Chapter 1: Prologue: Revna

Anonymous being

The being slowly opened their eyes after a long time. They had calculated the future and lost track of time, ironically. It seems to be the year 2000 AD, they thought. That means there is not much time. They sighed. The things that lay ahead looked bleak. The being knew what they had to do, for the future would become even worse. Still, they hesitated. After all, they had promised him never to touch it. But they had no choice. The entity reached out and pulled up the object from their well. With a mighty toss, it launched away. This would have to do. Now, they would wait. Whoever would be fortunate -or unfortunate- enough to find it, they would no doubt come to them. And so it began.

Revna

The 16 year old Revna Belial was happily walking through the woods one nice Saturday morning, book under her arm. She was softly singing a song. Some people said she could sing really well, but she was too shy to do anything with it. But that didn't matter. Right now, she was just looking for a place to read her new book. As she was looking, she saw something through the trees. A closer look brought her a mysterious sight. A clearing, with a bunch of ancient looking stones standing upright, forming a circle. And in the middle of the circle stood an... altar? Or so it seemed, anyway. But there was something on the altar. Hesitantly, she stepped inside the circle, warily looking at the tall stones. But nothing happened. Revna approached the altar and found a small, stone orb in front of her. It looked like a normal pebble, but way too smooth for it to be natural. She picked it up, and still nothing happened. She inspected the stone, mesmerized by it. She pocketed the stone while looking around her. With the coming of Thor and Loki, some people in Scandinavia had taken up the ancient religions once more. While she wasn't aware of any such people in her town, this certainly looked like a place that could serve as a sacred place of worship. She quickly left, orb still in her pocket. When she went and looked for the clearing later, she was never able to find it again.

Revna

The bell rang and students poured out of the modern building. It was a Friday afternoon and Revna was so done with this week! She had a stupid chemistry test she knew she flunked and she needed to vent some frustrations. Luckily for her, her jiu jitsu practice was perfect. And then curl up with a good book and -

"You ready for today's practice, Rev?"

A voice interrupted her internal monologue. She looked and saw her best -who was she kidding, her only- friend, Nora. Most people found her too distant, but Nora had seen through it right away and they had been friends ever since.

"Yup. After Mr. Scherper's test, I can use something to punch,"

she laughed. They locked arms and went their merry way, not knowing that afternoon would change Revna's life.

Revna

Revna slouched down on the chair in her room, completely drained. Today's training had been way harder than she had thought. She opened her window to let in some fresh air and started a YouTube video, called '10 things the Avengers did no one knows about'. She was 17 and while not a huge fan as she used to be, every once in a while she watched or read up on Earth's mightiest heroes. But not even 5 minutes into the video, something weird happened. Some sort of... golden dust drifted into her room. She stared in a daze as the dust seemed to move with purpose. It drifted around her room until it reached... her stone orb. She found it an odd year ago and had gotten quite attached to it. With a frown, she stood up to wave the dust away when she stopped and stared in awe. The dust seemed to... enter the orb. As if the little stone was absorbing it. And the pebble was changing too, she belatedly realized. It was becoming whiter an... squishier? She stumbled back with a suppressed yelp -luckily her parents weren't home- when she knew what it was turning into. Because when all the dust was absorbed, it was an eye that was staring back at her from her shelf. And staring it was. It was turning around on its own and looking straight at her, its golden pupil searing her soul. This awkward stalemate lasted only for a few seconds. The moment Revna tried to make a run for the door, the eye acted as well. It shot a beam of golden dust, brighter and shinier than before, at her. It hit her square in her right eye and her movements stopped. But not by choice. She was frozen in the air, unable to move. All she could do was watch as the eye slowly dissolved into the sparkly substance and entered her eye. And it hurt . If she could scream, she would have. She would've screamed 'till her voice was hoarse. Then, as suddenly as it happened, it stopped. Frozen no longer, she sagged down on the floor. The eye was gone. And she knew her own eye was no longer blue, but a bright golden.

—--

Revna

Gritting her teeth, Revna frantically paged through one of the books in front of her. After the whole eye-thing a few hours ago, she'd passed out on the floor. When she woke up, her whole body ached. Her muscles, joints. It felt like even her bones themselves hurt. Otherwise, she didn't feel -or look- any different. Apart from, of course, the new, almost glowing, golden eye in her right socket. She'd covered it up with a medical eyepatch for now, but that was just a makeshift solution. Before any more changes happened, she needed to reverse whatever happened to her. But to do that, she first needed to understand what it was that happened to her. So here she was, in the library, not finding even a single clue on what she went through. Google proved useless as well. 'Golden dust', 'golden wind' and 'golden eye' lead to nothing. With a growl, she slammed her book shut. Those painkillers she took weren't even helping in the slightest! With a groan, she stood up and started to stumble her way home. With all the adrenaline and excitement having cooled down, the confusion and desperation finally set in. Her legs buckled and she sank down to her knees. Tears lined her eyes. Why is this happening to me? What did I do to deserve this? She had no clue about any of it. All she could do right now was hope this pain didn't worsen and nothing else happened. So she got up and finished her walk home, where she collapsed on her bed.

2 weeks later

Revna

Rev kicked a stone as she walked with her hands in her pockets, trying to ignore the ever-present, dull pain in her body. Today was a good day, as in, it was mostly a dull aching. It had been nearly two weeks since her breakdown on the streets. She'd managed to avoid school by convincing her parents she was in pain, which she very much was, but she needed to get away from the house and the town itself. Because she realized something was happening to her, other than her newfound ability for pain. Her senses had gotten better. Not by much, mind you, but noticeable compared to before. She could see further, and in more detail. Her hearing was sharper, her taste better. And the smells. Wow. She had never realized how much a city could stink.

She kicked another pebble. In two days, she'd have to return to school. I don't know if I can manage a bad day there. In a sudden urge to be free and roam, she started to run. Slowly at first, but faster and faster until she reached a dead sprint. She enjoyed the wind in her hair and... and she wasn't getting tired as fast as she should. Even stranger, she felt like she could go faster! Which she tried. It wasn't much, but she knew her body and its limits. And this was definitely new. But in her excitement, she tripped on a tree root. Losing her balance, she expected to hit the dirt face first any moment. Instead, she moved instinctively and put her hands on the group, making a few perfect flips until landing steadily. Stunned, she looked in awe at her own hands. Then, she grinned.

"What else might I be able to do?"

she mumbled to herself. She took a running start and jumped up as high as she could. And again. And again. And each time she came higher. Revna was now panting, and realized something. What was first a dull aching, was now a much more significant pain. Manageable, but still worse! Deciding to go back, she hadn't taken two steps before she froze, and then fell to the ground, screaming.

Hellish pain consumed her, until there was nothing left in her world but pain. She didn't know how long it went on, but it felt like forever. Eventually, the pain subsided and she lay there, panting, covered in cold sweat. The still manageable but painful aching was back, now of course even worse. She stood up shakily and noticed that, in her pain, she'd grabbed onto a thick, strong branch. One she'd crushed with one hand. Indeed, her hand was full of splinters. Quickly removing them, she found a tree with a perfect spot and took a punching stance. Thanks to her years at jiu-jitsu, she at least knew how to punch properly. With all the strength she had left, she swung at the tree. And upon inspection, the tree was ever so little dented. She winced. Her knuckles were definitely bruised. Why'd you have to punch a tree? She started the painstakingly long track home and two hours later -she'd walked and ran a bit further than she thought- she was back home. Her hand, however, was barely bruised at all, and all her splinters were well on the way of healing as if they were days old. Revna frowned, deep in thought. She still had no idea what happened to her, but this brought her a little closer to knowing what was happening to her. She opened the door and went inside, unaware of the two ravens that had been watching her every move for the past two weeks.

3 months later

Revna

Rev was incessantly tapping her pencil on her desk. She'd tried to keep her mind on class, but her thoughts kept wandering to her recent changes. In the three months since her 'change', she'd noticed several things. For one, she kept improving. It seemed a slow but steady process as she kept getting stronger, faster and sturdier. Among others. And it didn't seem like it was stopping any time soon. Second, the pain was (among others) influenced by her energy and activity. She found that out after one particularly harsh jiu-jitsu training. The pain was nigh unbearable and she'd collapsed into what she called an 'episode' the moment she came home. Those episodes were the moments the pain took over. The worst part was that they came without warning. One time, she was in class when one struck. She'd run to the bathroom and rode it out in a stall, while biting on her arm to not make a sound. She'd bitten deep enough to draw blood. Finally, the last thing. Which was the trickiest to deal with.

"-ial. Earth to Miss Belial."

Revna snapped up.

"Sorry, Mr. Scherper. I was, uhm, lost in thought,"

she mumbled. The chemistry teacher sighted.

"As I was saying, perhaps you want to come here and solve this formula?"

He gestured to the whiteboard behind him. She stood up and walked over to the front of the class. A part of her told her not to accept the orders from this human man, but she grabbed the marker and solved the equation without batting an eye. Speaking of, she kept wearing a medical eyepatch to cover up her newfound heterochromia. She told everyone it was because of an eye inflammation, which was also why she missed two weeks of school. She sat down in her seat. This was point three. She sucked at chemistry. Yet she could nail it after her change. She just knew it somehow. And not just chemistry. Math, biology, languages. She just knew all of it. Not to mention her mental outburst, like just now at her teacher. This confused her the most. Revna looked at the clock and quickly covered her ears. The bell rang and nearly caused her a headache. Cursed enhanced hearing. She hurried out of class and into the woods, not seeing the weird and suspicious look she received from her best friend.

—--

Revna

Revna chuckled slightly as she was walking her regular route through the forest. It was funny how much time she'd spend in the woods, now that the city was hardly an option. Not just because of the sensations the town brought with it, but also the people in it. She was afraid. No matter how gradually her strength increased, it was hard to get used to. The amount of cutlery she'd crumpled in these last three months was concerning, to say the least. And as her power grew, so did the gap between her and everyone else. She feared she would react to something, and would hurt someone in the process. It made her realize how fragile objects -and humans- were. The thought made her stiffen. Am I still human? After all these changes, no matter their origin? She supposed not. It made her sad. She loved the woods, these days even more than before, and being alone, but there were limits. Rev was growing lonely. Then, she caught something from the corner of her eye. It was fast. She would've missed it, had her reflexes not been elevated as well. She turned, finding a raven looking at her. She cocked her head, and the raven copied her movements before flying down, perching on a close-bye branch next to another raven. She didn't quite know why, but she approached them. They seemed like ordinary ravens at first sight, but something felt... off. Almost like she was supposed to know these birds. When she was close enough to touch them, she noticed their eyes. Golden, like her new one. She stared into them and…

She was sitting on a throne in a great, golden hall, which was completely empty. With a great spear in her right hand, her left hand lifted to allow a raven to perch on it. A raven with golden eyes. It stared at her, and she stared back.

Revna fell backwards with a shout. Bewildered, she looked around.

"What- What happened? I was here... and-and then I wasn't..."

Her eyes fell on the pair of ravens.

"You! You were there!"

Suddenly, she stiffened, coming to a realization. A pair of ravens, with golden eyes. Golden eyes, like hers, but she only had one. A great golden hall, which couldn't possibly be Earth. Her eyes widened. If Thor and Loki were real, then their father... She recalled what she read years ago. An old god of knowledge, with a pair of ravens and only one eye.

"Odin..."

she whispered. The name sent a jolt down her spine. She could've sworn even the wind fell silent for a moment. Whatever is happening to me, it is closely related to Odin, she realized. She looked back at the ravens. She pointed at the one she'd stared at earlier.

"Muninn,"

she said, then pointed at the other.

"And Huginn. The Ravens of Odin. Why are you... here?"

One of the ravens let out a caw, but somehow, Revna understood.

"You are here for... me? To... wait for me to... notice you? So you can help me?"

She fell to her knees. She let out a laugh, but it came out as a sob. Soon, her shoulders trembled as she cried openly for the first time in three months. I am not alone. I have help. She wiped her eyes and stood up; trembling, but smiling. I might finally get some answers! She held up her arm and one of the ravens hopped on it. The other went to her shoulder.

"You guys can come with me. I think it's time we talked."

3 months later

Revna

Revna was once again walking through the woods, in anguish, but also glad. The last three months had been crazy, but now, she'd graduated at last! In fact, that happened yesterday, on Friday. She'd celebrated with Nora all day. The reason she was in pain was because today was a bad day. Her whole body felt like it was groaning. But Huginn had mentioned that she'd have to be able to move nonetheless, and this would be a great starting practice. The thought of the raven on her shoulder made her smile. The last months had been less lonely, thanks to the company of the pair. While they couldn't tell her what was happening to her, or why, they did know what to expect, considering her current changes.

She chuckled. Usually, at least one of the ravens accompanied her. The other would be flying around town, 'keeping an eye on things', or so they said.

"Dunno why you guys insist on doing that. There's nothing to keep an eye on."

Huginn cawed in response.

'You don't know that.'

"Yes, I do in fact. What could possibly happen here?"

Suddenly, the bushes rustled and out stepped Nora, hands shaking. In those shaking hands was a gun, pointed at her. Huginn flew up. Rev knew they were no fighters. He would only bother if it came to one.

"W-What are you, and what have you done with Rev, you monster?!"

the shaking girl demanded. Revna held up her hands, palms up, to try and calm her.

"Nor, it's just me, Rev. What are you talking about?"

she said in a shushing tone.

"N-No, that's not true!"

she screamed, but lowered the gun.

"This last half year, you've been different. You've changed. You've been acting weird, ever since then! Sneaking into the woods, avoiding the city, talking with those ravens."

She gestured to her.

"Ever since you started wearing that eyepatch... AH!"

The moment she said it, Nora realized her friend - was she still her friend?- hadn't been wearing it. And the golden eye beneath it almost seemed to glow! She raised the gun again.

"I knew it! What did you do?! What did you become?!"

Revna watched with disbelief. She's been… been watching me?! With every word, her temperament grew. Until, at her last words, it burst.

"YOU THINK I WANTED THIS TO HAPPEN!?"

She screamed at the girl with the gun.

"FOR MY BODY TO CHANGE, WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT WOULD HAPPEN, OR EVEN WHY?!"

she continued, angry but also sad.

"I am in pain non-stop, 24/7. I have to make sure I don't crush objects by gripping them too tightly. And I don't even know why!"

Her legs gave out, unable to support her.

"Please... Please understand."

Nora dropped the gun, gasping at herself. She ran over and hugged the kneeling girl tightly.

"I'm sorry. I-I didn't know. I was just... confused."

She looked at the dark-haired girl.

"I just want to help. How can I help?"

Rev took a deep breath. The secret is out. Finally. It feels good for someone to know. The moment she intended to speak, a jolt of pain ran through her. For a moment, she feared an episode, but it was confined in her right eye. She clutched it, and her vision changed suddenly.

She was seeing the city from a bird-eye view. It focused on the library, which was in ruins! And the cause was... snakes. But huge, easily the size of large dogs. The police were at the scene, but they were occupied by... their boss, she guessed. It was humongous! It was bigger than the police cars, their guns merely annoying it and making it angry.

She was back before she knew it, gasping for air. Before Nora could speak, she was on her feet.

"The library is under attack! Hold on tight!"

She picked her friend up, bridal style, and ran off, Huginn already showing her the way. In her six months of changing and growing stronger, carrying a girl her age was fairly easy. The pain in her body slowed her down, though. Revna thought frantically. I have to stop those monsters! Not the library! I will stop them from destroying that place completely!

—--

Revna

Rev stopped at the edge of the woods. She was panting, dripping with sweat and gritting her teeth against the pain that was increasing a lot. This is not an ideal condition to fight. She turned to Nora.

"Go. Quickly. Get somewhere safe."

The girl looked bewildered.

"But... what about you? You're not thinking about fighting whatever is attacking the library, are you?"

Rev smiled slightly.

"I am, and I will."

Nora made to protest, but then chuckled.

"That is so like you, you know? You've always fought for what's precious to you. Whether it's bullies or-"

she gestured to the town.

"-monsters."

She smiled.

"I guess it really is still you. But you better come back in one piece! We have a lot to talk about."

Revna nodded and grabbed a sturdy branch.

"I'll be back before you know it."

Then, she ran. She had no plan, nothing but the desire to protect the library. Her mind was focused on the fight, but she lamented she had no armor whatsoever. It would complicate things. She stopped and crouched down, clutching her weapon. She arrived. Huginn flew overhead and she tried something new. She reached out for him, mentally, and tried to induce that same vision-sharing she did before. Her vision changed and she found herself sharing Huginn's eyes. One wall of the library had all but collapsed, two of the dog-seized snakes searching for something. She guessed the third and final smaller one was either deeper inside, or at the street side, with the big one. She sighted and returned to her body. The moment she wanted to jump out of cover, a bright light hit her, descending from nowhere. It lasted only a second, but when she saw it again, she was stunned. Armor covered almost her entire body. Her torso was covered with a dark golden cuirass, her arms with many, tiny metal scales, moving smoothly when she moved. Metal greaves covered her shins and upper legs, everything else was protected by thick leather. She smiled. Now, she was ready.

Revna moved quick, dashing from cover to cover. Despite her new armor, she moved quietly. She gave a new look at her armor. It felt really light, despite also feeling sturdy. But then, her first target came into view. A snake, one bigger than she'd ever laid eyes on. She'd seen them from Huginn's point of view, but that was different. It was as thick as a dog, with appropriate length to boot. Without hesitating, Revna climbed to a highpoint and from there, jumped down, right at the serpent. It noticed her mid-air, but by then it was too late. Lifting up it's huge head and trying to open it's mouth, showing it's hand-seized fangs, didn't work. She landed feet first on its neck, grabbed one fang and it's lower jaw and pulled. With a terrible crunch, bones snapped and the snake went slack. However, instead of leaving a corpse, the moment it died it turned to ash, leaving nothing behind. Not that she had time to contemplate this phenomenon. The second snake had coiled up and was flying at her, aiming for her head. In a moment of extreme hand-eye coordination, she swung her branch as hard as she could, smacking the snake in the head, sending it flying to the other side of the busted open room. The wooden stick itself shattered from the force. Frantically, she searched for a new weapon. The element of surprise was gone, and she needed something. She wasn't strong enough to defeat these things bare-handed. Her eye caught a glimmer of metal and she pulled out an iron pipe, a little taller than she was with a somewhat sharp point. She recalled the golden spear in her flashback a few months back. It was a far cry from a real weapon, but it's shape felt comfortable. Familiar, almost.

Small grunt

The snake gave her no time. It dashed at her again, launching itself in the air once again.

Revna

Revna turned around, using the lower end of her 'spear' to slam the snake into the ground. She gave a small grunt from the force. She nearly stiffened from the pain but managed to twirl her weapon around, impaling it into the wooden floorboards from the library. This one, too, turned to ashes. Two down, two to go, she thought grimly. Using her 'spear' as a walking stick, she limped towards the front of the building. The biggest snake was still occupied by the police. It was bleeding from multiple bullet wounds, roaring in pain and anger. The police, however, were far worse for the wear. Only one car was still on all four wheels, two officers hiding behind it, shaking in fear. All their colleagues were either dead or dying. Trying to be stealthy, Revna sneaked around the corner to come up behind the monster. Her body got the better of her, however. In her pain, she stumbled, causing debris to scatter. The monster turned crazy fast and slammed its tail into her side, sending her flying. It's fast! She flew into an upside-down car, denting it deeply. She coughed up blood. I definitely broke a few ribs. Better finish this fast. She stumbled to her feet, gripping her spear. An idea came to her, and she turned to the car. Bringing down her spear a few times, she tore off a door that was already loose. Holding her makeshift shield, she charged, yelling a battle cry.

Medium grunt

The snake eyed the human it flung into the vehicle. Despite the fact that the human was weak, the snake definitely felt the aura from the Allfather from her. This is the one we need! It hissed and made to charge, before feeling those stings from earlier. The last two humans were firing their weapons, shooting those hurtful projectiles. It was only momentarily distracted, but it was enough.

Revna

Charging at the snake, Revna saw the two policemen distracting the beast. They must've realized I am their best shot at taking it down, she thought. It didn't work for long, though. Soon, it returned its attention to her. It slammed its tail into her side, but this time, it was protected by her shield. She shouted but clenched her fists and held on. Using its tail, she jumped up and ran toward its head. Its eyes narrowed and it opened its mouth, spraying a venomous, toxic liquid towards her. Holding up her shield, none of it hit her, but the metal door started to melt! She flung it away, gripping her spear with both hands. Pain coursed through her, but she jumped one last time, nearly doubling her own height. With a powerful shout, she brought down her spear. It hit home, driving through its upper jaw straight through its lower jaw, impaling its head. Together, they fell down, the snake dissolving mid air. Revna hit the ground hard. Clutching the arm on which she landed, she tried to rise to her feet, but couldn't. On her knees, she looked around, vision blurry. Everything hurt so much. She saw a person running towards her, yelling her name.

"Nora..."

she mumbled. Why is she here? She should be away. Her thoughts were cloudy, slow. Which is why she was late to notice the last snake, the smallest of the four, aiming for her friend!

"NO!"

she screamed, slinging the spear in its direction. The impact flung the monster away, turning it to ash even before the pipe hit the ground. But the damage was done. A tiny scratch from the monster's fangs could be seen on Nora's arm, but Revna knew these things were venomous. Even the smallest amount was deadly to humans. She crawled toward where her friend had fallen down, ignoring all her pain.

"Nora..."

she mumbled when she reached her friend. Revna pulled her into her arms, despite her body screaming out. There was no peace on Nora's face in her last moments, only fear and pain. But she tried to smile nonetheless.

New York

Laurie

An 11 year old brown-haired girl was at the moment having trouble doing the class' morning assignment, her being way behind everyone else, she could see it as they all concentrated and she was just staring hopelessly at her paper. She hoped no one would notice her self-conscious and worried self at her table. Soon enough, the teacher came around, seeing little Laurie having problems with her task. The girl flinched startled at first, but the teacher smiled at her with reassurance. When Laurie let her guard down more, the teacher pointed at the paper and whispered to her a different method to figure out the answers to the questions she was stuck at. Her eyes slowly widened as the teacher explained, looking back down at the paper before grabbing her pencil again. Now, she was writing non stop. It made sense now, they all seemed like the same problem. It only took a minute or so, before the young girl turned back to the front page and put her pencil back on the table, the first student in class to finish. A few kids who acknowledged the sound of the pencil tapping as she dropped it, had looks of surprise on their faces. How could she be done already?! They were only halfway! The teacher had a pair of raised brows as well, straightening back up and smiling down at the little scholar.

"Nice work, Laurie."

She congratulated her, the young lass feeling a sense of almost disbelief with how proud she felt of herself. Wow... I just did that, she thought to herself, a little smile spreading to her cheeks.

6 months later

Woods outside New York

Revna

Revna looked around, counting all the Serpentians -as she called them- in the clearing. 7 small ones. This should be doable, she thought. A lot had happened in the past 6 months. After Nora died, she realized this was on her. The biggest snake had focused on her, the moment she showed up. That was no coincidence. So she left. Traveling down Norway, through Denmark and Germany until she reached France. She was surprised by how far she got. When hitchhiking didn't work, she ran. And with supernatural stamina and speed, she got pretty far. This also meant she was really fit. Not bodybuilder style, but enough to showcase her biceps and abs clearly. She liked it. Both her new look, and the roaming around. Something inside her felt very pleased by her wandering. The downside, of course, was the Serpentians. They followed her, and always found her. They came in three sizes: small, medium and large. It was in France when the disaster happened. Three medium ones had come together. She bested them, but a lot of people died. The worst part? Revna didn't feel as bad as she should've. At that moment, she thought of them as 'collateral damage'. That wasn't like her. It terrified her. So she booked the first plane to the US, landing in Boston. From there, she traveled south, until she arrived here, near New York City. HQ of the Avengers, who, she hoped, had some answers for her. But now she was here, ambushed by her foes. She worried not, however. She was not the same person who had fought her first battle half a year ago. She picked up her weapon -a real spear, bought from a hunting store- and blitzed forward. One slice, and a snake fell, cut in half. Two more jumped at her, but she crouched low to dodge one and kicked the other, sending it flying. A fourth dashed at her back, but she twirled and caught him, tearing his jaws apart. The five left grouped together and Revna fell in a fighting stance when something odd happened.

Suddenly, all the snakes were writhing and screeching. A thing she found out a few months in was that the monsters spoke. It's how she knew there was someone who was sending these things, hunting her. But in the cacophony, she heard two words: 'dead' and 'siblings'. Out of nowhere, the Serpentians turned to ash, all at once. It unsettled Rev. Something was going on, and she had no idea what. No way to prepare, all she could do was wait. So she packed her stuff and moved on. One week later, it happened. She was just relaxing, backpack and spear against a tree when she started to disappear. First her feet, her legs, her hands and arms. It happened within seconds. Fucking hell. What is it now?! were her last thoughts before she vanished, leaving only her spear and backpack.
