"Hey Baby," Elijah heard Bonnie answer the phone for Niklaus on the other end.

"Is Elijah treating you alright? " He saw Bonnie roll her eyes through the mirror.

"Nik be calm your brother is perfectly fine," she said

"I didn't ask that," he said

"I still answered your question," Bonnie said, Elijah turned the couple out and focused on the drive to the hospital. He wasn't sure what they should expect when they got there cause all Bonnie said was that she paid someone to check on him and had used magic to keep their mouth shut.

During their journey all he could think about was if it was maybe a lie, she had called them to say that the other side was destroyed wouldn't they have sensed that the other side wasn't gone? If Bonnie was carrying him somewhere to trap him? She has no problem killing someone if it means the life of her friends does it also apply to revenge?

Would Niklaus come to look for him? Was he in on the plan? Bonnie couldn't hide anything from him because of the bond they shared. It was even more intensified for his brother because wolves mate for life. It's why Hayley hasn't moved on yet. She hasn't lived the lifetime that she and Jackson would have had together. He wasn't sure if she'll ever be able to move on.

She heard Bonnie's heart calm as she got off the phone, just the sound of his voice and she was at peace.

"Do you plan on wearing a suit this whole trip?" She asked him

"It's why I look best in," Elijah answered, it was a lie he looked good anything but it's what he felt most comfortable in, in a world where he's lost so much luxury, he had kept the one thing that kept him stable made him feel uninformed.

"You're a vampire you'd look good in anything but don't you think suits will draw attention to us?" Bonnie asked

"I'm a vampire Ms. Bennett I can compel anyone to lose themselves without saying the words," he said with a shrug.

"Can any vampire do that or just originals?" She asked him

" Niklaus can do it on a broader aspect than me and well it was for the best the others didn't learn how to do it," Elijah said especially for Kol, he loved his little brother but his impulsiveness was the worst. Maybe his love for Davina will reign him in.

"I should warn you my cousin loves men in suits," Bonnie said. Elijah laughed

" I'd be honoured to catch the eye of a Bennett even if it's just for a while," Elijah said, he saw her smirk from the corner of the mirror. Her cousin would surely lose her fancy when he knew why Bonnie was angry at him.

"Why did you take so long to deal with the anchor?" Elijah ask. If her story was true shouldn't she have rushed to make sure the anchor was properly hidden?

" Well for one my idea was to put it in the ocean and leave it there but then that would lead someone to find it and open up the vault," Bonnie said with a shrug.

"At first I was going to ask Damon or so if they knew of a place but then," Bonnie said trailing off. Those were bumbling idiots and leaving the fate of the other side on them would have been a disaster.

"So why me and not Niklaus?" Elijah asked.

"Well as much I would have loved to spend time with him, his focus needs to be on protecting hope and keeping his ears to the supernatural of New Orleans," Bonnie said

"You are the second best option since you've been undaggered the longest out of all your siblings." She shrugged. Elijah understood, If something happened Klaus wouldn't be able to choose between Hope or Bonnie. He'd want to save the people most vulnerable to him. She thought Elijah would be able to make that decision but he couldn't. If he let anything happen to her Klaus would probably dagger him and throw away the key but she didn't know that.

"Also after the anchor is gone I can focus on looking for the spells I'll need to get rid of the ancestors," Bonnie said

"Why get rid of the ancestors? " Elijah asks wanting to continue the flow of conversation wanting to know more of Bonnie's talking process. She talked a big game and could back it up but he'd never seen her in the forefront, it's so different from her in Mystic Falls where she fell into the background used as a powerhouse moment needed and discarded like a remote when no longer needed unless to change the channel.

Was she okay with being used that way? He never knew this Bonnie, but now he believed he would she didn't hide her pain anymore, she showcased on her face with no shame along with her displeasure. She spoke her mind even if it could get her killed cause she knew if they took her out she wasn't going alone.

She was growing into the Bennett witches he knew before except her power was greater and when she left. The world would know her as Bonnie Bennett not just a Bennett witch.

"The ancestors have been distorted beyond their original purpose." Bonnie said, "at first they were here to loan their power to the living but they started abusing it." Bonnie said.

"After the witches started to thin out. They started to traffick witches out of Africa and dosing them leaving them without magic," Bonnie said "The witches would end up pregnant or impregnating someone else and the baby would disappear." Bonnie said

"Whether the baby died and consecrated or given to another New Orleans family witch," Bonnie said. They became a New Orleans witch giving their magic to them still having no control on how it was used because there was a hierarchy with the ancestors and slaves would be at the bottom. How did she know this and how did it escape him?

"I'm not sure if that's what happening but this book written by different ancestors of Zaci pretty much is alluding to that," Bonnie said

"Then the spell for children to be slaughtered and come back to life was to be done every few centuries," Bonnie said

"The timing of that spell being 300 years and the spell that was on my friend Denes's daughter was interesting," Bonnie said

"I'm sure the spell was more cruel at first but it got more water down as time passed." Bonnie said "Very few people knew how the spell would work and least of all even you vampires didn't know about it " She mused.

Elijah nodded, he thought the spell was passed from coven leader to coven leader until the time to complete the spell came.

"But the spell is to help them rebuild fate on the ancestors." He pointed out.

"They not gods why would our fate need to be rebuilt also no witch should have the power to bring back lives like that, especially of four girls," Bonnie said

"But they have millions of witches in the Well," Elijah said.

"Yes, but nature would have still protested," Bonnie said "But the way Nik describes what happened this time I think there is another side of the ancestors that enables them to swap lives and keep the newly dead witches trapped there for so long," Bonnie said.

"I think the way they were created was more complicated than the other side." Bonnie said

"Every witch in New Orleans dies goes there no choice," she emphasizes. "and the person I know in charge of where spirits may go especially the evil ones would hate the idea of just giving up one unless something greater was at play" Elijah nodded remembering her alluding to something outside the other side existing.

"So you think they are keeping something trapped and using its magic," Bonnie said

She nodded. " it's powerful and maybe the real reason why the ancestor's well was created." Bonnie said.
" When I have the anchor situation under control I'll have more time to research why it was created," Bonnie said

"More time to focus on the spirits," Elijah suggested

"Yes, when my mind is focused they'll lead me to the ancestors and my visions of the past. " Bonnie said pitting her head against the seat and closing her eyes. She put on what she said was her 'outside scarf' to protect her hair.

Elijah let her rest and thought about what she told him.

Could she really do it? Was she right that the ancestors channel something else? If nature was to protest when they brought those girlsback to life was the thing the channel more powerful than nature?

What did shemean by the person who makes the decision for the fate ofthe other side?

"So go in get the body and we can make our way to Lucy," Bonnie said stretching against the car holding in a yawn.

Elijah watches back at the witch.

" you not coming in with me?" Elijah asked

"I've seen him already, plus I'm about to fall down from tiredness," Bonnie said

" we'll be staying at a place nearby," Elijah said she raised her eyebrows at him.

"I'm sure you need no help carrying a body Elijah," she said motioning her hand to shoo him. elijah turned and opened the door, he needed to have a little trust in Bonnie, she said her cousin didn't care about him which is why Abby was a vampire now. so she had no reason to kill him plus he felt the energy of the anchor and something else.

He walked to where the source was he saw a black-haired man sitting in the chair next to a man on the bed, who assumed was the anchor, it looked like it was anaemic, and darkness settled below its eyebags, he was surprised he wasn't completely desiccated. Elijah turned his head back to the vampire, he was young that much he knew but there was something strange about him. The vampire smirked at him, his eyes widening.

"You must be one of Bonnie's friends, she always has the best friends," he said giving him a predatory smile.

"tell her to come," he said.

"Who are you?" Elijah asked

"Kai," he responded. Elijah nodded, he remembered Niklaus telling him about someone named Malakai Parker was it the same person? he warned Elijah to not any supernatural beings touch him because he was an unusual witch, he had no magic and used others. but he was a mere vampire now and he knew that his brother wanted him dead. He heard Bonnie's footsteps come play. should he stop her? he knew the reason Niklaus wanted him dead was because of her.

"Fine I'll keep you comp-" she began but she felt his presence though a bit different, it still felt downright parasitic.

"Hello, bon bon." Elijah watched as Kai's eyes darkened at the sight of Bonnie and his smile got more twisted. he smelt boonies fear and felt her magic turn angry and defensive. Elijah instinctively moved in front of her Whoever Kai was he hurt Bonnie and he couldn't let him leave here alive.

He stepped towards the young vampire but Bonnie grabbed his arm to stop him, squeezing him. "Come on Bonnie you know I have no interest in hurting your friends," Kai said with a pout "as much it would be interesting to taste the magic of an old one, no one would taste as good as you especially with me being a vampire and all,"

"Why are you here Kai?" Bonnie asked pushing her chin off

"Looking for you of course," he said rolling his eyes "After I discovered you left mystic falls there was no real reason for my redemption," he said with a creepy smile.

" so I had a wonderful idea, kill my sister at her wedding and become a vampire," Kai said "Now I have an unlimited magic source, though I think I get thirsty a lot faster than other vamps, not ripper levels though," Kai said excitedly to talk to his little obsession again.

"So I roamed for a few months and then I felt something awfully familiar passing this house." Kai said throwing up his hands. "Bennett magic,"

he was going to use the Bennett he found here to lure her out, he's smart.

"you know I don't want to see you again." Bonnie said, "you remember my promise back in the prison world." Bonnie sneered

"you know if you wanted me dead I would be already," Elijah moved out Bonnie's grip. and step close to the anchor, feigning disinterest in the two.

kai stepped closer to her reveling in her fear for him still.

"Being a vampire just makes this all more exciting," Kai chuckled. elijah watched as he took her chin, bonnie spat on his face. kai took his finger wiped the spit off and licked it off his finger.

"have some shame your boyfriend is here," Kai said. Elijah seeing enough flashed ripped kai heart before he could react. He watched as he folded and fell. bonnie blinked a few times and moved away. he watched as she started to hyperventilate. he took her handkerchief and offered it to her.

"go wait in the car," Elijah told her but she shook her head and took a seat. he listened as her heartbeat continuously fastened and slowed down. he went and got her some water. she gulped it down.

"Are you okay," she nodded, everything just felt anti-climatic, she thought when she saw him, she burned him alive but all she could remember was being stuck in that truck with only the sound of him driving to keep her company.

elijah turned away from giving her the respect to gain herself again. he looked at the anchor again. Bonnie refused to give his name, she said to just call him Akir.

"he's not desiccated just asleep," Bonnie said coming up next to him. "he can never be completely desiccated because he's the anchor. it made Elijah curious was it like being daggered?

"How does it feel?" Elijah asked he remembered, something about the pain of death. how did she survive that? Is it as bad as he thinks it is?

"Do you want to feel?" she asked him, Elijah hesitated, he had felt he could handle it but it would still leave him vulnerable would it be enough to kill him at that moment?

"you sure?" she asked again, her brother shuddering at the memory as he nodded.

"yes" he said, she sighed and swallowed hard. he needed to get more insight into who bonnie was and this was the best way to do that. She pulled out a needle and thread out of her pocket.

"Where did that come from?" he asked.

"If things are near enough I can think about it and it appears." she explained, he was still confused. "get some of his blood, he followed her instruction and watched as she took the blood and drew through the thread.

she took his index finger and threaded through it, it made him feel a bit uncomfortable. and she started to mumble

"Tom wished his life could be like John's, He thought his life could be so grand If he could just switch and take his stand. He wanted to use this thread and blood, To make his wish come true,
To experience what John had done, And to make his own mark in the sun." Bonnie recited five times before pulling away from him when the thread, reminded him of the husband's stitch.

Elijah watched as Bonnie took a seat again and then he turned to face the other person in his room, his eyes wide open this time, non-blinking displaying his pain and Elijah felt aware of his soul for the first time, how it moved around his body, of the darkness that it embodied.

He saw a shadow approach the man, he heard Bonnie shift in her chair holding her breath. a woman came into clear, she appeared to be in her late forties, and her nose was running. she died from magic exhaustion. the witch smiled at him before touching the anchor, at first Elijah felt hollowed, his senses felt dulled, and his fangs instinctively descended. Elijah bit his lip drawing blood but compared to the pain he was feeling that felt like being kissed. he felt himself stumble and try to grab onto something, his insides felt like it was boiling and frozen at the same time, and his eyes felt like they were going to pop out of their sockets. he felt his blood rush up his throat like acid. his skin ached and his bones trembled. he understood now, he wasn't only feeling the pain of death but he felt how the witch died in addition. when the pain subsided he felt his body still vibrating, buzzing trying to heal something that wasn't there. he felt the pain sear right through his soul.

He looked at Bonnie who stood in front of him as he was on his knees, she offered back his handkerchief.

"I didn't think you'd bleed," she contemplated Elijah wiped his face, and indeed his nose was bleeding. he looked at Bonnie's eyes and all he saw was empathy. he got up from his knees.

"do you need blood?" she asked, elijah declined and focused on getting the thread out of his finger. he didn't want to experience that again. how did she live through that? She didn't deserve that? just one soul passing through and he was on his knees. and she faced many deaths every day at every hour.

"I forgot how vengeful Bennetts can be," elijah said, he was luck. Lucky that bonnie didn't care enough to get her revenge on him.

Elijah watched as the water slid off his body, he still hadn't fully recovered from the spell Bonnie had done earlier, he always thought himself to have a high pain tolerance, but to experience that you have completely dulled his senses but elijah thinks that the pain would be enough to bring it back. he drank the blood of the receptionist and tried to use bourbon to get rid of the buzzing but nothing helped. he wondered how Bonnie did this his ears twitched when he heard his phone.

He stepped out of the bathroom and went to answer it.

"Hello," he answered as he wrapped his towel around his waist.

"What happened?" Niklaus asked agitated. He was surprised that he took this long to call was he ignoring the bond?

"she's fine" elijah answered, he was sure he felt Bonnie was sleeping. he would have known if she died, it would have caused him to feel like he was missing something.

"I know but earlier I felt her fear," it reminded Klaus of the nightmares she had when he wasn't there. the fear stopped him in his tracks, and then there was just rage and indecision.

Elijah filled him in on what happened with Kai, to put his mind at ease but it made Niklaus feel worse.

"Thank you," he said after a while of silence, he knew Bonnie wasn't ready to kill Kai and was glad she didn't have to make that move.

"No need," elijah said which reminded Klaus of the protective side Elijah had for his sisters.

"She grew on you," Niklaus stated. elijah didn't confirm that she did but, in those few hours, he saw what his other siblings saw and he saw much more, he saw the leader he aspired to be.

"You know she saw her mom again," Niklaus said "Her mother made slaughter 12 witches, the last time her mother saw her she became a murderer," he said

"Do you know where she is?" elijah asked him.

"Of course," he responded, elijah nodded, he knew that Klaus was falling for Bonnie and he would want to be able to have access to everything that made her happy.

"This bond," Elijah started

"Elijah I don't have time for your lectures." the danger this bond could cause to his family, on hope, he wasn't thinking, he didn't know it was forming until it was too late.

"The more you try to hide, the more it hurts her," elijah said instead, Niklaus sighed.

"How do you love someone knowing you're going to lose them?" he asked, elija heard his brother's vulnerability. it reminded him of the night Klaus's wolf was bound. as it had been so long since his brother truly leaned on him.

"You just have to enjoy the moments you have, you knew the risks when you chose her." it was the best he could say, he bonded before but it would never be as intense as Klaus's, he never bonded before and wolves mated for life, that's why Hayley still mourned Jackson's death.

"What if I break her the way I've broken you guys," he asked

"You didn't break us Niklaus, Mikeal and Esther did." Elijah asserted he heard Rebekah's voice in the background and Klaus said his goodbyes.

Elijah dressed and sat, thinking about his conversation with Klaus its been a while since he'd bonded with anyone maybe he needed to make room for love in his life again.

The buzzing stopped at that thought. elijah eyes closed enjoying the moment he was finally able to put the remnants of the spell away.

He would make this trip easier for Bonnie the next time she lifted a finger to complete the spell to hide away the anchor forever, he would do his best to help her in any way he could. he no longer cared to prove he was an honourable man.
