Here we go, the final random pairing fic. It's been a fun week, let's try to end on a high note. Enjoy!

She had to make sure that none of their friends noticed… or anyone else, for that matter. If she was caught sneaking about like this, she would be in so much trouble. Again.

The staff at Naranja Academy took trespassers very seriously, it turned out.

Luckily, it was still pretty early in the morning, so Dawn didn't have to worry about running into too many students milling about the grounds, and most of the teachers were in the process of prepping for their classes for the day. Thus, the grounds were fairly devoid of people, save for the occasional early bird that Dawn had to dive into the shrubbery to avoid.

She had snuck through the headquarters of Team Galactic twice, she could sneak around a school no sweat!

Her destination was in sight. The window of the upper floor dorm room that belonged to Nemona, the battle-crazy Champion Trainer of Paldea. Who also happened to be her girlfriend of three months now.

And what a whirlwind three months they had been!

Crouching low, Dawn reached for the ball at her side and, wincing a little at the sound, released her Glaceon.

Dawn gave her beloved icy partner a good-morning head pat, then whispered to her in a low voice.

"OK girl, you know the drill. Gimme a snowball!"

It was such an ingenious idea. Snow melted pretty quickly under the Paldean sun, so it left no trace like a thrown stone or other projectile would, nor did a snowball make a particularly loud noise hitting a glass window. Plus, it was something of a personal calling card. Nemona always knew it was Dawn getting her attention when she saw and heard the fluffy white snow impacting her window.

Rearing back, Dawn took aim and let the snowball fly.

At that exact same moment, the window she was aiming at opened up, and Nemona leaned out to wave at her.

Dawn watched in mortified horror as Nemona was struck square in the face by an early-morning snowball attack and sent tumbling backwards into her room with a cry of surprise.

That… hadn't gone exactly to plan.

Nemona had been so happy and excited to see her girlfriend standing outside her dorm that she had thrown open her window without a care in the world, totally forgetting in her giddiness about the incoming snow.

"Bwaa!?" she cried out, tripping over her rug as she back-peddled in shock and landed on her back in the floor.

Any lingering early-morning drowsiness was now well and truly gone as she stared up at her ceiling with clumps of snow in her hair.

"Sorry!" she heard Dawn whisper-shout from outside. "Are you OK?"

Nemona snorted, then started laughing hard, clutching her stomach as she tried and failed to sit back up, her laughing fit rendering her unable to right herself for the moment.

Still, she should probably reassure her girlfriend that she hadn't hit her head or anything. So, once she had managed to somewhat get her giggles back under control, Nemona stood up, brushed some of the snow from her brow, and returned to the window to give Dawn a smile and a wave.

"Buenos días, hermosa!" she whisper-shouted back. "I'll be right down!"

With Dawn suitably reassured, Nemona quickly turned back to grab her stuff, fixed her arm brace into place, double-checked that she had her team at her side, then clambered out of the open window and dropped down into the bushes below.

"Figures that a snowball wouldn't be enough to take you down," Dawn said teasingly, giving her a light shove as she emerged from the foliage.

"You're gonna have to try harder than that," Nemona shot back with a grin. "So are we heading out or what?"

Dawn rolled her eyes, but she was smiling as well as she took Nemona's hand and began to lead her off.

"What would your classmates think if they saw their Student Council President sneaking around like this?"

"Well, I guess you're a bad influence on me," Nemona replied.

Dawn mock-gasped. "Such a bold accusation, Champion Nemona! Are you insinuating that I, Dawn, Champion of Sinnoh, am such an outlaw?"

They both descended into more giggles as they continued on, eventually getting far enough away from the Academy to no longer have to whisper to each other. They could talk normally now, and not have to worry about being spotted.

Florian, Penny, Arven… Nemona doubted that any of them would actually rat her out if they spotted her breaking morning curfew like this, but the same could not be said for anyone else. And besides, she didn't want to have to ask her friends to lie for her. So for now, this was something on the down-low.

Somehow though, it made this feel all the more exciting.

Dawn continued to lead the way, Nemona's hand in hers.

"So, where are we going?" she asked her.

"You'll see," Dawn replied coyly. "We're almost there."

"The beach is this way," Nemona mused.

"Yes it is," Dawn agreed.

"So we're going to the beach?"

"In a way."

Nemona pouted a little. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Dawn supressed the urge to squee at the adorable sight of her taller girlfriend pouting at her, and opted to keep quiet. Her reaction was going to be so worth it… she hoped.

As they reached the edge of the walkway leading to the beach proper, Dawn let go of Nemona's hand to jump down onto the sand, then offered her hand again to help Nemona down with her.

"It's just up ahead," she clarified, pointing to her surprise in the distance. "Let's go!"

She resumed leading the way, smiling at how excited Nemona looked.

Dawn knew what Nemona liked on a date. Flowers and chocolates and a picnic blanket… that wasn't Nemona's style. Or hers, really. No, they weren't a flowers and poetry couple. They were a bit different.

Different, but romantic nonetheless. In their own way.

"Here we are!" Dawn announced, letting go of Nemona's hand and gesturing to the set-up in front of them with a flourish.

I'm so glad it didn't get swept away.

Nemona gasped, clasped her hands together in front of her, and stared with wide eyes at the sight in front of her.

"Oh, Dawn! It's great!"

Dawn smiled proudly, then took up position at the far end of the battle field she had set up in the sand.

"Ready, Champion?" she asked, Pokéball at the ready.

Nemona took up her position at the other end and readied her own Pokéball.

"As if you need to ask!"

Dawn sent out her first Pokémon, and Nemona did likewise.

Yep. Unconventional to a tee.

But that was just how they liked it.

Hello all! Not Scot here, and we have reached the end of Valentines Randomness Week! Seven days, seven sets of random prompts, and seven fics of varying quality to show for it!

It's been an interesting little challenge, to say the least. And it's been refreshing to try something new for a while as well. To everyone who has followed along this week, thank-you very much, and I hope you had as much fun as I did! A special thanks to those of you who left comments/reviews as well! Always a nice thing to see when I check my emails the following morning.

But now that we're done here, it's back to work on my other stuff. 'RWBY Re:Mixed' Volume 3 is on the way, as is another instalment of 'Family'. I also have some ideas for a sequel to 'Hexside School's Roll of Dishonour' that I'm gonna start putting into words soon, and I have been drawing up plans for a few other things as well in the background. I'll have more to share about those later on down the line.

I need to be up early tomorrow though, so for now, I shall take my leave.

Until next time,

Not Scot.

P.S: While I'm happy with all seven fics from this week, I think I'm most proud of how the first one turned out. Silver x N is not a pair I've ever thought of before, but it wound up making so much sense as I was writing it.

P.P.S: Yes, I'm aware that the geography of Mesagoza makes the setup of this fic make no sense, but the prompt I got given was a tricky one, so I decided to warp the layout of the area a bit to make it work.
