A week later, Arizona got on the elevator to head towards the attendings' lounge. On her way, Alex Karev, one of the residents who she thought could use a mentor and might really fit peds, got on with her.

"Hey," Arizona said. "What do we have?" she asked when he handed her a file.

"I've been working on the Davey kid," Alex said as he got to the elevator. He started to explain the case and Arizona nodded as he spoke. He was a lot smarter than he was given credit for.

Arizona looked over at him and saw the excitement of wanting to help the tiny humans in his eyes even if his face was neutral. "Let's go get him some new scans once I finish the meeting I have in twenty, and I'll take a look."

"Thanks, Robbins," Alex smiled. "When I work with most attendings, they just kind of tell me to shut up. You don't do that."

"Yeah, well, I'm awesome," Arizona smiled.

After getting off the elevator, she headed down and sat down next to Callie once she reached the lounge. Callie looked up from the chart in hand to smile and lean over to give her a quick hello kiss.

"Hey," Arizona said. "I'm telling my parents tonight about Sofia. I have a couple of photos of her, but I was hoping you could send me some of the older ones of her or you and her so I can show them?"

"Of course," Callie said. She pulled her phone out and clicked to her photo gallery. "Text yourself any of them you want."

"I'm not going to find any naked people in here, am I?" Arizona asked.

"No," Callie laughed. "I got rid of the ones Mark sent when he started seeing Lexie."

"Seriously?" Arizona made a face and tried not to gag. "I need to go through his phone somehow."

"I didn't say I sent anything back," Callie said as she patted Arizona's leg. "Mark is just a friend, Arizona. Yes, he's my best friend and Sofia's godfather, but he and I weren't a couple. We were just friends who had sex sometimes."

"That makes me feel much better." Arizona leaned her head against Callie's shoulder as she flipped back through the photos.

Callie turned her head, so she could say something that no one would hear if they walked in. She knew Arizona's hearing would pick it up. "No one has ever made me feel like you make me feel. From the night in the alley to you laying with me when I feed Sofia to how you kiss me. No one, Arizona. Does that make you feel better?"

Arizona closed her eyes as she breathed in to gather Callie's scent to sooth her. "It does. I'm sorry. His scent is at the apartment and sometimes it drives me crazy. I smell it on Sofia when I went to see her in daycare. And it's normal because he goes to see her too. He loves her too." She paused. "I told you we don't share well."

"You aren't sharing me with him," Callie said. "He's just my friend. You're my … whatever you want to be."

"It's too soon to be your girlfriend, isn't it?" Arizona asked.

"Because we've done so well with pacing ourselves so far?" Callie snorted.

"Girlfriend," Arizona said firmly. "It'll help talking to the Colonel and Mom too. Being able to say you're my girlfriend."

"Do you want me there when you talk to them?" Callie asked. "Do you want Sofia there?"

Arizona paused for a moment to think. "I have Skype set up at five since I'm off at four. You're on until nine though, right?"

"I can try to find some coverage," Callie offered.

"I think the first time it should be me. If they say something or if things get heated I don't want you to hear it." Arizona rested her hand on Callie's leg to soak in a bit of body heat. "But maybe I can pick Sofia up, take her back to your place and have her there? If they do want to see her, I can have her and if things get really bad I'll take her to Mark's."

Callie rested her hand over Arizona's. "You should bring some stuff over. You've spent every night this week. And Sofia sleeps better when you're there. I don't know what it is, but she really likes having both of us there."

"I may use just a tiny little bit of my vampire charm on her to make sure she sleeps," Arizona admitted shyly. "Not enough she can't wake up if she's hurt or hungry. Just enough that she doesn't have bad dreams."

"Really?" Callie said in surprise. "It doesn't have any long term effects, does it?"

"No. It just helps her sleep without any bad dreams," Arizona promised.

Callie's pager going off prevented more questions. She checked it and saw it was a 911 she couldn't put off.

"Take Sofia home tonight," she said as she took her apartment key off her keyring. "I'll see you when I get home." She bent down to kiss her before dashing off.

Arizona looked down at the key and smiled before she got up to go to her meeting.

A short time later, Arizona sat next to Alex as they waited for the CT to come up. Arizona noticed he was fidgeting and wondered what was going on with him.

"What's got you worked up?" Arizona finally asked.

"Can I see them?" Alex asked as he lifted his head while he and Arizona sat waiting for scans to render.

"The scans aren't done yet," Arizona gestured to the screens that were waiting to be filled.

"I meant…your fangs," Alex said in a gruff voice.

"You want to see my fangs?" Arizona asked. He had never made much comment on her being a vampire. Much less a request to do with it.

"One of the new interns is a vampire," Alex explained. "I mean I'm cool with it, but I know jack about it. You're the only one I interact with much."

Arizona looked at the hallway and saw that it was empty at the moment. "Fine," she agreed. "But this isn't an offer to see them whenever you want. You can ask me questions as a general thing, but try not to make them overly personal."

"Right," Alex said with a nod.

Arizona sat forward before she allowed her fangs to drop and opened her mouth so he could see them. She closed her mouth and pulled her fangs back before sitting back in her chair.

"They are bigger than I expected." Alex's eyes were still on Arizona's mouth as he spoke before he sat back. "So, what do I do to make Wilson more comfortable?"

Arizona tilted her head as she thought about the question. "Just treat her like she isn't going to bite anyone at any moment. If she works here, she either is on a monitored program or she's been cleared not to be. If she asks to step out, let her. Don't make a big deal about it. Learning how to deal with the amount of blood in an OR can take time."

Alex nodded at the advice. "I forget about you most of the time. I mean you're normal or whatever. But she takes the long way around because she avoids the windows at the front of the hospital. And the other interns kind of avoid her sometimes."

"It's difficult," Arizona admitted. "It's difficult coming to a new place and figuring out how to interact with people who know something about you that you can never change. But there are a fair number of us at the hospital. And if she has someone that has her back that can go a long way."

Before Alex could respond or ask another question the scans started to appear on the screen.

Alex looked with wide eyes. "Whoa, that mass is huge," he said as he pointed to the screen.

"Damn it," Arizona sighed. "We're going to need to book an OR."

Arizona sat on Callie's couch that afternoon. A bag's worth of clothes put away. Sofia was in a pack and play with some toys that didn't make noise. Arizona wanted her close in case her parents wanted to meet her, but she thought holding Sofia from the start might be a little much.

When she saw the Skype call come through, she clicked to connect. Her parents were sitting side by side at the kitchen table.

"Hello, honey," Barbara smiled brightly at her daughter.

"You look well, Arizona," Daniel said with a nod of his head.

"Hi Mom," Arizona smiled back. "Hi Dad."

"How are things going?" Barbara asked as she looked at her daughter. "We talk so often, but you only ask for Skype calls when something big is going on."

Arizona shifted a bit as she thought of how to tell her parents about the little bundle of joy about ten feet from her. She took in a breath to use Sofia and Callie's scents to soothe her before just ripping the band-aid off.

"I have a daughter," Arizona blurted. "Vampires have the ability to sire children with human women. It's not important how right now, but the important thing is I did it. I didn't know that at the time but found out I did. And Callie, my daughter's mother, and I have been working to integrate me into Sofia's life. Sofia is my daughter. And she is amazing. She really is. She is so smart, and she is such a good baby. She's about fourteen months, and she is so awesome. I love her so much, and I know the two of you will love her. Right?"

The Colonel looked over at his wife before looking back to his daughter as she rambled on. "Arizona, are you telling me you got a woman pregnant two years ago and are just stepping up now?"

"I didn't know until now," Arizona said as she tried to explain herself to her father. "Once we did a DNA test to confirm it, we started to make plans. As soon as I knew, I stepped up. I did."

"I thought my daughter coming out as a lesbian meant I could stop worrying about unexpected pregnancies. I suppose that was too much to ask." Daniel shook his head.

"Daniel," Barb said sternly. "Arizona made a mistake, honey. And now she is doing what she should." She reminded him as she rubbed her husband's arm. "Do you have a photo of her, honey?"

"I have so many," Arizona said. She was so thankful for her mom right now to keep her father from going on a rant. "Here." She pulled up the share feature and started a slideshow of photos of Sofia, Callie and a few with her in them too.

"Oh my," Barb said. She held her hand up to her chest as she looked at her granddaughter for the first time. "She's so beautiful."

"I love her so much," Arizona whispered. "Callie is amazing. She has been such a good mother to her. And she and I are together now. I care about her. She makes me happy. Calm."

"Is it wise for you to jump into a relationship?" Daniel asked. He melted a bit at the images, but he couldn't help but worry about Arizona rushing.

"I don't know if it's wise," Arizona admitted. "But she and I work together. She's an ortho surgeon. So, there is a lot of understanding between us work wise which is really great. I care about her already. I am not with her because of Sofia, but it does make things easier."

"When can we see Sofia?" Barb asked. "Maybe on the computer first before we come out?"

"Hold on, she's here," Arizona set the laptop to the side before going over and picking up Sofia. "Hi, baby girl," She kissed her cheek as her daughter giggled at the raspberry she blew.

Arizona sat back down with Sofia on her lap. She put the computer on the coffee table so her parents could see the two of them together. Sofia tiling her head before reaching toward the computer to grab it. Arizona wrapped an arm around her waist to secure her.

"Mom, Dad, this is Sofia," Arizona said as she looked at her parent's faces closely. "Sofia, this is your grandma and grandpa."

"Hi," Sofia grinned with the faint outline of dimples on her cheeks.

"Arizona, she's beautiful," Barb whispered. "Oh honey she is just perfect."

"Thanks, Mom." Arizona dropped a kiss on the top of her daughter's head.

"You'll be a good mother," Daniel said as he softened a little more seeing his daughter holding hers. "She seems like a happy girl."

"She is," Arizona smiled. "She is such a good baby."

"Honey, when can we come meet her?" Barb asked. She already was planning how to get them from Boston, where they settled, to Seattle as quickly as possible.

"Can you give us a few weeks to get us settled before you come out?" Arizona requested. "We're just figuring things out and adjusting."

"November for your birthday then," Daniel said without any room for argument.

"You know I don't celebrate my birthday," Arizona sighed.

"You have a child now," Daniel said. "One who won't understand why her mommy doesn't want her birthday to be a good day."

"That's fine," Arizona said to stave off a fight.

Arizona spent the next three hours with her parents. Sofia seemed to be content in Arizona's arms or her lap for all of it except when Arizona took the laptop to the table to feed her a bit of dinner. It was nice to have something truly good to share with her parents for a change. The last time she Skyped them, she told them she was moving to Seattle.

When Callie got home, Arizona and Sofia were on the couch together.

"How did it go with your parents?" Callie asked after setting her bag down.

"Honestly, they took it better than I thought," Arizona admitted. "They want to come out, but I talked them into waiting to come out until November when my birthday is."

"Which day?" Callie came around the couch and sat on the coffee table. She reached over to rub Sofia's back as she lay sleeping on Arizona's chest.

"November 5th," Arizona said. "I'm not a huge fan of my birthday, but Dad pointed out with Sofia I won't be able to hide from it."

"No?" Callie asked.

Arizona lifted her legs so Callie could sit at the end of the couch with her legs in her lap. Callie took the hint and sat down before rubbing her hand over Arizona's calf.

"It was the last time I saw Tim alive. He surprised me for my birthday and shipped out a week later," Arizona explained as she rubbed Sofia's back. "It's a hard day. But maybe with Sofia and you now, it can be a better one."

"We don't have to do anything you don't want," Callie promised.

"Thanks," Arizona smiled.

"There is something we need to talk about," Callie said. She shifted a little on the couch as she tried to figure out how to frame the question.

"Alright," Arizona said, unsure of what it could be.

"You used your charm on Sofia so she can sleep peacefully," Callie started.

"I have, yes," Arizona confirmed.

"Have you used it on me?" Callie asked. She couldn't get the question out of her mind since she found out what Arizona did. The thought of Arizona charming her worried her more than she cared to admit.

"No," Arizona said quickly. "I haven't. I wouldn't. You … I never want you to do anything you don't want with me. I don't want what it would be like for you to do something with me under my charm. I just wanted her to sleep peacefully. I wanted to give her good dreams."

"I believe you," Callie said with a nod. "I just needed to ask since it caught me off guard."

"Calliope, if I just wanted blood from you I could have taken it by now. I could have charmed you or even just asked for it. I could have, but I haven't. Because I never want to put you under my charm. Ever. Maybe if you're super sick or hurt so you can get rest, but never without you asking me to. I swear it." Arizona swung her legs to the floor before sitting up with her hands on Sofia to keep her in place.

"I believe you," Callie said a second time. "I do, Arizona. I didn't really think you had, but I needed to hear you say it."

Arizona nodded at the fair reasoning. "I should have spoken to you about it before I did it."

"It would have been nice but what you are doing isn't a problem. It's just hard for me to understand where some of these lines are." Callie wrapped her arm around Arizona's shoulders.

Arizona leaned her head against Callie's. "When I bite you and heal but leave the marks showing, it will prevent me from charming you unwillingly. Once you are bitten and marked willingly, you're immune unless you willingly submit. To me and any other vampires."

"I looked into the supplements," Callie said. She didn't mention she had been on them since the day after Arizona told her about them.

"Yeah?" Arizona said. She tried to keep the excitement from her voice but didn't cover it well.

"Yup," Callie said. She stood up and offered Arizona her hand to help her hand. "Let's go feed Sofia and then you and I can watch something together in bed."

"I love watching you feed her," Arizona smiled.

"You mean the free show you get of my boobs," Callie teased.

"That is very much a perk," Arizona said as they headed to Sofia's room.
