Eragon A New Hope

Disclaimer: Not a good writer as I would hope I could be. Also might notice I will be possibly doing something similar to another series called Bloodkin. Besides that Inheritance characters are not mine.
But will fanfic them best I can.

Chapter 5
**********************************************************************

The next morning was a rather upsetting wake up… Jack waking up would look to the grey scales before him and sigh, He hoped it was a dream. But no… the bruising and the heavy heart was still there… And as the sorrow swept in, another swept out the sorrow.

It is okay little one. Lien spoke and she sounded somber herself having bathed herself in the memories and sure she was a dragon. And sire and dame was not as important as for humans. But Lien did her best to understand human nature so Lien was doing her best to comfort Jack. He smiled and pet her side.

Thanks. He said and just sighed as he sat up she let her wing drap over him a bit longer till she raised her wing a few pots of stew were started up… With so many riders they needed enough to feed well… 3… 2… 2… seven riders? And Brom himself so they had plenty of food cooking up. Brom muttering under his breath about feeling like a maid.

But looked as the riders each were stirring from their sleep and some dragons being different with each… Of course only the brothers having any level of understanding what Jack was going through. Ayra being up before everyone else probably thanks to her being an elf and having only resting … stasis as she explained.

It was at this point the talking was going over what was next… The day was long, hard, and they had to get things together to get ready… not to mention get out of the way as someone was likely to come and investigate the now destoryed farm.

That said it started with Eragon griping about being beat head to toe.
"If I didn't think you could handle it, it would be so. But doing so would also put you in danger, our enemies will not be easy on you. Nor can I slouch or let you slip by in training. If you want to save your uncle. Or have your vengance." Brom said pointing to Jack. "You need strength and experience. Neither of which will be spoon fed to you."

"But we must become riders… I would like to have training in that matter and you are the only one to do that." Ayra said as Nasauda was nodding to this agreeing to it. "We must for our father's sake." Roran added. Jack shook a bit but did his best to swallow the anger and sorrow back. "and… what of riding our dragons? T… their scales are a bit sharp for us to ride bare back."

Brom brushed his beard. "Arya sorry to ask, watch the food." He said as he would go to his pack and took a bit but pulled out a rather large bundle of leather… Somethign that suggested it was exactly for this reason. "I was planing to make boots out of this." He said.

Jack shook his head, "Boots… As in a boot line? That is more than enough leather for a dozen boots, or a few dragon saddles." He said easily picking up that this was not just for boots or an entire collection of boots. Brom chuckled knowing that Jack was not easily fooled and the others following Jack's thought line did understand that brom having nearly two dozen deer skins suggested he had been preparing for this day. Wither he knew of the dragons before now… Or if he had only been preparing since it sounded like the two girls were here cause of him.

Brom went through showing each of them how to make the saddle going over how to make the different measurements and from there cutting many pieces of leather before weaving the pieces into somewhat nice craftmanship saddles. Brom was hard at work and with so many saddles to build and make and the riders having to try and look at the other saddle to try and finish their saddle… incidentally Eragon and Murtagh and even Ayra nearly sew their saddles together pulling from one another only to blush at the fact that they messed up. Brom having to unsew the saddles and make sure they had the parts before helping one of them…

By the time the sun was going down there were 7 saddles laying out on the ground… Now to fit them onto the dragons… Saphira stood ready. Thorn a bit mischevious about it… Firnen giving his best to be like Saphira… it was easier to fit the saddles onto the dragons that were standing steady and ready for them while the more… Mischevious ones took longer… but after another hour and the party feeling exhausted afterwards would be wondering if they would get on the road… Eragon and Murtagh worried they might be found by the village at this point… Not to mention Roran along with the other two brothers were worried about having wasted a day… Well they couldn't help it.

"What about Ayra, the instant we enter a town she would be seen as well she is." Roran said taking in her looks now. Sure it wasn't like eragon who was a bit dreamy eyed over her… But being roused from it did realizing ears turning red that it was true.

"I can hide my looks with a few simple spells. It is the few that my brother taught me so that I could hide among humans if we had to." She said as Brom had seen how far her training was… and that she had barely started getting any elvish training namely cause of her mother neglecting her.

And again was the sticks going to each of the riders… though Jack would look at his own a bit sad it was still the same thing… He sighed as he didn't have any desire surprisingly to wield a large cross guarded sword… Looking to his katana blades that he had made in the forge over then last 3 months. He would decide to find a second long stick and start working on the sticks to be able to have what he wanted… A thinner top and a smaller cross guard more on par with his small hilt on one side. A sword catcher as one might call it. More less going for what he had been practicing with after his crafting.

First off when it came his turn. Brom was looking at him using two weapons. "Just cause you have more swords doesn't mean you will have more strength in battle boy. Both arms have to be just as strong." Brom said before comign in however that was what the case was… being a smith and use to banging on metal crafting his katanas. Both arms were worked out so in this he was having to learn how to use the weapons he crafted.

Sure swinging them at the air was good for gaing confidence however this… as their sticks met, was a different feelign not to mention Jack had to keep on modifying and learning his fencing skill… Much different than the others… Ayra was more a slasher than stabber… Eragon had more a quick and stab style… Murtagh was a mix… Roran was… for more intents and purposes using a club like movement. Which Brom harped on during their fight…

Nasauda had more the normal swordsmanship though it was to be expected being the daughter of a rebel leader meant she had to know and learn the skills too meaning her skills were the best out of all of them even Ayra namely cause of Ayra's neglected training.

Jack was much different with his dual sword use and how he was swinging more in attack than defence trying his best to dodge strikes… however Brom did see what he was trying to do. "Boy you have to defend yourself regardless of the weapon you use. At least use both swords in defense." He commanded and Jack worked this out and was able to use both to start pushing aside the strikes or else deflect them as he learned this he got hit much less… though it was more a stalemate cause even with two weapons Jack had to learn not to over extend… Upgraded sure, but Jack wasn't more than the more athletic man at the moment. Sure he had a few implants of armor to help him… But it wasn't full protection or otherwise.

Their battle stopped when both sides were sweating.. Jack more than Brom. Then it was again time to sleep… The other riders had varying levels of slamming themselves into the sleeping roll, but Jack probably was the lightest aside from Ayra and Nasauda. Lien grinning as she chuckled. The weird grinning and growling. Jack huffed. "Glad to be amusing." He said not fully bothered by it… it was new… and obviously he had to learn and learning came with a few gallons of pain after all…
**********************************************************************

So we are at the end of this chapter… Sorry laying it on thick for Jack and the loss of his family. Garrow captured. If anyone of Jack's family is alive it is unknown, probably not since even mature it is a bit odd to go into "That".

And well someone has to feel the pain… Roran, Eragon, Murtagh feel pain but not on Jack's level and they are the closest to family he has left. As remember Jack's family was in part share cropping with Garrow's.

That said I think I will end up trailing too long on details rather than jumping ahead… They spent the day making saddles for all the dragons… So all the riders can ride. And yes Ayra has some magic, that lets her hide amoung humans besides wearing a hood. And Brom is effected by his Saphira as described in the beginning. So no I do not plan on killing the mentor. So yeah! Brom lives!

This is also cause it follows Bloodkin by Chaosshotgun… are they still around? Not sure they left off on book 4. So I guess it is over. Maybe I will get that far… or maybe not… still in book 1 and building up Jack… So yes sorry to sideline the others and make someone else the main… But that is all due to the connection with Bloodkin… But as I see… I can't rely on just connecting to that one.

So in short it means I have to write tripple the chapters once this goes in full stride.
