"You don't need to say anything."

Souta opened his mouth then clamped it shut as soon as he registered the words, "N-no, I get it," He finally replied after a moment of silence, "I know I was your priority, Nee-chan."

But

The unspoken rebuttal was heard loud and clear.

"I know you're worried about your friend," Kagome said calmly, "That situation was too risky. I don't know what those… Jujutsu Sorcerers are capable of."

"Ha," Souta let out a shaky little laugh, "So you really don't know everything," He sighed heavily, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get into trouble."

Kagome patted Souta's shoulder in a gesture of comfort, "You're certainly following in my footsteps," She smiled some, "Just don't walk headfirst into trouble like I used to."

"Used to?" Souta grinned back, "You still do, Nee-chan," He shrugged when she threw him a deadpan stare and he began to glance around at the unfamiliar surroundings, "Where are we?"

"Creating a portal to the Makai takes far too long to do without the specific ability," Kagome answered, "This is the Reikai. I have special permission to come here when I need to."

"Seriously?!" Souta gasped, looking around with amazed eyes, "We won't get into trouble?"

"With the situation we were in? No, probably not," Kagome glanced up when a figure swiftly appeared out of their own portal, "The Reikai should have information I will need."

"Kagome-sama," The Shinigami in a pitch-black kimono bowed, "I came as soon as I noticed your presence," She stated, looking upwards from her position, "You may have come without notice, but I'm sure either Enma-sama or Koenma-sama would happily see to you."

"There's no need for that, Ayame," Kagome shook her head quickly, "I didn't exactly expect to end up here today," She eyed the black-haired Shinigami with an almost bashful expression, "Though I will request some information if it's not too much trouble."

"Of course, Kagome-sama," Ayame nodded, "Would you like for one of the Oni assistants to look in the archives for you or would you prefer to look yourself?"

"I'd like to look myself, but I feel a little bad for suddenly dropping in like this," Kagome sighed, looking at Souta out of the corner of her eyes, "Plus I brought an unauthorized guest. I think it's best if we leave quickly before we interrupt anything."

"As you wish, Kagome-sama," Ayame bowed again, "Please notify the assistant Oni what information you wish for through your usual means."

"It's probably too much to ask for discretion, isn't it?" Kagome rubbed her hair as Ayame prepared a portal back to the Ningenkai for them.

"I apologize," Ayame closed her eyes in sincerity, "But should any of the Lords of either the Reikai or the Makai inquire, I cannot keep your visit here today a secret."

"I know, I know," Kagome let out a breath, gesturing for Souta to walk through the portal, "Thank you anyway, Ayame."

It should have figured.

"Why do you wanna know?"

Gojo held up his hands in peace, smiling at the suspicion heard in Itadori's voice, "Just curious, ya know? You must be too, after seeing what your friend could do back there," He observed the bound boy intently, "Besides, I'm sure Sukuna in there already sees and knows. We don't want him to have an advantage."

His words swiftly worked as Itadori tightened his lips and gave what he asked for, "I've only known Souta since the beginning of the school year, so not long," He admitted, "I like how he feels, if that isn't too weird to say," He tilted his head thoughtfully, "He feels, I dunno, peaceful?" He shrugged, "Never met his sister though, so I couldn't tell you anything about her," He eyed Gojo's relaxed form sitting across from him, "Is Souta okay?"

He had better be.
