Danganronpa in: The Frog Prince

A retelling of The Brothers Grimm's Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, in the old-age kingdom called Towa Kingdom, there lived a princess knight named Shuichi Saihara. She was a curious, but brave knight. Her kingdom was always very busy doing all of the work like carrying the sack of rice, watering the plants and taking care of their home. It was just another normal day just as always until something began to change.

Shuichi was walking around in her castle until she saw something green in the kitchen. She noticed a green drink sitting on a table. Curious, Shuichi walked to the drink to check it out. "Would it be one of the chef's lime milkshakes?" Shuichi asked in her mind. "Nah, it might be fine. What could have happened?" Shuichi then picked up the green drink and drank all of it. Suddenly, this wasn't an ordinary tasty treat, it was a green potion made by an evil wizard you may never know!

Soon, Shuichi turned into a green frog! From head to toe, she looked at herself and was shocked. She shouldn't learn a lesson about drinking something if she doesn't know what's in it. Shuichi then hops onto a spell book. She opens it and finds something that can break the potion's curse. It was said:

"The Frog Potion can be affected into a frog when it is drunk up. The effect can be removed if they landed on a hard thing, turning back into normal."

Determined, Shuchi hopped out of her castle and throughout the Towa Kingdom. The villagers who thought Shuichi was a poisoned frog whacked their brooms, but she ran out of the kingdom. Shuchi hopped onto the path until she noticed a pond in front of a castle. "All of this hopping made me wanna take a rest inside this pond." Shuchi said. She dive into the pond.

Suddenly, a prince named Kokichi Oma was playing outside with a golden ball. Kokichi was a spoiled prince who always loved awesome things. He played with his golden ball when he was bored. This is the Prince's favorite game.

[Kokichi Oma]

My golden ball.

Oh, my dear ball!

May you go up high as the sun and come back into my arms.

Suddenly, boing, boing, tap! Tumble, tumble and SPLASH! Prince Kokchi missed the golden ball and it fell into a pond.

[Kokichi Oma]

My golden ball!

It fell into the pond!

What should I do?

Suddenly, Shuichi, who had turned into a frog from her kingdom, came out of the pond. "Why are you so sad, Prince?" Shuichi asked. "My golden ball fell into the water!" Kokichi sobbed. Shuichi then asked,

[Shuichi Saihara]

Oh, Prince,

What will you do for me if I find your golden ball?

[Kokichi Oma]

Anything!

The clothes? The crown?

Anything, anything you may ask?

[Shuichi Saihara]

No, no, that's not what I have asked.

I want us to be best friends until the very end!

Kokichi Oma: Um…sure.

I want to eat together with you!

Everymeal and snacks, too!

Kokichi Oma: Oh…okay.

I want to go to bed by your side all through the night!

Kokichi Oma: Okay! Okay! I just said "Okay!"

[Kokichi Oma]

But now, go and find my golden ball!

After that, Shuichi dived back into the pond to bring the golden ball back to Prince Kokichi. While waiting for the turquoise frog, Kokchi felt a little uneasy and thought, "What a silly frog! How can a frog and a prince be best friends?" A moment later, Shuichi came back with the golden ball in her hands. "I found it!" Shuichi said as she gave the golden ball back to Prince Kokichi.

[Kokichi Oma]

My golden ball!

Prince Kokichi quickly ran away with his golden ball. "Hey, what about the promise I have given you?" Shuichi called out. But Kokichi didn't turn back and instead quickly ran back home to his castle. Feeling disappointed, Shuichi said, "Maybe on the next day, I would knock on the door and someone will let me inside the castle!" So, Shuchi jumped back into the pond and waited for the next day.

The next day, Prince Kokchi sat down for a meal. Suddenly, he heard a loud knock at the door.

[Shuichi Saihara]

Please, open this door for me, Prince!

By the pond, you made a promise.

I know you're honest!

Please, open this door for me, oh, Prince!

Soon, the headmaster of Prince Kokichi's castle, Jin Kirigiri, heard the frog's shouting. He speaks over on the intercom. "Kokichi, can you tell what this noise is?" Jin asked. Filled with regret, Kokichi then explains to Jin about the whole situation and of course, the promise he has made to Shuichi. Hearing his words, Jin explained,

[Jin Kirigiri]

A promise made is a promise kept.

Don't ignore the one who helped you.

It's your turn to accept.

Now, you may open the door for her.

Prince Kokichi had no choice, but to do as Jin told him. He opened the door and the gross and ugly frog jumped through the door!

"AH!"

[Shuichi Saihara]

I'm so glad to see you again,

My prince!

Shuichi jumped up and down on the table. She kept asking Kokichi for something she needed to do.

[Shuichi Saihara]

Bring me up on the table.

I'll sit next to my prince!

Hand me over the gold plate, the golden plate.

I'll eat next to my prince!

Shuichi jumped back and forth around the table and ate up delicious food. Prince Kokichi began to feel anxious and lost his appetite. After the meal, Shuichi patted her tummy and said, "Thank you for the meal, prince! I was wondering if you let me come into your room? I wanna sleep on the soft bed and fall asleep!" Kokichi's tears began to flow out. He didn't want to do it, but he remembered the words Jin had given him.

[Kokichi Oma]

What was I thinking?!

I wasn't thinking!

Eew! Eew!

She's so gross!

Are we friends now?!

It's hard to admit!

I made a promise.

I should keep it.

Shuichi jumped into Kokichi's room. She tried to climb onto the bed, but she was way too short. "Pick me up!" Shuichi said. "I wanna sit next to you!" But Kokichi didn't listen. "Pick me up, or I'm gonna tell your headmaster on you!" Shuichi warned.

The prince tried to keep his temper,

But he couldn't stand it any longer.

He threw the frog away!

Shuichi was thrown to the floor. She began to wiggle. Just like what the spell book was saying, she was hit on a hard wall and soon she began to lighten up. Her green hair started to shine and her face started to glow. Shuichi's frog form turned into a curious and brave princess knight again!

[Shuichi Saihara]

I was cursed by a strange potion.

I was turned into a frog which was gross and tragic.

Only you can save me.

You broke the curse and set me free!

The frog turned out to be Shuichi who was from the Towa Kingdom!

[Shuichi Saihara]

You saved my life, oh prince!

Let us go to my kingdom,

And live happily, happily ever after!

Please say "Yes"!

Prince Kokichi nodded. Prince Kokichi and Princess Shuichi left together in a carriage!
