Chapter 8:

Dr. Fraiser looked up in surprise as Colonel Jack O'Neill entered the infirmary, a determined expression on his face. His unexpected presence in the medical wing raised eyebrows, but Dr. Fraiser greeted him with a polite nod.

"Colonel O'Neill, what brings you here?" she inquired, her tone curious yet guarded.

O'Neill flashed her a lopsided grin, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "I thought Jonas could use a change of scenery," he replied casually as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Dr. Fraiser's brow furrowed in confusion. "A change of scenery?"

"That's right," O'Neill confirmed, his grin widening. "I thought it might do him some good to get some fresh air. How about a little trip to the base's garden?"

Dr. Fraiser hesitated, her mind racing as she considered the implications of O'Neill's proposal. Taking a patient outside the confines of the infirmary was not something she did lightly, especially given Jonas's fragile condition.

But as she glanced over at Jonas, who watched the exchange with a mixture of surprise and hope in his eyes, she couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and intrigue. Perhaps a brief respite from the sterile confines of the infirmary would indeed do him some good.

With a cautious nod, Dr. Fraiser relented. "Alright, Colonel," she said, her voice tinged with apprehension. "But we'll need to take all necessary precautions to ensure Jonas's safety."

O'Neill nodded in agreement, his expression serious. "Of course, Doc," he said, his tone reassuring. "I'll make sure everything is taken care of."

With that, Dr. Fraiser and O'Neill set to work preparing Jonas for his excursion to the base's garden. They carefully disconnected the IV lines and helped him into a wheelchair, taking care to ensure that he was comfortable and secure.

As they made their way through the corridors of the base, Jonas couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building within him. The prospect of feeling the warmth of the sun on his face and the gentle breeze rustling through the trees filled him with a sense of longing he hadn't realized he'd been missing.

As they emerged into the bright sunlight of the base's garden, Jonas closed his eyes and took a deep breath, savoring the feeling of freedom and liberation that washed over him. At that moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the warmth of his friends' companionship, he knew that he was exactly where he was meant to be.
