Chapter 7: Fee-fi-fo-fum (1/4)
Fox Boy:
Desperation.
That was the only way to describe the state that everyone was in after that footage ended. It was something that Fox Boy himself only ever experienced once.
Fox Boy was standing still outside, with both of his hands inside of his coat's pocket. He had all of his belongings ready. His backpack, his tactical vest, his Schiavona, his F2000 and his Magnum Research BFR . He was able to take some NATO magazines from the Rattlers, so his assault rifle was ready to engage the infected if necessary.
From afar, he saw everyone running around inside, taking everything they could in order to get to the cars. If Fox Boy's is correct, they might have three more minutes before the red smoke that was coming out of the remains of Mr. Snowball stops.
Engaging the infected is definitely not possible. Our position is too open and it will be easy to overwhelm us, we also lack firepower and even if we possessed, it would take heavy artillery to clear out a horde that size. Fox Boy was trying to analyze the situation in order to come up with a solution. Our only option is to try to escape but we are unfamiliar with the area and the terrain. The albino boy looked at the sky, with heavy snow and darkness being all that he could see. The weather and darkness will only add to our difficulty, as the infected aren't as affected by it as we are.
As the masked boy pondered. "Hey." Someone called him. Looking back, he saw Owen carrying the unconscious woman. "Open the car door." He ordered him as he moved towards the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. .
Fox Boy wordlessly moved towards the car door and did as he was told. Opening the backdoor of the Humvee, Owen gently placed her on the back seat of the car.
"Are you guys absolutely sure that a horde is coming this way?!" Owen asked him, seemingly worried about their current predicament.
"Yes." Fox Boy bluntly responded to him. "We buried Joel one mile away from here and it will take around two or three minutes for them to get here running."
"How can you be so calm about that?!" Owen asked while making a strange facial expression.
"I am not calm, our chances of survival are quite minimal." He responded bluntly. "More so if we don't leave in less than two minutes." Which is the time that it will take for the smoke to disperse.
"Oh god!" Owen rushed back to the house as everyone continued to grab everything they needed.
Fox Boy then moved his head to the left to look at the unconscious girl on the backseat of Humvee. She's ugly. That was Fox Boy's opinion of her.
"Hey, little help here!" Suddenly, he heard someone calling him. It was Mel, carrying some kind of bag.
Fox Boy immediately approached the pregnant girl in order to help her.
"Thanks." Mel said after Fox Boy grabbed the bag and helped her carry it. It seemed like it was filled with the Medical supplies that they were able to take from the Rattlers. She also takes the bag to the Humvee. "What are you doing out here?"
"Waiting." He responded bluntly, he prefers to stay put outside since it's the closest to the vehicles and if the infected show themselves, he can proceed to open fire to provide cover. Despite the fact that the possibility of him being overwhelmed is the highest.
"Look, we're going back through the way the others and I came from." She informed him as she looked at the red smoke. "The problem is, there are a lot of turns and pathways that are blocked, so we might not be able to outrun the horde." She explained before placing the bag inside the car.
Fox Boy was certain they wouldn't be able to outrun the horde. "The only thing we could possibly do is try to find a place to hide and let the horde pass us by." That was the only possible solution that he was able to come up with.
Ellie Williams:
"That's everything!" Maria spoke as she put all of their remaining supplies inside of a bag.
Everyone is in a very desperate hurry because that horde of infected could come at them at any second, so all they could do was pack-up all of their stuff and rush to the car as quickly as possible.
"Mierda, mierda, mierda!" Manny cursed as his leg was in pain, but he had to push through the pain in order to limp towards the exit.
"Hey, be more careful." Jordan calmly told Leah as he helped the girl down the stairs, she was still very injured, but she had to move.
"Shut the fuck up and help me!" Nora yelled at Jordan in response as she loaded some of the guns that they got from the group of slavers that they escaped from.
"Fuck... Just fuck..." Ellie was on the edge, so she ended up grabbing on to a weapon as soon as they began packing. A Silenced Submachine Gun that apparently belonged to a guy named Geralt. She also took the bow and arrows that the Albino Weirdo made since she was pretty good with a bow.
"Ellie, please calm down." Tommy told her while placing a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"How?" It was a serious question that came from Dina. "Those psycho fucks were out there, watching us all this time and now this?!" She put her backpack on her back as she approached the two. "Why the hell did they warn us anyway?!"
"I don't know or care, all I know is that we need to get out of here." Tommy was quickly rebuffed as he limped towards Maria.
"Okay, despite the conversation from earlier, I don't think it's a good idea for any of us to be in a car with them." Maria suggested to her husband. "So three of us go in that car we came with and the other three go in that car that Jesse came with."
"Who goes in which?" Jesse, who was loading his shotgun, asked."
Maria thought for a second, but then Tommy spoke up. "You three go in the other car." He meant Ellie, Jesse and Dina. "The kid comes with us." He meant Fox Boy.
Ellie was about to open her mouth to argue, but Jesse spoke first. "Then let's get moving." He spoke calmly but it was obvious that he wanted to get away from there as quickly as possible.
A sentiment that Tommy and Maria clearly shared as they also made their way to the exit as quickly as possible. Dina also limped towards the exit herself. With Ellie giving one final look at the group that wanted to kill Joel, before she also made her way to the exit to join her people.
Fox Boy:
"Get in the car." Maria ordered him.
Fox Boy obeyed without saying a word and made his way to the car that they used to escape Jackson. Walking slowly towards it and opening the door of the backseat of the car. Before he took his F2000 and placed it on his hips after sitting down.
The albino boy moved his head to look at the window, only to catch the sight of everyone placing bags and some of the supplies inside of the cars. They seemed to be discussing something, but Fox Boy couldn't hear them. Eventually, he saw Jesse, Ellie and Dina getting into a 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback in the color white.
After a short pause, Tommy and Maria also entered the car, with Maria sitting on the driver's seat and Tommy on the passenger's seat.
However, the moment they did.
"The countdown ended." Fox Boy spoke up.
"What?" Tommy asked.
The masked boy pointed towards the remains of Mr. Snowball.
"Oh shit." Maria cursed when she realized that the red smoke dispersed.
Ellie Williams:
"Fuck!" It was the first thing that came out of her mouth when she realized that the red smoke had dispersed.
She was sitting on the backseat of the car while Jesse was on the driver's seat and Dina was on the passenger's seat.
"Holy shit..." Jesse spoke as he and Dina also looked out of the car window.
Because despite the dark environment, they could actually see something strange from a distance. Jesse moved his head to look at Ellie.
Ellie simply stared back, before she did something. Which was turning the car lights on to illuminate the area.
"AH!" Only for them to get startled by Dina letting out a scream.
Before they could question what was wrong, they got their answer by looking at the house that was right in front of the car. The car lights were illuminating the house, and to their horror, they could see several Faceless standing there.
Fox Boy:
"What...?" Tommy widened his eyes when he saw them.
There were at least ten Faceless standing in several strategic positions of the house. All of them were armed with Heckler & Koch HK416 rifles equipped with Heckler & Koch AG-C/EGLM. More than enough to take their vehicles out with ease.
"What are they doing?" Maria asked Fox Boy.
"Awaiting orders." Fox Boy responded since they weren't in position for combat yet.
"Were they there the whole time?" Tommy asked him.
"Yes, they entered the house as soon as everyone left." But they were definitely around, waiting for it. "Those are HK416 with AG-C/EGLM grenade launchers," He pointed out for the two of them. "They can intercept us with ease if we try to escape."
"Then what do we do?" Maria asked him while not taking her eyes off of them.
Ellie Williams:
"What the fuck are you doing?!" Ellie asked Jesse. "Drive!"
"They got grenade launchers!" Dina pointed out to her.
"They're gonna blow us up before I can even drive the car around!" Jesse pointed out as well.
Ellie could only look at the group of masked men standing there, completely still. Until they all moved in perfect synchronization to load what appeared to be grenades on their grenade launchers.
Fox Boy:
"Oh no." Fox Boy spoke once he saw the kind of 40 mm grenades that they were loading into their AG-C/EGLM.
"What?!" Maria asked him as she watched them.
Before Fox Boy could answer, all of the Faceless aimed into the sky and fired their grenade launchers simultaneously.
Ellie Williams:
"FUCK!" Ellie tried to cover herself to shield the incoming explosion, but it was pointless as they all heard the grenades exploding in the sky. Very loud explosions were heard by the trio forcing them to cover their ears due to how loud it was.
"Huh?!" Opening their eyes after the explosion, they realized that something was dropping on the car. "Is that... Rain?" Something that appeared to be raindrops were descending from the sky.
"No... That's not rain..." Dina pointed out as she took a good look at the windshield. Realizing that a very strange colored liquid was soaking the area around down.
Fox Boy:
"What is that?!" Tommy asked him in deep worry.
"A compound created by Venus." Fox Boy responded bluntly.
"What does it do?!" Maria asked him next.
"It attracts every single infected in the area towards whatever it's covered in it." Fox Boy responded bluntly.
Tommy and Maria both looked at him with their eyes wide open in response to what he just said. Right now, all of their cars are covered in it.
Ellie Williams:
"GO! GO! GO!" Suddenly, they were all startled by Tommy's voice, who was screaming from the window of his car. "THAT LIQUID ATTRACTS THE INFECTED!" He yelled at the top of his lungs as Maria desperately accelerated the car away from the house.
"What!?" Jesse justifiably was horrified by what he just heard and immediately turned on the car.
"Step on it!" Ellie yelled in desperation as she looked back and realized something horrible. "Oh fuck, here they come!" That there were Runners running towards the house.
Jesse wasted no time and accelerated the car as quickly as possible in order to follow Maria's car. With the other group following behind them in their military vehicles, which were better equipped to protect them in case of the horde catching up to them.
Fox Boy:
"Are they behind us?!" Tommy asked Fox Boy.
"Yes, the car that Jesse is driving is right behind us." Fox Boy informed him. "The cars have been compromised, we won't be able to lose the horde on them." Because they are now going to attract every single infected around them.
"How long does this thing that they covered the cars last?!" Maria asked him as she kept her eyes on the road.
"It depends on the temperature and the environment." Fox Boy responded.
"How long in this temperature and environment?" Tommy asked him.
"Twelve hours at most." In a hot and warm environment, the number decreases to six but in a cold and snowy environment like this one, it can last for about twelve hours at most.
"Twelve hours!" Tommy didn't seem to like his answer.
"Goddammit!" Maria yelled in response. "What can we do?!"
"The only possible solution is to find a place to hide and place the cars at a considerable distance from it in order to draw the horde away from the spot." That was the only possible solution that he could come up with due to the precarious situation that they were in.
"Dammit..." Maria spoke as she continued to drive as fast as she could to get away from the horde.
Ellie Williams:
"Fuck!" Ellie could only look back in complete horror as she could see a massive horde of Runners running after them.
"What are we going to do?!" Dina asked as she looked back as well.
"I don't know!" Jesse yelled. "I'm just following!" They were driving right behind the car where Maria, Tommy and Fox Boy were.
"Where are we even going?!" Ellie asked in desperation. "Are we actually driving aimlessly?!"
"No!" Dina was the one that responded. "We're going through the same path that they used to get here!" She was referring to the other group, who was following behind them, with the horde being the closest to their cars.
"Bu-" Before Ellie could ask Dina more about it, Jesse yelled at them.
"Stop yelling!" He yelled at the two. "I need to focus on the road!"
The road in question was filled with snow and one wrong move could cause the car to slip. Made it worse by the snow that was falling on the car, not a strong blizzard like the one they had to endure in Jackson but it was still giving them a hard time nonetheless.
"There must be a thousand of them behind us." Dina told them as she removed her seat belt and got on the back seat right beside Ellie.
Ellie could only look on in horror, as the absurd number of Runners followed behind them, they were in a safe distance for now, but that could change at any second. "How did they get so many of them?"
"They have a substance that attracts them and a substance that repels them, so that part was easy." Dina pointed out the obvious.
"Fuck... " Ellie could only curse at that. "Why the fuck are they so obsessed with us anyway?!"
"Two words, Fox Boy." Jesse answered that one with ease.
"There's more to it, why the hell are they playing like this when they could have easily finished us off at any moment?" Dina was right, they could end them with unbelievable ease, but they rather play with them for reasons that are still unknown to them.
Fox Boy:
Fox Boy removed the hood from his head and slightly lifted his mask up to expose his mouth. Then he opened his backpack and proceeded to eat a jellybean from the jar that he had inside.
"How the hell can you eat right now?!" Tommy asked him as he looked back.
"The Jellybeans suppress my appetite." Fox Boy always ate Jelly Beans when he was hungry and couldn't get anything to eat at the moment. " Sugars suppress food intake and activate the normal hormonal cascade of signals that contribute to the suppression of food intake." He explained as he picked up another Jelly Bean to put inside of his mouth.
Suddenly, the car seemed to have run over something which caused Maria to nearly lose control of the vehicle. Due to that, Fox Boy accidentally dropped his Jelly Bean.
"What was that?!" Tommy asked Maria.
"Probably an animal carcass or something!" Maria answered as she regained control of the car.
Fox Boy simply ignored what just happened and attempted to retrieve his Jelly Bean from the car floor. However, once he attempted to reach it, he ended up finding something else on there. The masked boy could only tilt his head in confusion because he had a pretty good idea of what that was. Why? He asked himself that.
Ellie Williams:
"Jesus, how much farther can we even go?!" Dina asked them since she had no idea where they were going or how they would evade that horde.
"I have no idea, I'm just following." Jesse replied while his eyes were fixed on the car in front of them.
"They co-" Before Ellie could speak up, she realized something. Moving their head to the left they saw that one of the military vehicles that were being driven by the other group was right beside them, accelerating past them.
Ellie immediately looked back and realized that the other car was still behind them, but mainly because it had no means to go past them. "Jesse, go as fast as you can, we can't be the ones at the bottom!" Because they would be easily torn apart by the horde if they reached that car.
"I'm already going as fast as I can, Ellie!" Jesse replied as he looked to the left for a second to see that the military car was on their left.
"They know the way better than us, shouldn't they be leading us?" Dina pointed out since they have no idea of where they were going and Maria is probably just driving blindly.
Before either Jesse or Ellie could reply, the military vehicle accelerated even more. And it seemed to be trying to get near the car where Maria, Tommy and Fox Boy were.
Fox Boy:
"Hmmm...?" Fox Boy looked to the left and saw the Humvee riding next to the car. With Manny on the window signalled him to roll it down.
So he did just that. "Hi Manny." Before waving happily at him.
"THERE'S A SMALL TOWN THAT WE PASSED BY IT ON THE WAY HERE!" Manny informed him while yelling.
"WHERE?!" Maria also rolled down the window of the car to ask.
"FOLLOW OUR LEAD!" Manny yelled in response.
"THE CARS ARE GOING TO KEEP ATTRACTING THE INFECTED FOR AT LEAST TWELVE HOURS, WE GOTTA TO LEAVE THE CARS SOMEWHERE AND HIDE!" Maria explained the situation to them as the Humvee accelerated past them.
Ellie Williams:
"You guys heard that?" Ellie heard what Maria yelled.
"Shit..." Dina cursed in response.
"Twelve hours?!" Jesse really didn't like what he heard.
"We're gonna have to get to this small town and try to hide." Ellie already knew what the plan was.
"How are we going to hide from that?!" Dina asked her in deep fear as she looked back and realized that the horde was actually getting bigger since the cars were seemingly attracting every single infected around them. With some getting out of the woods and running alongside them. With the other military vehicle barely going faster than them.
"I don't fucking know, but we have to try!" Ellie replied as she also looks back and sees the increasing horde of Runners that were after them.
Fox Boy:
"Hmmm?" After driving in full speed for a while, following the Humvee as it carefully traversed from a snowy road.
Eventually, they seemed to have reach the entrance of the small town that Manny was talking about.
"What is this place?" Maria asked in visible confusion as they approached the small town.
"Probably a community or something like that." Tommy pointed out as he noticed that settlement. "It's definitely abandoned."
"They said that they already passed through here, so you're probably right." Maria pointed out. "Wait, what?" Suddenly, the Humvee stopped.
"What are they-" Tommy was about to say something, but stopped. "Oh shit!
It turns out, they were also forced to stop.
Ellie Williams:
"What the fuck are they d-" Ellie was about to ask why they were stopping, until she got her answer. "Oh man..." Once Jesse stopped the car, Ellie was the first one to exit.
Approaching the others as they also exit their cars.
"¿¡Qué carajo es esto!?" Manny seemed to be cursing in Spanish as he approached the entrance.
The entrance to what appeared to be a community was completely blocked by what appeared to a large pile of rubble. The place was protected by large brick walls that were clearly built a while ago, but they seemed to be sturdy enough to protect them from the horde.
"What the fuck!" Jordan was the second one to curse. "This wasn't in here when we passed by!"
"Did it just crumble?!" Nora asked in deep confusion.
"No, someone destroyed it using heavy machinery." Fox Boy spoke up as he took one good look at it.
"Fuck!" Jordan cursed again. "What are we going to do?!"
Suddenly, the last car arrived. With Owen and Mel getting out of it.
"What!?" Owen was visibly shocked.
"Oh god!" Mel shared the sentiment.
"Guys!" Dina yelled, forcing everyone to look back and they could see the massive horde running towards them.
"There's no way to drive back!" Owen yelled in visible fear.
Ellie moved her head to the wall and looked for any type of opening or maybe a way for them to climb. Until she saw something. "What?" Everyone looked at her and she immediately pointed towards what she saw.
Which was the drawing of a downwards zigzag arrow on the wall that seemed to be pointing at something.
Maria ran towards it to see what it was. "THERE'S A HOLE HERE!" She yelled as loud as she could. "COME ON!" Before she herself got on the ground and began to crawl under it.
Everyone looked at one another before everyone made their way to it. With Nora being the second one to reach it and crawl through it.
Owen opened the backdoor of the military vehicle and carried the unconcious girl towards it.
"Come on!" Jordan, who was helping Leah, who was still heavily injured, moved.
"Dammit!" Leah spoke out loud as she was in clear pain.
"Go! Go! Go!" Tommy yelled as Dina crawled through the hole as well. With him following behind her.
Ellie could only watch as the horde was about to reach them. Wasting no time, she made her way through the hole right behind Jesse. Crawling through the considerably tight space with not much difficulty. Only taking a second for her to get to the other side, with Jesse pulling her off the hole.
She stood up right away, and she realized that they were in the backyard of a house.
"Help!" Suddenly, Owen yelled and seemingly called for them to help him. Nora immediately moved forward and helped, in pulling the unconcious girl through the hole.
Once she was in, Mel entered next. Owen went afterwards. Manny entered right after with considerable difficulty.
"AHHHHHHHHHHH!" However, as soon as he was in, they all heard a scream coming from the other side. Followed by shots being fired by what appeared to be an assault rifle.
"JORDAN!" Manny yelled as he realized that it was him screaming.
Before anyone could do anything, they noticed something. Which was Leah desperately trying to go through the hole. Jesse and Owen immediately moved forward to pull her as they continued to hear gunfire from the other side.
"AAAHHH!" She screamed in pain as Jesse had to grab on to her injury to be able to pull her. But thankfully, they were able to pull her in. "JORDAN!" Only for her to scream as they continued to hear gunfire coming from the other side.
"Fox Boy!" Dina yelled as the Albino Weirdo was still on the other side as well and the gunfire was definitely coming from his assault rifle.
"Ah shit!" Jesse approached the hole to try to see what was happening on the other side. "AH!" Only to get startled by Jordan trying to pass through it.
"AAAHHHH!" Jordan screamed as he desperately tried to get through it.
"Jesus!" Jesse immediately grabbed his hands and tried to pull him in.
"Hold on!" Owen yelled as he approached and desperately tried to do the same.
They continued to hear gunfire coming from the other side, with Fox Boy clearly firing at full-auto at the horde. Everyone looked as Jesse and Owen desperately tried to pull Jordan in, but it was obvious that the horde grabbed a hold of him.
"HELP ME!" Jordan yelled in pure agony as he was visibly in pain. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
Eventually Jesse and Owen were able to pull Jordan in, with the two of them falling backwards once they did. But there was a cost and they only realized after Jordan was all the way inside.
"Holy fuck!" It was Ellie's immediate reaction.
"AAAAHHHHH!" Dina screamed when she saw it.
Manny widened his eyes in deep shock
Nora looked away.
Mel was startled and fell backwards on the floor.
Both Maria and Tommy hugged each other in shock.
Leah passed out at the sight.
"Holy!" Owen was startled as well, letting go of him and crawling backwards to get away .
Jesse also let go of it and ended up vomiting on the ground.
Because of the struggle to pull Jordan in, the Runners ended up managing to pull Jordan apart. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !" With the poor guy simply laying there screaming in pure agony as his lower body was now a completely bloody mess. "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" Jordan screams echoed through the area in conjunction with the gunfire that was still coming from the other side.
"Rrrrrr!" Out of complete nowhere, they were startled by the sight of a Runner, trying to pass through the hole.
"No!" Owen yelled as he saw the Runner trying to crawl through.
Thankfully, Nora reacted quickly and fired at the Runner with a revolver. With the Runner falling dead on the ground, blocking the hole in the process.
"Ahhhhhhhh..." Jordan's screams began to fade, with nothing other than abrupt inhalations a pool of blood began to form on his lower half.
"No,no,no..." Owen crawled towards Jordan. "Jesus, hold on..." He held Jordan's hand tightly.
Manny, Mel and Nora rushed towards him in worry.
A few more shots were heard by them, until they completely stopped.
"Oh no..." Dina spoke up in response, because that could only mean that the horde got Fox Boy.
"Goddammit..." Jesse spoke as he stood up and approached the wall.
"Fuck..." Dina was visibly upset by that because she was fond of him for some reason .
"I'm so sorry." Maria told her in response.
"Poor kid." Tommy didn't trust him but being torn to shreds by a horde of Runners was a way no one deserved to go.
Ellie sighed, despite not really liking that Albino Weirdo, she really didn't like seeing Dina upset. Well, at least he's finally gone. She thought, but as soon as she finished that thought.
"Mrmmm..." Suddenly, they heard a grunt coming from above them. With everyone moving their heads up to see what it was.
You got to be fucking kidding me... Right above the wall, was the Albino Weirdo, trying to get past the spikes that were covering the top of the wall. How the fuck did he managed to climb that wall?! The wall was considerably high, and climbing with your bare hands should be impossible, especially with the snow that should be making it slippery.
"Holy shit!" Dina ran to the wall. "Are you okay?!" She asked as the masked boy was trying to pass by the spikes without getting cut.
Fox Boy didn't answer, he just carefully passed over the spikes and proceeded to get on the other side of the wall. Before he slowly descended from it, which basically answered Ellie's question of how he climbed the wall. As she actually sees him piercing the wall with a strange looking knife and using it to leverage himself down from the snow covered brick wall.
It took him a few seconds to reach the ground but once he did. "Hi Dina." He simply greeted Dina like he always did. "Hi Jesse." Then he greeted Jesse.
Dina replied by immediately hugging him tightly. "Hi."
"Are you hurt?" Jesse approached and began to inspect him for wounds.
"One of them bit my boot while I was climbing the wall." Fox Boy informed them as he hugged Dina back.
Dina pushed him away and looked down at his foot after he said that.
Jesse kneeled down to check.
"So?" Dina asked him in concern.
" These are strong military boots, so there was no way the Runner's teeth were able to bite through it." Jesse responded while touching his boot.
Dina sighed in relief. "Don't scare me like that, I thought you were a goner."
"Goner?" He probably didn't know what that meant. "Is it a new variant or something like that?" Fox Boy asked, apparently assuming that a "goner" was some kind of new variant of the Cordyceps.
"No... Forget about it." Dina didn't seem to want to correct him. "What is that?"
"A Kunai." He held the weird looking knife up. It is a black dagger — about the length of one's hand — with a handle wrapped in bandages and a ring-like pommel.
"Where did you get that?" Jesse asked him in confusion since he definitely didn't have that before.
"I found it inside the car, Reaper probably left it there alongside the camera and the guitar." Fox Boy answered the question. "I'm going to keep it, since it can be used as a multi-purpose tool." He then placed the weird looking blade inside the sheath which used to hold his previous knife which broke. "Is Jordan and Leah alright?"
"Well..." Dina was about to explain, but before she could. They all heard a gunshot.
Moving their heads to see, they realized that it came from Manny's pistol.
"Oh man..." Which he used to shoot Jordan in the head as an act of mercy kill.
"Dammit... Dammit..." Mel bursted into tears and hugged Owen.
Manny fell on the floor, touching his head as he was trying to swallow what he just did.
Nora just kept holding his hand tightly, not willing to let go.
"We better just let them grieve for now." Tommy spoke up in a low voice so only they would hear.
Maria sighed before giving all of them a look. "We don't know if this place is safe, so we better check it out." She informed them and she was right, since they don't know anything about this place.
"It is not safe." Once she was done, Fox Boy spoke up.
"What do you mean?" Jesse knew that he couldn't be talking about the horse.
Fox Boy responded by extending his arms forwards and pointing his index finger at something.
They moved their heads to see. Looking at the back of the house which that backyard belonged to. A nice simple house painted in white, but what stood out was something that was written on the wall.
FEE-FI-FO-FUM, I SMELL THE BLOOD OF A DANISH BOY.
"Jester is here."
Q AND A:
:I really liked Fox Boy as a character.
He has a Post-Apocalyptic John Wick vibe that I loved. Did you took any inspiration from it or was it just a coicidence?
John Wick is possibly one of the best examples of Gun Fu in recent years, I did take a lot of inspiration from it. But just towards the shootouts and fights though.
Fox Boy as a character is actually mostly based on Solid Snake and Stuart Pot. A lot of his backstory and skills are loosely based on Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series. His personality, quirks, mannerisms are also loosely based on Stuart Pot/2-D from Gorillaz.
Damn. Reaper is a fantastic villain! He knows how to psychologically break down the group.
Reaper's main objective is to completely break everyone in the group. And he will use every despicable method possible.
Awesome
AWERSOME!
Buen capitulo, espero con ansias el proximo, espero que a Mel no le pase nada, es demasiada pura para un universo como el de the last of us.
Concuerdo plenamente
God I love Dina being the one to talk sense
Also would have had someone call out Tommy for back tracking on Fox Boy when Dina pointed out essentially how stupid it is to distrust Fox after what he's endured
Fox bot carrying again by leading in patching everyone up and I laughed that when Reaper started talking and revealing they've been tailing the group for a while now Fox was more concerned his snow man was melting sorta like it could be read as Fox Boy knew they'd be followed for a while he just didn't see it as important due to them not making any moves to attack the group what was more important was his snow man melting haha
Anyway nice of uncle Reaper to drop off everyone's stuff
With the count down again love that Fox's reaction was essentially oh count down started neat
With the preview if I may take out Fox Boy saying Owen would be upset if Abby died Fox Boy shouldn't give two shits what that fucker thinks or feels
Also have Fox Boy kick her ass even harder haha
That happens quite often to be honest.
In his defense, we both know what happened when he trusted a certain stranger.
He already suspected, but didn't say anything because nobody asked.
More or less...
Very few things can actually faze Fox Boy.
He actually likes Owen but that will change when keeps prioritizing Abby's safety over Mel's.
The entire chapter is going to be Fox Boy and Abby trying to kill each other to be honest.
The main characters hardly get any breaks. Just finished fighting..this must be the start of a new battle again.
And happy belated new year. May this year be a good year for you and your family.
- The massacre scene was so brutal that even just imagining it was terrifying.
- Must accept that the current situation It has an atmosphere like a horror movie. It's an unreliable place with a tense atmosphere. It's great. Where do you get your inspiration from?
- What I love about the Normandy clan is that it's a collection of dead by daylight-like psychotic killers, each with a gruesome and terrifying personality. I really want this group to appear in the game The Last of Us. Just imagine the scenes captured on camera. Making it into a cutscene in the game should create a lot of tension.
Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!
It's the start of playtime for Jester.
Likewise, my friend.
That was actually light in comparison to their other massacres.
Two major inspirations:
The dynamic between Reaper and the group is actually based on the movie Old Boy. Where the main villain practically manipulates everything to mess with the protagonist.
The horror elements are loosely based on the Japanese manga Ibitsu. (Which was also my main inspiration for Venus.)
HAHA! It would actually be wonderful.
Same..
So now they have regrouped, and were tending to their wounds but now a new problem has emerged. The Normandies now have them on a countdown before they attack with a massive horde of runners. The countdown won't last long, when the snowman that Fox Boy and Dina built was on fire, the countdown started, and with the videos watched, now they have less time. Unless the red smoke can last hours, they need to get a move on real fast.
Problem is, almost all of them are injured, and some are barely even in fighting shape. They are only just started recovery from the Rattler encounter. There is also distrust between the two groups, but given what they saw on the video, that might be put aside for the time being until they are out of danger.
The Normandies have been following them every step of the way since Jackson. If they knew where they were since they arrived at the cabin, then they at the very least have scouts on every way out the area by time Fox Boy, Jesse, and the rest of Abby's crew arrived back. Guess the Normandies will follow them all the way to Seattle. Even if they don't, they track them there and when they do they'll see just two more groups to destroy, the Wolf Liberation Front, and the Seraphites.
So Abby tries to kill Fox Boy, in the sneak peak. So what's her plan, she draws him to a place and kills him then pins on the Seraphites or the Normandies if they arrived at that time? And then she goes back with no Fox Boy and the group buys whatever crap story she cooks up? Abby selfish as ever, especially when they have bigger problems like the Normandies to deal with. Fox Boy knows the Normandies better than anyone they got. Blaming him, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy and Maria for her failed relationship with her friends and Owen, she is the one who deserves credit as her obsession drove the wedge between her and her friends. By the time of confrontation she'd have seen the videos about the Normandies destroying Jackson no?
The force that the Normandies hit Jackson with is just a taste of the true strength of the Normandies. Who knows what they'll hit Seattle with. The Wolf Liberation Front is still in conflict with the Seraphites, the WLF doesn't have the strength to fight both the Normandies and the Seraphites.
The red smoke only lasted ten minutes. If they did get out of there before the countdown ended ,then they would have avoided the Faceless covering their cars with the liquid that attracts the infected and they woudn't have fallen for Jester's trap.
Considering the problem that they have now, it's pretty damn likely.
They could have gone to Seattle already if they wanted to, but it's practically pointless for Reaper's plans if Fox Boy isn't there.
Abby is going to be the only one of her group that doesn't actually understand how dangerous the Normandies really are. (No, she didn't actually see the footage, because Fox Boy deleted them in order to open space for more.) In a way, Abby thinks that getting rid of Fox Boy will actually help everyone since he's practically the main reason why the Normandies are there.
What they attacked Jackson with wasn't even 20% of what they're capable of.

EXCELLENT!
Loved the Fox Boy vs Abby preview. And thank you very much for it.
Now, not wishing to push my luck but... Any chance for one more preview?
I genuinely wanna see how Fox Boy, Ellie and Dina's relationship is going to actually play out when they finally get together later on.
Fine, but last one:
{
The storm outside was going strong and all they could do was stay put. Sleep was definitely not going to happen and maybe that was for the best.
Ellie could only sit on the bed with her back leaning on the headboard, playing her guitar. Or at least, trying to play, but all that came out was a bunch of random tunes. The room was very dark, with not a single light other than the occasional lightning that came from outside, but there was a reason for that.
[Spoiler!] was besides her, laying on his back while staring at the ceiling. With Ellie moving her head up to see that he was actually watching old black and white cartoons. There was actually an old film projector right beside the bed that he got it working somehow. His blue eyes were fixated on cartoons and he giggled from time to time. Ellie was probably never going to get used to his face, but that mask being off was a complete improvement.
"Hehehe..." He giggled at the cartoon, with Ellie wondering what was so funny about it because she didn't really get the jokes.
Suddenly, she heard steps coming from the door, which turned out to be just Dina coming out of the bathroom after taking a shower, wearing blue shorts and a gray tank-top. Ellie simply sat there watching her as she dried her hair with the towel slowly. For some reason that she couldn't explain, Dina seemed to have gotten even more beautiful, and she doesn't actually understand how that be possible since she's now missing a body part. After she was done drying her hair, she dropped the towel on the floor and moved her head to look at the bed.
Dina let out a beautiful smile and slowly walked towards the bed. However, Ellie could only look at her with sad eyes, because she began crawling on top of the bed.
And slowly got on top of [Spoiler!].
The redhead girl could only watch as her ex-girlfriend began kissing the Albino Weirdo's face, with him only slightly reacting to it as he was still watching the cartoon.
Watching the two of them together still felt wrong to Ellie. But she had no right to complain since they are the ones in a relationship now and they were clearly happy together. However, as Dina practically showered him with kisses, Ellie couldn't stop looking at the awful scar that she had now in the place where her hand used to be, which was a subject that she was trying to handle with kid gloves since just by looking at it, she could tell that it was very painful. Despite how things ended, she still cared deeply for Dina and she wanted to be there for her, independently of how uncomfortable she felt.
Taking a deep breath, Ellie decided to finally break the silence. "Dina..." She didn't know what to say, in truth, she just wanted them to stop because watching her smother him was starting to get to her.
"Don't." Dina responded coldly while moving down, giving him very soft kisses on his neck. With [Spoiler!] laughing in response as it clearly tickled him. She also put her hand inside of his shirt. She began licking his jawline and caressing his chest.
Ellie frowned as she knew that she was only doing that to bother her. "We need to talk about what happened." She pushed anyway, despite the fact that it has already been a while, Dina refused to talk about it and she didn't have the courage to ask him.
Dina completely ignored her and descended to his torso, where she lifted his pink sweatshirt and began kissing his pale scarred torso. Kissing, licking and caressing his nasty looking scars as gently and lovingly as humanly possible, which made her wonder how she could do that since just the sight of them made Ellie uncomfortable.
The albino boy continued to focus on the cartoon, but his smile visibly grew wilder as Dina kissed his body. Which only made Ellie even more angry because they were practically acting like she wasn't even there.
"Dina!" With that anger turning into fury because Dina was clearly doing that to get to Ellie.
Causing Dina to angrily get on her knees and pull the guitar off her hands. "Get out!" She angrily demanded as she tossed Ellie's guitar on the floor. "What the hell are you doing here anyway?!" Dina didn't actually invite her and neither did [Spoiler!], she just entered the room and sat there uninvited.
Suddenly, a loud thunder was heard by them. With Ellie angrily glaring at her since the only reason she was there was because of the storm.
"There's another room right at the end of the corridor, why don't you just go there and leave us already!" Dina yelled at her angrily.
"BECAUSE I DON'T-'' Ellie was about to yell something back, but she stopped mid-sentence as she genuinely didn't have it in her to start an argument with her, not after everything that already happened. She took a very deep breath and sighed. "Because I don't wanna be alone tonight..." Then she finished what she was going to say calmly.
Dina continued to frown at her for a bit, but then she also took a deep breath and calmed down. "I don't wanna talk about it, not now, not ever." She calmly explained to her as the albino boy finally moved his head to look at them. "It had nothing to do with you, so why the hell are you so obsessed with knowing what happened there?"
"Because I'm worried about you." Ellie replied as everything has been nothing but a complete mess since that.
"I am fine, Ellie." She stated, despite the fact that she didn't sound sure of that at all. "I just wanna forget about it and move on." She looked at [Spoiler!] and began running her fingers through his wavy hair. "Besides, we both know who got the worst of it."
"No... It wasn't him that got the worse of it." Ellie moved her head to look at him. Then she looked away as those big blue eyes of his stared deeply into her green ones. Already regretting that she actually said that since witnessing something that awful was probably just as bad if not worse.
Dina closed her eyes as the memory of it probably came back after she said that. Then she began to sob in front of them, with Ellie immediately feeling like shit for making her cry.
"Okay... okay... okay..." Ellie realized that she was being a piece of shit right now. "I'm not going to ask you anymore." She gently touched Dina's shoulder. "I'm sorry." Whatever happened between her and that psycho clown was definitely awful and Ellie genuinely felt like shit for not having been able to do anything about it.
Dina opened her teary eyes again after a few seconds. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could the Albino Weirdo sat up and immediately grabbed Dina into a hug.
"Hey..." Dina immediately shifted her attention towards him. "Sorry..." She apologized to him for some reason before gently touching his face. "I'm so sorry...'" Before wrapping her arms around his neck.
"What are you sorry for?" He asked in confusion. Because he probably just hugged Dina due to his belief that you were supposed to hug someone when they're sad.
"Don't question, just accept." Ellie instructed him with a weak smile before moving in order to get behind [Spoiler!] since there wasn't much space behind Dina. Hugging the two of from behind him, with her and Dina practically sandwiching him.
"Yeah... Just accept it, Cute Boy." Dina added before pressing a kiss on his forehead.
"Are you still calling him Cute Boy?" Ellie asked her with a smile as she thought that nickname died when they stopped calling him Fox Boy.
"Just because he's not Fox Boy anymore, it doesn't mean he gets to stop being my Cute Boy." Dina was quick to declare that with a big smile on her face. "Right, Cute Boy?" Thankfully, that made her cheer up.
"But I'm not cute..." Hilariously, him whinning like that only made him sound cute.
"Yeah, you're not cute." Dina immediately cupped his cheeks with her hand. "Actually, you're beautiful." Then she gave him a kiss on the lips. It was a considerably long and kind of hot kiss as Dina practically shoved her tongue into his mouth. Surprisingly, he was more reactive to it, returning the gesture despite the fact that Dina was doing most of it.
Ellie had to resist an urge to sigh, because she was still uncomfortable with this. However, the fact that it cheered up Dina was worth it, so she just put up with it.
Eventually they pulled back and Dina gently rubbed his cheek with her thumb. But then, for some reason, he placed the back of his head on Ellie's shoulder.
With him turning his head to look at her and staring deeply into her green eyes with his blue ones. He stayed like that for a few seconds, just looking at her for some reason.
"What?" Ellie eventually decided to ask as he was giving her a very weird look.
His response was to simply stare at her a bit, before he basically moved his head forward and to Ellie's shock, pressed his lips into hers. Ellie widened her eyes in response despite the fact that she made no effort to actually push him away. Wait... What is he... What!?... The confused girl thought as she barely did anything other than just let the boy kiss her. For a whole minute, before he pulled away.
"What...?" Ellie was very confused and really didn't know how to react to that as he continued to lean his head on her shoulder with the exact same expression. So she moved her head towards Dina in hopes that she would say something, but instead, Dina was just smiling while giving her a very familiar look. "Dina?"
It didn't stay on just looking as Dina slowly approached her and also pressed her lips into hers. With Ellie, without even thinking, happily returning the kiss because she really, really wanted to kiss Dina again. Despite the deep confusion that she was feeling at the moment, kissing Dina just felt right, in every sense of the word. The two girls made out in front of the Albino Weirdo, who still had the back of his head on Ellie's shoulder.
It lasted for a whole minute until Dina pulled back. [Spoiler!] didn't even react to their kiss, he just stared at the two with those big blue eyes of his. What the fuck is- Before Ellie could even finish that thought, she got distracted. By the fact that Dina began to slowly pull up her tank-top. With Ellie staring deeply as she struggled to remove her top with just one arm.
As soon as she managed to take it off completely, [Spoiler!]'s blue eyes were immediately locked on Dina's breasts. With Ellie still hugging him tightly from behind without even noticing. "I... What are we doing?" Ellie asked her despite it being painfully obvious.
"I don't know." The boy that used to be called Fox Boy replied while he kept looking at Dina's breasts.
"Come on, only he looks cute while confused, Ellie." Dina spoke in response to their confusion as she folded her arms under her breasts, practically highlighting them for the two of them.
"Dina..." Ellie really wasn't sure about that at all. However, there was a reason why she hasn't let go of him yet. I mean... Seriously? Nobody was more confused about that than her. I don't... He's not... I'm not even into guys! Ellie's mind was all over the place in regards to the current situation, with her not really sure if she actually even wants that or if she's just lonely.
Suddenly, [Spoiler!] stopped looking at Dina's breasts and moved his head up. Letting out another giggle at the old cartoon that was playing on the ceiling. Then he moved his head to look at Ellie again, while he was smiling. Smiling at her to be more precise.
After [Spoiler!] smiled at her, only one thought remained on her head. Fuck it! And with that, Ellie immediately placed her right hand on his left cheek and pressed her lips into his again. This time however, Eliie was the one kissing him and for her shock, it didn't feel wrong at all. It felt just as right as it did kissing Dina just now and that only made her more confused than ever.
As their lips were locked together, Dina approached the two and began kissing his neck once again, while her hand simoutantly found it's way to Ellie's thigh. With Ellie grabbing her hand in response and holding it tightly.
Eventually, Ellie pulled back from the kiss. Once she did, Dina moved her head to look at her for a second. Before she approached her face and kissed her again, however, it was a short kiss. "Don't think about it, just enjoy the moment." Her ex-girlfriend whispered to her before she gently pushed the Albino Weirdo to lay back on the bed.
Then Dina laid beside him and whispered something in [Spoiler!]'s ear. Which caused him to look at Ellie strangely. She didn't say anything, she just sat there unmoving, looking at the two.
"What did she whisper in your ear?" Ellie decided to ask since she actually wanted to know.
"She told me to tell you why I kissed you." He answered honestly like he always did.
"Tell me." Ellie wanted to know.
"Because I love you." [Spoiler!] answered as bluntly as possible.
Ellie didn't react to that in any way, despite knowing that he was being completely honest. Because she literally didn't have an answer to that. She closed her eyes for a second to contemplate how she should even begin to digest that. Before making a decision in the heat of the moment. Which was to simply follow Dina's advice.
Taking a deep breath, Ellie reopened her eyes and simply stared at the two people that were laying in front of her. Slowly, Ellie began to pull up her T-shirt, taking it off and tossing on the floor next to her guitar. Unsurprisingly, [Spoiler!]'s blue eyes locked on her breasts just like they did with Dina's. Not that Dina's eyes were any less fixated on her.
I don't really know what this is, but... Those thoughts suddenly appeared on her head as she slowly got on top of the two of them. Whatever it is, I want to see where it goes. All of her doubts died the moment she was embraced by the two of them.

Minor context: The reason Fox Boy's name is [Spoiler!] is because he gets a new name by that point and I won't reveal it
