react and said they rather submit their earnings to the gangsters rather than being cursed.

"No way."

"I don't want to be cursed."

"I want to live."

"I rather lose money than being cursed for life…"

"Forget it."

"We can't fight them."

"They're too much."

"Yeah."

Seeing that his fellow Chinatown neighbors have submitted themselves to intimidation, he thought fast on how to get help but knew that the gangsters have police protectors backing them, but then something came to mind and he hurriedly leave Chinatown to meet with someone.

However, he is noticed by the Japanese-Chinese gang members and are about to go after him, but one member said it is okay as his AGENT will deal with the rebel, which the others realize what their fellow gangster meant.

"I see."

"You're right."

"I get it."

"Of course."

"A good idea."

"Let's do it."

"Hurry."

"Right."

A few days later, it was Friday, and Midoriya finally got a free time after Nezu made a sudden announcement that UA Academy won't be having classes today, which the UA students are fine with it and there Midnight decided to have Midoriya sent on an errand and instructed him to head for Chinatown, telling him to buy something for her.

At the same time he received a Messenger message from Melissa Shield that she would be visiting Japan today and the two teens agreed to meet up at Chinatown which is in Yokohama, and there Midoriya immediately left Heights Alliance and made a brief stop at UA Academy where Midnight instructed Midoriya on what to do once he arrive at Chinatown.

"Okay…here is what you're going to do…"

"Oh…that's what I'm…?"

"Yup. So make sure that you bring it back with you…"

"Oh…okay."

"So are we clear now…?"

"Yes."

"Okay. You may go now."

"Thanks, Midnight-sensei. I'm heading off."

After that Midoriya left and an undetermined amount of time passed and Midoriya finally arrived at Chinatown, where he sweat-dropped at the sight before him, as he didn't expect to see Chinatown to be this busy at this time of the day.

The scene shifts further within the Chinatown area of Yokohama, as you can see that there are lots of stalls and stores selling Chinese-made products, and many are flocking the stalls to buy the products despite some of the customers are Japanese, and they find interest in buying some of the products made from China.

As you can see, despite the stalls not being much extravagant, business in Chinatown is doing well.

"Hey, please come here!"

"We are selling very good items!"

"We are offering 70% discount!"

"They are very cheap to buy!"

"Free trial!"

"Offer goods while supplies last…"

"Please come over!"

"We will assist you!"

Perhaps the most prominent products being a hot commodity from the stalls are products that are associated with Feng Shui, and other Chinese products that are connected to fortune telling and luck charms, which eventually became the talk of Chinatown, despite the fact that the current season is summer.

The Chinese merchants began to promote selling fruits and other products and claimed that they are well-suited for any occasion of the season as they can bring good luck to those who buy the fruits and products, which attracted and piqued the curiosities of the shoppers.

"Come over here!"

"We sell any items suited for any season! Spring...summer...Christmas...you name it!"

"They are cheap to buy!"

"We offer good luck charms!"

"Good for summer and Christmas!"

"Have a look!"

"I am sure you will like it!"

"Free trial here!"

Midoriya sweat-dropped again as the merchants noticed Midoriya and attempted to entice him to buy their products, which they made a demonstration which they hoped that Midoriya would be impressed and consider buying their products as well as offering discounted prices.

"Come over here!"

"We sell any items suited for any season! Spring...summer...Christmas...you name it! We have them!"

"They are cheap to buy! Very affordable, so please have a look!"

"We offer good luck charms! Very good for those who want something LUCKY!"

"Good for summer and Christmas! Heck even for spring and Halloween!"

"Come and have a look! You might like them!"

"I am sure you will like it! So buy my items!"

"Free trial here! You won't regret it!"

Midoriya sweat-dropped once more as the merchants are trying hard to entice him, but then someone appeared and gently tapped him on his arm, and there Midoriya turn around to see who it was, and he was surprised to see who just tapped his arm.

It was Melissa, and soon the two teens meet up, where she hugged him in a friendly way, as she is glad to see him, and while he blushed deeply, as he wasn't as shy as before, but for some reason he felt shy like their first meeting, and reluctantly hugged her in return, and there she led him to an outdoor where the two are alone.

There Melissa asked for details on what happened to All Might and how Midoriya is doing after watching the news report about him battling Kai Chisaki and his organization, and there he told her about his encounter with Chisaki, along with rescuing a six-year old girl named Eri, how she is forcefully used by Chisaki to make Quirk-erasing bullets, sir Nighteye sacrificing his life to save Midoriya and Eri, and everything else.

Melissa was quite surprised at seeing that Midoriya remained in one piece and that All Might is no longer involved in fighting villains, and she asked him if he is okay now after such a grueling battle.

"I'm fine, Melissa-san. I'm fine."

"Really?"

"Yes. Really."

"…"

"Don't worry. I'm okay…All Might is okay, so you have nothing to worry about."

"Deku…"

"It's okay, Melissa-san…"

"…"

After hearing that he is okay, Melissa finally told Midoriya that her father told her about what All Might went through, that he was carrying such a burden just before finally defeating All For One, and said that had she known about this earlier, specifically during his visit at I-Island months ago, she could have come up with a way to help him and not force him to expend his remaining Quirk.

Midoriya was surprised that Melissa somehow learned most of the truth and now she is feeling guilty and regret, and not wanting her to get the emotional burden on All Might's forced retirement he gently held her hand and assured to her that she is not to be blamed and that All Might did what he had to do, reasoning that he was already prepared for this and even said that the now-retired pro hero has no regrets.

Midoriya even said that All Might told him that the future of the symbol of peace lies within the next generation of heroes and that he will support UA from behind the scenes, and even said that despite losing his Quirk, All Might never loses his smile.

"I'm fine, Melissa-san. I'm fine."

"Really?"

"Yes. Really."

"…"

"Don't worry. I'm okay…All Might is okay, so you have nothing to worry about."

"Deku…"

"It's okay, Melissa-san…"

"…"

Melissa was quite moved by what she heard, yet she still felt emotional about her father's friend now forced to abdicate his role as a pro hero, and feels down, and began to embrace him as she still feels that she could have done something to help All Might. Midoriya blushed again yet he can sympathize with her and hugged her in response, telling her that it is okay and told her not to let the recent events get to her, reiterating that it is not her or anyone's fault.

The two teens remained in an embrace as Midoriya continued to give her emotional support and the hug lasted for some minutes until she eventually felt quite better, and as she moved back, she stared at the boy and slowly felt into a trance, as she suddenly took notice of his looks, as she unknowingly felt a sudden attraction towards the boy.

Likewise, Midoriya was taken aback at seeing Melissa up close, seeing that she is not wearing her glasses and began to take notice of her beauty. Both stared at each other for several seconds before she unknowingly lean forward and gently pressed her lips against his, and a kiss is formed, which the younger boy unknowingly moved his lips as it matches her movement.

The kiss was innocent and neither teens are aware of what they are doing, as emotional moment took hold of them, until both snapped out of their trance and slowly moved their heads back, where they finally realized what they just did, and blushed furiously in reply.

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

"…"

It took several seconds before Midoriya is the first to reply, and apologized for TAKING ADVANTAGE of her even though he did not do anything as he only respond to the kiss she made, yet Melissa stated that she is the one who's at fault, saying that she did not know what got into her yet Midoriya insisted that he was the one yet she insisted that it was her.

"S-sorry, Melissa-san…"

"No, Deku…it's my fault…"

"But I…"

"It was me who…"

"I'm guilty…"

"I'm the one to be blamed…"

"Um…"

"Ah…"

After that, the two began to giggle, feeling foolish at bickering over something yet both blushed as they accidentally got their first kiss, and Midoriya is suddenly confused on how and why this happened, and now emotions filled his head as he wondered if he developed feelings for Melissa as he couldn't believe that he got attracted to her all of the sudden.

Likewise, Melissa wondered why she did that, as she sees Midoriya as a friend and confidant when it comes to All Might, and now she finds attraction towards him after seeing him again after several months after the hostage situation at I-Island.

By then she changed the subject and asked what made him decided to come here at Chinatown and he told her the reason why, which Melissa nodded and as the two are chatting something caught their attention when they saw a Chinese immigrant being chased by Chinese gangsters and he was eventually cornered and the gangsters are threatening him with harm if he doesn't do as told.

"N-no…stay back…!"

"Give it up already!"

"Yeah, come along quietly!"

"Or you'll get what's coming!"

"I told you! I won't go back! I don't want to have anything to do with him!"

"You fool! Do you really wanna die?"

"You got a death wish?"

"You know what happens if anyone dare defy him!"

Midoriya noticed that the Chinese immigrant is a senior citizen and that he appeared to be haggard and distressed, and there Melissa noticed that the merchants within Chinatown appeared to be hesitant to react, as if they are fearful if they attempted to intervene, and there she whispered to Midoriya about it and he nodded before telling her to wait here while he addresses the situation.

There Midoriya confronted the Chinese gangsters and told them to stop harassing their fellow countryman and to stop whatever illegal activities they are planning to do here, which only pissed off the gangster squad leader and there he gave his subordinates a strict instruction on what to do next.

"Okay, you know the drill. We bring this fool and take back to the boss…take him back by any means. As for the kid in front of us…feel free to do anything. Kill him if you have to in order to prevent him from calling help. Then we take the idiot and make a quick getaway. Kill anyone who dare try to oppose us."

"Yes sir!"

"Yes sir!"

"Yes sir!"

"Once we accomplish our task…we will be rewarded…and we will be praised…that is what our boss ordered us to do for the Chinese mafia!"

"Yes sir!"

"Yes sir!"

"Yes sir!"

To Be Continued...

Hope you liked this chapter, as the first part mirrored Midoriya's early childhood struggles of being Quirkless, to his first work studies and his battle with Chisaki and the death of Sir Nighteye, which took place during the first half of My Hero Academia season 4 anime…though it diverges significantly by having the aftermath take place at Yokohama where Midoriya goes on an errand in Chinatown and coincidentally meets up with Melissa Shield, and the two suddenly got into a ROMANTIC moment, only to be interrupted by an incident which Midoriya was compelled to do something…

This is just the start and the next upcoming chapters would begin the actual story where the Spartan X elements would come in…

Preview:

The next chapter kickstart the story as Midoriya goes into action…and that's where this fic's villain makes his debut and would develop a grudge against Midoriya…

See you next month…
