It was snowing the next morning and that meant that another Christmas had come to Jade Mountain.
Nightwave, along with the rest of her winglet, and her sister, Clearfrost, were all out and about, having a lot of fun playing in the cold white powdery snow-covered ground.
"Hey Tempest!" Nightwave called out from somewhere close by. "Do you and Ermine want to build snow dragons with me and Clearfrost?"
The SeaWing looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding her head in agreement.
"You bet I do!" Tempest then turned to face Ermine. "What do you think Ermine? You up for building snow dragons with me and Nightwave?"
The IceWing nodded her head and walked over to join Nightwave and Clearfrost with Tempest at her heals.
"So," Nightwave began in a cheerful tone. "Are you guys ready to start building snow dragons?"
"You bet we are." Tempest and Ermine both cheered while forming snowballs and rolling them up.
The young hybrid laughed and made her own snowballs and adding her own little touch-up to her snow dragon.
"Hey Nightwave!" Nightwave spun around to see Frostfire calmly trotting over to join her. "Wow! You're getting better with that little trick I taught you!"
The NightWing-IceWing hybrid smiled sheepishly and shuffled her talons nervously. "Oh, um, t-thank you Frostfire," she mumbled shyly.
It took a few hours of hard work, but eventually all the dragonets had made at least one snow dragon. And at one point, even the teaches decided to get in on the fun as well.
After a fun-filled day of building snow dragons and having an all-out snowball war, night had finally fallen and the sun had made its decent and lowered in the sky to give the moon time to rise up and shine.
"Hey guys look!" Ermine called, pointing with one of her wings at the darkening sky. "All three full moons are out tonight. Isn't that amazing!"
All seven members of the Quartz Winglet just sat there, staring out the window and looking up at the sky.
It was silent for quite Tempest spoke up in an attempt to break it.
"Why don't we see who can find the most constellations?" the SeaWing dragonet suggested with a shrug of her wings. "I mean, that is if you guys want to." She added quickly afterwords.
Yet again, silence passed over the group before Ermine walked over to join Tempest. "I'll find constellations with you, Tempest." She said, smiling and giving her friend a knowing look.
"Hey, why don't we go outside?" Hyena suddenly chimed in, speaking up for the first time. When the others stared at her with confused expressions, she quickly explained. "Well I mean, wouldn't it be easer to see the stars from outside?"
It took a few seconds for the SandWing's words to finally sink in with the others.
"Oh yeah! That does make more sense now that I think about it!" Zephyr suddenly chimed in, the first to put the puzzle prices together.
It took a bit of time, but eventually all seven members of the Quartz Winglet had made their way outside and found the perfect spot to look at the stars.
Hey guys look!" Nightwave said while posing with a wing at the sky. "If you look up and to the right you can see the Little Dipper."
The other six all looked up to see where the NightWing-IceWing hybrid had been pointing. And yup, sure enough, the Little Dipper was right there.
"Good eye Wave!" Ermine cheered with a bright smile in Nightwave's detection. "Have you done this kind of thing before?"
At the question, Nightwave smiled and gave the IceWing dragonet a wink and a cheeky grin. "Yup! My mom and dad used to take me and my sister to watch the stars... but that was before they disappeared." She trailed off and looked sadly down at her talons.
The mood seemed to change quite a bit after that, and pretty soon the small group of dragons decided to call it a night and head back to the sleep cave for the night.
