Interference
As the shattered moon lay hanging on the sky, the residents down below had a separate problem altogether.
With Vale suddenly being on the lookout for gas leaks and strange people, very few knew the exact circumstances.
It was during that night, Weiss found herself on top of the Network Tower near the bridge.
"Caster," she started calmly, "I thought you said we were safe. How is it that there was a servant in school and that they ended up attacking someone there. What if that someone was a student ?"
She stared angrily at the cloaked maiden who barely had any expression.
"Child, if you are worried that we would be caught despite being not directly involved then perish the thought. I casted a seal within the seal you casted. Meaning that any incident that involves magic is heavily altered in order to make it seem natural. I have also made several contracts within only affecting those awakened and the Magi. Magic Users are affected differently but should they pose a problem they would be noticed immediately."
"As for the victim, they were an awakened meaning that they at least had a chance of survival. Despite the destruction of the classrooms and the field, it's nothing that a few spells cannot fix. The victim did survive though whether they got attacked out of the school is unknown to me. As for the servant, I know they are using a special skill to conceal their presence. Do you wish for me to use my Noble Phantasm ?"
"No, NO. Just no."
Weiss breathed as she processed the information.
A servant in school unrelated to her and Caster. It attacked someone preferably a student as she made sure all teachers and staff left. As for the damages, they had been dealt by them so the magi society obviously would have to pay her for that.
That's good. But anyway, a fact that it was an awakened and not a magi means that Blake was highly definitely not involved. Which meant there were only a few other options remaining, none she liked.
"It's fine, Caster. Teleport us home." She said as she decided to call Blake just to make sure she was okay.
…
Two sets of eyes were staring at the person laying on the floor. As they finally decided on their next course of action, the blonde boy immediately woke up as a fist came towards his face. He quickly scooched an inch away as the fist immediately stopped before his face.
"Whuaa - ?"
"Hey Lady-killer, I got a question for you. Can you understand me ?"
Seeing his confused expression as he started to make sense of the situation was making it more annoying but she was content to wait for a few minutes.
The moment he did, he stared at his kidnappers.
"Who are you guys ? Why am I here and What do you want ?"
The one who had nearly punched seemed rather annoyed whereas the other, a blonde haired beauty just looked over him at once and just leaned towards him, her hands grabbing firmly on his shoulder.
"I just said I got a question for you. If you answer, then you will get your answers." She replied cooly.
The guy seems to have noticed as he nodded in their direction.
"Great now then, what can you tell me about a certain redheaded friend of yours, from Beacon High ?"
Contrary to Popular Belief, Jaune Arc wasn't stupid. Sure he might've been slow, and dumb at certain situations not to mention not quite good at mathematics or various fundamental equations but he could understand the room or more importantly threats.
Having been bullied throughout his life and into Beacon High, he knew a powerplay move when he saw one. And despite wanting not to get hurt at all, however he couldn't let others get hurt. Especially his friends. Especially Ruby.
She was the one friend who helped him out during his troubled times as well as the one who was always on his side, no matter what. Even if he didn't deserve her, she was always out there helping him out.
Honestly Ruby Rose was an inspiration. The fact that she wanted to be a hero just like him was another thing she was good at.
So this was why, he won't let anything happen to his friends especially Ruby.
"I'm sorry but what's it to you?" he asked abruptly.
He made sure they could see his resistive eyes despite the fact that he was outnumbered.
The blonde beauty just stared at him and whistled while the other just groaned.
The other girl, a short-haired blue-eyed brunette just scrunched her face in frustration as she looked at her comrade.
"Can we beat the answers out of him ?"
The busty blonde just waved the suggestion off.
"No. Look at him. You see his eyes. He's commited."
She then whispered in her ear a few words before turning around, making sure Jaune could not see what they were doing.
Jaune meanwhile briefly looked around him. Finding that he was in a room he didn't recognize, he looked down on his body to see if he was tied up.
Seeing that he was basically free, he planned his next course of action. Without warning, the blonde immediately came towards him, yanked his collar and dragged him out of the room.
Minutes later, he found himself lying face down in the forest. As he stood up, he looked around for the place he was kept in.
"You can try, but the barrier we placed is quite tough. Even Magic users and Magi can't even spot it." The blonde's voice called out from among the trees.
He stood up.
"Hey, What's going on ?"
"Seeing as your not answering, well we have no reason to keep you. So try surviving in the forest. You should be lucky Grimm don't exist."
And then she spoke no more.
As Jaune began to think of a way to get out of this, he began to wonder how Ruby was doing. And how everyone was doing at school.
…
Ruby stared absently at the cereal bowl as her so called Magical Servant was busy cutting vegetables in the kitchen. However he immediately put it aside once he finished and brought out a chair next to her.
"Mistress, "he began," Please speak to me."
The word Mistress caught Ruby off guard. No one had ever called her like that before except maybe in video games but not in real life. So now hearing that kind of thing was mind-boggling for her.
"Um, just call me Ruby or you-know what just Ruby Rose."
"I see."
Ruby then stared at the Rusted Knight.
He was quite younger than she imagined. In fact he might litterly be a teenager. But he had those same eyes as her father once did, and his hair was pale white too. His entire hair was pale white and yet his face was sharp, his figure robust and his shoulders broad. Not to mention his muscles. Yet despite his outer appearance it was his face that shocked her most of all.
He had the kindest, most gentle face.
And when he looked at her, she felt like he was staring at her like she was the most precious thing. And she had no idea why.
She felt sad for some reason. He looked like he had lost a lot and yet was still being a hero.
His deep dull blue eyes stared long into her eyes that she felt like she was staring at diamonds. It was so mesmerizing. The fact that those eyes brightened when looking at her did not help.
"Ummm…" she began but she felt her face flush.
It was a lot to think about.
So she started once again.
"I just don't know what to think about. I mean, Magic is real and all And so are the fairy tales but like. Some sort of battle royale where heroes from the past are summoned just to fight and for one wish. The fact that any one can die. And now I'm apart of it even though I don't even know anything about it. It's too much."
She breathed out.
"I nearly die-died. And I couldn't do anything about it. It was like when that person attacked me, I mean the power I have, my ability I thought I could at least get away from here or at least lead them far away from the city. But I was wrong. I was weak. I was dying. I couldn't do anything. I was dying and yet I couldn't be a hero. I couldn't fulfill my goal. I couldn't help people. I…I ….."
As she began to cry, the atmosphere around her began to soften. As tears began to drip down her face, the man beside her stood by her side. A warm aura permeated throughout the room they were in and Ruby felt her mind getting clearer.
Yet she still couldn't feel but accept the bleak reality.
Try as she might.
Ruby Rose was not strong for the world.
As she began to calm down, the man beside her rubbed her back consolingly.
"Even if you are burdened by your sorrows, know that I will always be right there beside you, Ruby."
'I will do anything to protect you, Craterface.'
