Chapter 2
Author's note: This chapter will be a little short and quick. Really bad writer's block for months. Hope you enjoy.
In the middle of the Lightspeed Aqua Base that was deep underwater, an alarm started blaring.
Navy sailors in uniforms began running while holding weapons. Along with a team who wore special jackets that identified them. Everyone had an ID badge on their chest. This special team consisted of a firefighter, a whale trainer, a mountain climber, and a daredevil pilot in a cowboy hat, as well as a member of Lightspeed who was also training to be a doctor.
They all arrived at the command center of the base.
"Captain Mitchell, what's the problem?" asked Chad Lee.
"We've picked up an unusual signal outside of the city." said the commander of the base, Captain William Mitchell.
"I don't get it, what's going on?" asked Joel Rawlings.
"It seems to be a temporal disturbance." said Miss Fairweather. "Probably caused by my attempted upgrade of the Max Solar Zord."
"As far as we can tell, it seems that something, has been pulled through time to our present." said Captain Mitchell.
"Pulled through time?" asked Kelsey Winslow. "From where?"
"Past or future, we are not certain." said Miss Fairweather.
"Then we will check it out and Report back." said Carter Grayson taking charge.
That's when the alarm started blaring again.
"Hang on. We got another problem. Monster attack. Outside of the city. Heading for the outer residential area." said Dana Mitchell as she stood over the console looking at the screen.
"Looks like the investigation of the temporal anomaly will have to wait." said Captain Mitchell.
"We're on it." said Joel Rawlings.
5 years earlier, on the moon
"What in the world happened!?" Demanded Lord Zedd.
"I don't know Ed. But it seems like some kind of spatial anomaly opened up and absorbed both the ninja Megazord and Diamond Alligator." said Rito Revolto.
"THAT'S ZEDD!" said Lord Zedd as he corrected his brother-in-law again for the hundredth time.
"Patience Zeddy." said his wife Rita repulsa. "I think I know what happened. That was no doubt some kind of time portal. And has transported both the ninja Megazord and the Rangers and Diamond Alligator not just for another place but another time."
"I liked that monster." said Lord Zedd. "I want it back. Plus with the Rangers gone Earth is now defenseless. If they can find a way to return to the present then we will have to deal with them as we always have, I think we should try and follow them through the portal and make sure that they never return to the present."
"And I think I have just the thing Zeddy." said Rita repulsa.
She raised her staff and the Red Jewel within the ring on the end began to Glow.
"There's an old spell that I know, that can open up any kind of portal. And we should be able to follow it through."
"As always my Dreadful wife, your Genius is only outweighed by your beauty." said Lord Zedd, his insult of her being Dreadful actually an evil version of a romantic compliment.
After Diamond Alligator had came through the portal, it apparently had a side effect of de-energizing him back to his normal size. He was confused. He didn't know where he was or why he was there. Only that he remembered he was about to take a full power hit from the Ninja MegaFalconzord's finishing move until the portal somehow saved him. He was not familiar with the surrounding landscape. Though he was technically only born the previous day. His creator, Rito Revolto had formed him out of clay and then imbued his body with indestructibility qualities and then brought him to life. He was equipped with the power of teleportation for long distance travel, limited ability to fly, and he could conjure lightning bolts, as well as conjure weapons out of thin air and hurl them.
He was not actually very smart. When he was brought to life, the magic that brought him to life extracted knowledge and information from the universe and transferred it into his mind. His knowledge and information in his mind was limited. He could walk and talk. He had basic knowledge of what things were in general, and programmed to be loyal to Lord Zedd. But he had no knowledge of the geography of the Earth or the surrounding landscape.
He looked in the distance and he saw the large cluster of skyscrapers of the downtown area of a major Metropolis.
"Well, I guess I will carry out my mission to wreak havoc." said Diamond Alligator to himself as he began walking in the direction of the city.
But then he saw from a distance a monster. It appeared to be a six and a half foot tall praying mantis.
"Time to level the city for Queen Bansheera." said the praying mantis.
Diamond Alligator feeling a desire to exercise discretion crouched behind an outcropping of rocks and watched with his eye peering around the edge.
But in less than a minute what appeared to be a Jeep drove up at high speed and stopped not too far from the monster.
Five individuals wearing red jackets that bore an unfamiliar insignia jumped out of the jeep.
"All right monster, we're taking you down." said the one who appeared to be the leader.
"Batlings, I command you to attack." said the praying mantis and out of thin air materialized more than two dozen bat-like humanoid creatures wielding weapons.
"Ready guys?" said Carter Grayson.
"Ready." said the other four simultaneously.
"Lightspeed Rescue!" They all said together as they did a hand motion with both arms and then touched a button on their Rescue Morphers on their wrists.
The five Rescue Morphers each deployed what appeared to be a large visor shaped body sized Shield that then passed over their bodies and materialized power suits and helmets.
A fierce battle ensued. Carter Grayson engaged the giant praying mantis, while the rest of the team fought the bat-like foot soldiers.
Carter tried to fight in hand to hand combat. But it's raptorial legs were magically razor sharp and caused severe damage whenever it struck his power suit.
He jumped backwards trying to avoid getting struck, flipped, and then dodged to the side.
"V-Lancer." He called out and a battle staff with a small short blade on the end materialized out of thin air in his hand.
Dana Mitchell had her hands full with multiple targets. She managed to fight them off with basic martial arts moves but she had to finish them because they kept getting back up. She jumped backwards and rolled to the side.
"Battle booster. Beam attack. 555." She typed the code into the keypad on the wrist device and her fist fired an energy beam that vaporized the batling's.
Joel Rawlings had had enough and he drew his blaster and shot his group of batlings down each one at a time.
Kelsey and Chad summoned their V-Lancers and quickly dispensed with their group of batlings.
They all converged on the praying mantis.
Dana and Joel summoned their V-Lancers.
Carter energized the blade at the end of his V Lancer and swiped the blade across the praying mantis's torso creating a burst of Sparks on the point of impact causing severe damage.
"V-Lancer Spectra blast!"
The five weapons converted to Blaster mode and each fired a continuous sustained beam together, forming an enhanced energy burst far more powerful than all of them combined.
The burst struck the praying mantis right in the chest causing a large explosion. When the Smoke cleared the monster was still on his feet though severely weakened.
Carter ran forward with determination.
"Battle booster Power Punch! 845 engage!"
His fist energized and he punched the monster in the chest. The monster's body then began to roil with energy, and collapsed on the ground and exploded in flames.
The demon Jinxer then appeared a distance away.
"My loyal servant, you have fallen. But you're not done yet. So rise again, and grow."
He then threw a card at the fragmented remains of the monster which caused it to reassemble itself in the form of a flock of bats and re-energize itself 60 stories tall.
From a distance away, Tommy, Rocky, Adam, Aisha, Kimberly, and Billy saw the upper torso of the monster from a distance.
"What in the world?" said Tommy.
"A monster attack in Mariner Bay?" said Aisha.
"Let's morph." said Kimberly.
"Wait." said Billy. "There's something else going on."
"Rail rescues on track." Carter summoned.
The rescue vehicles had already been deployed minutes earlier. And were nearby. They each entered the cockpit of their respective rail rescue vehicle.
"Initiating Lightspeed Megazord sequence."
With practiced ease, the five Zords were able to assemble themselves together in less than a minute and formed the Lightspeed Megazord.
Tommy, Rocky, Adam, Aisha, Kimberly, and Billy climbed to the top of the narrow Hill and then saw the Lightspeed Rangers. Their jaws dropped with astonishment as they looked at the massive vehicle with awe.
"What in the world is that?" asked Adam.
"Some kind of Megazord." said Rocky.
"I've seen many Megazords." said Billy with scientific curiosity. "But I've never seen one of that design and configuration before."
The battle ensued. The Lightspeed Megazord through punches and kicks. Each hit dealing a small amount of damage to the monster. The praying mantis sliced at the Megazord with it's raptorial legs. The Megazord took some damage. But they decided to waste no time in finishing this creature once and for all.
The symbol of Lightspeed Rescue detached from the Lightspeed Megazord's chest and flew into the air and then in a matter of seconds formed itself into a 20 meter long sword.
"Lightspeed Megazord saber!"
Making a circular motion they created a ring of fire that then started to inflict severe damage on the monster.
"IGNITE!"
The sword energized with flame and then with one diagonal slice the monster was once again de-energized to the point where Jinxer could not re-energize him again.
"All the days work." said Joel.
The Megazord then headed back to the lightspeed Aqua Base. The Rangers tried to follow but it was too fast for them.
"Okay," said Kimberly with a tone of awe, "that was pretty cool!"
"Who are they?" said Tommy. "And where do you think they came from?"
"And who sent that giant green insect?" asked Aisha. "Rita and Zedd?"
"We should probably go into town, see if we can collect some information." said Billy.
"Good idea Billy." said Tommy. "What do you guys think is going on?"
Billy then looked off into space with a thoughtful look putting two and two together scientifically the way only he could.
"I can only guess," said Billy, "but are you guys familiar with the theory of the Multiverse."
"Vaguely." said Rocky.
"Well, let's think about it. The Command Center does not exist. And we're in a different city where there seems to be monster attacks with a different group of Rangers summoning an unfamiliar Megazord. I believe with that what has happened is we have somehow crossed the Multiverse barrier and slipped into an alternate reality."
"Oh Come on," said Kimberly in a tone of skepticism and disbelief, "that's crazy."
"Um, Kimberly," said Aisha as though trying to get Kimberly to grasp something obvious, "we morph into superheroes of multicolored suits by use of magic coins given to us by an ancient Sage, we have traveled through time, got sucked into other dimensions, and flown to alien planets, all while we are trying to defend Earth from Evil space sorcerers, and you draw the line at an alternate reality?"
"I stand corrected." said Kimberly feeling foolish.
"Come on guys," said Adam, "let's get into town."
Diamond Alligator had watched the whole thing from a distance while staying out of sight and was intrigued.
"Okay," said Diamond Alligator with confusion, "something strange is going on here. I better get back to Lord Zedd."
But just as he turned around he was confronted by multiple bolts of lightning appearing out of nowhere and then crisscrossing to materialize a Sinister looking red and gold being with wings.
"What is this?" asked Diamond Alligator with defiance. "Who are you?"
"Patience my fellow monster. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Olympius. Son of Queen Bansheera."
"What do you want from me?"
"I witnessed your arrival here. And let's just say I have a proposition for you."
