You know that feeling when the covers are warm and cozy, and your pillow is just the right amount of fluffiness? Yeah, that's the way I felt when I got up on Valentine's Day only to have a pillow beamed to the face.
"Rise and shine! Today's the day!" I rub my eyes, finding Ladybug in the middle of my room, holding a pillow. "Ladybug? Do you realize what time it is?" "Yes, its time I told Cat who I am. And won't it be so romantic that's it Valentine's Day? Maybe I should even bring a hamster!"
Okay, someone in this is room obviously needs their coffee, three guesses on that one. "Um, that's great you want to tell him, but maybe leave the hamster at home. And can I get dressed?" I gesture to my striped pajamas.
Realization dawns across Ladybug's face, and I laugh. "Oh, My Kwamis. I'm so sorry!" "Its okay, I'll be dressed in two minutes anyway."
I yawn and grimace as I walk past the mirror. I have terrible bed hair this morning, and I'm surprised Ladybug didn't think I was a villain.
As predicted, I walk out of the closet in a pink sweater and nice jeans, and I want to locate a comb. Ladybug takes one look at me and snorts, bursting into giggles. "Your sweater, it's pink!" "Actually, its salmon, not pink." I want to tell her to take it easy, she's laughing so hard. "Salmon? So, Kitty can have it for breakfast?" "Your the fashion expert, you tell me."
"Oh, oh. And I thought you were the stiff and starchy one of the Agrestes," she wipes tears of laughter from her eyes. I smirk at her. "Thanks. Now, if your doing making fun of me, could you help me with my hair?" "What, are you afraid when you pass a mirror they'll be seven years bad luck?"
"Wow. You are extra spicy today." I hand her the comb, asking her if she can help. Suddenly, she turns serious. "Felix, do you really think I can do it?" "Tell Cat your Marinette?" she nods.
"Remember that time that you were having doubts about being Ladybug and Cat and I had to give you pep talks?" she nods. "You were ready to throw in the towel, but Cat and I believed in you. And more importantly you stopped listening to the lies you were telling yourself, and believed in yourself."
"You make it sound so easy, and yet I'm still scared." "I never said it would be easy, but I know you can do it."
"Now, may I show you something as long as you keep it a secret?" She waves her hand. "Please, I'm Guardian of the Miraculous. Of course I can keep a secret."
"All right, then." I walk over to my chest of drawers and draw out a small bag, and pull out a small square shaped box. Ladybug gasps as she pinches the clasp, looking at the object, then at me. "Felix, what…." "Its a promise ring. I'm going to promise her whatever happens, we'll be together and eventually we'll marry. I hope she likes it."
"Ooh, I know I can keep a secret but...pooh!" "Okay, someone needs a coffee before she explodes."
Cat is already at Kagami, and she's supervising him making pancakes. "Happy Valentine's Day, love," I give her a soft kiss and Kagami hugs me tight. "Hey, nice sweater. Didn't know you could pull off pink man," Cat says, flipping one of the cakes. "For the last time, its salmon!"
"I already got to him. Are you making pancakes, Kitten?" Cat twirls the spatula expertly. "Yep, sure am. And only three are stuck to the ceiling so look out below! And there heart shaped!"
Cat's tail kinks into a shape of a heart. "Anddd so is my tail!" he sings. "Oh," Ladybug cracks up again, and Cat smiles and winks.
"I think its officially the silly season with those two," I whisper to Kagami. ", their young and in love. Let them have their fun!" I give a mock gasp of shock. "Love, are you calling me old?"
Just then a pancake drops down and Cat freaks out. "Get it off, get it off! Murder!" "Oh, stay still! You are such a drama king!" she plucks the cake from his head.
"Can we eat breakfast now before something else that's dark and scary comes along?" "Did you see Felix's bedhead too?" We sit down at the table. "Ladybug!"
Eventually, we sit down to eat, and calm down. We all clean up together, and then head off in different directions.
"So, what was Ladybug doing in your room so early?" Kagami asks curiously as we head to the park, holding hands. "She's going to tell Cat that's she's Marinette tonight." Kagami chews on her lip deep in thought. "Do you really think she'll do it this time?" "I have faith in her."
The sun is shining through the trees, and we pause under one, and pull Kagami into a hug. "I know our dynamic is different then Ladybug's and Cat's, but ever since I met you, I feel happier, fuller. Your my perfect partner, Kagami Tusurgi. And now I want to give you this."
"Felix, wha…." "Kagami, I'll love you forever and when were older, I'll slip a wedding ring on your finger. But for now, please accept this promise ring as a token of my love."
I slip on the ring, its band sparkling with red stones with a tiny dragon's head at the top. Her face is a picture of pure joy and I notice her hand shaking slightly as she pulls out a similar ring. "We're promised to each other then."
Only the wind can be heard in the trees as we stare at each other. Kagami gives a sudden giggle, breaking the silence. "Back in Paris, lovers like us get ice cream from Andre the ice cream man. You want to go for a scoop?" I grin, and give a little bow. "It would be my pleasure. May I offer you my arm?"
The ice cream parlor is quite busy and we have just enough time for an ice cream before heading back to get ready for the play. However, I feel uneasy and a queer feeling rises up inside me. "Felix?" Kagami tugs on my hand. "Are you listening?" "I have a strange feeling," I whisper. "Ladybug needs our help."
Just then, Cat comes out of the Horse Portal, ashen faced and shaking, the playfulness of this morning a distant memory. "Please, you have to help me. Its Marinette, she's Ladybug." We look at each other.
"She revealed, and then started shaking like a leaf, and dropped to the floor. Please, you have to help me!"
Cat opens the portal again, and we run through, finding Marinette curled in a small ball. Instantly, I kneel down in front of her, and Kagami grasps her hand. "Marinette, honey, can you hear me?" Incoherent words spout from her mouth, and I glance across at Cat. "Detransform, Adrien. Maybe you can calm her down." Cat looks torn, rubbing Marinette's back in soothing circles. "But I need her permission." "Cat, she may die! Detransform!" Kagami screams at him.
Then a quiet voice speaks. "Detransform, Kitten. You have my permission." Cat gazes down at Marinette, and drops his head. "Claws In."
You could hear a pin drop as Marinette reaches for Adrien. "A-Adrie-" she slips away, and her head falls back. "She's okay, isn't she?"
"She will be. Help me carry blankets to the couch, and let's get a cup of tea ready." Five minutes later, Marinette is sprawled across Adrien's lap, and both her hands are intertwined through hers.
None of us know when she'll wake, but she seems to be sleeping peacefully.
"Why did she react like the way she did?" Adrien asks, an hour later, stroking Marinette's hair. "She was so afraid you reject her and walk away." Adrien's face pales. "All this time, that's what she was afraid of? That would love her any less then I do now?"
"We all have insecurities," Kagami says. "Any news about Jupiter?" We both shake our heads. "I think," he takes a deep breath staring down at Marinette. "That when she's strong enough, we resume the hunt for the Butterfly Miraculous. I know that's not his main target, but you have both seen the evils it can do."
"Agreed. When she's strong enough."
Kagami makes us food, and we talk about old times, and I realize Cat and Ladybug are family now, even if Adrien was already family.
Wherever Kagami and I go in the future, I hope Adrien and Marinette are by our side. "You know, I had a dream last night we were at the Temple of the Miraculous. You, me, Kagami, Marinette. We were all doing different things there, but one of the Guardians called us family. And we are. Would you go where Kagami and went?"
Adrien smiles. "I'd have to talk to Marinette, but yes. We are family, many times over."
Kagami volunteers to sit with Marinette for a bit while Adrien rests, and I rest my head against Kagami's shoulder. "How did you know that was going to happen?" she asks. "I didn't."
Sure, Valentine's Day started playful, and now turned serious, but there's one thing that hasn't changed. Love. "I'm so glad we're all together," Kagami sighs, her voice slurring with sleep. "Time for bed, love. I'll sit with her for now."
Kagami heads to bed, and I watch the moon rise. Hopefully, tomorrow the brooch will be found. I know Marinette will be glad to find it too.
I wonder what Jupiter is up to right now, plotting and planning schemes. Its to bad that either feel love like my family does, or loves themselves.
The only love they love is power and riches. But that's a temporary happiness, and a family is forever.
