Disclaimer: Naruto don't belong to me
A/N: I'm back at it! Just a midnight idea.
"Why are you out here Kura? It's balls hot here." Ino came up from behind the pink hair girl who sat still on the back steps of their school building. She bent over to see what her friend was drawing in her sketchpad, but as her long blond hair fell over her shoulder and onto the pinkettes head and the book was abruptly closed.
"Fresh air helps me clear my mind." Sakura looked up at her with a small smile, Ino was about to tease her and yank her book away when suddenly a voice was heard from the far distance gaining both girls attention.
"Sasuke it's your turn now!" Coach Guy called out.
Sakura cheeks turned pink as she too looked up to her right where the school's open field was, the boy's soccer team was practicing at the moment. Ino grins devilishly as her friend as she fanned herself with her hand. "Fresh air huh?" She shoved at Sakura's shoulder and laughed. Sakura chooses to ignore her as she gathered her things to leave, however, Ino didn't miss how slow she was and the fact that her eyes were cast on the felid still. Her hands blindly search the ground to pick up her belongings.
Rolling her eyes she left the pink hair girl to herself, it was no fun to tease the girl if she was going to ignore her.
When Sasuke was finished with his turn he went back to the benches to drink water, Sakura sighed and took her leave. She hadn't noticed when Naruto pointed to her direction and made Sasuke look her way, staring at her back. His eyes kept on her until he couldn't see her anymore.
She entered the double doors with her things in hand to looked for Ino, with no luck she began walking to where their usual hangout spot was, the rooftop that they claimed after becoming seniors of the school. Walking past the vending machine her skin cooled down instantly, with the cool air-conditioning on, the school had installed them since they lived in a very hot region. She was grateful for it too, at their middle school it was horrible with no AC system but only fans.
Walking up the short flight of stairs she pushed the door open with her shoulder to meet some of her many friends hanging out by the railings.
"Oh, lover girl joins us." Tenten winked at her, the others giving her teasing looks, Sakura rolled her eyes mainly at Ino for gossiping. She walks over to Shikamaru and dumped her stuff into his bag without a word. "Oh come on, I walked with this for my stuff you know." He grumbled, Temari his girlfriend smacked him over the head. "Hush babe." She hissed at him making him mumble out a 'troublesome'. They all now turning to her as they took a seat next to each other except for Ino who remained standing.
"So Sasuke's turn is over I'm thinking?" Ino mocked, it was just the four of them today, Sakura dropped herself next to Tenten allowing the girl to pull her onto her lap to rest her head. "Shut up pig, as if you weren't staring at Sai during gym class yesterday" Sakura diverted the conversation from her and Sasuke, she didn't like getting into it with them.
Shikamaru piped up at that, he dramatically looked at Sakura then at Ino while he spoke. "Wait she likes Sai now? What happened to Kiba?" Temari rolled her eyes at her boyfriend from the spot in-between his legs, even though her back was to him she could see his face by looking up.
"First of all you lame lame man, I never liked Kiba, he liked me and I was testing waters with him but he just isn't it, secondly Sai looks really good in shorts, Kiba has moved on and so am I ok. Thirdly forehead, make a fucking move, Sasuke sure as hell isn't going to and you two have been playing cat and dog for forever now." Ino was out doing Shikamaru on being dramatic at this point as she threw her hands around. Her face contorted with every word she said, it felt like watching a bad audition for their school play.
"Amen sister, but it's cat and mouse."
"Preach it louder, and Ten is right."
"You said it Blondie." Shikamaru gave a high-five to Ino as he said this. Sakura was about to give a lecture they heard all the time before they were interrupted by the door swinging open, Sakura got up from laying on Tenten's lap to look at the new comer. It was none other than Naruto, still in his soccer outfit. "Where is my girlfriend?" He asked very loudly as he walked over to the group. Sakura was a bit happy he came in to distract her friends about her and Sasuke.
"Hinata has quire practice right now," Temari informed making the blonde boy nod his head, he then turned to Sakura and made a face. "Oh right, Sasuke is looking for you, he said to tell you to meet him at the back of the stairs, you know where you were staring at him earlier on." As he finished this the rest of their friends made teasing noises of 'oh's' and 'ah's' making her roll her eyes once again. Naruto himself grind at her and wiggled his eyebrows as she got up to leave. But she wouldn't be Sakura if she hadn't stopped to punch him in the head first.
"Hey! Sakura wait! collect your stuff first." Shikamaru called out to her, she kept walking, and with her back to them, she raised her hand only to flip him off as she disappeared behind the door.
Making her way to the same exact spot she was in just a while ago Sakura felt her nerves building up, she knew why he could be calling her like this, to be in private away from their friends like they did a lot more than their friends knew about. Opening the door she saw him leaning against the railing looking at the felid, right where she was. "Sasuke?" She called out for his attention, although she knew he heard the door open.
He slowly turned to her, their eyes locking; her cheeks went pink once again. He gave away nothing, his face remained the same blank one she was used to seeing when their friends were around. He was a different person when they were alone, that's what she was used to, so it was weird to have him stare at her like that right now. "Sakura, I want to ask you something." He went back to leaning on the railing, but his eyes were on her now, he motioned with his head for her to come closer. And so she did, going to stand right next to him, she leaned on the railing as well staring at the door now. "Yeah? What about?" Sakura was trying hard to keep her cool like he was, she didn't want him to know how nervous she was.
It's not like she was'nt use to being around him, she was used to him more than she was to anyone.
"I want to tell them, and make things official, so we can go to prom together as more than friends, and leave this school as more than friends." Ok so maybe it was more than she expected, she thought it will be about prom alone. She didn't expect this, and it showed the way she bounced off the railing to stand directly in front of him with wide eyes but a grin was present on her face.
So it happened way back at the beginning of Junior year when she had had enough of cat and dog games as her friends called it and confronted Sasuke. They kissed and became physical, then the secret dates, they were already a thing. Just in secret. Sure she had moments she wished she could say he was hers already and she was his even if sneaking around was fun. But she had to admit the privacy of their relationship was good too. Sasuke liked his privacy, he had proved to her countless times he loved her so she never questioned that.
He showed her countless times that they didn't need their friends snooping around what they had, and to some extent, she agreed. She loved her friends but they could get in the way sometimes, plus she didn't want to bother with explaining herself to them back them. She was ready now though.
"Really, like really really?!" She piped up, making him smirk and pull her into him while nodding. "Yeah really, why not at this point, right." She nods back at him with a grin on her face, why not. Sasuke was proving how serious he was about them once again.
Taking a hold of his offered hand she walked back up to the rooftop to meet her friends with Sasuke ready to make their announcement.
