March 8, 1997

Excitement thundered the halls of Hogwarts as Harry left his common room. Every student was excited to resume the season of Quidditch and forget the horrors of the chamber. While there was still a buzz of rumours about, mostly the school had settled. And now everyone was ready for the Ravenclaw and Gryffindor match. Harry was ready to get back on his broom. Practice was one thing, but an actual game was just something else.

As he made his way towards the great hall to eat his breakfast, Harry bumped into Carlisle. His normally chipper best friend looked rather ill.

"What's wrong with you?" asked Harry.

Carlisle rubbed his hands vigorously over his face. "Father sent an owl."

"Bad news?"

"You could say that." Carlisle screwed up his nose. "He said the Minister is sending an representative to investigate the events of what happened in the chamber."

"That I already know."

"Do you know who?" Carlisle reached out and grabbed Harry's arm, making him stop.

Harry shook his head. He didn't really care who they sent. There wasn't anything to find beyond what he and Harvey had already explained.

"Dolores Umbridge." The blank expression on Harry's face made Carlisle huff. "The pink witch," he continued, "the undersecretary herself."

Harry placed his hand on Carlisle's shoulder. "I'm sure it will be fine."

"I've had the displeasure of meeting this woman. She's…" He screwed up his face and clenched his fists as he looked for the right word. "Look, she is someone you don't want to mess with."

Harry nodded, patted Carlisle's shoulder and turned to continue towards the stairs that led to the Great Hall.

"Did you hear me?"

"Yes," said Harry, "I heard you. But there isn't much I can do regarding her, is there? Dumbledore already informed me that there would be an investigation, I'm surprised it has taken them this long to show up. And besides, they won't find anything. Harvey and I told them what happened."

Carlisle huffed. "They don't care what you told them. They clearly want to discredit you, that is why they are sending her!"

"Carlisle, breathe. I spend my days with Severus Snape. I know how to deal with difficult people."

Carlisle eyes widened. "Snape! You can't compare this woman to Snape. He's may as well be Professor Trelawney compared to Umbridge."

Harry rolled his eyes and laughed as they climbed the stairs.

"You're laughing!" Carlisle grabbed his hair with both hands and stopped. "You're laughing when I'm trying to warn you."

"Mate, I appreciate it. But can you please just calm down. Getting myself worked up over some government official isn't going to help anything."

Carlisle wanted to argue. Harry could see it in his friends eyes just how much he wanted to keep going but his shoulders sagged and he buried his hands into his pockets.

"Everything is going to be fine."

Harry gave Carlisle another firm pat on his shoulder and directed him up the last few steps. The friends remained silent all the way into the Great Hall. Carlisle wander over towards the Slytherin table while Harry found a spot at the Ravenclaw table.

He managed to enjoy a good breakfast before he left to head towards the Quidditch pitch. He had no plans to wait around for Fleur to arrive as she had her own school event to attend and he had no idea at what time his parents would arrive. Harry knew that everyone was coming; his mum, dad, James and Remus. As it was the first match back, and it was also Ravenclaw verses Gryffindor, it was important for everyone.

Harvey couldn't stop himself from looking. The Marauders Map was amazing. He found himself getting lost in watching as different people traversed about the castle. He'd noticed that Dumbledore tended to pace quite frequently in his office. He had also noted how often the castle seemed to have visitors. The map in itself was an amazing marvel and he couldn't wait to ask his dad about it.

True to his word, he hadn't shown anyone else the map. He'd only pulled it out when he was alone or when the curtains were drawn around his bed at night. But he was also worried about leaving it behind. Harvey had taken to carrying the map around in his back pocket and pulled it out whenever he had a spare minute.

It was also his current reason for running late. Harvey had bunkered down under a tree in an empty courtyard and pulled out the map. His plan was to enjoy the peaceful morning before grabbing breakfast and then heading off to his Quidditch game. However, time had passed quickly, and he had no time left to spare.

With an empty stomach, Harvey rushed towards the Quidditch pitch. He would have just enough time to get dressed and get a few stretches in. At least, he hoped that he would.

Just as he reached the pitch, his name was called out. Standing in the line to head into the pitch's grandstand was his family. Sirius and Remus, and his parents. Even little Grace was bundled up against his mother's chest sleeping soundly. He gave them all a big wave and a smile before he rushed inside.

Harvey received a disapproving frown from Oliver as he entered. "Where have you been?" he demanded.

"Sorry," said Harvey, "I lost track of time." He yanked down his tie and started unbuttoning his shirt.

"It's our first game back, and it's against Ravenclaw. I need you on your A game."

Harvey nodded. "I know. I said I'm sorry."

Oliver let out a long sigh. "Yeah, just hurry up."

The crowd roared with excitement as the Gryffindor team flew out onto the pitch. Sirius clapped for his old house. He had always loved watching the games and cheering on James when they'd been students. James cheered as Harvey flew past, waving his Gryffindor scarf excitedly.

"Who do we think will be the winner today?" asked Remus.

Lily shrugged. "I have no idea. I just hope they both have fun."

James chuckled. "Harvey's a natural. Maybe it's time Harry realised he isn't unbeatable."

Sirius smirked. "I wouldn't be so bold, Prongs." He nudged shoulder's with his best friend. "Harry is a natural and has years of experience."

James narrowed his eyes, a smile still on his lips. "Let's make it interesting."

"Terms?"

"Other than bragging rights, lets put down 50 Galleons?"

Lily frowned. "Really? You two are betting on your children?"

Sirius and James glanced at one another and then at Lilly. They both shrugged sheepishly before Series said, "Bet."

With a firm shake they turned back to the grounds as Ravenclaw came flying out to join Gryffindor.

The game that followed was unexpected by most. It started out as most do, both the chaser for each team put in a good fight. The quaffle was tossed back and forth, both teams managing to block or steal the quaffle more than once. It was only after fifteen minutes of play did Ravenclaw manage to score the first goal. They also managed to score the next goal, but Gryffindor quickly followed up by scoring the two following goals.

The players moved back and forth, the Weasley twins managing to startle a few of the Ravenclaw chasers with some well directed blugers, but for Harry and Harvey they were rather still. Harry slowly rotated high above the pitch, almost level with the top of the towers. Harvey was a few meters below him. Harvey's attention swapped back and forth between the players and searching the skies of the golden snitch. Harry wasn't following his teammates at all.

Harvey pulled his broom higher and grinned at his older brother. "At this rate, it won't be either of us deciding the outcome."

Harry grinned. "Sometimes it's the seekers job to put his team out of their misery."

"You'll have to tell me what that feels like," teased Harvey.

Harry let out a barking laugh. "Cocky, aren't you?"

Harvey gave him a cheeky grin and moved his broom slightly away.

Harry did wonder what would happen if Harvey managed to beat him. He liked to believe that the taste of defeat wouldn't be bitter, especially if it was Harvey whom he lost too. His younger brother was very talented on the broom, and that wasn't surprising, as James was great on a broom. So good in fact, that Harry's father had told him more than once that James would have become a professional player if not for the war. The war that instead directed him to become an Auror.

A flash of gold in Harry's eyes made him turn. The snitch. It was zipping around the Ravenclaw goal post. At the same moment that Harry snapped his broom forward, Harvey pushed off too. Both brothers barreled towards the posts as the Ravenclaw chasers moved the quaffle. Harry, who was higher up, had more room to avoid his teammates as he zoomed over the top post and followed the snitch down towards the ground. However, Harvey slowed as he pulled back to avoid crashing into the Ravenclaw with the quaffle.

Harry followed the snitch down and pulled up as the snitch zipped straight along the pitch, barely a few inches from the grass below, back towards the Gryffindor goal. Harvey was a few lengths behind. The snitch, seemingly to know how close Harry was, banked to the right. Harry followed, having to go wide as his speed was too much for a sharp turn. The snitch zipped towards the grandstand, giving Harvey a chance to fly in beside Harry and keep level as they flew up and over the heads of the crowd.

The snitch went up and down, over the heads of spectators as it moved around the pitch, before it decided to head back towards the centre of the pitch. Both brothers knocked shoulders as they turned. Harry glanced at Harvey's broom as it spun too far after their impact and forced Harvey to stop completely. Harry glanced back ahead but the snitch was gone. He slowed his broom and let out a sigh.

"Keep your eyes on the prize," he muttered to himself.

Harry scanned the pitch as Harvey stopped beside him. "This one is a tricky bugger."

Harry nodded. "I have found that some are harder to catch than others."

"And yet you've catch every single one you've gone up against."

Harry shrugged. "Someone has to catch it."

Harvey laughed and Harry spotted the snitch, behind Harvey. And for the first time, he hesitated before moving. Harvey had no idea the snitch was behind him, he was too busy laughing at Harry. And while he wanted Harvey to win. No victory was sweet if it was handed too you.

Harry moved his broom and yelled, "Don't get distracted, little brother," as he flew past him.

Harvey yelled out behind him, his words broken by the whistling of the wind in his ears.

The snitch followed a similar pattern. It stuck low to the ground before flying up and over the crowds heads. Harry noticed it seemed to be following a similar pattern and tried to anticipate it. He cut to the left, cutting across the field away from the snitch. Harvey stayed close on the snitches tail, his head glancing towards Harry for a moment before staying focused on the snitch. Harry watched the snitch reach one goal post before heading back towards the centre of the pitch. Straight towards him. Harry smiled and pressed down, pushing his broom a little faster. Harvey, as he came hurtling towards him, stretched out his arm. He was going for the catch. Harry couldn't help but smile, but he wasn't giving up just yet.

Harvey's eyes flickered between the snitch and Harry. They were on a collision course. If neither of them didn't bank, or if the snitch didn't change direction, they would crash into one another. But Harvey stayed his course.

Harry lifted his hand from his broom and pressed his chest straight against the stick of his broom. Harvey's arm stayed outstretched but he clenched his eyes closed, missing it, as Harry at the last second twisted. He pushed his broom up, so he was upside down and flew over Harvey's head. Their fingers brushed as Harry's hand enclosed around the golden ball and they passed one another.

"Harry Black has caught the snitch! Ravenclaw wins!"

The crowd cheered loudly as Harry righted himself and lifted his hand holding the snitch high. He smiled widely as his teammates cheered around him.

Sirius hollered from his place in the crowd. "That's my boy!" He flung his arm around Remus' neck and grinned widely.

"That was impressive," said James.

"Very," chuckled Lilly. "Also seems to mean that you now owe Sirius 50 Galleons."

James shoulders dropped. "Don't you have enough money?"

The friends laughed as they moved towards the stairs.

On the ground, Harry found Harvey. He looked sad but not truly upset. Harry smiled at him warmly and wrapped an arm around his shoulders.

"You played well," said Harry.

"Thanks." Harvey sighed. "You outsmarted me."

"Don't worry, one day—if you're lucky—you might work it out and beat me." Harry ruffled his hair.

Harvey smacked away his hand and laughed as they moved towards the team rooms to get changed.

Once they were both changed, they were greeted outside of the pitch by their family. Harry received a big congratulations from them all and they headed towards Hogsmeade. It was decided lunch at the three broomsticks would be the best way to enjoy the afternoon.

James agreed to as many butter beers as they could consume, as well as to cover the cost of lunch rather than paying the lost bet to Sirius.

Harry found himself completely relaxed as they enjoyed their meal. He enjoyed a cuddle with Grace who was wide awake after the match and enjoyed the funny faces that Harvey kept making at her. When their food was finished, Lily disappeared to change Grace, and the conversation changed to the upcoming investigation.

"I don't understand why they think there is anything more to find?" stated Sirius.

Remus sighed. "We've gone over this. Fudge has snakes in his ears that are trying to cause trouble."

"What with Voldemort trying to return, it shouldn't be surprising that his followers would try to make moves within the Ministry," said James.

Sirius frowned. "Perhaps I need to have a direct conversation with Fudge. My father may have retired, but that doesn't mean he can just make the House of Black roll over."

Harry cracked a smile.

Remus grasped Sirius' hand. "Let's not cause trouble. This investigator will find nothing. She can ask all the questions she wants."

Harvey placed his third empty butterbeer on the table. He grinned widely at his father, who nodded and handed him the coins to get another. Harvey lept up and dashed towards the bar, a large piece of parchment dropping from his pocket.

Harry noticed and sat back. The map. He'd forgotten about it. He stood and collected the map, unfolding it's blank pages.

"Did Harvey get a love letter?" giggled Sirius.

Harry rolled his eyes at his father and sat back down. "No. The Weasley twins gave this to him." He pulled out his wand and tapped the page. "I solemn swear that I am up to no good." The ink of the page burst forth, the introductory cover coming into focus.

All three men's faces became startled. James and Sirius looked excited, while Remus looked uncertain.

"You found our map," said Sirius. He took the parchment from Harry and folded it open. "I haven't seen this since…"

"Since Flich confiscated it when we got busted trying to prank Snape," said James.

"So it is yours," said Harry.

James nodded. "We created it using the Homonculous Charm."

"Mainly so we could sneak out of the castle and join Mooney during the full moon," said Sirius.

Harvey walked back over with his new drink. "Hey, how did you get that?"

Harry explained, "Fell out of your pocket."

"Oh." He sat down.

"Turns out we were right. They did make it," said Harry.

"You did?" Harvey's eyes gleamed with excitement.

"We did," said James.

"That is so cool. It must have been really tricky. The map shows everything!" Harvey was practically bouncing in his chair.

Sirius grinned. "It was definitely one of our best creations."

Remus said, "It did provide useful, but is a dangerous tool in the wrong persons hands."

Sirius huffed. "Ever the downer, Moony." He nudged their shoulders together.

"Hey, Dad," said Harvey.

"Yeah?"

"Whose Wormtail?"

Harry frowned as he watched the three friend's all become slightly pale. His father's face tightened and he clenched his fists. Remus reached out and placed his hand behind Sirius' neck, his thumb rubbing at the base of his neck in a soothing circle, like he was trying to calm him down. James just looked sick.

"I take it from that reaction it isn't a pleasant story," said Harry.

"It's a complicated one," said Remus.

"One they deserve to know," said Sirius.

James nodded.

Harvey glanced at Harry, confused. Harry turned to James who let out a heavy sigh.

He said, "Wormtail was our friend. His real name was Peter Pettigrew. We met him during our first year of Hogwarts. He was also sorted into Gryffindor. It didn't take us all long after we started to become good friends."

"Peter was kind when we were young. But he was the smallest," said Sirius.

"I think he chose to become friends with us mostly out of fear that he would be bullied. He wanted friends to protect him," added Remus.

"For all of Hogwarts, things were fine. We were all friends, got along. It wasn't till after graduation that things changed. With everything that happened with your birth, Harry, we were somewhat occupied. We didn't realise that Peter had changed. He had become distant. He stopped coming around and when we did see him he wasn't the same young man we'd grown up with." James shifted in his seat twisting his hands. "Then we found out about the treat against Harvey."

"You went under the Fidelius charm," said Harry.

James nodded. "Dumbledore needed to cast the charm in secret and we needed to chose a secret keeper. I refused to used Sirius, at the time we weren't speaking, and I thought Remus would be an obvious choice, so I asked Peter. I figured no one would think that I would ask Peter because most people considered him weak. He would be easy to turn against us or to torture the information out of. And so into hiding we went, and I trusted our location to someone I consider my best friend.

"But then, Voldemort found us. He attacked us. Lily and I somehow survived as did the two of you."

"Peter gave you up?" asked Harry.

Sirius sneered. "That's putting it lightly. We found our Peter had joined up as a Death Eater not two weeks after we graduated Hogwarts. He had been a spy for the you know who for years and we had no idea."

"So, when I asked him, he waited and then handed us all over," said James.

Harry couldn't imagine what it must have felt like for all of them to find out their best friend had turned against them. He couldn't imagine having Carlisle doing anything like that.

"What happened to Peter?" asked Harvey. His fourth butterbeer remained untouched on the table.

James rubbed the side of his face and glanced at Sirius.

"I tracked the rat down."

Harry frowned at his dad.

Remus cleared his throat. "We tracked down Peter and confronted him. He wouldn't give us a real reason, just kept rambling nonsense. And he attacked us. He ended up causing a big explosion and he disappeared."

"Disappeared?" Harry asked. "What, he went poof?"

"No idea. There was no trace of him, so I doubt he is dead. But he never appeared again," said Remus.

"Well, with his master gone, he probably wouldn't dare to come out of hiding," said Sirius. "If we do ever find that rat again, I don't know what I'll do."

"Why do you keep calling him a rat?" asked Harvey.

"Peter, like Sirius and I managed to become an animagus. His form is that of a rat," said James.

"So it fit him perfectly," said Harry.

"That it did."

Harry wasn't sure what to think of what he had learned. It was unsettling and to know that he was out there somewhere, hiding. He could be any rat, anywhere.

"So, can I keep the map?" asked Harvey.

Dolores Umbridge gazed out at the grounds that surrounded the Hogwarts castle. What a place it was. It had been many years since she had graced its halls and she was proud of all that she had accomplished since she had left. It made her smile to be back knowing that she was seeing that justice was going to be served.

"Headmaster Dumbledore has asked that I escort you up to his office."

Dolores turned to face Minerva McGonagall. She ran her eyes up and down the tall and graceful witch and gave her a proud smile. "I remember the way, Professor."

Minerva face remained neutral. "He insisted."

"Very well."

Dolores walked along side Minerva towards the great staircase. As they began the climb she asked, "What can you tell me Professor of Mister Harrison Black?"

Minerva kept her eyes forward. "He is a brilliant student who will no doubt be remembered for generations."

"That is high praise for someone so young."

"Mr Black is exceptional."

"So exceptional that he could have tricked such experienced witches and wizards such as yourself?"

Minerva stopped in her tracks. She narrowed her gaze at Dolores. "The facts are clear, Ms Umbridge. Mr Black and Mr Potter were faced with dark magic down in the chamber. Dark magic that Lockhart fell victim too."

Dolores scoffed. "You expect me to believe that a brilliant wizard like Gilderoy Lockhart died but two under-aged wizards survived?"

"I wouldn't go so far to say Gilderoy was brilliant. He was clever, to be sure. But his kind of tricks would never have allowed him to escape such a situation."

Dolores pursed her lips and huffed. "Well, I suppose we shall find out."
