Isabel's eyes fluttered open and she let out a groan. The back of her head throbbed. The last thing she remembered was 'Deputy Jameson' asking for a ride before everything went black. Isabel reached a hand up to feel the back of her head, but a pull on her wrist stopped her.
Isabel looked to find a shackle clasped around her wrist attached to a thick, iron chain. Her eyes traveled the length of the chain to find the opposite end chained to the floor near her leg.
Isabel's eyes flicked over to find the same iron shackle clasped around her other wrist with the matching iron chain link chained to the floor near her left leg.
"Are you awake Bible Thumper?"
Isabel lifted her head to spot the familiar voice sitting with his back against the wall, wrists shackled and chained to the floor. Jade green eyes met her brown ones when she locked her sight on the bruised, dirty, still-breathing deputy, tousled blonde hair falling into his eyes, his shirt torn in some areas.
Deputy Jameson arched an eyebrow when Isabel broke out into a sudden fit of laughter. "I'm sorry, did I say something funny?"
Isabel shook her head. "I'm just happy to see your ugly mug after these past few weeks," she replied good-naturedly.
Deputy Jameson frowned. "I have a pretty mug." He added, "I'm glad to see our situation didn't dampen your sense of humor." Changing the subject…..
"Isabel I've been gone for about a month now."
"I'm well aware, náséé'e. I have been looking for you."
"For me?" a shocked Deputy Jameson asked. "You were worried about me?"
"Of course I was worried about you!" cried a very appalled Isabel. "Why would I not be?"
"We got into a fight at work, if you recall." Deputy Jameson reminded. "We both declared we did not care about one another in the heat of the moment, Süße Bärchen."
Isabel had no idea what he said, but the gentle sweet tone of his voice indicated it was some thing endearing. "Charles…." Isabel's voice was low and scolding, warning laced the tone of her scolding.
"I know, you already have someone else." Charles smiled at Isabel's frown. "I know. Can you blame me, Süße Bärchen?"
Isabel gaped at the blonde German. "Can you repeat that in English?"
Charles chuckled. "Only if you tell me what you called me."
Isabel informed, "I called you 'my friend,' in my native tongue." She smiled when Charle's eyes widened. "Your turn, náséé'e."
"I called you Sweet Little Bear." Charles chuckled at Isabel's frown.
Isabel opened her mouth to chide the German. "I suppose that's better than Bible Thumper." she replied instead.
Deputy Jameson changed the subject. "Isabel, why are we being held hostage in some basement?"
Isabel's eyes scanned the basement, taking in the familiarity of the basement she now sat on the floor of. Realization dawned on her.
"Unless Mathias rescues us, we're going to die on a stone altar."
náséé'e: my friend
Süße: Sweet
Bärchen: Little Bear
Update For All Of You Lovely People
I apologize for not updating in a long while. I have been busy with regular life and I'm currently rewatching Longmire for what feels like a hundredth time in a row because the next set of chapters I plan on writing are to show how Isabel and Mathias first crossed paths before actually meeting for the first time and started becoming part of each other's life. Please take my story with a grain of salt because there is so much detail from the show I'm trying to figure out how to put in my chapters as well to make my own, but also keep to the Longmire storyline too.
Sincerely - with SO MUCH love -
Lady Huggins. A.K.A Tylene.
