I had been kicking myself for ONCE AGAIN going back to the drawing board for an idea of a Sonic reboot story and I still may after I complete this and I was ready to have the first author's note be written by Deadpool and have him insult me while bringing up his next movie Wolverine & Asshole (thank you to Hugh Jackman on Twitter since thanks to his 'fixed' post on the movie's title, I am strongly tempted to solely call it that from now on). Then this idea hit me and I ended up getting ideas for it. For the record consider each chapter an episode of this season and I may draw inspiration from a certain webcomic which is being adapted into the fanmade Sea3on Project that's upcoming (and got Johnny Gioeli and Chewie of Crush 40 to cover the SatAM theme for it which is AMAZING) but I have my own ideas for it which maybe surprising.
Plus I want to say for the record that when I get back to my Sonic reboot ideas after this story is completed (I may forcibly commit myself to completing this one); I just might use inspiration from The Lara-Su Chronicles: Beginnings... Yes after so long Ken Penders is close to actually bringing out the first edition of his long awaited comic series to tell the story of the characters he created for the Archie Sonic comics and managed to successfully claim ownership of thanks to the terrible record keeping at Archie Comics as well as the incompetence of their legal team. Preorders are up for this book which is mostly a reprint of his Mobius: 25 Years Later stories (don't ask me how this will work without him being sued again but I guess there might be some agreement with Sega after the whole mess of the first set of lawsuits and they just might think that it isn't worth it dragging it all back up again) and some new material. I actually have my copy preorded and yes I know all the valid criticisms of him and his work but I do genuinely want a copy as a novelty for my collection of physical Sonic comics. But off course when they do get sent out; I would have to wait longer than most people who have preordered as they would be shipped from the US and I live in Scotland. When they do get sent out then we should all look out through our windows and try and find the flying pigs.
A cliff overlooking Robotropolis as standing above it was a weak figured in a dark brown cloak with the hood up.
A rivalry for the cosmos; Sonic and Doctor Robotnik... The young wisecracking blue blur defeating the robot army of Robotnik. All boiled ahead to the Doomsday Project; supposed to be the final victory of the Doctor... Eradicate all non-organic life on planet Mobius so that his reign over the planet will be unopposed. However he was foiled and seemingly perished thanks to Sonic and Princess Sally with the power of the Deep Power Stones...
The denizens of the planet celebrates but what comes next... They have no idea...
The figure then walked away.

Robotropolis and a squadron of a group of Freedom Fighters were patrolling the area; leading them was a young sheep Mobian wielding a blaster and and behind her was a large green crocodile Mobian looking excited. "Could you calm down Vector... We have to stay silent and make sure that we don't alert any remaining SWAT Bots... The element of surprise is almost always the best weapon to use..." whispered the sheep to the crocodile sternly.
"Come on Lanolin; lighten up... We are basically just here to eliminate some mindless machines without any orders to be given... Robotnik is gone... Mobius is saved... Sonic and the Princess beat him... We won..." Vector then said as Lanolin shook her head.
"You could never be too careful and the SWAT Bots even without their leader are still dangerous; getting too cocky could lead to the end of us all..." Lanolin then replied as they went closer and saw a squadron of SWAT Bots nearby acting as patrol. "They don't look like they are on guard like the others... They look to be following a patrol pattern still... Are they still taking orders..." Lanolin pondered as Vector and the others however charged ahead using their blasters at the SWAT Bots and Vector just pulling them apart.
Lanolin pinched her nose with a sigh as she then went in and started blasting at the SWAT Bots as well. More SWAT Bots came as they were blasting them and then swooped down was a dark red robotic figure made to resemble a knight and with a cloak.
"What is that... Was Robotnik working on that..." asked a mouse Mobian as Vector then grinned.
"It doesn't matter because it will fall like its creator did... Buddy; in case you didn't get the memo... You have no master! So just surrender..." Vector retorted and then ran in to punch at the armor of the robot knight but robot then dodged his punches and then took his arm to slam him to the ground. It then took out a robotic sword as it then dodged the blasts from the Freedom Fighters as it then lunged and knocked them back.
They were being taken by the SWAT Bots as Lanolin reached for her communication device only for the robot knight to step on it as she too was taken.
Knothole Village and in the Great Forest; most of the main members of the village's group of Freedom Fighters were gathered together in a lab hut to watch as Rotor, Sonic's uncle Chuck and Tails were putting the finishing touches to the Deroboticiser. "We are done here... Tails has been a big help as a little assistant..." Chuck then said as he started putting his tools away as Tails beamed at the praise.
"You have the workings of being a mechanic or an engineer yourself Tails." Rotor then said ruffling the fur on Tails' head as Sonic and Sally then went forward and gave him a thumbs up.
"You are definitely growing up Tails; if there wasn't much left to do then you could be ready to go on field missions for the Freedom Fighters." Sally then said as Tails looked embarrassed.
"It's embarrassing with all this praise Aunt Sally." Tails then said as Sonic then went and ruffled the fur on his head himself.
"You earned it Big Guy!" Sonic then said as he and Sally then went and poured energy into the machine. "Let's hope that the leftover energy of the Deep Power Stones will make it permanent this time..." Sonic then said as everyone stepped back and Bunnie then nervously went up and took her place on top of the Deroboticiser.
The machine was put on and there was a flash; they looked and saw that Bunnie's limbs were restored. They waited and then ten minutes went by as they saw that no hint of them becoming roboticised again. Bunnie looked to her limbs and could hardly believe it as she started becoming excited and jumping up and down, everyone started cheering her on.
"Ah'm a normal bunny again! Ah can swim again if I want to..." Bunnie then cheered and then wiped away a tear on her cheek. She then went and embraced Tails and then Rotor giving them kisses on the cheek. She then went and did the same for Sonic leaving him awestruck.
"I hope that you don't forget who your girlfriend is Sonic." Sally told him teasingly with her arms folded as he grinned.
"How could I forget; Bunnie is cool and pretty but you..." Sonic then told her as they then shared a kiss as Tails looked away. They let go and and Sonic then faced Chuck. "We know that it works now Uncle Chuck. How about you go up and finally become flesh and fur again." Sonic then said excitedly as Chuck then shook his head.
"I would love to Sonic; believe me but the Worker Bots are still in Robotropolis. In this form I can lead them all back here to Knothole so that they can be restored as well. Will be a big job but it will be worth it." Chuck then said.
"Hopefully we will be able to share the energy and build more Deroboticisers. No telling how many on Mobius have been turned." Sally then said as Antoine then ran into the hut panting. They then looked at him.
"Princes... The Freedom Fighters squad sent into Robotropolis to scout and hunt remaining SWAT Bots... They were supposed to report back half an hour ago and they haven't responded to attempts to call..." Antoine then said as they took this in.
"How can that be? Robotnik is dead and his robots would have no one to take orders from..." Bunnie asked as Sonic thought it over.
"Wouldn't hurt to check it out and go on one last mission as proper Freedom Fighters; check it out and then reclaim Robotropolis in the process... We can get the Worker Bots in the process once we found out what's what... I have been bored in the week without Robuttnik." Sonic then said grinning as he put his fist into his open hand.
"Can I come too Aunt Sally?" Tails asked as Sally thought it over and then nodded.
"Since you are with us and like Sonic said... We need to get Robotropolis back anyway and get the Worker Bots to have their lives returned to them." Sally then said with a grin as the Freedom Fighters then gathered together.
Snively in his new suit and high collared cape was in a chair snickering to something as he had his hands together sinister like as he watched on the monitors the captured squad of Freedom Fighters screamed as they had the Roboticiser used on them. He then looked to a monitor to see the Knothole Freedom Fighters along with Chuck using a secret entrance into the main lair of Robototropolis.
"Looks like Sonic and his friends have arrived as I hoped that they would... Time to show them that Mobius is under new management..." cackled Snively as he turned around to see the red knight robot and a figure in the dark with glowing red eyes.
Chuck was leading them through the tunnel as Antoine looked scared but then they came across a squadron of SWAT Bots.
Chuck got out of the way as Sonic then began fighting them at super speed and Sally then began fighting them herself with her martial arts. Antoine looked scared as he and Rotor ended up cornered but Tails jumped and ended up in the air as he pcked up Antoine and Rotor by the arms.
"Tails... I didn't know that you could do that..." Rotor said in awe as he noticed that Tails' twin tails were hovering like a helicopter blade.
"Neither could I... Spurn of the moment..." Tails then answered.
Sally then got 2 SWAT Bots destroyed at once as Bunnie was using her own martials arts as she then pulled at the arm of one only to get shoved to the wall. She landed with a thud as she groaned with Sally concerned helping her up. "Bunnie... Are you alright..." Sally asked as Bunnie nodded.
"Ah'm alright Sal... Force of habit as it will take me a while to not be as strong as ah was with my robotic limbs..." Bunnie then replied as they saw Sonic at super speed going into a ball form go through several SWAT Bots at once and then more and more came but Sonic then got them down.
"Sonic... Since when did you go that fast... I don't think that you could take down that many SWAT Bots that quickly before..." Sally asked in awe as Sonic then stopped and then shot her a grin as Chuck pondered.
"My guess is that all of the Power Rings he has used combined with using the Deep Power Stones... It must have left him with a permanent boost in speed and power..." Chuck then said.
"I have somehow become that much more awesome..." Sonic then said with a grin as Sally rolled her eyes but they also noticed that it looked like blue electricity was emitting from his quills. However they were distracted as there was a cackle and descended from the roof was a throne and upon it was Snively with a smirk.
"You thought that it was all over after you foiled my uncle's Doomsday Project... However I had my own way of escape and now I reveal myself to you as I am here to claim his empty throne... Be ready for the new status quo as I take my place as King Colin I of Mobius!" Snively then taunted as they stared at him.
"Snively... You are controlling Robotnik's forces now..." Sally then said as Sonic then started chuckling which soon turned to outright laughter as he was now on his back struggling not control himself.
"What is this disrespect..." ranted Snively as Sonic got himself up and faced him.
"Your in charge now... Thanks Snively... I really needed that laugh...Plus I have been bored after your uncle's defeat and so it should be a fun warm up to kick your butt and stop the remnants of his reign once and for all..." Sonic then said grinning as Antoine's eyes widened.
"Your name has been Colin all this time..." asked Antoine as Snively was outright furious.
"Let's see you joke and laugh after you face my Scarlet Knight!" Snively ranted as then out came the red knight robot and charged at Sonic but he then launched himself as a ball at it and easily destroyed it with the limbs being thrown apart.
"That's all you got... I have got to say that I am really disappointed What would your uncle say if he was still here and saw how your special robot couldn't do anything to me..." Sonic then taunted but they were all confused as Snively was grinning.
"The Scarlet Knight wasn't meant to defeat you..." Snively taunted as they looked at the robot.
Rotor then checked the robot and saw that the armor's plating was covering a robot underneath it. Sally then picked up the head and got the helmet plating off it. They saw that it was a familiar figure's head roboticised.
"Wait... Isn't that..." Bunnie asked stunned as Sally gasped and hugged it close to her chest with tears in her eyes.
"No... It can't be..." Sally pleaded as Sonic looked in shock and then in guilt as Snively then resumed his cackling.
"It seemed that while the Doomsday Project failed; the energy of the explosion combined with the energy of your Stones power put a hole through time and space... Through it from the Void the King fell through without worrying about being crystallised I was able to claim him and put him through the Roboticiser... If only Uncle Julian could see me now..." Snively said as they looked at him in rage and fury.
"That's not the only one who went through..." said a dark voice and they looked behind them and from the shadows there were glowing red eyes. The figure then stepped out to reveal Naugus.
Off course among those Freedom Fighters at the beginning are Vector and Lanolin from the IDW comics. Plus the armor of the roboticised King is from Issue 36 of the Archie Sonic comics. The TV Tropes character page for Sonic pointed out that Sonic in the show while certainly fast and powerful wasn't able to handily take down Robotnik's forces as much as in other continuities and thus the Freedom Fighters usually have to rely on the stealth missions most of the time. Here as a side effect of the Deep Power Stones along with all the Rings he has used; his speed and more are now more in line with the live action movies.
So like the plans for the cancelled Season 3; Snively is trying to take his uncle's place and has teamed up with the freed Naugus. I believe that the Sea3on webcomic had the explanation that I used here. However the King is now gone for good after using the Scarlet Knight armor to trick the Freedom Fighters into destroying him and how exactly has Naugus become a full villain when his episode in the show showed him content to let the Freedom Fighters be after he tricked them into helping him escape so that he could focus on tormenting Robotnik as vengeance for his imprisonment? Let's see that explored in the next chapter...
