Chapter 15 The Arrival
28th August 1993, Hermione's room (room 15), Leaky Cauldron, London
Harry gives the letter to Hermione. Hermione says "I guess we should let him know we are staying at the Leaky Cauldron. Also, I wonder how Ginny is doing."
Harry says "I wonder about Ginny too. I hope the summer helped her and if not I think if she wants she can talk to us. Don't you think?"
Hermione nods and says "you are right."
Harry says "also I have an idea for a present. I have a necklace she may like as I want to make sure she is protected especially after last year and Quality Quidditch Supplies have new jersey's from Quidditch teams. According to Ron, she likes a certain one and I hoped you can go with her to take a jersey she wants that I will pay for if you don't mind. I am not sure which one would fit her."
Hermione smiles and says "that is really nice of you Harry. If she wants I think I can help her."
Harry smiles and says "that would be great. Should I send Ron a letter that we are both here and that we liked it if they come tomorrow?"
Hermione nods slowly as she is not sure. She will never want Ron to see her in a sundress or skirt if it isn't the Hogwarts uniform as then a skirt is required. The same is for Percy but somehow she doesn't mind the twins too much especially if Harry doesn't mind. On the other hand, she wants to show Harry as long as she could as Harry admits he likes the sundress and Hermione thinks he likes her skirts too, She hopes she dares to keep wearing them until Hogwarts despite Ron and Percy seeing her.
Harry says he will and see her downstairs for breakfast before he leaves to send Ron a letter with Hedwig and make sure Errol can rest until he can return.
28th August 1993, Diagon Alley, London
After breakfast Hermione says she needed to go to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions as she needs to have some robes, two Hogwarts uniforms to be resized and maybe a new Hogwarts uniform or two. She wanted to do it sooner but she forgot. Hermione didn't tell why but it was because she was too preoccupied with mostly Harry on her mind.
Hermione doesn't want Harry to see her as the others in Hogwarts see her and she thinks the robes and Hogwarts uniform would make Harry see her like that. She always has baggy robes too big for her to not have any boy ogling her as some older girls do by wearing tighter/ more fitting robes. She is still a growing girl so her Hogwarts uniform may need to be resized or she needs new ones.
28th August 1993, Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, Diagon Alley
Harry actually didn't want to go with her as Madam Malkin is sometimes a little loud and he knows Hermione probably wouldn't want Harry what Madam Malkin says what you especially hear if the store is empty. On the other hand, he wouldn't want to leave her alone as needing her beside him makes him join her.
Sometimes he feels that Hermione can be beside him but at least one step behind him just like Susan on the other side. Harry sometimes wants to walk behind her as he can't help but appreciate her starting female curves Hermione is certainly showing. Harry isn't sure but he is almost sure that Hermione has grown a lot more female this summer.
As expected as soon as they enter they are the only ones beside Madam Malkin. Hermione's parents gave her some money for the clothing and needs to save what isn't needed. Madam Malkin asks "what can I do for you, dears?"
Hermione says "I need to have new robes and maybe new Hogwarts uniforms."
Madam Malkin says "of course right this way…..Miss Granger if I am correct."
Hermione nods and follows Madam Malkin into the first dress room. Harry immediately starts to hear Madam Malkin talking with Hermione. Harry wonders if Madam Malkin does this on purpose. As soon as Madam Malkin starts to complete Hermione on her growth, especially on her breasts and arse Harry walks as far into the store as he could. It makes him embarrassed but also inside of him he becomes almost (more) possessive of this beautiful young woman that is his best friend Hermione Granger.
After 15 minutes Harry sees Hermione leaving the dressing room. Hermione is clearly also a bit embarrassed and she can't quite look Harry in the eye when he approached. Harry hears Madam Malkin say "it will be done tomorrow. Come by around noon and it will be done. I will also have the Hogwarts uniforms you brought resized and have also two new Hogwarts uniforms ready."
Hermione still embarrassed says "thank you, Madam Malkin. Can I pay now or after you are done?"
Madam Malkin says "you can pay when you get them tomorrow as you said you will pick them up."
Hermione nods. She says "alright thank you, Madam Malkin. Harry, I think we should go."
Harry says "yeah. Why don't we go to Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour to enjoy the nice weather?"
Hermione says "if you want to Harry, I guess we can go."
Hermione feels pleased with herself when Harry gives her a smile and nods. Hermione thanks Madam Malkin again before they leave the store.
28th August 1993, Quality Quidditch Supplies, Diagon Alley
After having a nice snack at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour Harry asked Hermione to come here. Hermione immediately agreed but wondered why.
When they walk inside Harry leads Hermione to the back wall. Hermione sees the clothing rack but wonders why Harry led her here as she isn't a Quidditch fan although she likes when Harry plays. Hermione thinks Harry doesn't know that she only likes it when Harry plays although she is happy if Gryffindor's house wins. She only is a fan of Harry and therefore also Gryffindor House.
Hermione learned the Quidditch rules for Harry and therefore also knows all the Quidditch teams in Great Britain and Ireland. She sees jersey's from all the team. Harry shows her one jersey and Hermione asks "isn't that the Holyhead Harpies jersey?"
She wouldn't have to ask as it clearly shows it is a jersey from the Holyhead Harpies in the Holyhead Harpies colour and also clearly shows the Holyhead Harpies emblem.
Harry says "yes, it is."
Hermione looks as confused as Harry. Sure, if she would be a fan of a professional Quidditch team she would probably be a fan and support the all-female Holyhead Harpies, however, she isn't although she doesn't know if she ever will although she thinks she will probably end up as a fan as she is only recently in the wizarding world and the main sport is Quidditch like in muggle Britain is soccer. As she will live and work in the magical world when she doesn't visit her parents she will probably end up as a Quidditch fan at some point even if she is only a little fan not as Quidditch nut as Harry and Ronald.
Harry sees that Hermione is confused and asks "when the Weasleys come here I was hoping that you can help Ginny with choosing a Holyhead Harpies jersey and make sure it fits. I don't know if she wants a jersey but I remember I think Ron or twins said she likes the Holyhead Harpies a lot."
Hermione says "I guess it would be the twins as Ron barely talked about Ginny and always chased her away. He rarely acknowledged her in Hogwarts."
Harry sighs and says "you are right. I should have said something. I just hope Ginny forgives me and hopes she wants to be my friend."
Hermione smiles a bit and says "I am sure she would. I hope she would be mine too."
Inside Hermione thinks 'Ginny wants a lot more than be your friend, Harry. I hope when I know what is going on with me Ginny and I, we can be friends. I hope I can stay best friends with Harry. I want that and nothing more, right?'
Harry is happy Hermione would help him with a present for Ginny. Harry says that they go to Flourish and Blotts before going back to the Leaky Cauldron for lunch. Hermione nods happily and almost drags Harry to Flourish and Blotts again.
28th August 1993, Ministry of Magic, London
Amelia is in the elevator going down for the Wizengamot. It is the first meeting after the summer recess and she knows it is going to be a tough one, especially for her as the Director of the DMLE. She needs to explain how Sirius escaped if it could have been prevented, how she imagines capturing Sirius if she has any lead and how she intends to protect Harry Potter and the other students and staff at Hogwarts. She is almost certain every question or concern she can answer unless how Sirius escaped. Amelia thinks it is wise to not tell Death Eaters how to escape.
Sirius didn't tell her how he escaped but she thinks it has something to do with his Animagus form. She will ask him when she sees him again, she is certain she will meet him again soon …. if she has everything to say about it. She is thinking about the 4th or 5th of September. She will try to convince Sirius to let her department handle Pettigrew even if she needs to handle it on her own with the very few trusted Aurors she has.
Amelia leaves the elevator and walks to the wizengamot chambers, which also is a courtroom. Right before she enters she wonders why the wizengamot chambers are in such a ghastly place. Other rooms can be used that look much better. Even the offices for the older Houses are not here but on level 2. It is the level of her department as that means extra protection for (the older) houses with an office for the wizengamot.
Normally the wizengamot would only be here if there was a trial that needed to be held for the whole Wizengamot when the Wizengamot members were in danger, and emergence meeting or when the wizengamot have important matters that need to be kept from the Daily Prophet as also this courtroom has no stands for reporters or spectators.
However, when Fudge became minister all wizengamot meetings changed to this courtroom with one small stand only enough for a few people including a reporter for the Daily Prophet although most of the time the stands are removed is something that needs to be discussed can hurt Fudge's position or reputation.
28th August 1993, Courtroom 10, Ministry of Magic, London
She enters and stops for a moment. She sees 'many' members talking with other members mainly those that support each other or hold the same ideals. She also hears some members talk about the summer as if this isn't an important wizengamot session. She looks around the room and sees that everyone is present except Chief Warlock Dumbledore, the minister and his senior undersecretary when she looks behind her and sees Malfoy step inside like he owns the world with Lord Nott and Lord Goyle with them soon followed by Lord Crabbe. All of them were supposed to be imperiused Death Eaters.
Amelia can't suppress the sad smile as she sees many seats will stay empty during the Wizengamot. During a trial, most will be filled with important ministry members, but only a small portion of those have a seat on the wizengamot.
It is only a small portion as there aren't more than 39 seats that are filled. The wizengamot contains 108 seats in total. 4 seats for the Founders of Hogwarts that have been empty for ages at some point in time the Founders descended were hunted and killed. No Heir has come forward ever since.
The magic on the seats is strong so common belief is that there are still Heirs of all the Founders out in the world. Amelia is afraid of House Bones and namely, Susan is one of the Heirs as House Bones claims to be descendants of Lady Hufflepuff without proof outside of the family. As the descendant of Lady Hufflepuff being alone without the other Heirs is a dangerous situation. She hopes that the other Heirs come forward in her time but after so many years without Heirs she highly doubts it. Amelia would love it if Susan can become Lady Hufflepuff but on the other hand, if Susan doesn't she will be safer than when she doesn't as then she will not be hunted and killed if those are still around and with her being the Director of the DMLE House Bones has enough enemies as it is although she didn't lock up the Death Eaters as she wasn't Director of the DMLE during You-Know-Who rise she did catch some lower ones with her squad she was only a member from.
Another 4 seats are for Chief Warlock, the Minister, Director of the DMLE and since Fudge became minister his senior undersecretary whom Amelia hates with a passion. 100 seats are for wizengamot members. The strongest and longest houses sit the closest to the empty Founders seat which is at the highest point of the chamber. The closest Houses are House Potter, House Black, House Longbottom and House Bones that is empty but she holds the proxy for House Bones until Susan can take up the title Lady Bones making Harry Potter Lord Bones and then relieve her of being Proxy although she wonders if they do the moment they are able which for most houses is age 21 after done training or apprenticeship of their chosen field. Amelia knows that Harry will probably not take House Bones as he is Lord Potter, but he can take House Bones by proxy, which Susan would most probably accept.
Amelia shakes her head slightly. Of the 100 seats 29 seats and Houses have all members in Azkaban and as in Azkaban, they can't have a proxy. However, Amelia knows it should have been more houses as Malfoy and his Allies are marked Death Eaters but claimed to be under the imperious curse with a large donation to the ministry to avoid most punishment.
Amelia sighs deeply when she knows that 32 Houses have died out, almost all of them in the last two wars. As Grindelwald was mostly on mainland Europe he didn't do too much damage and didn't want to spill (much) magical blood, the most were because of You-Know-Who as he didn't mind spilling magical blood if you were against him no matter how important the House was with House Potter being the prime example. Only a few have squibbed out and weren't killed by You-Know-Who. Of the remaining 39 seats, some Houses were lucky that the current Lord (or Lady) was in Hogwarts when their family was attacked and killed.
Amelia immediately walks toward Madam Longbottom making sure the Wizengamot mask and Director of the DMLE mask are in place. Along the way she greets some of the wizengamot members, she doesn't hate even some of the so-called neutral faction including Lord Jacob Greengrass.
When he reaches Madam Longbottom Amelia sees that Fudge and his undersecretary are walking in like they own the world and immediately starts to talk to Malfoy and his ilk. She notices that for a moment Malfoy's mask drops and he looks surprised with a strange look of anticipation and planning in his eyes.
Just as she wants to greet Madam Longbottom and keep her eyes on Malfoy thinking about what Fudge told him when Dumbledore walks in who looks quite exhausted but that should be expected as he is probably just back from Rome and the International Confederation of Wizards. Amelia can understand with Sirius Black on the loose Dumbledore as also the representative of Great Britain besides being the Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards would probably be asked but as the International Confederation of Wizards doesn't meddle in internal affairs. Dumbledore probably didn't tell them much or made assumptions that convinced the International Confederation of Wizards to not meddle in Britain's affairs.
She gets shocked out of her thoughts when Dumbledore announce for the Aurors to close the door and start the Wizengamot session. Amelia knew it was coming but still the reactions and fear because of Sirius being free shocked her.
It didn't surprise her that Malfoy start the talk about Sirius, accuse her of not being a good director of the DMLE and even almost accuse her as if she freed Sirius herself without saying that but Malfoy certainly imply it. She can immediately refuse but she doesn't as she want to know all of Malfoy's plans to throw at her to properly answer and defend herself as that seems to be needed.
When Malfoy is done with dragging her down through the mud before she can stand with the documents she needs to answer most of the questions and accusations Madam Longbottom stands up.
Dumbledore as Chief Warlock immediately announces that Madam Longbottom is acknowledged meaning she can address the wizengamot. Amelia is almost certain Madam Longbottom would help her to defend those ridiculous claims and assumptions Malfoy made.
Fortunately, she is not disappointed. Madam Longbottom manages to let everyone know that there is no way Amelia freed Sirius or is a lousy Director with only a few short sentences that even the dumbest members of the Wizengamot can understand and cannot disagree with.
She notices that the dark faction doesn't even attempt to go against Madam Longbottom as House Longbottom has a lot of power and pull in the Wizengamot. Madam Longbottom defending Amelia as much as she is if you still go after Amelia like Malfoy intended you will get a big problem with House Longbottom. Amelia is considering letting Madam Longbottom know the truth or at least let her meet Sirius so he can try to convince her.
Amelia hears Dumbledore asks "Director Bones, would you like to support Madam Longbottom with the investigation that to my understanding has occurred after it was known Sirius Black escaped and the unfortunate victims who happened to be killed by an unknown assailant?"
Amelia nods and stands up. Amelia says "first, I won't report that after Sirius Black has escaped, two other prisoners have been killed. While it would be logical to say Sirius Black has done that, however, that is impossible as the bodies have been ripped apart. Sirius Black would have been unable to accomplish that even with a wand as the other prisoners would have heard everything but they hadn't."
"The killed prisoners are family of Sirius Black so he would not kill them. The prisoners were Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange seen as one of the most devoted followers only second to Sirius Black."
Amelia tries to sound honest as she knows what she always believed and that is that Sirius wasn't and isn't a Death Eater. She never believed it, but she believed he was convicted of what he is not. She wants to bring that up, but at this moment it is too soon and she has no real evidence that he wasn't. She is sure Sirius speaks the truth, but she had no time to search for his trial record or maybe it is better to say pretend to search for his trial record as it doesn't exist.
When nobody responds she continued with no one saw him leave and that there is no sign as he reached shore or where he is now. Also that the muggle Minister has been notified and he also is being searched in the muggle world.
Amelia says "I don't think that he would be in the muggle world even though this is the first time someone escaped from Azkaban."
Fudge stands up. Amelia wonders, but Dumbledore as Chief Warlock acknowledge Fudge as Minister of magic she remains standing but stops talking. If someone stands up when someone else talks or gets acknowledged it means something regarding the current subject meaning in this case Sirius Black or his escape.
Fudge asks "Director Bones is there any evidence where he is?"
Amelia shakes her head and says "there is no clue where he is at the moment. We found the point where he went ashore but that was two days later. He went south but that is all we know."
Fudge asks "is it true that he said he is in Hogwarts the days before his escape?"
Amelia thinks 'bloody hell Sirius couldn't you have said anything else.'
Amelia says "the report does mention that he muttered something but I didn't know what he said that."
Fudge says "well it seems that he is after Harry Potter. I think that is clear to everyone?"
Fudge looks around and sees almost the whole Wizengamot agreeing with him. Fudge presses on.
Fudge says "we must protect Harry Potter and of course the other students of Hogwarts. I order the Dementor Kiss on Sirius Black. Also, we should send Dementors to Hogwarts purely to protect Harry Potter and the other students so a kiss on sight order on Sirius Black should prevent Sirius Black from escaping if the Dementors caught them."
Dumbledore immediately says "Cornelius, you can't be serious about sending Dementors to Hogwarts. Many children can't protect against Dementors."
Fudge says "nonsense Dumbledore, the Dementors obey the Ministry. They will only attack Sirius Black and none of the students."
Dumbledore wants to disagree when too many members of the Wizengamot panic Malfoy stands up and says "I second Minster Fudge's decision to send Dementors to Hogwarts to make sure our children are protected from the mass murderer, Sirius Black. I also second the kiss on sight order on Sirius Black."
Amelia can barely keep her mask up to call Sirius Black, a mass murderer, her Sirius. Amelia's little slip isn't noticed as many members with their Heir(s) in Hogwarts jump up to refuse. Only a few members with their Heir(s) or Heiress(es) in Hogwarts keep seating beside the whole dark faction (as they follow Malfoy). Amelia notices that Jacob still sits but is clearly disgusted by the idea as is his 'long' Ally Lord Davies. Lady Abbot is shocked that she slumps in her chair and Madam Longbottom is like she is ready to kill Malfoy but is also still seated.
It takes many minutes before Amelia hears cannon shots that slowly start to overwhelm the many shouts and slowly members start to sit back down although many are not happy.
When everybody has stopped shouting and everybody has to sit down including Amelia and Malfoy. Dumbledore says "I am sure many members are against it. We take a 5-minute break before we continue this important conversation.'
Dumbledore hopes to have a few minutes to convince Fudge to change his mind. Fudge says "nonsense Dumbledore, we need to make quick decisions."
Malfoy stands up and doesn't wait to be acknowledged and says "I fully agree Minister. Every moment we take Black can hurt someone if not worse."
Fudge nods and says "indeed. We need to stop Sirius Black."
Malfoy looks at Amelia and asks "I hope Director Bones, you have taken steps to protect Harry Potter?"
Amelia says "I didn't know Sirius Black said anything regarding Harry Potter."
Malfoy gives a smile and asks "how can you not? You should have known Black will go after Harry Potter as Harry Potter stopped his master. Don't you know what he did?"
Amelia says hotly "I know what Sirius Black did. And contrary to what you believe I did make sure that Harry Potter has protection, but I can't do much as that will only stress out Harry Potter and he won't like Auror protection. I have covertly given him protection as also have Aurors in important locations. There isn't much more I can do as we don't have enough Aurors as the budget for the DMLE has been decreased every year since 1982 and rapidly since 1991."
"I can barely have the important locations protected with the Auror force we now have. That is also the reason we cannot place Dementors at Hogwarts, as I don't have the Aurors to protect the important locations, Azkaban, keep the Dementors at Hogwarts under control and search and capture Sirius Black."
Fudge says "we don't need to capture Sirius Black or have Aurors look for him. The Dementors can hunt Sirius Black down and kiss him. We have enough Dementors for Azkaban, Hogwarts and searching for Sirius Black."
Amelia says "you can't send Dementors without Aurors. What if the Dementors attack a wizard or a witch who can't defend himself or herself? We will have more casualties than Sirius Black ever did if we let the Dementors run loose as most witches and wizards can't cast a Patronus and lucky is they can cast barely a shield that will protect them to maybe one Dementor, but where is one Dementor mostly there are more close by."
Fudge smugly says "I am not asking to send Dementors after Sirius Black or place Dementors as Hogwarts. I am doing it as a courtesy to let you know. As Sirius Black has escaped and is a danger to disrupt our pure and peaceful society I can use the Minister's executive power without needing the Wizengamot approval according to the law from 1815 that was proven in 1940 that the law is still able to be used."
"Nobody can disagree that Sirius Black's escape is a danger. Therefore I use the law that I as Minister can use to do what I deem necessary and be able to make faster decisions…. all for our safety of course."
Amelia suppress a groan as she remembers her father teaching her and Susan's father law this obscure law was also thought. She knows that to make sure Fudge can't use the law it must be believed Sirius fled England as no other (western) country uses Dementors. The other way to overrule Fudge and that law is if an important member of the society, so that means purebloods like herself and Susan, believed pureblood or pureblood by law like Harry and influential half-bloods with significant importance is attacked or kissed by a Dementor while they aren't the target.
Dumbledore says "Cornelius I ask you to reconsider."
Fudge says "nonsense Dumbledore we need to protect our people."
Amelia knows what Fudge mean is to save his own arse and only the people that support him and that are pureblood even though Fudge isn't and only barely by law.
Dumbledore sighs and says "then as Headmaster I will not allow Dementors in Hogwarts or on the Hogwarts ground."
Fudge says "that is fine the Dementors will then be placed on the Hogwarts border to prevent Sirius Black from entering Hogwarts or the grounds."
Amelia sees many unhappy faces when Jacob Greengrass stands up. She wonders why.
Dumbledore says "the Wizengamot acknowledge Lord Greengrass."
Jacob says "thank you, Chief Warlock. I ask Minister Fudge to reconsider."
Fudge looks at Jacob and says "I do not, Lord Greengrass."
Jacob sighs and says "I expected that much. Then I ask Director Bones if she can have Aurors with the Dementors at the border of Hogwarts to make sure the Dementors don't hurt the occupants of Hogsmeade and also do not enter the Hogwarts ground even though are not allowed and hurt the students."
Amelia stands up and says "I am sorry Lord Greengrass but as I said before I don't have the Aurors to do so and neither do I have the funding."
Before Amelia can explain why again Jacob says "I understand then I propose we increase the budget for the DMLE and mostly focus on the Auror office."
Fudge says immediately "I don't think that is needed, Lord Greengrass."
Amelia wishes she could second Lord Greengrass but also the director she can't even if she is also Regent Bones and hold the seat for now. She almost hopefully looks around. She doesn't see anyone make a move to second Lord Greengrass, not even his usual ally. She thinks that nobody is going to support Jacob when she sees someone stand up that normally would never support anyone.
Lord Patil stands up and says "I second Lord Greengrass's proposal to give more funding to the DMLE mostly focused on the Auror Office."
Dumbledore immediately says "giving more funding making it a large budget for the DMLE has been seconded. This will call for a vote."
Dumbledore sees if anyone refuses except Fudge and his undersecretary, but he doesn't see anyone. The dark families don't look happy but they are afraid of their own Heir(s). If they disagree with it their Heir is in real danger and it will also raise a lot of suspicion towards their House that they may follow Voldemort willingly instead of the Imperius Curse as they all claimed they were controlled.
Dumbledore says "everyone who is for, please raise your hand."
Amelia immediately raises two hands meaning both her vote as the Director of the DMLE and as Regent Bones are voting for. Amelia is surprised by the many hands going up when she looks around. She sees Jacob give her a mischievous smile and wonders if he knew it would go this way especially since the whole neutral faction voted for the extra funding. She wonders if this also shows House Patil's allegiance or does House Patil's second House Greengrass is just a coincidence or maybe out of fear for his own twin daughters.
Amelia knows that in total there are 42 votes. The 39 filled seats, her vote as Director of the DMLE, the ministers vote and his undersecretary vote. Chief Warlock has no vote during the monthly meetings unless laws are discussed to be passed.
Chief Warlock has a vote during a court case as Chief Warlock's task is to lead meetings and can if wanted be one of the prosecutors during court cases, therefore, leading it and also need to make sure justice is served well unless with Sirius Black as he didn't get a trial that is also one of Dumbledore's task as Chief Warlock. Chief Warlock can decide the punishment for the convicted although the Minister can also decide punishment most of the time if Chief Warlock decides differently than the Minister, the severity of the crimes decides which punishment will be carried out or according to the laws what the appropriate punishment is.
Dumbledore says "and now those that are against the extra funding."
Amelia hopes that she gets the extra funding so she can have her most trusting Auror, an (senior) Auror she trusts very much and an Auror trainee who, according to her most trusted Auror has a great future and is one of the best trainees since the end of the (civil) war with Voldemort be at Hogwarts, and tell them the truth although the Auror trainee already does know. She is his cousin after all.
Dumbledore announce "with 24 for, 14 against and 4 abstained the extra funding for the DMLE mostly focused on the Auror Office pass. Director Bones, you will get your additional funding as soon as possible. If you can give a request form with how much you need we can see if we can reach that request or at least partially."
Amelia stands up and says "thank you, Chief Warlock. I will have the requested documents to you within the day."
Dumbledore says "that will be greatly appreciated."
Dumbledore looks around and says "are there anymore …."
Dumbledore stops talking when Fudge stands up again. Fudge says "as the DMLE get extra funding I want to have Master Auror Moody assemble a squad to track and hunt down Sirius Black. They will contain them until a Dementor comes to perform the kiss on sight order."
Amelia stands up again and says "Minister, while you can ask for it if we had any hit wizards and witches left but you abolished the office in 1991. Therefore you cannot request that. Also, Master Auror Moody will be needed at Hogwarts when the students start to arrive as he is the only Auror we have left that can contain multiple Dementors. With extra funding, I can take on new Auror trainees and Aurors who were laid off or stopped on their own. Hopefully, some of the Aurors come back so we have enough Aurors to control the Dementors and a squad of seasoned Auror to track down Sirius Black. Master Auror Moody was indeed a hit wizard but when you abolished the hit wizard office, it means you also gave up your authority to assign hit wizards and witches squad to track down a dark wizard like Sirius Black."
Amelia can barely resist giving Fudge a smug smile. If she thought that Sirius was a criminal she would 'gladly' agree with Fudge, but as she knows Sirius is innocent and feels in her bones that Sirius told her the whole truth hoping that her heart doesn't cloud her mind and feelings in her bones. She notices that Madam Longbottom seems to know something is up. She can tell her but before she does she needs to ask Sirius even though Amelia knows she can trust Madam Longbottom. However, the close relationship Sirius has with Bellatrix even if she really was controlled can damage the relationship she has with Madam Longbottom.
On the other hand, she can use House Potter's importance that Sirius stays free and gel a trial if Madam Longbottom isn't sure or even want to stun and give him to the Dementor may her at least listen to Sirius on his own behalf but also on Bellatrix's behalf without involving the Wizengamot at this moment just like Amelia did although she never expected Sirius to walk into her house despite he was in disguise and Harry unintentionally revealing him although that was understandable after learning his godfather should probably know about the marriage contract that he did.
Dumbledore closes the session and immediately leaves the room. Amelia thinks he must probably make preparations for the students and now also make preparations for the Dementors at the border and for the Aurors although both will not enter Hogwarts and its grounds unless it is necessary although she will instruct all her Aurors to keep the Dementors as far away as possible from the Hogwarts border, ground and certainly the castle. She needs to brief Moody, the Auror she trusts most and Kingsley, the Auror she starts to trust very much. Tonks is on assignment so she needs to wait until Harry is on the Hogwarts Express to brief her. Amelia thinks that during Hogsmeade weekend Tonks will like her job very much.
Amelia leaves and feels a couple of pairs of eyes on her. Proven by the time she was an Auror she knows it isn't just a feeling and that she is being watched by a couple of Wizengamot members. She doesn't turn around to see who but she has an idea that at least Madam Longbottom, her good friend Lady Abbot even if it is through Hannah's close friendship with Susan and maybe even Lord Greengrass.
29th August 1993, Leaky Cauldron, London
It is breakfast time. Harry and Hermione sit downstairs to enjoy breakfast. Hedwig is on the table enjoying bacon strips, fresh water and some owl snacks with bacon flavour. Athena is just resting on Harry's arm with her head on his shoulder.
Hermione asks "Harry, do you know when the Weasleys will be here?"
Harry says "I don't know, but I guess around 11 am at the earliest. Why Hermione?"
Hermione blushes and says "I would like to change before they come."
Harry is happy Hermione wears the necklace, He asks confused "why? You look good."
Hermione gets embarrassed by Harry's compliment and says "uhhh….. thank you, Harry. I just want to change."
Harry asks "are you sure, you look great in that soft black sundress. It is soft black right?"
Hermione smiles brightly while she says "yes it is a soft black. Don't worry about it Harry I just prefer to."
Harry shrugs and says "alright, I guess."
Hermione smiles. She asks "what about you Harry? I have noticed you wear much better clothes than in the last two years."
Harry shrugs and says "well, I had quite a lot of time before you came. I had the money to buy some new clothes as Madam Malkin's also sells muggle clothes although not as much as robes or a muggle shop have but still enough to get some new muggle clothes that fit. So I kind of thought why not."
Hermione smiles and says "well they look great on you Harry."
Harry smiles and says "thank you, 'Mione."
Hermione asks hotly "what did you call me?"
Harry says "of sorry Hermione. I don't know why I said that."
Hermione asks "what did you call me, Harry?"
Harry says while looking at the ground hoping Hermione isn't mad " 'Mione."
Hermione looks to think for a minute and says "alright, Harry. Normally I don't like my name shortened. However, as you say it, it doesn't sound bad."
Harry says honestly "if you don't want me to call you that Hermione I am sorry and wouldn't do it again. Also, I don't know why I said that it just kind of happened."
Hermione feels sad when she thinks Harry wouldn't call her that anymore and that surprised her, to say the least as she is completely honest when she said that she doesn't like her name shortened.
Hermione immediately says "no, no, no Harry. If you do it sometimes I don't mind but maybe only when we are alone or with people we trust as I have no intention to have others call me like that like Ronald. I don't know why but it doesn't feel right when I imagine Ronald calling me like that. Is that alright?"
Harry nods and says "sure, it is. It is after all your choice. But are you sure it is fine if I call you that? If you don't want to I will not, Hermione."
Hermione says a bit hotly "it is fine, Harry. Like I said if you do it sometimes when we are alone or with people we trust and like it is alright."
Just as Harry wants to say something they both notice the floo light up. It happened multiple times before so it doesn't shock them. They don't look when Hermione jumps up from the table and almost run upstairs. Harry wonders why when he notices that people with red hair have come out of the fireplace. He looks and sees that all the Weasleys are here…. well except the oldest two Weasley sons he would like to meet but didn't have the pleasure yet.
He sees the Weasleys approach him. Harry immediately whispers to Athena to move to his leg without showing herself. Athena immediately obeys although she doesn't like to move as she rests. When Harry stands up Mrs. Weasley gives him a crushing hug that Harry finds quite uncomfortable. Ron says "hey Harry. How are you doing?"
Harry says "I am fine Ron."
One of the twins says "hey Harry."
The other says "who was that"
The first one says "bird that was "
Both say "at your table."
The second one says "you have better"
The first one continues with "clothes that were before."
Both ask "do you have a girlfriend?"
Harry blushes a bit as he wonders what he feels if it is something you feel for a girlfriend, is that why it is different for Susan as she is his betroth, not his girlfriend?
When he sees the mischievous smile on the twins' faces he says "it was Hermione. She had to do something in her room."
Harry doesn't disagree as he doesn't think it is necessary. Also, he already has a betroth and he knows even if he gets more wives Hermione will not accept that if what he feels for her is more than being his best friend. He thinks 'wouldn't it be bad if I think as that I don't want to lose her also as having more wives as isn't normal in the muggle world. She would hate me or actually she would hex me if not worse.'
Harry is still struggling with the multiple wives more than having a marriage contract with Susan Bones and an already attractive girl that can only look better when she gets older just like Hermione when Harry thinks about it. He only accepted it as Susan, Amelia and Sirius all agree he should continue House Potter meaning more wives. He wants to continue his house but that doesn't make the multiple wives easier to accept and that does not mention by Merlin how would be able to keep Susan and any additional wives happy. Maybe he needs to ask Susan if it can still be changed and that their first son will be a Potter.
His attention is drawn to a good-looking girl with red hair, not crimson like Susan. He sees a very nervous Ginny and says "hey Ginny how are you doing?"
He barely hears her when she says "I am fine, Harry."
Harry sees that Ginny can't look at him. He hopes he can make her happy with the book, asks if she wants the necklace that looks good on her or at least he thinks it does and offers to buy her a jersey from her favourite team as a present.
Harry says to all the Weasleys "please take a seat Hermione and I were just having breakfast before going into Diagon Alley."
Harry immediately sees Ron looking at the table and closing in on Hermione's breakfast as she wasn't done when they came true. Mr. Weasley sees it also and manages to drag Ron back to sit beside him the furthest away from Hermione's breakfast. Ron makes a groan like he hasn't eaten for a week straight.
Harry says "that is Hermione's breakfast Ron not yours."
Ron says "but she left it…"
Harry interrupts and says "that doesn't mean she will not eat it when she comes back."
Ron says "she can order something else. I am hungry."
Harry starts to become very angry and almost wants to draw his wand and curse Ron. Percy says "you already ate 4 plates at home."
Ron says "I didn't have time for my normal breakfast I am a growing boy."
Harry sees that Ron will not back down and decide to do something he actually wanted to wait and first show Ginny or have Hermione here so she can assure them that Athena is harmless unless she bites you of course.
Harry sis §Athena, I need you on the table.§
Athena immediately moves from his leg to his arm and Harry feels that and makes sure his right hand is on the table so Athena can easily slitter on the table.
Right before Athena slitters out of his sleeve Harry sis §I want you to protect Hermione's breakfast from anyone except Hermione and if someone else wants to grab at it you can try to bite the person but please pretend to barely miss.§
Athena sis just as she appears §as master wishes.§'
It takes a couple of seconds before everyone at the table notice that out of Harry's sleeve a snake slithers across the table to Hermione's plate and almost protectively coils around her plate and looks around the table to make sure nobody grabs Master's friend's breakfast.
Athena smelled a scent she smelled last year a lot. She tries to find out which one it is. It ordered her to attack. She was ordered to close her eyes as the one that ordered her wasn't a speaker and could die although that one spoke Parseltongue. It confused her then and confuses her now. She is sure when Master's friend comes back she will be able to find out which one it is. She is sure the one she smells isn't bad as she was able to bond with her new Master and she is sure her Master will not like anyone that helped the bad Heir by attacking students she actually needed to protect.
What surprises everyone but Harry is that Hedwig sees Athena but just continues eating and enjoying her bacon strips sometimes drinking some fresh water. She sometimes grabs an owl snack but clearly likes the bacon strips the most.
Ron is the first one that doesn't care as he only wants food. He went to grab Hermione's food and is just barely fast enough to pull his hand back from Athena's bite. Harry thinks Athena can be faster. He is happy he asked Athena to miss biting anyone or Ron would have been bitten although he should have known Ron would try anyway.
Harry almost calls Ron stupid when he tries again and is again just barely fast enough to pull his hand back before he is bitten. The twins and Mr. Weasley start to watch Harry as the snake came out of Harry's sleeve. Mrs. Weasley looks in horror at Ron barely being bitten twice and still goes for the third time. Ginny cannot look at Harry afraid to see that he does hate her for last year and just was nice to her but in the summer became mad when he thought about it and is also blaming her. Percy hasn't even seen the snake as has his nose in a book.
Ron asks "can anyone remove the snake? I can't eat."
Harry suppresses his anger and indifferently says "Ron, like I said it is Hermione's breakfast, not yours."
Ron whines and says "she isn't here."
Harry starts to get mad and says "she is here. She is just upstairs and I think she will be back soon."
Mrs. Weasley answers Ron's question and says "I will remove the snake."
Harry says "no Mrs. Weasley. She is my snake."
Mrs. Weasley says "but it nearly bit Ron and you are a Gryffindor why do you even have a snake?"
Harry says "I have a snake because I can speak to snakes as you should know Mrs. Weasley also if Ron doesn't try to take Hermione's breakfast she will not try to bite Ron. That I can assure you."
Mrs. Weasley asks worryingly "but what about Hermione?"
Harry says "she will not attack her to continue her breakfast."
Mrs. Weasley says motherly "Harry, I think it is better that I remove the snake. You also shouldn't have a snake. You can't even take her to Hogwarts. It is better to remove her now."
Harry tries not to lash out in anger at the woman who opened her house to him last year and send him his first-ever Christmas present. He says "actually I can. According to the charter of Hogwarts as I speak Parseltongue I can have a snake with me beside Hedwig as long as the snake listens to me."
Mrs. Weasley says almost proudly "well it seems she wasn't. She almost bites Ron three times."
Harry gives a smile and says "actually she does. I asked her to make sure nobody but Hermione touched her food. The only reason Ron isn't bitten is that I ask her to not bite anyone if possible. Also if she would Ron has gone too far and if she wouldn't listen to me otherwise do you really think Hedwig would stay calm here."
Mrs. Weasley wants to say something but Mr. Weasley beat her to it as he says "I guess you are right, Harry. Also are you sure the rule in the charter we wouldn't want you to get in trouble? Also, Ron, don't try to touch Hermione's food. We will have lunch at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour just hold on until then."
Ron starts to whine "but I am hungry now."
Mrs. Weasley says strictly "I still say we should remove the snake."
Harry says "don't hurt her."
Mrs. Weasley says "I am sure it will be painless. It is to keep you all safe."
Ginny feels Harry's magic rising and can't keep looking away like she wanted. Harry's voice changed like he demands obedience when he almost screams "do not hurt Athena. She is no danger if you do not attack her. She is allowed to defend herself especially when she is attacked."
Mrs. Weasley stops drawing her wand. It takes a few minutes before she still draws her wand. However, the moment she does Mr. Weasley says "Molly, no. I trust Harry if he says Athena is no danger then I trust him. He killed a Basilisk to save Ginny, there is no way that Harry would have a snake that won't listen to him or is a danger to anyone."
Mrs. Weasley is surprised as Mr. Weasley has never gone against her, especially regarding their children and this is their safety she is thinking about. She doesn't what to do when Hermione appears again. It seems she doesn't know that anything happened. She is surprised that Athena is on the table. She sits down and gives Athena a little scratch. It surprises everyone especially when Hermione sits down as there is no way to evade Athena if she bites Hermione.
Hermione moves her hand to continue her breakfast and Mrs. Weasley becomes very scared for her, but to her surprise, Athena doesn't attack her. Ron's hand comes closer to Hermione's plate and Athena immediately focuses on the hand. The closer the hand get the more aggressive Athena hisses while also her body language becomes more aggressive. Mr. Weasley notice the aggressive hissing and immediately pulled Ron and Ron's hands back. Mr. Weasley almost wanted to bind Ron's hands to the chair or his back.
Hermione notices everyone except Harry and Ginny staring at her. Ginny can't help but look at Harry in awe and something inside her pulled her to Harry to look for his guidance to never disobey him especially when he used the voice he used to stop her mother from hurting his snake.
Harry doesn't notice as he has his eyes closed gently scratching Hedwig while Hedwig eats and drinks which makes her incredibly happy to be scratched while eating and drinking.
Hermione swallows the food in her mouth and asks "is something wrong?"
Mrs. Weasley gently asks "why aren't you afraid of the snake? Snakes can be very dangerous, I think even muggle snakes can be dangerous."
Hermione says "oh. It is Harry's snake."
Mrs. Weasley says "but it is still a snake. It doesn't matter if it is Harry's snake or not, it is dangerous."
Hermione shrugs and says "it is Harry's snake and she listens to Harry. I trust Harry and therefore I trust Athena."
Mrs. Weasley thinks maybe she is wrong to be scared of the snake. Mrs. Weasley turns to Harry and asks "Harry, dear, can you call your snake back?"
Harry says "sure, but she isn't dangerous if you don't attack her."
Harry looks at Athena and sis §Athena, you did great you can come back to me if you want. You can slide up my arm if you want.§
Athena hisses happily that she is happy she pleased her master and that she would like to go back to him. She slitters across the table and Harry put his right hand back on the table.
Athena sis §Master, can I go above your shirt? It was difficult to move earlier.§
Harry nods and Athena slitters up his arm. She immediately put her head on his shoulder. She pushes her head against Harry's cheek. Harry smiles before giving her a few scratches.
The twins are already thinking about what pranks they can do with Athena. Harry sees this and like he reads their mind says "no, Fred and George. I will not lend you, Athena. Especially not for pranks as I am responsible for her. If something happens because of her I will be in trouble that can end badly for her."
Hermione says "it can also end badly for you, Harry."
Harry shrugs and says "I don't mind. I just don't want Athena to be hurt or in danger."
Hermione rolls her eyes but decides to not comment and just finish breakfast as she is almost certain the Weasleys don't have their supplies yet.
29th August 1993, Leaky Cauldron, London
It is dinner time. Harry and Hermione are surprised when at lunch Mr. Weasley said that they would also stay at the Leaky Cauldron until the 1st of September. Harry was even more surprised that the Weasleys said that they have some presents for him that they would give him after dinner. Harry decides that he would give Ginny the presents tomorrow.
After dinner, Mrs. Weasley gives Harry a warm smile and says "just wait for a second Harry dear. Arthur, can you grab our gift and take the others with you to grab theirs? You too Ginny."
They all nodded and went upstairs to the room they asked for before dinner. Hermione says "oh Harry, I totally forgot to give you your Birthday present. Just let me get it."
Hermione rushed upstairs. Mrs. Weasley says "let me get you some more dinner."
Harry already ate a couple of plates but he can't deny that is still a bit hungry and can eat another plate. The first that came back down is Percy followed by the twins. Not long after Hermione comes back with a large smile. A few minutes later Arthur and Ginny return. Ginny is clearly embarrassed holding his presents close to her chest. Molly returns with another plate of food for him and finally, when Harry is already halfway through his plate Ron comes back.
When he is done Mrs. Weasley says "why don't we start with Percy?"
Percy barely acknowledges Mrs. Weasley but apparently knew what she said as she grabs a book and says "here you are Harry. Happy belated Birthday, this is a book with jobs in the ministry and what NEWTs need for the jobs and what NEWTs are highly appreciated. With you choosing electives this year it is really important to choose what you want to do after Hogwarts and make sure you take the necessary electives."
Harry thanks him with a big smile as he does wonder what kind of jobs the ministry has although he isn't sure if he wants to work in the ministry after Hogwarts. He likes to know what Andi and Sirius know about the jobs in the ministry and what should be good to do. He can ask Nymfie about being an Auror although she is an Auror trainee at the moment.
Mrs. Weasley tells the twins to go next. Harry looks at the twins and sees two identical mischievous smiles. One says "we got you" followed by the other "a very sensitive." They both say "Pocket Sneakoscope."
One says "it is very sensitive."
The second says "we put beetles in."
The first one gives big smile as he says "bill's soup and."
The second one says "the Pocket Sneakoscope."
Both say in unison "warned him and went wild, unfortunately."
Ron says "oh that is why it was weird as Scabbers was near it."
Harry asks what a Pocket Sneakoscope should do. Hermione immediately starts to lecture what a Pocket Sneakoscope is when it was created and who created it.
Harry can't just look away from Hermione and smile while she is telling everything she knows about the Sneakoscope and the Pocket Sneakoscope. He knows he stares especially when Hedwig and Athena need to hurt him a bit to make him stop staring. Hedwig pecks his hand while Athena squeezes his arm almost like she tries to strangle his arm.
Harry listens to Hermione after he stops staring. When Hermione is done Mrs. Weasley asks Ron to go next. One of the twins says "wait, mom, we got one more present."
Mrs. Weasley says "oh alright."
One of the twins says "here Harry."
The other says "it is sweets from Egypt."
Harry thanks the twins when Ron says "I got sweets for you too."
Harry thanks Ron too.
Mrs. Weasley says "Harry, we got you a present too. Also, Charlie and Bill wanted to give you something and gave it to us to give to you. I will give you our present and Arthur will give you the present from Charlie and Bill."
Harry can only smile. Mrs. Weasley grabs their present from Mr. Weasley and gives it to Harry. Harry starts to open them while Mrs. Weasley says what he got "I made you a Birthday cake. Also, I manage to make some homemade meals you always like. Arthur and I also bought you some clothes that should fit you. These are muggle clothes but we bought them in Egypt and they have a resizing charm as Arthur and I agreed you should have a big grown spurt soon."
Harry says "thank you Mrs. Weasley."
Mrs. Weasley smiles and says "it is alright, dear."
Mr. Weasley stands up and says "Harry, Bill and Charlie gave me two presents one from either of you. They would like to meet you but unfortunately, they are working overseas."
Harry grabs both presents. Both presents are around the same size. Harry grabs the small present first. He opens it and he sees that they are seeker gloves. Harry sees a letter and reads it.
Hey Harry,
Bill and I want to thank you for saving Ginny. We hope you don't blame her, but what she told how you acted you don't. I think you need to tell her that. I know we can never repay you but that doesn't mean Bill and I can't give you a present. Ron told me you are a very good seeker. I was too and I can't wait to see who is better.
As you play Quidditch I thought about giving you these gloves. They are seeker gloves and are special as they are made of the hide of a Nundu. Nundu's are very dangerous animals as they have toxic breaths that can wipe out whole villages. Their hide is very strong and rivals some dragons although there are dragons who have a stronger hide.
The seeker gloves should give you better protection from Bludgers when you try to get the Snitch. It should be able to prevent your arm and hand from breaking even if you use it to shield against a Bludger. The Bludger could still hit you and hurt you but not as much with normal gloves. The Bludger could still hit you and send you to the ground on your broom or made you fall off your broom even if you shield yourself. It will not make you invisible.
I know some seekers are very picky about what kind of gloves they wear, but quite a couple of good professional seekers like Nundu and other strong hides to have seeker gloves from. I hope you like them. Again thank you for saving Ginny.
Charlie Weasley
Harry sees that Hermione is almost ready to explode. He asks "Hermione, what is a Nundu?"
Hermione immediately starts to lecture them again. It is difficult but this time Harry doesn't stare and hear every word she says.
Hermione says "The Nundu is a large East African magical beast that resembled a leopard. It moves silently, despite its "gigantic" size and is considered by some to be the most dangerous creature alive. The breath of the Nundu is toxic and filled with disease so potent that it can wipe out entire villages of people."
"The Nundu is extremely hard to subdue. It had never been defeated by less than one hundred wizards working together. Compared to the dragons that can be stunned into submission by around ten wizards, the prospect of this rare beast became truly terrifying. The hide is extremely strong with the speed is why it is hard to subdue a Nundu. As Nundu's can evade spells that dragons who are on the ground have more difficulty to."
Harry says "thank you, Hermione."
Hermione gives a smile that makes Harry happy. Hermione says "you are welcome Harry, now open the second present."
Harry does and he opens the second larger present. When he opens it and holds it out what is it? He sees a small letter that is about the same one Charlie wrote him but from Bill.
Mr. Weasley says "who Harry that is a dragon hide jacket. I think this is from a Hungarian Horntail although it looks like this particular Horntail has more golden spikes it seems than the more common bronze spikes which is also the colour of the horns. It was probably an old but very powerful and healthy dragon, but even dragons don't live forever. I think this is from the reserve Charlie works at. They only use hide when a dragon dies of old age. I don't think they kill dragons unless the dragons are a danger to the reserve or the muggles and their cattle that also means the statute of secrecy."
Harry nods and he tries it on. Hermione immediately says "it has a resizing charm."
Harry says "oh really? I didn't notice."
He sees everyone nod. Mr. Weasley says "that is no surprise. Dragon hide is one of the best materials to use for runes and charms besides its being strong and therefore very durable."
Hermione nods almost as Dobby does.
Mrs. Weasley says "Hermione, dear why don't you give Harry your present."
Hermione nods and grabs the present. She gives it to Harry. Harry opens it and looks a bit surprised and confused.
Hermione says "it is a wand holster. I have read that it is an easy way to keep your wand especially if you need it fast. With Sirius Black on the loose, I thought you could use it. Aurors have special made wand holsters, but you need to be an Auror to use that one, have an Auror give one to you but that must be allowed by the ministry especially the head of the DMLE. This wand holster I got in France but I think the same rules apply there."
"The wand holster is made of dragon hide. According to the shop and I think they were right it is made of the hide of a Hebridean Black. I thought the black hide looks really good. There are scales on the important part so the wand wouldn't be damaged and it can also not be cut off with a spell, charms or curse. The scales are the toughest part of the dragon hide."
Hermione looks anxiously and says "try it on. It should be on your wand hand's lower arm. With a flick of your wrist, your wand should go to your hand. Also, the wand holster has an anti-summoning charm. The summoning charm Accio would not work on living things thought but your wand isn't. Also, I think the black hide you should be able to wear on your robes and make it a bit difficult to see. Also, you can wear the holster underneath your robes as they are a bit baggy. You should try when we are at Hogwarts if you can still summon your wand with the robes on."
Harry says "thank you very much, Hermione. Can you help me put it on?"
Hermione nods and helps him put it on his right lower arm. Harry put his wand in the holster and it feels right. He says "it feels right and it still feels like the wand is easy to reach."
Hermione says "try it, Harry."
Harry flicks his wrist and almost immediately his wand is in his hand. Harry can only say "wow."
Mrs. Weasley doesn't like Harry having a wand holster that Aurors and some adult wizards and witches wear, but she doesn't think it is her place to scold Hermione and take Harry's present from her. She isn't his mother although it almost feels like that. Also the smile on Harry's face knowing it will disappear make her not act on it. She hopes it will also keep Harry safe from the murderous traitor Sirius Black.
Mrs. Weasley sees Ginny give her a pleading look. Mrs. Weasley says "Harry, we have one surprise left. Harry says "oh really, but this is already too much. I can't ask for more."
Mrs. Weasley sees that Ginny almost is reduced to tears again. She knows Harry doesn't mean to hurt her or at least not intentionally.
Mrs. Weasley says "it is not from us. Ginny made you a present although I did help a bit. Ginny why don't you show Harry."
Ginny tries to look at Harry and is surprised when she sees him smile. Harry looks into her eyes and says "this is a very nice surprise, Ginny. I didn't expect anything but you made something special for me, right?"
Ginny nods and shows him his present she manages to keep him from seeing when she came down. Harry grabs it and almost rips the wrapping of the presents. He sees that it is knitted mittens, a knitted scarf and a knitted hat that look very warm. They are in Gryffindor colours and all have his initials except the hat. The hat is plain while the mittens and scarf have a Gryffindor badge and the scarf has two lions on both ends just behind the Gryffindor badge.
Harry asks "how did you get the Gryffindor badge?"
Ginny blushes and says "there are from my old robes as I got new ones."
Harry would never do it but gives her a big hug. Before deciding that Hermione also deserves a hug. He offers Mr. Weasley, Ron and the twins a hand. Percy doesn't seem to notice as he is still reading his book. He hugs Mrs. Weasley. He wants to let go soon, but Mrs. Weasley doesn't. It is clear to see that Hermione and Ginny get the biggest hug and the only reason Mrs. Weasley got a long hug is that she holds him until she almost chokes him.
When she lets go Harry gasped for air. He got pushed between her large breasts but Harry notice it doesn't feel any near as good as it does with Nymfie or Andi. Neither does it with Hermione although with Hermione he feels her breasts against his own chest as does Susan although Susan's breasts are bigger not that he likes Hermione any less, just like with Ginny he barely feels her starting breasts. He thinks that he can like Ginny a lot despite her breasts or not.
Harry takes his seat again but inside is shaking his head and thinks 'no both Hermione and Ginny can be good friends, not one of my supposed wives not that I wouldn't like it if they were but Hermione wouldn't because in the muggle world it is not allowed and Ginny needs someone who knows her and can love her likes she needs and probably wants to be loved. I cannot give that to her and Hermione deserve the same in the least what I also cannot give her.'
For the next hour, they remained to talk at the table until Mrs. Weasley told mostly Ron to go upstairs and start working on his homework or he comes down and do it here, but then she and Mr. Weasley will check up on him. Ron goes upstairs and didn't come down. Mrs. Weasley asks if Hermione and Harry already did their homework and when they said they did she asks if they already looked it over. When they agree again she smiles and says "that is good dears."
She didn't say anything and went to get some tea for Arthur who was talking with Percy about the ministry and the twins were whispering between them. Harry and Hermione were talking about the electives while trying to talk with Ginny about school before when that didn't work they ask how Egypt was while seeing her older brothers.
29th August 1993, Leaky Cauldron, London
It is bedtime and Harry, Hermione and Ginny walk upstairs as Mrs. Weasley told them it is bedtime and should go to their room. Ginny sleeps between Ron and Percy's room and the twin's room directly across from her parents just like at the Burrow.
Harry stands for his door and asks "are you alright from here, Ginny?"
Ginny nods and somehow without stammering mumbles "I am good my room is just around the corner."
Harry says "that is good. Also, I got a present for you for your Birthday, your last Birthday and something I hope you like although I may remind you of last school year."
Ginny asks unbelievable "really?"
Harry nods and says "yes, but if you don't mind I will give it to you tomorrow morning,"
Ginny nods and gives him a big hug even bigger than her mother and it also feels so much better. When she lets go of what felt like it has been more hours but probably was only a few minutes she says "goodnight Harry."
She almost skips to her room, she gives Hermione a small goodnight but doesn't hug her or wait for her answer.
Harry says goodnight to Hermione and sweet dreams and Hermione returns with a big smile. Harry wonders why.
29th August 1993, Harry's room, Leaky Cauldron, London
Harry let Hedwig jump on her perch from his shoulder while Athena slithers down his right arm over his chest to his legs. As she isn't long she doesn't have any trouble with the wand holster. Harry put his knife on his left leg, the Heir Potter belt with the knives and his wand holster on the desk. The wand holster seems easy to remove. He removes his wand from his wand holster and places his wand on the bedside table before he dresses for bed and removes his glasses as he lies down.
As he thinks about Susan, Hermione and to his own surprise Ginny, he falls in asleep with a bit smile on his face.
Let's end here for now. In the next chapter, we see Ginny's presents, her reactions, her parents' reaction and see the train ride. If words allow it the whole train ride and maybe even a part of the first day of classes.
