Ben was extremely proud of Wendy because she defeated Mermaid Heel's best mage, Kagura. He kept praising her when they were in the guild's lodging that night. Wendy surprised him by activating Drive during her battle.
He's so proud he drank a lot that night. Ben never drank alcohol that much, but this is a noteworthy moment, so he drank a lot. He saw his first family member in this world grow into an amazing mage right in front of his eyes.
Apparently, that's not enough to show proud of a big brother Ben is. He kept bragging about it during the last day of the tournament. They continued after three days of rest, and Ben kept bragging about Wendy's victory over those three days.
That's why everyone is tired of it and they ignore Ben's bragging. Fortunately, he didn't do it the whole day and stopped as the last event was about to start. He needs to be a commentator, so he quit bragging about it and focused on the event.
The last event will decide the winner of this year's tournament. Fairy Tail has 68 points, Lamia Scale has 65 points, Sabertooth has 63 points and other teams have less points. The chance for other teams to win this tournament is small, but they still have a chance.
The last event's point format will give all teams a chance to win, albeit a small one. It's because the last event can give them a total of 80 points. But getting all those points will be difficult and nearly impossible.
It's because the last event's name is Territorial War Zone. In this event, each team can choose a base anywhere in the capital except the castle and stadium. The whole city will be a battleground, just like it was last year.
Each team needs to protect their base from other teams and capture other teams bases to gain points. Each base gives them 10 points and losing a base costs them 10 points. But their mission isn't just capturing bases, they need to protect them during the event's 5 hour time limit.
That's why it's almost impossible for the teams to get 80 points because they only have 5 members. Defeating their opponents also doesn't get them points and there's no disqualification for those defeated. So the ones that were defeated can try to recapture bases again.
50 points are the most they can get if all 5 of their members can capture and defend 5 bases including theirs until the end. The only way to get all 80 points is by making sure all their opponents lose their bases and can't defend them until the end by immobilizing them.
Each team needs to mark the bases with flags that have their guild's symbol on it. So the points will be counted from the number of bases that have their flags when the event ends. It's quite a simple event, but it's not an easy one.
They start the event and the spectators are surprised to see that all the competitors are not moving. It's an obvious strategy considering how this event works and the 5 hour time limit. If they capture other bases now, they will need to defend multiple bases for 5 hours.
Instead of that, they chose to move in the late game so they'll only need to defend for a short amount of time. Maybe they will start attacking in the last hour and prepare their attack now. So there won't be any action for 4 hours which is really bad because the spectators will be bored.
But the organizer had prepared for this they predicted this would happen when they came up with the event. So they've prepared something that will start the action of this event. Ben participated in the creation of what will appear soon.
The castle's main gate suddenly opened after being closed for this event to prevent the mages from using it as a base. Then, armored troops came out of the castle and they all look very sturdy. There are a few kinds of troops and even weapons among them.
Thousands of troops came out of the castle and gathered into eight groups with 150 soldiers each. The groups then move separately and everyone immediately knew where they went. They are marching to the teams' bases to launch attacks.
Ben's participation is that he made all those sturdy troops with Arc of Embodiment. So he knew what the event was, but he didn't tell anyone. He's also the one controlling all of them right now. But that's also a big problem for the mages even though all those soldiers are made to be normal knights without any magic power whatsoever.
The biggest problem is that Ben is controlling them, so they will fight really well even without magic. Ben might be the most experienced mage when it comes to fighting mages without using magic. Also, 150 isn't a small number that can be ignored even if they are mages.
The knight platoons reach the bases after a while and launch their attacks. They stop quite far away from the bases first where most mages won't be able to attack them even with ranged spells. Then they start shooting the mages bases with giant catapults.
Giant boulders are flying towards the bases and surprising the mages. They start doing what they can to defend their bases by destroying the boulders. But these aren't real boulders that were destroyed, they released numerous miniature bombs that rain down on the bases.
The bases are being bombarded and no team can completely defend against this surprise attack. Ben is grinning from ear to ear because this is very fun. He was an elite soldier in his past life and he trained for this kind of war without magic.
He used modern weapons in his past life, but the concept is still the same. So this is quite fun for him because he can show off his skills that he never used completely in this life. Well, he never used them in his past life because he was just a soldier back then and hasn't gone up in rank yet because he was still too young.
Still, he was the best in his generation when it came to strategies. He was even praised a lot by the higher-ups and projected to be a strategist after gaining more experience. But his life came to an end after he killed the members of the biker gang that murdered his family.
Ben has moved on from that, so it doesn't matter anymore. The most important thing now is that he still has his ability to come up with strategies. He's not the best strategist, but his strategy is unique and can't be predicted by the mages.
They were overwhelmed by the platoon's attacks that can't be predicted. No one knows what the knights will use next and their bases are continuing to be hit by the attacks. The knights also focus on long ranged attacks now and use strong long-ranged weapons that can't be defended against easily.
Ben equipped his knights with long-range medieval weapons. They also have powerful cannons that can destroy the castle walls. The cannons are by far the most annoying weapon for the mages to deal with because they have power and range.
Scarmiglione and Orochi's Fin's teams were wiped out by the siege in the first hour. So now, two bases were occupied by the knights and the others are having a hard time defending their bases. Every team tried to reserve their power for their battle with other teams in the last game, that's why they are overwhelmed easily.
But they can't really hold back now because they will lose if this continues. So they start defending their bases and attack the knights seriously. They left their best defenders in the bases and send their best attackers to take the knights on that have spread out in the areas around them while firing long-range weapons like crossbows.
The remaining teams finally get rid of the knights after 3 hours. Ben tried his best, but he couldn't do much about the power difference between normal people and mages. He had done significant damage though, and the spectators are happy, so it's good enough.
Now, the teams will start competing again because now they know it's not easy to take the bases. So they need to start attacking now if they want to succeed. Also, there are two bases that have been captured by the knights which really tempt them.
Chapati fanned the flame and asked, "Now, which team will get another base first and conquer the Territorial War Zone?"
