"There's so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the hero… never gets to see that ending. …They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. …Ain't that a bitch?"
"When it goes off, I'll be fine. It only affects computers, remember? And I am a motherfuckin' ghost."
All the AI were dead. All in one tragic accident or another, but unlike most things this tortured and used AI got a second chance. One that involved being put on a planet that wasn't space faring, they were barely even surviving. But, Alpha was ready for the challenge, or he was, until he discovered he was put into a fifteen year old's body.
Church woke up, he remembered a lot, not but everything. He could tell there were blank spots surrounding Tex and Carolina. The more he tried to remember, the more his damn head hurt. Church looked at his new body. He was naked, or should he say she? Nope, he was gonna stick with he, that's what he was after all.
Church glanced around, he saw trees, bushes, the sky, and a man with a white cloak, just staring at him. "The fuck do you want?"
It had been two years since Church ended up in this universe, on the planet called Remnant. He ended up living with a Ruka Rose, the man that Church now called dad. -Ruka had forced it on him- Ruka wanted to name Church, Summer, because Church had actually played it smart for once and went with he didn't remember anything. Ruka had somehow won the argument, making Church's first name, Summer. So Church was named Summer Church Rose, but of course he went by Church, only Ruka called him Summer. Church remembered the day he got his new name clearly. And not just because he still operated like an AI.
"Summer is not a good name, Church is way better."
"Church is a male name and it doesn't abide by the color naming rule, that we have been going by for over fifty years."
"It's so fucking stupid!"
"You're being named Summer, end of discussion."
"That's not the end of the discussion. The end of the discussion is me taking a fucking leap off the fucking cliff if you name me Summer!"
"Okay, have it your way, you'll be named Summer Church Rose."
"Fuck you! Fuck your family! Fuck the town! And fuck the whole fucking world!"
Oh yeah, that was a good conversation. It got even better when Ruka made it official that he was Summer Church Rose. Church actually did take a leap off the cliff, or at least tried to, Ruka wouldn't let him actually go through with it.
Church right now, was on his way to Beacon academy, waiting on an airship, it would probably take several hours to actually get to Beacon.
Church looked at his outfit. It was a source of pride with him, as Ruka usually won all the arguments, but Church had managed to win this one. Church wore black combat boots, dark blue leggings, white shorts, a cobalt blue form fitting short sleeved T shirt, black leather bracers, and a white cloak. The cloak was Ruka's idea and Church didn't actually hate it; the cloak reminded him of his ghost self, as he was white like most ghosts. Church's hair was Ruka's idea. Long hair that went to Church's mid back. Church kept the hair in a high ponytail instead of the braid Ruka had wanted. Like normal, Ruka had almost won that argument. How Ruka could actually win the arguments, Church had no idea.
Church shook his head, clearing himself from those thoughts. It was pointless to try and understand how Ruka could play people like a violin.
Church looked around the airship, it was rather empty, something that surprised him as Beacon Academy was the most prestigious academy. Don't get him wrong, he loved the peace and quiet, but he was just expecting lots of people.
Church hummed, turning to the window. Maybe he was just one of the first stops? That would make sense.
Two hours later, a blonde-haired man slammed down into the seat next to him. Church looked away from him.
'Please don't make conversation. Please don't make conversation.'
Church's pleas went unheard. Or some sick being was playing a joke on him. The blonde-haired man turned to him.
"Hey."
Church turned away from him, and stared out the window, but the guy clearly wasn't done.
"I'm Taiyang Xiao Long. You are?"
Church kept his mouth closed, if he opened it he would start yelling. After all this guy stole his fucking voice!
"I'm gonna guess your name is like Hot Stuff or something like that. So did I guess correctly? Miss?"
Church turned his head sharply to Tai. "Annoyed, fucking annoyed." Then turned back to the window. The view wasn't interesting, but it kept him from punching or tackling Tai. He already hated the guy, and he didn't even know him, that's how annoying he was.
Tai faked being hurt. "I was just trying to make conversation." Tai held his hands to his chest for emphasis.
"Wrong side of your fucking chest."
Church spared him a glance, before turning away. This guy reminded him of Tucker. No, that's an insult to Tucker, he had his good parts. Like when the two could just chill and have a beer together.
'I just hope to god that there isn't going to be a Caboose double.'
Tai frowned, "oh come on, throw me a bone."
Church glared at Tai. "If I tell you will you stop fucking talking?" Tai nodded. "Church, my name's Church."
Tai frowned, "What kind of name is Church?"
Church glared. "Fuck you too!" Then turned away from Tai.
'Should've known that he wouldn't go away.'
Tai scoffed playfully. "Please, Church is a male name and you're obviously female." Tai gestured to Church's chest and Church held up his middle finger.
The rest of the ride was the same. On the plus side, they had managed to get everyone out of the airship in quite the hurry.
Beacon Academy was just like Church pictured. Big grand architecture made to wow and impress people. Plus, the snobby rich kids who could barely hold a weapon, how those kids even got into the academy was another mystery.
Church… and Tai made their way to the amphitheater, where the headmaster would give a speech.
"If you do not shut the fuck up! I will hit you, a fucking lot of times!"
Church gripped his head, trying to think. Tai just did not shut up. Right now, was one of the times Church wished he was a robot, so he could just turn off his ears, it would be so much simpler.
Church settled into his chair and waited, closing his eyes, pretending to be asleep.
He had enough memories for three lifetimes. Oh wait, he did! Plus the two years he had been on Remnant. So this place wasn't really nerve wracking. He was a soldier, if this got to him then he was a pretty pathetic soldier. Well, okay, he wasn't the best soldier. His time in Blood Gulch proved that. But he tried, and at least now he was a complete badass with the sniper rifle. Sure, he was an absolutely shit shot with any other gun. But hey, he wasn't going to look this gift horse in the mouth.
By the time Ozpin started his speech, Church was half asleep. He listened to the whole thing and he would never forget it. He's an AI, they don't forget things.
Church and Tai made their way to where they would be sleeping for the night. It was a ballroom, but was temporarily being used for a giant slumber party. Great.
Luckily for Church, it was separated. Boys on one side, girls on the other. Which meant Tai had to leave his side. Unfortunately, they had gotten there slightly later then the others, so they didn't get a big selection on where to sleep. Church and Tai were only separated by two people. Church wanted a hundred between them.
Church sighed in relief, the two people between him and Tai were loud and obnoxious, meaning he wouldn't be able to hear a thing Tai said. Church grinned, then settled in for the night.
