This is a fanfiction about Rune Factory 4. If I happen to get anything wrong about the lore, do not hesitate to tell me via a review. I will edit it as soon as I can.

The main characters are named Fresca and Lenette, and it will be told by Lenette's POV. Let's begin.

It was a long and arduous time, but I'd managed to not only reach the platinum of Rune Factory 4, but I also managed to get every single animatic for the different waifus and husbandos, got every single item shipped in the game, and I'd managed to get to the point where everyone was equipped with the best gear for battle, the best and strongest boss monsters in the game in my barns, and a full collection of armor, weaponry, items, everything up to level 10 total in power.

How long did this take, you may ask? Since the time the game came out to the current date of January 17th of 2023! It was agonizing and took WAY longer than you may think, but I did it and I felt really proud.

My name is Lenette, the girl who had done the impossible and managed to accomplish everything in Rune Factory 4, my favorite farming game of all time. I felt proud to have gotten to this point, and I'd made sure that I took a video of my current status in the game to show to everyone that I'd gotten to this point and that I'd managed to have a girl main character marry Dylas and have a kid in the form of the male child... and I also showed off that I had every single animatic of both introductions to the bachelors/ettes, but also when you engaged in their final heart event. I then sighed and proceeded to go to bed, having felt so exhausted after having done so...

But then, this is where the magic happened. While I slept, I had a dream that didn't look too abnormal... I was in Rune Factory, of course, as it was my life long goal to do everything in the game. And then, out of nowhere, I heard a voice.

"Chosen one... you have finally arrived," I heard a voice, me looking around in confusion, as the voice sounded... way too much like human Ventuswill from the illustration easter egg. And then, I gawked as I was then surrounded on all sides by the different guardians of Amber, Dylas, Dolce, and Leon, as well as the four Native Dragons of Terrable, Fiersome, Aquaticus, and Ventuswill... the only thing to note was that said dragons each had a human version of themselves appear in front of their repsective forms.

"Um... wow, this is bizarre," I admitted as I felt this dream was getting too real... heck, all the characters looked realistic, not at all like their anime versions! Only the eye size remained the same!

"It is, especially since it's taken too long for this moment to happen," said the voice of Terrable, me seeing his human version was a male who had clothes that were adorned with sand-coated Egyptian garb and he even had mummy bandages on his arms and legs.

"We need your help, Earthmate from another dimension," said the voice of Aquaticus's human form, her being the tallest of the lot as well as having hair that was flowing as if it were made of CGI water and looked as blue as such. Her garb was in a long, flowing blue dress that was just as deep a blue as her dragons' scales.

"The forces of the Earthmates are long dwindling in our dimension... only a scant few remain," said the voice of Fiersome, him sounding much more tame than I expected from a dragon of the aspect of destruction. His human form was the bulkiest in pure muscle and his hair was literally ablaze ala Sweet Tooth.

"You are probably very confused by what we are speaking of, so would you like the short version, or the long version?" Ventuswill's human version asked, me looking around in confusion before then asking one question.

"Before that, I must ask... is this real? Or am I in a very weird dream?" I asked.

"This is real, not a dream whatsoever. We've trapped your mortal form in time until we explain the situation," Venti said, me gawking and nodding. No way would this be in any of my dreams. I never had lucid dreams in my life, so if this was one, then it was either a miracle or this was actually happening.

"Okay... can you give me the short version?" I asked.

"In our world, the Earthmate population is going down drastically, to the point that our lands are suffering more hardships by the day," Ventuswill began to explain. "We've been told by our forefathers that there would be disaster such as this, and that we'd know when our salvation would arrive, when an Earthmate's true essence would be revealed in a universe not our own... and that's where you come in... by beating every accomplishment in that simulation you call a game, you've proven you are the salvation we need to save our world... but in order to do so, you'd need to tie your spirit to that of another Earthmate, the closest one to me at this time," Venti said, me gawking at that.

"U-Um... that's a long explanation for the short version... um... if I go through with this, I have to ask... would I be able to return to my home dimension? Or see anyone from my world again?" I asked.

"A little worse than that. Should you go through with this, every aspect from your previous life aside from your vast knowledge of this world, your name, and your Earthmate powers will be lost to you. It's a very tough decision, I'm aware," Aquaticus said, me sighing at that and nodding.

"If we go through with this, do one thing for my mortal body before you do so. Leave a message of some kind to let them know I've moved onto another side, and to frame my Rune Factory 4 accomplishment on the internet. Are you able to do so?" I asked, them nodding at me.

"It's a very simple thing for me to do, but know that I'll be tired out after I do so," Aquaticus explained.

"I'll try to help you when the manure hits the fan, then. Especially from the Sechs and their horrid leader..." I said as I then clenched my fists and nodded. "I'm in," I said, Ventuswill nodding as she then combined her strengths with the four guardians an the other Native Dragons and I then felt... almost all of my knowledge be lost to the void... and then I felt a large thunk happen to my head as I ended up getting collided onto a big airship and my head was right next to the form of the main character of the game!... Wait... game? That's right, this world was a game! And I had... tons of knowledge about it! But then, when I looked at the form of the one I'd landed onto, I saw... their entire backstory! All of it entering my brain all at once! I was so in shock, I didn't even feel the force of... wind? I looked at the direction of the draft and saw that an armed soldier was trying to slice my back apart!

"WHAT?! What kind of monster are you?!" he asked, me frowning at him angrily as I then saw that the Rune Stones had fallen off of the Airship in the process... and that there was a total of four of them that had fallen off. And they had spread out across the area of Selphia, with one being sent to Yokmir Forest, another to the Water Ruins, another sent hurdling towards Obsidian Mansion, and the final had landed right atop of Doug's head!

"I'm not in the mood for you getting on my bad side," I frowned as I then did something that made me shocked. I sent forth a powerful triple laser of water that blasted the duo of armed guards away from me and had them collide into the airship's balloon!

"ACK! What did you do?!" the one in charge of the ship shouted.

"We're getting off this boat while they cook!" I shouted as I saw the balloon was losing air from the duo being trapped in the shrinking balloon, me grabbing the captain of the airship and the main character before then jumping down as I then summoned the power of fire on the leaking balloon, me hearing the sounds of tormented screaming as the balloon for the airship then blew up in an amazing fashion as I had to traject my fall to land our trio down through the roof of the castle of Selphia and, when I did, I saw the sight of a giant dragon of wind beneath me, which I sent out a blast of wind to get her attention and to slow my trio's descent greatly!

"What the?! EEEK!" the giant dragon shrieked in surprise as I then ended up still faceplanting on the ground... or, the other two did... I ended up phasing right through it! I then exited the dirty ground and looked at the large dragon, who looked at me, the airship captain, and the female heroine and looked at us in shock.

"What the?... Are you alright?" Ventuswill asked us, me sighing at that.

"Um... I-I guess so..." the airship guy said. "I'm uh... I'm gonna need to just sit down and sleep... b-bye..." the airship guy said, me then doing one more thing and removing the memories of everything he'd heard of thus far and then teleporting him away to the Inn.

"W-What?... Did you just do?" Ventuswill asked me in confusion.

"I... honestly don't know how I did it, but I wiped the memories of an hour ago to now from his mind and warped him to the Inn so he could get some rest... anyways, what about you, miss? You okay?" I asked as the girl finally stirred.

"I... I think I am... where am I?" she asked in confusion.

"You're in the castle of Selphia," Ventuswill said, her not even using her deep voice at all.

"And... who am I?" she asked, me then looking at her and sighing.

"You are Fresca, and you were coming here on an important mission... but then a couple soldiers attacked us on the airship and they made you lose almost all of your memories... as well as our precious cargo," I frowned.

"Um... may I ask who you are and how you knew that?" Fresca asked.

"I'm sure miss Ventuswill can explain for us, right?" I asked, her then gasping at that.

"Oh? Uh... Ahem... I AM VENTUSWILL, THE DIVINE WIND! AND AS FOR WHAT IS GOING ON... I SHALL EXPLAIN IT LATER ON, BUT NOT RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT," she said, me then hearing the voice of a loud butler coming forward.

"LADY VENTUSWILL!" shouted the most extra of all butlers, Volkanon. "I heard a loud noise and then I heard you shriek! Are these two the ones responsible?!" he asked, which I then held my hands up.

"EASY, VOLKANON. I SHALL EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED, AND THEN WE'LL GET THEIR SIDE OF THE STORY," Ventuswill said, us then sharing our stories with me alerting Ventuswill by sending a half-hearted wind spell to slow my descent, as myself and Fresca had been sent hurtling down from an Airship that was in the process of blowing up because of it being captured by mercenaries. I explained how I attacked the mercenaries with magic I had no inkling as to where it came from (I could've sworn that was a word, but the others looked confused as to that word) and sent them into the balloon itself, only to then explode it with a fire spell as I fell off with myself, Fresca, and the airship owner. And that both myself and Fresca had forgotten a whole lot about our pasts, but for me, I knew I was from... another universe... and that I was sent here because I was an amazingly powerful Earthmate.

"E-Earthmate? As in, one who is one with nature itself?" Volkanon asked.

"IT APPEARS THAT THESE RUFFIANS HAD QUITE THE ISSUE WITH WHATEVER CARGO YOU WERE CARRYING... PRAY TELL, MAY YOU SHARE WHAT THIS IMPORTANT CARGO MAY HAVE BEEN?" Ventuswill asked.

"Rune Stones," I said, which made Ventuswill look shocked and for her to be at a loss for words. "From what I saw in Fresca's memories before she forgot everything, we were given a task by a halfling of human and golden wooly to restore the Runes to this land... we would need to replace the current supply of Runes to this area, but only after we removed the current batteries from their ports, as they were growing dim..." and the others looked confused when I used that wording... and so did I. "Oh... um... I guess that my memories of my old dimension may be coming in at parts and bits, but only from dictionary words... I think another means of saying it is that the current source of energy is getting low on power, and the land was fading in magic. So we needed the Rune Stones to replace them, as these Rune Stones were forged from four gates of legendary magic... each one was overflowing with near unlimited magic from worlds that no one had seen before... if we were to place these runes in those specific places, it'd not only provide this land with magic for eternity, but it would spread across the world slowly and gradually," I explained, which Volkanon gawked at.

"My word... no wonder those scoundrels would want to get their hands on you! If those Rune Stones had that much power, then even holding one could give them unfathomable power for evil! We need to find those Rune Stones by any means necessary!" Volkanon stated.

"BUT THEN... WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOU TWO, THEN?" Ventuswill asked, me looking at Fresca and smirking.

"Well, from what I saw, my magic is unfathomable and I'm actually kind of tethered to Fresca in some ways. Maybe we could work together with the town of Selphia and we can get the Rune Stones faster as well as find the different places to put them and, in the process, save the land," I smirked.

"It sounds like a tall task, but if what you say is true, it'll be the best hope we have! I'll get to spreading word of-"

"NO, VOLKANON," Ventuswill said, which made him look confused. And then color all of us shocked when she started to speak without her deep, imposing voice! "These Rune Stones have untold power within them, power that even exceeds my own, it seems. If word spread far and wide that a Rune Stone of such might existed in these lands, let alone 4 of them, then we'll be prime targets for whoever hired those mercenaries to attack our beloved town. We are not prepared for such an attack, so we'll need to trust in just a small team to do so. And that team will have to consist of these two Earthmates, as only they can do this task," Venti said, which Volkanon looked at her in surprise.

"M-My lady Ventuswill... what was with your voice just now?" he asked.

"Just ignore it for now, I'll explain later," Ventuswill said, which Volkanon nodded and bowed politely. "In order for this to work, we need you two to train in the ways of the Earthmates, since I see that, though your magic strength is great, your physical strength is quite lacking. You'll need to be trained in the best way possible. Farming the fields," Ventuswill spoke.

"Wait... are you saying what I think you are, Lady Ventuswill?" Volkanon asked in surprise.

"We'll need to send word ahead to the prince that we need to ask him of what he wishes to do... we need to train these two for an upcoming crisis, one that threatens the entire world. Even if the Rune Stones were placed, they'd need to be protected for up to a month at the least before their essences are completely absorbed into the earth itself. For some places that have been without their strength for far longer, it'd require a longer strength, those being in the Yokmir Forest and the Watery Ruins. We need to train you two up in order to get everything settled... can I count on you two to work hard in order to save these lands?" Ventuswill asked, me looking at Fresca and her looking to be a bit confused.

"U-Um... I uh..." she said before I held her hand.

"Please, Fresca? In exchange, I'll try to share everything about your past with you, every bit of it. Help you recover your memory, and all," I smiled. And that was enough for her.

"Okay, we're in!" she smirked.

"Very well, then it's set. Volkanon, may I ask for you to have Vishnal and Clorica send word ahead to Prince Arthur? Let him know that we need to discuss important matters in privacy and that it involves his title as prince of the castle," she said.

"I shall get Vishnal to wake up Clorica right away!" Volkanon smirked as he then took his leave and I looked at Ventuswill and she looked at me and Fresca.

"Is there something on your mind, Lenette?" she asked.

"I just... didn't expect you to lower your guard out of nowhere. I would've thought you'd keep the deep voice act going for the entirety of our conversation," I explained.

"Hmph! If you were to make it so the Rune Stones are absorbed into the earth, then I'll be able to live for as long as this land does. And I know that I can at least lower my guard to the citizens of the town. For outsiders, I will keep the act going, but not for those that become citizenry," Ventuswill spoke, me smiling at that.

"Trust me, it'll make things easier if you did so. Especially if your life was on the line. They wouldn't want you to solve their problems, they'd want to do whatever they could to assist you as much as possible," I smirked.

"It'll be hard, but I'll try to do so," she smiled. "Now why don't you and Fresca get some rest? You'll need it after falling that long from the sky and after that blow to the head," Ventuswill smiled.

"T-Thank you, Ventuswill," Fresca smiled.

"Please, call me Venti. You can be informal to me if you so wish," she smirked.

"Okay. I hope you sleep tight as well, Venti... that is, if dragons need sleep at all," I smiled.

"We can, it's just that our sleep schedule is quite different than that of a human's. I'll tell you how that were to work if you happen to get strong enough to replace the first Rune," she said, me nodding at her.

"You got it... and starting tomorrow, we'll try our hardest to not only do that, but also speak to the townsfolk so we can get to know them. If we're going to be in a position of castle farmer, then we'll need to familiarize ourselves with the locals," Fresca smiled.

"Huh... and here I thought you'd be the informal one. You may have forgotten a lot, Fresca, but your nobility still shines proudly," I smiled at her.

"Can you tell me stories of what my past held when we go to bed?" she asked.

"Uh, no. We'll wait until after we wake up," I said.

"Aw... Why not?"

"If you learned more about your past before going to bed, it'd make you so excited that you'd be completely unable to fall asleep. Trust me, it happened to me a lot before... huh... dammit, right as I'm about to remember my old life before this one, it slips from my view," I groaned.

"But... how did you know my name and Ventuswill's? And everything from what those guys were wanting with the Rune Stones and how strong they were?" she asked.

"I'll say this once so you remember forever. I was sent to this world from my own reality by the four Native Dragons, which included Ventuswill. Something about me being the most powerful Earthmate to have ever walked this planet and that it happened when I'd learned everything about this reality from my own alternate one... ah! Technology's more advanced in my old world! I remembered something!" I gawked.

"Well, that counts as learning something about your past. Now tell me something about mine," Fresca smirked, me smacking my incorporeal face.

"Okay, fine. You're from a long line of Earthmates that have lived in seclusion with monsters, having been raised near a village that was at peace with humans and monsters living in harmony. And you were the daughter of the halfling of human and Golden Wooly, him being an Earthmate just as well. You were sent here with those Rune Stones for two reasons. One, to rescue Ventuswill, as her entire essence of life is tied to the land of Selphia and its Runes. We need to find those Rune Stones by any means necessary, before any bad guys do. Otherwise, the world will be grave danger... especially if it were the Sechs Empire..." I shuddered.

"The Sechs Empire? Who are they?" Fresca asked.

"A mercenary dystopia that kills innocent towns and people, with their emperor's ultimate endgoal being the eradication and extermination of all Earthmates. Should he succeed, he'll rule everyone nearly unopposed... and if he gets access to those Rune Stones... he could very well destroy this world with that kind of power," I said. "We should get some sleep. We'll focus on the important things tomorrow as we get beefed up," I spoke to her.

"Okay... hey, it may feel weird to ask... can we cuddle?" she asked, me smiling at her.

"Platonic, got it?" I smiled at her.

"Of course. Besides, I don't know how I'd be able to impregnate a ghost," she admitted as we then got under the covers and cuddled... but only then did I realize something about both of us.

"U-Um... why do we both have dicks?" I asked her.

"Oh? I thought you knew?" she asked, me blushing at that.

"U-Um... are all Earthmates hermaphrodites or something?"

"Yes, we all are. Some are more masculine, some more feminine, others are somewhere in between... hey, I remembered something all on my own! Weird, huh?" she smirked.

"Yeah, it is... let's just sleep... it feels warm," I smiled, me needing to stay firmly tightened to Fresca so I didn't accidentally phase through the covers or the bed itself... it'd take some time to get used to being a ghost... and who knew what'd happen if I went too far off my leash in Fresca? Or even how far too far was? Until I could get definitive answers from Dolce and Pico, I'd need to rely on staying as close to Fresca as I could, only going as far as a few meters away from her. Basically from one side of a boss arena to the other would be my limit for now.
