WHIRLWIND!
The shadows were lambasted with a fierce gust as Vergo fired his nameless SP Skill.
He then reacted in shock as the shadows were mostly unaffected by his attack, save for their taunting facial features turning into a full-scale chortle.
"It had no effect!" He softly noted as he got back into an offensive stance.
Vergo looked towards Chika, who was now contemplating on whether to attack or flee, as she just saw the attack the blonde use be deemed ineffective.
DASH!
She took some courage, however, and lunged towards the shadow to her left.
JABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJAB JABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJAB JABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJAB JABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJABJAB!
She then rapidly jabbed her spear into the shadow's abdomen, creating any holes within its midsection as she pierced through.
LEAP!
The Leanbox Oracle leaped back from her previous position, skidding next to Vergo as she saw the holes last within the shadow she inflicted them upon.
"Did it work?" Chika asked as she studied her spear.
The shadow clone's injuries started to close up before long, and returned to its undamaged state.
"Does that look like dead to you, Chika?" Vergo deadpanned.
"At least I didn't just blink at it!" The Oracle retorted.
"Y'know what, I'm not even going to dedicate time into explaining why that was an actual attack. They're about to strike!"
SHADOW PUNCH!-
Vergo looked back ahead as the shadows stretched their arms at an incredible speed towards them, elongation taking place as they approached.
GRAB!
DIVE!
ROLL!
The CPU Candidate dived, rolled to the side, grabbed Chika, and moved her away from the incredibly fast strike.
"Shite- Get down!" The blonde god yelled as he grabbed Chika before dodging the attacks.
"Oof!" The grenette guttered, as she narrowly evaded the shadow hands.
RETRACT!
RISE...!
KICK!
SINK!
The stretched-out shadow hands retracted as the shadows returned to their original position. The shadowy duo then raised a singular leg, before kicking down, stretching them as the appendage disappeared through the darkness of the room.
"?!" Chika and Vergo reacted as they saw the legs disappear, the blonde now on top of the greenette on all fours in the process of getting up as they observed the odd move the shadows made.
DOUBLE KICK!
They were in for a painful surprise, however, when Chika suddenly lurched forward as she was kicked in the back with both feet as the shadow legs managed to use her shadow that was blocking Vergo's light as a medium to attack her, as she cried out in pain.
SLAM!
"Ack!" The Oracle yelled as she was flanked by the shadows' synchronized attack.
And to make it worse, she was sent so fast, that Vergo was also caught off guard as he was knocked with Chika as her body was moving with enough force to send the two of them straight into the ceiling, and cracking it as they slammed against the marble roof of the floor.
"Grgh!" Vergo clenched his teeth as he bore with the force of Chika's body. He'd straight up yell in pain though, as his own back crashed against the ceiling as he felt the hardness of the wall press up against his speed as the two of them cracked it from sheer velocity.
"Grah!" Vergo guffawed as he felt the wall and Chika's body crush him, the former damaging him as he cushioned the latter's impact, only causing him more pain.
FALL!
The two fell back down from the ceiling, and due to the Basilicom's height, they did have some distance until they hit the floor, but wouldn't be out of the attack yet, as the rest of the body of shadows appeared where they were.
The shadow's red eyes began to shine as they prepped another attack, waiting for the right moment to strike.
Chika was still wincing from the powerful attack to her back but turned around in time to see the two charging an eye attack to their position, as Vergo's eyelids were shut in pain.
"They're going to attack us again!" Chika warned as Vergo opened one eye in reaction to her warning.
GRAB!
"Hold on...!"
JET!
JET!
GRAZE!-
PIERCE!
Vergo told her as he grabbed her by the waist before holding her closer to him just as the eye attack fired, pressurized water being ejected from the red sockets as the four beams just barely missed a huddled Chika as the first two grazed the CPU Candidate's left shoulder, as the other two pierced through his shoulder.
"!" Chika held on as she pulled towards the taller ally's body, ignoring the slightly pleasant sensation as she got in position to evade the attack.
The shadows fired their attacks as Chika managed to evade, but Vergo was grazed and ultimately struck in the shoulder by a set of Space Ripper Stingy Eyes.
"Bloody hell! Hrnk!" Urgency was made priority over his pain as the CPU Candidate moved at once.
WHOOSH!
JET!
PIERCE!
JET!
PIERCE!
JET!
PIERCE!
JET!
PIERCE!
JET!
PIERCE!
The blonde god winced in pain as he then used the wind as he rolled with Chika in arms, dodging more Space Ripper Stingy Eyes as the Oracle felt the sheer heat of the pressurized water as the attack bore holes through the roof, the Leanboxians barely managing to evade each shot.
Vergo stopped rolling as as he dodged the attacks. He tried to think up of a strategy to defeat the shadows, as he and Chika were on the ropes.
He switched his mode of transportation to sliding as he brainstormed.
The shadows were impervious to physical attacks, that much was certain. Wind was also out of the question since they were mostly unaffected by its effects, so it was safe to assume that all other affinities were equally as useless if he had to guess, especially from sensing that they had traces of fear energy within their being...
But he hadn't tried another medium of energy as yet. But he needed an opening to test it out.
"Chika!" Vergo shouted as he cranedhis neck to dodge a headshot.
JET!
CUT!
BLEED!
"Shite!" The blonde cursed as he looked at the greenette, his face being grazed as the beam barely missed his shades.
"Yes?!"
JET!
MOVE!
The Oracle responded as she looked down, only to move her face to the side to dodge another headshot.
"Can you jab your spear from this distance towards their eyes? I have a plan but I need those lasers eyes or whatever to stop!" The blonde CPU Candidate explained.
"I'll try!" Was her response as she shifted in Vergo's grasp to face the shadows.
Their sniggers were ever present as they continued to spam their Space Ripper Stingy Eyes at their airborne enemies.
Chika carefully aligned her spear towards the heads of the shadows as they stayed locked onto the two of them. Vergo then focused on evading the jets of pressurized water as he moved from side to side as the grenette tried to get a clear shot, to no avail.
"You'll have to keep still if you want me to be accurate!" The Leanbox Oracle told the blonde god as she couldn't find a clear shot as she aimed, due to him moving around so much.
"Alright, you'll have to give me a minute!"
ZIG-ZAG!
JET!
ZIG-ZAG!
JET!
ZIG-ZAG!
JET!
ZIG-ZAG!
JET!
ZIG-ZAG!
Vergo responded as he moved, making the shadows miss their shots as they tried to reorganize their aim to lock back onto the two in the air.
DROP!
"Eek!" Chika squealed at the sudden descent.
JET!
CRASH!
The two clones were about to fire once more, when Vergo suddenly dropped from the air, making them completely miss as they fired and hit a chandelier instead that he positioned himself behind, cutting it off from the ceiling as it fell at a much greater speed due to its mass.
The four jets of pressurized water hit the support of the chandelier behind them as it plummeted like a stone, crashing on the ground as thr clones directed their attention towards the broken chandelier.
FALL!
BOOM!
SHATTER!
"...!" The shadow clones looked towards the broken object as their attention was diverted from the CPU Candidate a fitting the Oracle as Vergo stopped mid-air with his aerokinesis.
STOP!
"Now, Chika!" The blonde whispered, holing her at just the right angle for the perfect opportunity.
"On it!" She replied as she focused, and by using the pressure of her spear thrusts...!
JAB!
JAB!
BOOM!
BOOM!
The heads of the clones were destroyed temporarily as a loud sound echoed throughout the dark room as Chika successfully disabled their opponents.
"Good on ya, lass!"
LAND!
DROP!
DASH!
Vergo congratulated as he dropped the woman on the floor safely before grabbing his staff tightly as he rushed the headless shadowy henchmen.
'If normal and elemental attacks are useless against abominations like them...!' Vergo thought as he focused some of his KI into his staff, making it glow a lime green as Chika became amazed at the vibrant color that shined off the weapon, brightening up the whole room as it radiated.
GRAB!
SHINE!
'...Then something like KI, a spiritual energy should work just fine against enemies of darkness like them!'
ZIG!
ZAG!
SWING!
The blonde continued as he dashed to the side, before returning to the opposite side as he was right upon the two enemies as he grabbed the staff with both hands as he swung the weapon at full force.
"Sei!"
BOOM!
FLASH!
GUARD!
Vergo grunted as he swung at the two vampiric shadows, the staff concentrated with KI slicing through the two like butter before exploding in a bright explosion that lit up the entire room to an almost blinding degree as Chika shielded herself with her spear as she watched in awe.
"This guy has this much power under his belt?! And to think he's the same one who tried to look up my skirt...!" The Oracle awkwardly looked at the fighter's form through squinted eyes as the light died down as she monologued to herself.
JUMP!
TWIRL!
WINDWAVE!
LAND!
SKID...!
ILLUMINATE!
Vergo wasted no time in moving away from the last place he saw the shadows as he leaped back, using his staff as a giant fan as he twirled it to blow away the remaining smoke before landing next to Chika as he summoned another ball of KI as a light source.
The room was now clear of the clones as the only people present were Chika and Vergo.
"That went well... For you at least." Vergo commented as Chika objected to that statement.
"Well?! I got kicked right in my spine! That hurt!"
CRACK!
"My back! My poor back...!" She cried out.
She complained as she cracked her back.
'I should've just kept my mouth shut. Ironic that her back hurts when I carried.' Vergo sweat dropped.
"Chika, I got my shoulder pierced by a laser beam, and you don't see my whining." Vert's brother related her case to his own.
"Well I'm not you, so I wouldn't know how much pain you could handle. But my frame wasn't meant for all this!" She continued.
"You mean you weren't meant for survival instinct, lass? Chika, that's mighty daft." The time traveler shook his head at her reasoning. "What about all that you said before when we were outside?" He continued.
LIGHT!
"I didn't know I had to fight some stretchy armed laser-eyed boogeymen!" Chika gave her point.
LIGHT!
"Well, I guess you're just not as devoted to Vert as I thought." Vergo jabbed at her love for her goddess, which made her turn to him.
LIGHT!
"... What did you just say?" The Oracle dangerously asked.
LIGHT!
"I said, that albeit very unlikely, all that bravado and devotion to Vert is a farce. If something as simple as two shadows can deter you from your mission, then I think you should just stay here, innit?" Vergo said as he walked around, placing some green orbs of KI around the room, making it comfortably lit.
"How dare you assume that I'm not devoted to Vert! I'm the Oracle for crying out loud!" Chika fumed at the blonde for putting her loyalty to Vert into question.
"If you honestly believe that, then let's walk up these stairs. Your loyalty will truly be put to the test, Chika." Vergo goaded as he looked up the flight of stairs.
Said Oracle twirled her spear, the fire of determination reignited in her heart.
"Well then. Let's not linger any longer. We have a Basilicom to take back." The Oracle stated.
"Who's Basilicom? I was under the pretense that this was mine. Don't tell me you plan to be a thief, now." The voice returned as the greenette jolted in surprise.
"You again! Show yourself, ya bloody wanker!" The blonde looked around as he searched for the origin of the seemingly omnidirectional voice.
"Aren't you the plucky brit? You aren't worthy to bask in my precense, but if you continue to invalidate my attempts, then my revelation shall be your undoing."
SINK...!
The voice took a turn for threatening as something emerged from the darkest place of the top of the roof.
"...!"
FALL!
LAND!
THUD!
GUST!...
The eyes of the CPU Candidate and the Oracle shoot up as they see the mass of shadows amalgamate at the area that was darkest, and soon enough the entire body of the mastermind at hand dropped from above as he landed, dust being spread from the ground as a loud thud was heard as he dropped down.
"Tch!" The CPU Candidate grunted as he clutched his spear, Chika readying her spear as she felt the waves of power roll off of him, a feeling of fear attempting to sap her bravery upon looking at the man that just dropped from the ceiling.
ゴゴゴゴ...
"How unfortunate. You had trouble against only two clones. Yet you think you can handle a bout with yours truly. It is indeed, truly humorous." The man's refined and strong voice boomed as his tone alone mixed in with his augmented physiology and fear manipulation was beginning to make the Oracle teeter on uncontrollable fear.
"I-I-I-I-I'm not afraid of you...!" Chika painfully stuttered as her body unconsciously shook with fright as she pointed her spear at him.
...BFFT!
The man just stood there, his face covered by the darkness as his red glowing eyes protruding as he suddenly disappeared, before reappearing in front of Chika's face, their faces inches away as the vampire had his hands at his side as he looked down at Chika.
"-!" Vergo looked around. The man had just disappeared!
He looked until he laid his eyes by Chika, which the taller villain, even taller than him looked down upon the quaking Oracle, his fear energy basically paralyzing her as she was unable to move.
"Is that so? Then why do you stutter? Why do you hesitate? You should be able to strike me down right where I stand! "
"WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
PUNCH!
"Uwak!" Chika yelled in pain as the vampire shot her across the room and into the staircase as she crashed into it, kicking up dust.
CRASH!
The vampire yelled in malicious glee as he clenched his fist and clocked Chika right in the jaw, sending her flying.
"Chika!"
RUSH!
Vergo yelled as he saw that the vampire was rushing towards her downed form to continue the assault.
"Bullocks!"
LUNGE!
WOOSH!
Vergo spat as he lunged towards Chika's last known position as he used the wind to help him move faster.
The two opponents rushed towards the downed Oracle, with the vampire's hand stretched in a thrusting manner for a piercing strike, opposed to the CPU Candidate as he closed in with his staff.
CLOSE IN!
STAB!-
"Die!" The vampire yelled as he went for the kill.
The vampire was upon the cloudy form of Chika as he lunged his arm forward, to puncture a hole in the greenette's head for a one-hit kill.
CRASH!
"NANI-" The vampire yelled as he was blindsided by the pole.
DEFLECT!
But as he moved his hand forward, Vergo's pole crashed into an adjacent stair as it was injected into the flight of stairs at such an angle, that it was just enough to startle the vampire as his hand hit the pole, surprisingly not snapping it in two as his hand was knocked back from the intersection.
"!" Vergo darted his eyes to the side as the vampire was wide open.
"Take this!"
CHARGE!
SHOVE!-
The Leanboxian CPU Candidate charged a blast of KI within his free hand as he then shoved his hand forward, firing the blast.
THRUST!
STAB!
BLAST!
BOOM!
And to make the upset even more effective, Chika's spear rushes from the dust clouds as she thrust her weapon right into DIO's chest, directly into and through his heart right as Vergo's KI blast landed on the other side of his torso, causing the two attacks to both injure him as he screamed in pain.
"Damn it!" The vampire seethed as he was blown back from the attacks as Chika'a spear drew blood as the blast sent him tumbling into the distance.
Vergo took out his staff from the stairwell as he twirled it to clear the dust. He then saw that Chika's jaw was scratched and bleeding as she had an eye shut in pain as it slowly opened to a wince, a tear forming at the corner of it.
"Ow...!" She said as she used her spear as she supported herself.
"You got clackered with a nasty jaw punch. I'd refrain from touching it too much for now. Besides, we have bigger problems!" Vergo finished with high caution as the vampire rose from the ground.
"You managed to inflict pain on me, DIO? Inconceivable." The vampire was introduced to the duo as DIO said as he was standing with a hole through the left side of his chest, deep enough to see the other side of the room through it.
But the damage inflicted by the blast was negated by two ghostly dark hands as they were not visible to Chika, but a faint outline was visible to Vergo.
"He blocked it?!"
REGENERATE!
Vergo reeled in surprise as he and Chika then saw that the hole inside his heart closed up almost instantly.
"AND THAT'S NOT THE ONLY THING I AM CAPABLE OF!"
"WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
JET!
DIO yelled as his eyes shined bright red as the two realized what he was about to do.
A much larger pressurized beam of water, the size of DIO's head, escaped his eyes as it rushes towards the two.
BARRIER!
CLASH!
Vergo quickly used the air to guard against the beam as the green CPU Candidate used his aerokinesis to block the attack as DIO laughed at the struggling of the blonde.
"What's wrong? Does my gaze INTIMIDATE YOU?!"
JET!
DIO pressed as he widened his eyes, the beam becoming more powerful as Vergo started to buckle under the force of the vampire.
"Don't get cocky!"
PUSH!
WOOSH!
The CPU Candidate responded as he pushed the air barrier back towards DIO, covering its purpose from defensive to offensive as he thrusted his staff forward, pushing the barrier towards the vampire.
"Ho? Well then, by all means. Show me why!"
STAND BARRAGE!
"?!" The brother of Vert reeled as his attack was easily dispersed by the apparent black ghostly figure that appeared from nowhere.
The former blonde bloodsucker taunted as he used his Stand to barrage the barrier, dispersing it as The World's punches made easy work of the barrier as he ceased his Space Ripper Stingy Eyes.
And to make matters worse, the figure flew towards the CPU Candidate and winded back its fist as it readied a strong punch. It rushed towards the weaker target, being the woozy Chika as it constricted its eyes in anticipation.
"Resistance is futile! MUDA!" DIO roared as The World carried its fist forward.
Chika was unaware of the ghostly figure that was closing in to end her life, but she DID know that something was approaching her, from how Vergo was reacting from whatever he was looking at.
"What's going on... V-Vergo...?!" The greenette asked with concern to the CPU Candidate as he quickly repositioned his staff as he did something he thought he'd never do for Chika of all people.
JUMP...!
He jumped in the way, to protect someone he strongly disliked for so long.
By using the staff as an object to divert some of the force as he then used some wind as a cushion for the punch, akin to Nebula's gravity shield around his body as he waited for the attack.
He also made his staff glow a lime green, focusing KI into the weapon to use its spiritual properties to be able to interact, and hopefully block the ghostly opponent.
"Ver...-" Chika's voice slowed down as it seemed that time itself slowed for Vergo as he saw the moments before him play out.
...!
...!
...!
RUSH!-
The World's fist zoomed towards him, closing distance at a ridiculously quick pace, as he saw the distance between the fist and his bo-staff close almost instantly.
It's fist then did something that Vergo would never expect it to do mid-punch.
DODGE!
BLUR!
It redirected its trajectory, to miss his staff as its arm was under the glow of the staff as Vergo was unable to see anything other than an indistinguishable blur as he felt time almost grind to a halt at this point.
PRESS...!
CONTACT!-
And to make matters even worse for his situation, the fist seemingly bypassed his wind, EXACTLY like the shadows as he felt the fist press against his vest, the pressure slowly being applied onto his ribs.
And before he knew it-
TEAR!-
BOOM!
SHOCKWAVE!
CRACK!
GUST...!
"UGLRACK!" Vergo vomited blood as several of his right ribs were crushed under the tremendous force of The World's heavy punch, its augmented power far too much for his body to shrug off as he felt the full brunt of the spontaneous and explosive pain as its fist dug deeper into the side of his abdomen.
The fragments of his ribs were stabbed into his lungs as well, only causing more internal as the vampiric Stand pressed on as his vest was torn from the impact spot as the skin was immediately shredded from the sheer force of the monstrous strength of the stand, a prelude to the unnerving damage present within the CPU Candidate's body.
"Ver-!" The Oracle covered her mouth with her hand as she saw the painful scene take
THROW!
CRASH!
TUMBLE!
BOOM!...
The World sent the CPU Candidate away as it brought its body forward before shoving its fist forward, using it as a catapult as it sent Vergo tumbling up the stairs as he then slammed into the wall of the upper level of the room, covered by dust as the phantom menace returned to DIO's side.
"VERGO!" The Oracle yelled in concern as Chika scrambled to get to her feet as she looked forward.
WALK...
ゴゴゴゴ!
"He's coming..!" She whispered to herself. She couldn't let him reach Vergo, or he'd be killed, but she could barely move being near him. So she had to climb up the stairs before DIO reached if she wanted to help the downed ally.
But DIO had other plans.
BFFT!
"Freeze, bitch."
FREEZE!
"Wha-!" Chika couldn't perceive how he moved so fast, but the next thing she knew, she was encased in an ice trap.
The vampire placed his hand on the injured Oracle's shoulder, putting her out of commission as she was frozen up to her head as her body was immobilized.
"H-H-How did y-you do t-that!?" The Oracle shivered from fear and the cold as DIO looked back at her as he walked up the stairs.
"It's called being superior. You wouldn't know, living your life for someone else like a dilapidated dog." DIO stated as Chika growled at him, sounding more like a stuttering engine in winter due to cold and fear.
BFFT!
"And we have the golden boy. I wonder if you can survive with that injury..." DIO asked the blonde as he peered down through the dust, standing a ways back so that he couldn't try anything.
"You... Bloody bastard!..." Vergo wheezed as he coughed some more blood, ironically to his statement.
"Says the one who's bleeding." DIO pointed out.
"Don't think you've won... Just yet!..." Vergo continued as he outstretched his hand.
"I haven't? Explain who's lying on the ground with crushed ribs, punctured lungs, and without a weapon?" The vampire folded his arms as he laughed, entertained.
"You're wrong about one... Thing." Vergo spat as he felt for his staff, before sending it flying back from wherever it had rolled off at incredible speeds, rushing towards DIO.
WOOSH!
"And what might that be?" The augmented vampire raised a brow in interest.
ZOOM!
IMPALE!
"That I'm unarmed," Vergo smirked as he turned his palm to face him before clenching it, as the pole ran through DIO's back, bursting right through his sternum as the pole indented itself above Vergo as the vampire was impaled yet again.
"You fucking bastard!" DIO yelled Vergo laughed, as DIO tried to regenerate the hole within his body.
But to no avail.
"Why can't I regenerate?!" DIO demanded as he coughed out some blood of his own.
COUGH!
"The energy I used to enhance my staff proved to be effective against your clones, so I figured it would be effective against your ghost mate... But since he dodged it, that confirmed its effectiveness, since moving your fist mid-punch would decrease speed, and therefore power... So I figured that it was also effective against you, and my hypothesis was right...!" Vergo sniggered back as he coughed some more blood as DIO snarled.
"Argh!" The vampire gargled his blood as the wound did not close.
"MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDA, MUDAAAAAAAAAA!"
THROW!
So in turn, he used his pouch, and pulled out an obsidian knife, and threw it right at Vergo's neck.
GRAB!
CLANG!
BOUNCE!
STAB!
"AAAAAAARGH!" Vergo screamed in agony as he felt the knife dig into his muscles, the fear energy within the weapon burning within his wound like an inferno.
Vergo barely grabbed his staff and used it to deflect or even reflect the knife, but instead of moving it away from him, the knife bounced off the pole and stabbed him in his other shoulder.
"And you've been hit. The knife should keep you there long enough to finish your injuries. And just to be sure...!"
THROW!
PIERCE!!!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!" Vergo let out a blood-curdling scream as DIO laughed at his suffering.
DIO paused as he threw another knife straight into the shin of the CPU Candidate, the knife cutting straight through the leg as the ground cracked from the impact.
"It has been very entertaining, Vergo. But I have other matters to attend to within areas of this building. If you manage to survive, I'll finish you off myself. But I very much doubt that. Hmhmhmhahahahaha!"
SINK...!
The vampire laughed at the CPU Candidate's pitiful state as he sank to the floor.
"At least... I don't... Have... a hole in my neck like a lung cancer patient..." Vergo gargled.
"Ironic, since you seem like the one who's having trouble speaking, and breathing for that matter!" DIO cackled before he completely sunk into the shadows, disappearing once more.
BFFT!
But not before stealing the blonde's shades.
"These are mine now," DIO said in a matter-of-fact tone. Wearing them, he gave off the air of an early 20XX Thug Life meme format.
"Piss off, you plonker..." Vergo closed his eyes in annoyance and grief of lost glasses. His purple irises and power signal pulls were glaring right at him as the vampire disappeared.
...
The room became quiet once more as Vergo laid there, with two fear knives within his system, a shattered right abdomen, and lost his style.
CLANG!...
He then let the staff fall as it clattered as he breathed heavily, periodically coughing up some blood.
Chika was struggling to break free, but no matter how hard she tried, she was definitely stuck in an icy prison.
"Are you alright, Vergo?!" Chika yelled as she awaited a response.
...
...
"Do I SOUND OK... To you..." The CPU Candidate sarcastically asked after coughing a bit as Chika felt that her complaining had been flipped on her in some ironic twist.
"W-Well I'm stuck, so I can't really get you out of that bind." The Oracle responded as she was shivering from the cold temperatures that the ice reached, and was separated from her spear as she struggled.
"I... Thought as much... Just give me a minute... Or ten..." Vergo gargled as his pole faded from the KI surge, as he then went to pull out the fear knife stabbed into his shoulder.
CLUTCH!
"Hnng...!"
FEAR ENERGY!
Vergo tried to pull out the knife, braving the waves of fear he felt wash over him as he did.
PULL!
BLEED!
"HRAH!" Vergo shouted as he yanked the knife with all his power.
"FUCKIN' HELL!" The blonde god vehemently cursed as the pain spiked. The Oracle crimged from the coarse language as he screamed in painful anger.
TUMBLE!...
The knife was yanked out of his arm as it skidded across the elevated layer of the stairs before falling down the flight, echoing as the otherworldly metal made many clangs as it tumbled down.
"What was that?!" Chika yelped in fright.
"Me reflecting my life choices..." Vergo wheezed as he felt a facet of fear be alleviated from his body.
"H-How is that g-going to h-help us?!" The greenete barked.
"Has your dainty ass done anything of value without my help?!"
"I..." The Oracle paused.
"Your whining hasn't helped us up to now, so I can afford to complain since I actually did something... But there's no time." The CPU Candidate muttered as he then went to pull out the other knife.
Meanwhile, within the basement level of the Basilicom...
"The generators should be down here somewhere..." Gris muttered as he used his light to guide him and Underling as they maneuvered through the lower levels of the building.
"I can't believe I had to go in this stinkin' house for some ghost because you guys couldn't let me leave." The ASIC grunt complained as she held her pipe.
"I can just blow your brains out and go alone." The assassin responded as Underling reeled.
"W-What?!"
"You're not particularly strong, so a magazine should put you in the ground. And since I already carry animosity for you, I have no qualms in ending your pitiful and underachieving existence." The hitman explained as he gripped his gun.
"So you brought me here just to kill me?!" Underling said with some fear rising in her voice.
"If you piss me off. I'd watch what you say from now on. Your life is like putty in my hands. Or a simpler way of saying it would be that your life IS in my hands, since I know you're not too bright upstairs." Gris laughed as he looked around the room they were in.
It was a dark (No shit, Sherlock.) and cold area, with many metals and structural support such as support beams and pylons within as it held up the upper levels as some steel doors were situated by the walls.
There were many boxes and crates, which eluded that this may be a storage unit of sorts as well as where all the electronics were present.
The two had already checked some of the doors to see if they could find the generators, but they were met with pitch black. There was one more door that they were yet to check, which was to their right as the two continued to converse.
"Oh yeah? Well, even if you kill me, Lady Magic will wipe the floor with you bastards anyway!" Lisa rebutted as Gris raised a brow.
"CFW Magic, eh? Hmm... The woman that looks like a dominatrix. I'd be inclined to agree with you for once, Underling." The assassin stated as Underling's peeved expression faltered.
"Yeah!... Wait, you agree?" The ASIC grunt asked, perplexed.
"I said inclined, not that I admit. There's a broken light bulb where your brain is, isn't there?" The hired killer insulted as he walked around.
"Shaddap! All that matters is that when you guys get to the Gamindustri Graveyard, she'll make mincemeat out of all of you. The broads and you bastards!" Underling testified as she waved her pipe with fervor.
"And what makes you believe that?" The assassin asked mockingly as he searched around for anything that he may have missed the first two times he searched the room.
"She took down all four goddesses. AT THE SAME TIME! That's the pinnacle of badassery! I bet you dorks couldn't come close to something like that." Underling donned a smug look as she folded her arms.
'All the goddesses at the same time?... Even I have to admit, that's no small feat. But if that's the only thing she has to boast about... Maybe I can learn more if I continue to piss her off...' Gris plotted as he went to another corner of the room.
"Big whoop. She defeated all four CPUs. Did that and still hasn't converted everyone into worshipping ASIC. Doesn't seem that grand to me." The silver-eyed god shrugged, undermining the feat.
While it was true that the CPUs were strong, no doubt, even stronger than their male counterparts from what he could gather, they weren't all that in the assassin's eyes.
For starters, he, Nebula, Vergo, and even AL were faster, him, especially by far.
Secondly, they relied on faith, so if everyone decided to stop believing in them at one point, they'd succumb to an unfortunate fate such as death or sickness. Or be in such a sorry state that the worst could be enacted upon them by some random no-name.
And lastly, he was pretty sure they all just charged in there with no strategy or team synergy of any kind due to their relationships with one another and ended up being defeated by someone who was just too powerful to afford such slights.
Not that he could afford to speak on the topic, since his fights were usually alone, and still didn't feel as if he needed to develop the same kind of teamwork with the group he found himself in, it was still a viable option as a last resort.
"Well, she's also the leader of ASIC! And she's the strongest out of the Four Felons! Way cooler than any our your stupid CPUs that you worship." The ASIC member pointed with a superior air as she laughed.
"You think I worship the CPUs? You're making a lot of assumptions here." The silver-haired assassin rolled his eyes in amusement as Underling was confused once again.
"You... Don't worship the CPUs?" She asked.
"Worship is a strong word. I prefer 'aware of their existence. Worship implies I see my respective goddess as infallible and as a perfect being. And they got captured by ASIC, so that is a fucking lie." The hitman voiced his perspective as Underling questioned him further, her gaze turning into one of intrigue.
"Then why are you even with them?..." The grunt continued as her brows furrowed in suspicion.
"Because their and my interests align. ASIC is trying to take over, and if many contextual clues and implications are proven to be true, destroy the world. I'm pretty sure you're content with death after you fulfil your one purpose in life, that being the last mini-boss that we easily defeat and mercilessly slaughter, but what I need is vastly more important than a mook that gets done in by overestimation." Gris began, getting Underling to become angry woth him once more.
"I'm not a mook! And I have bigger goals than just working for ASIC!" Underling defied his statement.
"Which is?" The hitman raised a cocky brow, confident that she couldn't name anything.
"...Why should I tell you? We're gonna beat you guys into the dirt anyway, so I'd just be wasting my breath." Underling hesitated, before acting as if she withheld the information, causing the hired killer to burst out laughing.
"Ha! That's rich. You could have saved yourself by just saying you had no goals at all, but to think that you actually have a goal besides being a peon is hilarious! I'd expect you to die in a ditch before I thought for a second that you had any aspirations beyond a foot soldier or CFW Magic simp." The assassin rubbed it in Underling's face as anger bubbled within from the man's unexpectant attitude.
Gris knew that by poking at her, her anger would spill all her secrets for him. So he kept his snide demeanor to only further the likelihood that she'd spill the beans.
"Don't call me that; Lady Magic is the most badass boss I know! She's my inspiration and reason for living!" The ASIC grunt began.
"Magic? Really?" The assassin gave Underling a snide look once again.
"Hell yeah!" She's way cooler and stronger than any CPU, and she's gonna take over the world! If I could work under her faction in a high position, that'd be a dream come true!" The green-haired girl fantasized as the man simply adjusted his hat.
"Even your dreams are to work under someone else. And you insist to be called something other than Underling, when to your idol, even in your dreams, that's what you'll always be. Hell, I'm pretty sure she doesn't even know your name." Gris walked to the one door they hadn't checked, as he waited for her response.
"Does too!"
"You poor fool." The assassin put his hand on the door handle. "You're a tool and in denial. I guess Mina was right, after all." The assassin muttered the last part to himself before twisting the handle and opening the door, the weight of the door causing it to open slowly.
OPEN...!
"A tool!? That's a bunch of bull crap! I'm a valued member of ASIC! If I'm a tool, then what are you?!" Underling growled.
"A professional." Was the brazen answer.
"So?" The ASIC grunt dismissed the classification.
"So that means I don't get beat by a transforming baby, a snob, a ditzy nurse, and a heroic lunatic, plus some transforming bastards." He grinned as Underling snarled.
"Oh, shut it!" The ASIC grunt fumed as she entered after him.
As the two entered the room, they saw the room of smashed generators, that were totaled beyond mortal repair, laid around the area.
The metallic debris and snapped and shredded wires were everywhere as even the walls of the room itself were full of massive fist-shaped craters.
LEVITATE!...
Gris let his Toki orb levitate above the place, acting as a light source as he let it fly up.
"Those are...!" Underling looked in surprise as she saw the busted power generators.
"Yep. The generators. Whatever destroyed them went overboard, from what I can see." Gris said as he noticed the fist-shaped indentations, paired with spider cracks as he looked around the room.
"But what could do that much damage here?..." Underling subconsciously gripped her pipe a bit tighter as she looked around.
As they were occupying the room. The shadow that was present had sunk back into the ground, its face scowling as the light source was limiting its manifestation.
It patiently waited as it monitored the movements of the two, waiting for the perfect time to strike.
"If we linger here, we won't find the answers we need. I should fix up the generators, though."
SHIFT!
AURA!
POKE...!
GLOW!
Gris decided as he would move the light towards the generators as he shifted its position, making only his half of the room covered in light.
He then placed his fingertip on a broken debris fragment as he glowed his aura. He used his ability as the fragments began to revert to their original state as an auxiliary power generator.
REBUILD!
Underling watched in marvel and surprise as she saw the generator slowly build itself back together as it returned to its original position.
Each component pieced itself back together in the opposite order in which it was destroyed, the innermost working out to the hull of the machinery. In seconds, it already started to resemble its former glory.
POSE!
ゴゴゴゴ...
What the two didn't notice, however, was the shadow moving to the darker side of the room, regaining its mass as it rose from the ground over Underling before raising its arms and making itself look very intimidating as it got ready to strike.
GRAB!
CONSTRICT!
SINK!
The shadow quickly covered Underling's mouth as she reacted, only to use its other arm to constrict her with its supernatural strength before sinking back down with her person in one fell swoop of stealth.
"..." Gris finished reverting the auxiliary generator to its previous state as he talked to himself unbeknownst to the silver-haired assassin.
"You're awfully quiet, Underling." The hitman said as he turned around.
He was off-put when he saw that the ASIC grunt had seemingly disappeared from the room.
He then tried to sense her with his energy sensory capabilities.
COCK!
ABSORB!
SHINE!
But after sensing the room, and the entire floor, he didn't sense her energy at all, sans the traces that were left right in front of him.
"Where did that green-haired gnat run off to...?" The hired killer grumbled as he cocked his gun once more before making the orb of Toki return to him, his person becoming the central light source.
Gris soon returned to the central room of the basement level as he looked around, His hands on his weapon as he looked around. He still couldn't sense her, besides from the residual energy that she had been around here with him, meaning that she did not leave, as he would have sensed her energy going back up.
"She didn't leave... But she didn't go into another room. Something must have happened to her." The assassin deduced as he scanned the area, looking for her person.
As he did that, multiple shadows started to form around him, unbeknownst to the hitman as the vampiric manifestations of darkness amalgamated before him.
RISE!...
They popped up, one after another as they slowly rose from the ground, a few meters away due to the spiritual light keeping them at bay from the hired killer, as he looked around at the direction he was facing.
GLOW...!
ゴゴゴゴ!
A dozen shadowy figures were behind him as their eyes all glowed red, insinuating that they were charging up something as their eyes glowed brighter, prepping their Space Ripper Stingy Eyes.
Gris froze in his tracks as he was struck with a vision of precognition, which only activated when he found himself in a situation that endangered his life.
He saw that his head eas immediately blasted to a bloody mess by 24 pressurized jets of water, by the shadows that were apparently behind him the entire time.
He saw the pathway that the jets took as time slowed down for him.
...DUCK!
JET!
CRASH!
RUMBLE...!
"...!" The hitman reacted as he foresaw his death. He then gripped his pistol before dropping right as his perception of linear time began to resume to its original pace as the jets fired.
The jets of water missed the assassin as he swiveled around to face the multitude of shadows. The laser-like beams crashed into an adjacent wall, causing the room to from the combined force of the lasers.
GLOW!
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
DISPERSE!
Gris wasted no time as he quickly fired at the heads of the shadows, shooting the heads of the shadows as his gun rang out, the heads being exploded from the sheer speed of the bullets once enhanced by his aura.
RELOAD!
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The shadows were down disabled as Gris's bullets returned to his magazine as he fired some more to finished the job.
REGENERATE!
JET!
The shadows were further damaged, but problems became apparent when their heads quickly regenerated, their eyes immediately firing another set of Space Ripper Stingy Eyes at the silver eyed fighter who was caught off guard by the sudden healing factor.
LEAP!
DODGE!
CRASH!
RUMBLE...!
"!" Gris' eyes widened as he quickly leapt to the side, yet close to the ground as he fired more shots at their eyes, dodging the shots as another section of the room was damaged, more rumbling ensuing.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
COVER!
The grey-eyed hitman fired some more shots as he disabled the shadows again before hiding behind some crates.
The ammo returned to his gun as he shielded behind the crates, hiding his body behind the mass of crates as he took in the situation.
'Those shadows must have took Linda. If she's dead, that's no matter to me, but the others would probably... They probably wouldn't mind either. But they do want her arrested... Fuck.'
LUNGE!
JET!
BOOM!
The assassin snorted before receiving another vision of him being shredded by the pressurized jets and jumped towards another group of crates.
'But onto more pressing matters...! They seem to be unaffected by my bullets. Looks like the gun isn't going to solve this problem. The same should go for my fists, so Hokuto no Shinken is out of the question..!-' Gris continued the deduction of his predicament as he put back his gun in his pants as he hid from the opponents' line of sight once more.
COVER!
Gris stayed deathly quiet before counting the seconds.
'1... 2... 3... 4-'
MOVE!
JET!
BOOM!
He started to count, before being cut off by a vision of foresight.
He didn't even wait to see what the consequence of staying would be as he immediately moved from the temptation shield as he noted the time it too for the shadows to attack.
'Four seconds. They take four seconds to locate and attack me once I drop from their line of sight. But since they're shadows, does that mean any dark area is where they can see me from? That must be how they're tracking me...!' The assassin deduced as he hid behind another crate.
COVER!
'But they'll definitely know my position if I create another light source. Not to mention I'm fucking glowing. Glowing... That's it!'
CLENCH!
STATIC!
Gris wondered as he clenched his hand, static forming around it.
POINT!
"Flash!"
BOOM!
DISCHARGE!
The hitman quickly moved away from his cover, stretching out his index and middle fingers as he yelled out his SP Skill, blasting a shadow right in the chest.
This resulted in the clone exploding as it sank back into the darkness, decommissioned from the altercation as its remains were gone.
STRETCH!
'I knew it! Light does affect them! If that's the case then-' The assassin was cut off as the 11 remaining clones switched up their tactic as they then used their arms to attack.
"What?!"
SHADOW PUNCH!
CRASH!
RETRACT!
Gris reeled as he slid from the cover he was nearby as an arm obliterated the crates he once stood behind.
The arms gave rapid chase to the assassin as they weaved around the destroyed debris and crates as they homed on the hitman's presence as Gris had to now dodge their persistent attacks.
JUMP!
SHADOW KICK!
LAND!
He jumped from his sliding position as a shadowy leg almost nicked him as landed on the side of a wall.
LEAP!
GRAB!
Only to spring from the wall as two arms tried to grab him as the silver-eyed fighter moved positions once again.
ZIG!
ZAG!
SIDESTEP!
DODGE!
WEAVE!
TWIRL!
Gris looked behind him as he saw a group of hands rush after him as he landed on the other wall before he ran across it, the arms giving chase as he zig-zagged as they tried to rush a grab, only to miss as the hitman sidestepped and twirled out of the way, evading the appendages.
TWIST!
"Pulsar Grenade!"
BOOM!
SPARK!
EXPLOSION!
Gris then created a flash of static energy within his hand, before throwing it at the hands, using another SP Skill as he attempted to get the hands off of him.
GLOW!
JET!
The hands were immediately destroyed as he turned back around, only to see that a few shadows had repositioned themselves to be right in front of him as their eyes glowed red signifying another barrage of beams, before firing.
BLOCK!
PIERCE!
BLEED!
"Shit!" Gris cursed before he blocked the beams, the piercing nature of the attacks going right through his forearms as he was too startled to dodge.
CRASH!
"Argh!" Gris seethed before he tumbled off of the wall, slipping up from the pain as he landed into some metal crates, causing them to be dented from the force he landed onto them with.

The shadows heard the noise that was made before immediately attacking the source of the noise, being Gris as he was pummeled by a battalion of arms and legs, dragging him further into the pile of dented crates as their strikes were relentless.
Gris' body was flailing from the punches as he was gridlocked into a ganging up of shadows.
He frantically strategized as he was being beaten senselessly.
'They're attracted to sound as well?! OW! FUCK! I have to divert their attention!' He planned as he looked towards the room with the generator he fixed. It was in perfect condition.
Gris felt bad for destroying something he just fixed, but he was in a bind, and that generator had to go if he wanted to win.
So within the sea of the slugfest of darkness, the assassin pulled out his gun and shot twice right into the room, through the door, and into the generator itself as it exploded, shaking the room a once more as the bullets hit its target.

EQUIP!
BANG! BANG!
EXPLOSION!
CEASE!
The shadows ceased their actions as they saw the explosion take place. The light from the explosion made them weaken as they shrunk from the light. That moment of a pause gave Gris the moment he needed to get out of the tight spot he was in.
He charged two sparks in his hands before turning around towards the shadows themselves, which were focused on the explosion itself as they hissed in discomfort.
"PULSAR GRENADE!"
BOOM!
SPARK!
ELECTRIC EXPLOSION!
The assassin then fired the sparks towards the group of shadows as his face hardened in determination for victory as he yelled out the attacks, blindsided the shadows in a tactical turnabout.
DISPERSE!...
The shadows snapped out of their reactionary stupor only to be instantly blown up by the attack as they hissed vehemently, meeting their demise at the hands of the battle-hardened hitman.
"They were doomed from the start. That could be said without a shadow of a doubt."
GLOW!
HEAL!
Gris quipped, before closing his eyes and healing his injuries at the cost of some of his stamina.
''The only thing that confused me was how they could have hit me while I was glowing. The darkness must have given them enough power to bypass my light. I have to fix those generators!" Gris said as he got up out of the metal crates, and walked back into the generator room.
As he walked, he dimmed his aura a bit as he was fully healed.
SPROUT!
He would've begun to work on the generators uninterrupted if a hand hadn't shot up out of the ground.
Gris nearly shot the hand out of instinct but upon closer inspection, he realized it was the hand of a certain ASIC punk girl.
SHINE!
GRAB!
YANK!
He coated his hand in energy as he grabbed the hand, in case it was a trick devised by the shadows.
Underling was released from her shadowy prison as she inhaled and exhaled rapidly, her breathing hitched as she was in a cold sweat.
Her eyes darted around in fear as she bombarded the assassin with questions.
"Where am I? Who are you? What am I doing here? Did I get that promotion from Magic yet? Are the weird tentacles gone? I wanna go back to the Gamindustri Graveyard with mommy Magic-"
SLAP!
Gris backhanded the grey-skinned girl as she was cut short from her shaken-up tangent driven by delirious fear as she snapped back to reality.
"Ow! What was that for, damn bastard!" The greenette punk girl growled.
"Get your shit together, bitch. You sprouted nonsense about mommy Magic, and tentacle porn after being freed from some shadow entities' prison." The hitman explained as Underling blushed from the subjects she talked about while in a dramatic stupor.
"W-What?! Shut up! And I almost got violated under there! That was not pleasant!" Underling shivered. "And I did not say anything about CFW Magic!" She continued.
"The worst lies are the ones you tell yourself,"
GENERATE!
LIGHT!
LIGHT!
LIGHT!
LIGHT!
Gris responded as he set up some orbs of Toki around the room, making it comfortably lit as he moved to the busted generators.
"I ain't gonna take your word for it. You don't even like me." The hooded grunt didn't accept his explanation.
"I don't even have to lie to you to get under your skin, let alone make you look bad like you think I'm trying to do. The worst thing I can say to you is the truth." Gris stated as Underling bared her teeth as she showed an irritated expression toward the assassin.
"Because you know better than everyone that you suck and nobody actually likes you beyond annoying mini-boss or ASIC peon."
CROUCH!
TOUCH!
GLOW!...
The hired killer sniggered as he crouched and started to restore the generators.
"Oh, shut the hell up. Plenty of people like and respect me for who I am!" She declared. An eye-roll from the edgy assassin was his natural response.
"Who does like you.'' The assassin snorted.
"Magic does!" She started.
"She sees you as a tool." Gris immediately shut that one down.
"The rat does!" Underling stated.
"He only tolerates you because you guys are at the same level of shit job efficiency and would be bullied into non-existence by any competent member of ASIC." The hitman denied it.
"The broads respect me as a villain!" Underling desperately tried to find someone who didn't think she was just expendable or annoying.
"They literally insult you every time you see them. And you ran away from me the last time I saw you. Villain? More like villame'- I'm starting to sound like that blue bastard, for fuck sake." The hitman shook his head.
"...My parents do." She murmured.
"You look like you bark at your mom for saying it's a phase and yelled at them that you'd never come back as you blasted Bring Me To Life in your portable MP3 player as you stormed down the street into the nearest ASIC recruitment center." Gris thought up as she looked down.
If only he knew how close to the nail he actually was with that jab.
"...No one? Not one person likes you? Not even a sibling or a family member? An online friend on Nepbook or Yourspace? You are just the personification of a broken condom? They didn't put you up for adoption because they knew nobody wanted you and just kept you in the basement? Yikes, Linda." The assassin called the villain by her name for the first time as silence ensued.
FIX!
The auxiliary power generator that he shot was finally restored to its former... Former, glory as the assassin realized.
"That's one out of... Many." The silver-haired man noted as he looked around. He stopped looking however when he saw the face of Underling.
'No fucking way.' The hitman slightly went agape at the sight he was met with.
Underling was fuming, of course, but she also had some tears at the corners of her eyes. Gris had managed to bring the girl to tears from words alone. She looked down as she held her pole like it was her coping mechanism.
'As much as I want to poke fun at her right now... I'll just focus on the generators since a quick joke isn't worth another ambush. That hot mess is not something I'm qualified to deal with.' Gris started to regret mentally tormenting his partner as he'd probably have to deal with her whining at that point.
"I miss my mom..." Underling sniffled.
'Oh fuck. She does have mommy issues. No wonder she said Mommy Magic.' Gris sighed as he started on the next generator.
BFFT!
But as he got started on the next generator, a sound effect of distortion was heard behind the two.
The assassin snapped his head around as Underling jumped from the loud sound effect.
The two directed their startled gaze to the new figure in the room, being the aforementioned tall vampire known as DIO, unbeknownst to the pair. He had his arms folded as he stood there.
"So someone already found the generators. And lo and behold, it seems to be one of my targets." DIO hummed as he looked at Gris dead in the eyes.
"And who the hell are you," Gris growled as he held his gun from within his pocket.
"He just appeared out of nowhere!" Underling reverted to her old self after the vampire revealed himself, sealing her moment of weakness. She quickly wiped her face as she sniffled one final time.
SNIFF!...
"I am DIO! And this is the place that shall be your graves!"
LUNGE!
AURA!
DUCK!
SWIPE!
The vampire shouted as he lunged at the hitman, who had to leave his gun in his pocket as he flared his aura before dodging the swipe DIO made for his head.
PUNCH!
DIO's snarl from missing the attack turned into a smirk as he looked forward before reeling again before he punched the auxiliary power generator, destroying it as he laughed.
"And who told you to fix the generator!" DIO cackled as he bore a hole through the power source.
"I JUST fixed that you fucking bitch-"
EXPLOSION!
Gris was cut off as it immediately exploded.
The resounding explosion engulfed all three in the room as the light grew bright to the point that it made it impossible to tell what happened for Linda and Gris.
BRIGHTEN!
RUMBLE!...
Nebula and Taleia were now in the courtyard of the Basilicom. The two had split up to scan the perimeter and came back up empty-handed.
The blue-haired adventurer scratched the back of his head as he looked around, slightly miffed that they weren't able to find anything of suspicion up to that point.
"We still haven't found anything after searching for half an hour." Nebula relayed to his partner.
"Even though I still have hope that we'll bump into something that'll help us uncover this mess, I do find it odd that we've uncovered absolutely nothing." The half-elf cupped her chin.
"I wonder how the others are doing." Nebula put his hand back down as he looked back towards the building. The fear energy from the building itself made it impossible for him to detect anything distinguishable, besides the overpowering energy of the coated infrastructure itself.
"You can't sense them?" Taleia asked.
"The house is blocking my sensing capabilities." Nebula explained as he put his hands in his pockets.
"That's unfortunate. Should we head back?" Taleia offered the adventurer.
"I think so." Nebula decided as they looked around.
The courtyard was barren and empty, with the lack of staff and guards as they were all collected on the outside of the building, rather than within the premises.
They were currently by the gardens, woth many different flowers and shrubbery, including one life-sized one of Green Heart and Vert in all of their glory as they posed, holding the Lean Box together.
There were also water fountains and the mystical grass that was greener on the other side.
Too bad it was night though, so they couldn't tell.
They made their way to the mansion like Basilicom, walking as they did.
"So, you still haven't told me any of the girls you've dated after me." Taleia brought up.
"..." Nebula kept quiet.
"Well?" The RRoD member raised a brow.
"Well, I haven't really focused on romance all that much." Nebula admitted.
"You haven't?" Taleia raised her brows in intrigue.
"Yeah, I haven't. After I left I just... Forgot about trying to find someone else. I was satisfied with adventuring, so I didn't really search for another woman to be with." The man explained as he looked at her, gesturing with his hand.
"Oh. Well I've had some luck with dating." Taleia said as she looked ahead, breaking eye contact with Nebula.
"How's that going for ya?" Nebula slightly smirked while raising a brow.
"... It's complicated." She anwsered, a comical sweat drop on her head.
"Oh boy." Nebula chuckled.
"There's a lot to uncover, and a lot of failed relationships, I got left for a hooker, walked in on one of my partner's and a body pillow of Lady White Heart, yeah... It's long, embarrassing, and pretty hilarious now that I think about it." She started to blush, remember her romances.
"That description fits for something else, y'know." A suggestive look was washed upon his face as he chortled about the summary she gave him.
"Something else...? Your dic- Nebula, ya big perv!" She slapped his shoulder as he sniggered, a trollish look being etched on his face.
"You call me a pervert, but I distinctly remember you riding me, drooling and screaming to the heavens as your eyes rolled to the back of your head from pure lust, Tals-"
"Sh-Shut up!" She put her finger on his mouth as his lips were curled into a highly amused smirk, the adventurer rolling his eyes as he looked at the blushing soldier.
"Alright, alright. But you have to tell me about the body pillow walk in, in exchange, though. That must have been one hell of an explanation when you realized your partner was into flat girls." He circled bskc to the dakimakura incident.
"Ugh. Fine. He even did it so much it stood on its own!" Taleia emoted as she gestured a standing body pillow.
"No. Way." The god shook his head.
"Yes! And it smelled awful too!" Taleia waved her hand in front of her face, fanning a non-existent scent, exasperated.
"Did he have a cutout too?" The man held back a laugh.
"12 of them were around his room, like he had a shrine. Not a regular fanatic shrine, but like they all smelt like he-"
"And I've heard enough. Even I can stop somewhere, and that is the place." Nebula shook his head as he started to grimace.
"Now you know a bit of how bad it was. I just hope this Basilicom business blows over so that we can get ASIC out of the way, and I can go back to being single in peace, and not some chaotic state of emergency." She sighed.
RUMBLE...!
Then the basement explosion was felt.
BRISK WALK!
SPEED WALK!
"You're right. But I hope everyone in there's doing alright, I don't think that explosion was from anything ordinary. Let's hurry up." The adventurer decided as he quickened the pace, Taleia sped up to keep up with the god.
But as they walked back from the garden, the overarching darkness from the lack of artificial lights made it too easy for shadows to form under the moonlight in abundance.
SCRAMBLE!
SPRINT!
Which was what began to occur as a terrifying mass if shadows formed around them, as dozens and dozens of shadows began to manifest around them as they briskly walked, their pace increasing to a sprint as they ran as fast as they could after feeling as if many eyes were watching them.
"Why are we running?!" Taleia asked the adventurer.
"We got eyes on us!" Nebula quickly responded as they ran towards the door that they came from.
"What eyes?"
ドドドドドドドドドドドドドドドドドドド!
ゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴ!
POSE...!
GLOW!
Taleia asked as she looked around, only to see countless glowing red pupils, all glowing as more shot up from the ground, soon forming lines of shadows with menacing poses as they all stared automated at the duo.
"Those eyes!" Nebula pointed out as he headed towards the entry point.
POP UP!
GLOW!
SKID!
Unfortunately, said entrance was barred by a barricade of shadows as they materialized, their eyes with maddened glee as their pupils glowed. Nebula and Taleia stopped, before changing their direction as they backtracked as fast as they could.
UNSHEATH!
SLASH!
WATER ARC!
SLASH!
GRAB!
LAUNCH!
"Crapbaskets!" Nebula faltered as he kicked up some dirt, Taleia unsheathing her sword and slashing at the shadows, an arc of water escaping the sword as she used the momentum to launch herself back, before grabbing the back of Nebula's vest as they gained some distance.
REGENERATE!
Taleia saw that the arc did nothing to the shadows, as they were sliced, only to regenerate as they were completely unaffected.
MASS MANIFEST!
"My slash didn't work?!'' Taleia widened her eyes as she turned around, seeing that their other route was slowly being closed up as more and more shadowy figures blocked their other exit path from being surrounded.
"We're not gonna make it!" Nebula said as he saw the eyes around them started to glow, signifying something bad was coming up.
"We have to try!"
LAND!-
STEP!
DEPRESS!
DASH!-
BLUR!
The RRoD soldier pressed on as she landed on the ground before pressing her foot into the ground with such force that she cracked it, making her burst forward with speed that made her and Nebula turn into blurs as they beelined to the opening.
Taleia gripped her sword in one hand and the god's vest in the other as she neared the opening.
RISE!
But just as she reached the golden opportunity that was the gap, it was covered for by two more shadows, as they mockingly looked at the two as Taleia slashed at them again, but this time, they fired their water attacks, the Space Ripper Stingy Eyes at her as the attacks canceled out.
"!"
SLASH!
The two reacted as the shadows appeared. Taleia slashed from reflex, trying to gain distance from momentum once more.
JET!
BOOM!
But she was contested this time around.
"Woah!" The blue haired adventurer yelled.
"Ack!" The swordswoman soldier screamed.
The aquatic clash sent the two tumbling though the air, before they landed and skidded towards the center of the garden once more, as they scrambled to get back up.
TUMBLE!
CRASH!
SKID!
"Goddessdamnit! They cornered us!" Taleia stated the blatantly obvious, as hundreds of shadows were glowing brightly, as they were prepping for something big for a while now, which meant they didn't have much time left.
"Have you noticed that they've been looking like they're about to do something with their eyes?" Nebula asked the soldier as she looked around.
"They fired those jets of water at me, which means...!"
MANIACAL LAUGHTER!
GROUP JET!
It clicked for the agent as she then quickly did a side-to-side look with her head as she saw all the bright glowing eyes, their faces turning into maniacal laughter as they all cackled with malevolent fervor.
"JUMP!"
LEAP!
BOOM!
BIG EXPLOSION!
The both of them yelled as they shot up into the sky, the hundreds of lasers focusing all into one point, as they successfully managed to evade the synchronized attack.
And due to the concentrated amount of energy, the resulting explosion rocked the entire Basilicom compound, powerful enough to cause a mini earthquake as the garden was now in flames, the resounding shockwave only spreading the flames as the pair were blasted further up from the explosion...
And this came from a water attack. How the fu-
EARTHQUAKE!
SHOCKWAVE!
"Wah!"
SMOKE!
FLAMES!
The two team members yelled as they had to block the incoming shockwave as they were blasted further up into the night sky, smoke from the smoldering grass covering their last position on the ground.
"They did that from tear lasers?! Holy shit!" Nebula exclaimed as he ceased his blocking.
"I don't think that's the only thing they can do!"
JETS!
DEFLECT!
DEFLECT!
DEFLECT!
Taleia noticed as she then had to block multiple pressurized water lasers as they pierced through the smoke, her katana deflecting the attacks.
JETS!
DODGE!
WEAVE!
TWIST!
Nebula weaved and maneuvered around the lasers as more shot through the smoke, trying to blast them out of the sky.
JETS!
DEFLECT!
DEFLECT!
DEFLECT!
DEFLECT!-
PIERCE!
The jets became much more rapid and numerous as they dealt with the existing ones as they were soon starting to get overwhelmed.
"Hnng!" The soldier winced as she was struck in the side, holding back some blood from her mouth as a result.
"Tal-"
SMACK!
PART!
CRASH!
Nebula was cut off as he smacked a laser back down at the smoke cloud, revealing an army of shadows firing at them as Taleia began to fall from lack of any opposite force, such as the jets keeping her at her altitude.
FALL!
"They've clusterfucked!" Nebula took in as he looked back to Taleia, who started to descend.
JETS!
REPULSE!
"Tals!" The adventurer yelled as he was shot right in the face after saying her name, but was unaffected thanks to his gravity barrier.
ZOOM!
JETS!
DODGE!
JETS!
MANEUVER!
JETS!
TURN!
"Piss off!" The god yelled down as the shadows laughed at his outburst. He zoomed down, using the gravity to control his descent as he dodged many of the beams as be approached the falling Taleia ad she held her side, wincing.
Taleia was nearing the ground, as she held her side in pain, the soldier looking down towards the approaching mass of shadows as they fired at her.
FALL!
JETS!
REFLECT!
DISPERSE!
REFLECT!
REFLECT!
DISPERSE!
DISPERSE!
She was still up to that point, deflecting shots as she used her sword to block, trying to hit the beams back at the shadowy enemies.
REGENERATE!
The jets pierced back into the shadows, destroying them partially through their speed, but the owners of the attacks would just shrug off the attack, revealing that they were immune to their own attacks.
"That's not good!"
SLASH!
WATER ARC!
JETS!
CLASH!-
BOOM!
CRASH!
She yelled as Taleia then slashed towards the ground once more, the arc of water making a comeback as over 10 Space Ripper Stingy Eyes fired at her, running into the arc as it overpowered the attack before exploding once more, sending the agent flying and crashing into Nebula.
"Got'cha!" Nebula grabbed the soldier before he flew further up, as the laser-like attacks followed them as he evaded and dodged, the countless attacks that aimed to doot him out of the sky.
JET!
DODGE!
JET!
MANEUVER!
JET!
BARREL ROLL!
JET!
VANISH!
REAPPEAR!
JET!
PHASE!
REAPPEAR!
JET!
The shadows fired in such a way that as soon as one attack was fired, another immediately followed so that there was not a single moment that the sky was completely clear as an army of pressurized water jets were ascending at hypersonic speeds.
HIDE!
JETS!
The pair flew higher and higher up, the lasers bouncing off of Nebula's Baro Barrier, until they found cover behind an cumulus cloud, as they floated silently as the lasers ceased.
The pair remained quiet as they didn't want to attract their attention though any type of sound.
So Nebula decided to use a technique Mr. Mūten taught him and AL to communicate without the use of their voices. But rather...
'Hey, Taleia.' Nebula contacted through the power of telepathy.
'Nebula? Oh right, telepathy. Been a while since you've used this.' The soldier remembered when he showed her the technique as kids.
'Right. We managed to get them to stop attacking us.' The CPU noted. 'But we still dont know how to defeat them.' He continued.
'And they aren't affected by my sword or their attacks.' Taleia responded, through the established link Nebula made with her. 'So how can we defeat them?' She pondered.
'Good question. They're shadows, so I doubt anything physical is gonna hurt them. But how about something light-based?' Nebula thought as he went onto his arsenal of KI.
'And since they're shadows, wouldn't something spiritual also be effective against them?' Taleia asked with a smirk and she winced from her injuries before holding them, her face returning to its serious demeanor.
'Most likely. I just have to find somewhere to put you down before I airstrike the lot of them...' Nebula thought as Taleia gave him a determined look.
'Put me down by the top of the Basilicom. I can manage over there.' The RRoD soldier directed as she held her wound before letting go of it, blood on her palm.
'Sure. Just let me give you some of my energy first.'
TRANSFER!
Nebula thought as he transferred some of his energy to the blackette.
Taleia felt some of her vitality return to her, but she still retained her injuries as her eyes opened wider with energy.
PHASE!
REAPPEAR!
DROP OFF!
LAND!
Nebula phased from the cloud and landed on the roof of the Basilicom before he dropped off the soldier.
"Thanks, Nebby... What is that...?! " The RRoD member pointed, spooked as she quickly grabbed her sword.
Nebula turned around before his eyes widened as he saw something disturbingly dangerous become apparent to the two of them.
The shadows were beginning to merge, as they combined their mass, joining by the hundreds as one large shadow was being formed as a result, spiking up as ripples were convulsing on the shape of the spike.
COMBINE!
COMBINE!
COMBINE!
CONVULSE!
ABSORB!
FEAR AURA!
GROW!
It seemed as if the darkness of the shadows blocked by the moonlight itself as they were being pulled into the mass of darkness as every last shadow was absorbed into the pile of black essence.
The shadows were engulfed in black energy as they were reaching the climax of the installation. Their combination of mass formed a nightmarish amalgamation of shadowy vampires, that formed into a fifty foot tall shadow, that towered over even the Basilicom as its body was committed into the ground which the shadows covered. It let out a loud and shrill cry, that shook the ground before focusing its sights on the blue god.
"WwRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrRrYyYy!"
TREMOR!
The shadow cried, a disembodied voice escaping its jaws as the ground shook.
GLOW!
Its red eyes then focused on Nebula as Taleia hid behind an opportune roof area of the Basilicom top floor.
"First the Dogoos, now this... Ah shit, here we go again."
REEL!
GIANT SHADOW PUNCH!
ZOOM!
The meme lord cracked his knuckles before he saw the giant shadow reel its hand before rocketing it towards Nebula, its house-sized fist rushing towards the adventurer.
REPULSION!-
CLASH!
SHOCKWAVE!
CRACK!
SLIDE...!
Nebula stuck out his hands as he tried to use his repulsion to block the shadow with his Repulsion, but the shadow bypassed his ability and clashed with his arms as a shockwave ensued, the roofing that he stood upon cracking as he was pushed back.
"It wasn't affected?!" Nebula snapped in surprise before he looked down and saw that the building was damaged from the attack.
REEL!...
"You have to lead it away from the Basilicom! If that thing hits it enough, the entire building will collapse with everyone inside!" Taleia warned as the god silently nodded before he looked back and saw that the shadow went back for another attack.
SWING!
BOOM!
CRASH!
The male CPU wasted no time as he leaped from the building as he flew with the use of his barokinesis, the shadow swinging forward as his limb extended once more, hitting the ground as a large chunk of dirt was raised from the missed attack.
Nebula then fired multiple blasts at the shadow giant as he used one of his SP Skills as he flew, outstretched his hands as he fired.
"Rapid Rapture!"

Nebula roared as numerous blasts of KI escaped from his hands, racing towards the big black- Target.
WHIP!
WHIP!
WHIP!
WHIP!
WHIP!
WHIP!
The energy attacks hit their mark as the man rotationally flew around the shadow, as he had to maneuver around its attacks, as the dark giant then started to use its arms like a whip.
DAMAGE!
DAMAGE!
DAMAGE!
The shadow was taking damage, however, as chips of shadowy fragments were being forcefully ripped off of its massive body, the remains sinking back into the shadows as Nebula bombarded the large enemy with more and more blasts.
"WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
BEAM!
But after enough damage was taken, the giant shadow let out another shrill cry before its eyes glowed, its mouth frowning in rage.
Instead of the average small razor-sharp jet that flew out of a normal shadow's eyes, a large beam the size of a large building shot out of the giant's eyes, moving at insane speeds towards the god as he saw the beam of destruction approach him.
GUARD!
"Baro Barrier!"
REPULSION!
ENGULF!
Nebula knew he couldn't dodge something that was traveling hundreds of times the speed of sound as he was now, but because he could move at said speed in HDD, he quickly cross guarded as he used his Baro Barrier to its full potential as he used the active skill instead of its passive incarnation.
BLAST!
LAND!-
HUGE SPLASH!
Even the efforts of his shield weren't enough to completely negate the effects of the firepower of the hundred of shadows combined into one single concentrated beam. as the sheer power sent the combatant flying into the air as his body was flung with the jet as it soon landed into the ocean south of Leanbox, before it crashed into the ocean, a large splash of water formed as the attack crashed through the surface of the water.
"Nebula!" Taleia yelled in dismay as she saw her blue-headed friend seemingly defeated by the powerful eye blast of the shadow.
DEEP LAUGHTER!
Worse yet when it turned its sights towards her, giving an unnerving deep pitched laugh.
GRIP!
She scowled as she grabbed her katana once more, only to have her attention subverted once more as she looked beyond the shadowy giant, to see that a bright explosion also took place from underwater, causing a huge water splash to occur as it was visible from the Basilicom's rooftop.
"Why you...!"
UNDERWATER EXPLOSION!
ENORMOUS SPLASH!
WAVES!
She looked around the shadow as she saw the effect of the eye beams take place.
WAVES!
CRUMBLE!
SPLASH!
Meanwhile, waves formed by a explosion were enough to even affect their raft as it violently bobbed in the water, threatening to capsize it, not to mention that the waves crashed on the cliffs which caused some rocks to collapse was only some of the chains reactions caused by the underwater detonation.
SHEATH!...
GRIP!
Back to Taleia, she sheathed her other sword as she gripped the one she hadn't used the entire time.
"I don't like to use this blade, but I have no choice. And since its affinity matches this particular enemy, then maybe...!"
UNSHEATH...!
AURA...!
TIGHTEN!
HEIGHTEN!
She slowly unsheathed the dark katana, a black aura forming around her as her eyes became an amethyst purple.
Her wounds' sensation of pain was numbed as she felt the adrenaline rush from the sword's effect, heightening her senses.
SLASH!
ARC OF DARKNESS!
DEEP LAUGHTER!-
Taleia increased her hold on the sword as she quickly drew it as she stepped out in the open, the blade releasing a black arc of dark energy, towards the shadow giant as it continued to laugh.
CUT!
The shadow ceased its laughing as the arc made contact with it before its arm was completely chopped off from the attack, the swordswoman brandishing her sword as the black blade reflected the moonlight off of its deep purple blade, her hand holding its bright purple diamond patterned hilt.
SNARL!
REEL!
The shadow's expression became mortified, before morphing into one of fury as it swung back its other fist as it prepared to slam it into her.
STRETCH!
Taleia jumped into the air to direct the attack away from her boss' Basilicom, returning to the air as the giant vampire shadow snapped its head up as its eyes narrowed, before rushing its hand forward in an attempt to grab her.
SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE SLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICESLICE!
But the swordswoman just smirked, rather devilishly too, as she sliced away at the hand in quick succession, the parts that she chopped off being fading away as they were separated from its source as she disarmed the giant arm.
TWIRL!
SHADOW ARC!
WOOSH!
REEL!
The vampiric shadow retracted its arm as it saw that over half of it was completely destroyed from the attacks of the RRoD agent. Taleia then attempted to attack directly as she turned around slashed in the opposite direction she was originally facing before being propelled by her momentum as she got ready for a heavy strike.
SLASH-
SINK!
The shadow waited until Taleia approached it before sinking into the ground quickly as the swordswoman missed her slash
LAND!
SKID!
JUMP!
"What!" Taleia looked down as she missed the strike, to the place the shadow was last, before looking ahead and landing, skidding right in front of a large fire that she backed away from.
SPROUT!
GLOW!
She turned around as she saw the shadow sprout back up from the ground, it's eyes glowing once again as it got ready to fire its MASSIVE Space Ripper Stingy Eyes at the swordswoman once more.
WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
"Those eyes!" The blackette narrowed her eyes in focus as she gripped her blades as she breathed in, before yelling out an SP Skill of her reserved sword, as she thrusted the blade towards its head.
"WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!"
"Black Sabbath!"
BEAM!
LASER!
Taleia roared as a piercing dark energy with purple outlines escaped from the sword, right as the humongous beam of water escaped from the eyes of the shadow once more.
CLASH!
WITHER!
STRUGGLE!
The two attacks collided as the resulting clash produced a rippling of foul energy, that caused the plants in the garden to suffer, slowly withering as the two attacks contested in the air as the swordswoman tried not to be overpowered and obliterated by the beam.
WINDWAVE!
CRASH!
SLAM!
CHIP!
WOOSH!
Taleia pushed with all her might as the flames around them were blown back from the sheer wind pressure of their clash as the doors to the Basilicom in the garden were blasted open, with a bunch of furniture being flung and crashed into the ground. Fountains and shrubs were chipped and blown away respectively from the clash as the two competed.
STATIC!
ENGULF!
BRIGHTEN!
BOOM!
The clash soon became unstable once more due to being matched for a long period, as some static started to collect at the epicenter of the clash, soon creating a bright light that blinded both combatants as it engulfed the entire garden as a result, the static spreading with it.
Cue the explosion due to an imbalance of energy.
Meanwhile, in the ocean...
CRASH!
WAVES!
RIPPLE!
The waves were still wild and chaotic. The effects of the explosion had yet to subside.
SWIRL!
WHIRLPOOL!
CURRENTS!
But the chaos in the water was far from over as the waves started to circle and swirl around a specific area as the water parted from the center of the cause of the swirl.
PILLAR!
TRANSFORM!
PART!
"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Then from the water, a bright pillar of light shot up from the seafloor, with the water fully parting, as screaming could be heard below.
The voice of a specific meme lord CPU could be heard, his voice echoing across the ocean of Southern Gamindustri.
Rising from the seas, was a charging Brave Heart, as he roared to the heavens, his body enveloping a bright orange aura, his light spreading across the water for many meters, a twinkle that could see from kilometers away.
GRAVITY AURA!
His gravity rippled the space around him before he stopped his yelling.
He then narrowed his glowing power signal eyes before setting his sights on the large shadow that sent him there in the first place.
Seeing that it was clashing with Taleia, using her other sword as her energy felt noticeably different and more malevolent.
"That big black bastard's really starting to get on my nerves. And I'm also lucky no one is here to take what I said out of context."
BURST!
The god said as he coated his arm in KI.
PURIFY!
"If KI can affect it, then share energy can no doubt finish it. I just need to hit it with this." Brave Heart emphasized his fist, the KI then turning from orange to a more glowing and slightly lighter variant.
"My energy should be divine by proxy, but making a conscious effort to implement share energy... Let's do this."
SONICBOOM!!
WOOSH!
SPLASH!
Brave Heart constricted his pupils, before blasting off towards his target as the water parted from his speed, finally hitting Mach 1,000.
"Here goes! Stardust Shoryuken! " The blue-haired god roared as he reeled his glowing fist back, rushing towards his destination as fast as the plot allowed it.
A/N:
Heya there, reader!
If you're seeing this, this is a rewrite of the chapter, just to correct some repetition, fix some spelling errors, and improve the spelling quality, especially in the earlier chapters.
So remember, italics and bold is going for gold.
FINALLY! Fina-fucking,-lly! I'm done with this chapter!
Alright, so writing three fights, all happening around the same time, without getting the times mixed up, added with the fact that different things and events were happening, plus with each fight having their gimmick, AND the big bad of the arc intervening, AND making sure everyone (even Underling in a lore enlightening aspect) had a moment to shine, was god awful.
And I'd totally do it again, since I like doing this. I don't know if I'm just that demented, or that devoted to this story.
And now that DIO has gotten involved with the madness, things can only get more hectic as stakes are raised, and fights are heating up!
Not to mention what's happening OUTSIDE the Basilicom compound! Foreshadowing!~
But anyways, Tell me what you guys think. I'd REALLY appreciate if you left a review for me to implement some constructive criticism, or even just a compliment on the chapter. Anything that's not just a hate comment will do nicely.
But, that's it for now.
Arrivederci.
Read and Review, peeps!
