It has been one month since the Mirage Express Incident, and one month since Tails the Fox has left Sonic's side. For the last seven years, Tails has been accompanying Sonic on his countless adventures and innumerable missions to save the world. But the Fox has decided to go his own way for the time being. While the time with Sonic was the best time of his life, Tails knows he has grown all that he can in the Hedgehog's shadow. Besides, Sonic is still recovering from the Cyberspace Corruption that rocked his body on the Starfall Islands and someone has to be on the lookout for problems that need solving in the world.
Things have been oddly peaceful. Tails vividly remembered Eggman, the lunatic genius, speaking of his 'Egg Fleet,' but none of the ships have been spotted. Not on the move, not docked anywhere, not even in the solar system. The mad scientist even let his trains be disassembled and the railways liberated without a fight. Everyone knew he was plotting something, and few were more worried about than Tails was. Even when he wasn't actively trying to conquer the world or playing god, he was either stealing resources or getting them off the black market. But Eggman had been totally silent, aside from the train fiasco during Amy's birthday, even then he had no part in orchestrating that incident.
"Miles," Tails' new copilot spoke, "I've spotted a detachment of Eggman Robots on a island East-Southeast of here. It looks like they're on the move."
"Good catch, Nicole," Tails praised, "Looks like we finally have the chance to field-test out Pteropodidae's weapons."
Tails was getting excited; he finally had the chance to show Sonic and the rest of the world how far he had come and how much further he could go. While Tails knew one could never know what to expect when dealing with Eggman, he really had no idea what he was getting himself into this time.
AUTHOR'S NOTES-
Hello readers, 0v3rL04d here. I will designate the end of a chapter with a Horizontal Rules and big bold text that says "author's notes" in full caps. I will be using them to give some of my own thoughts as well as to clarify somethings in each chapter or answer questions I don't think will be left unanswered in the story itself. Horizontal Rules will also be used to designate a change in perspective or as the start and end of flash backs. I don't know if this story will have flash backs in it, but I felt the need to state that is something else the Horizontal Rule will be for. I tried using two Horizontal Rules in a row, but the website just assumes that it's a mistake a 'corrects' it by erasing one of them.
Something else I will mention, the Frontiers DLC is not cannon to this. I started writing this on Word well before that came out and I don't want to overhaul everything I've already written to fit that in. I also haven't completed the DLC and don't know if I even like it. The games are all cannon to this, but IDW isn't. I know they've said IDW is cannon to the games, but this is fanfiction and not everyone has read IDW or has the ability to do so. You can look up anything from the games on various websites and not everything from each game will even be mentioned in this story. Besides, there are some things from the IDW comics I want to play with later on and would have to break their cannon to do it.
