Chapter 18 A new year begins

1st September 1993, Director of DMLE office, Level 2, Ministry of Magic

It is barely 11:15 AM when Nymfie walks into the office of Director Bones. Amelia is clearly waiting for her.

Amelia says "I expect it went off without a problem."

Nymfie nods and says "Yes, Director Bones. There was no problem at all."

Nymfie tried to sound confident like an Auror even though she is a Trainee. Inside she is very sad as she misses Harry so much. When she was on assignment to shadow him she could at least see him.

Amelia asks "Is there something you need to report when you shadowed him in the Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley?"

Nymfie says "Not that you should know as Director Bones as Sirius didn't appear not even as Padfoot and Harry was under no immediate threat."

Amelia notices what Tonks says and asks "Is there I should know as Susan's Guardian as Amelia Bones?"

Tonks says to try to not act mad or show she is mad "I think so. After the meeting where we discovers Padfoot and Harry and Susan completed the marriage contract, we went to Diagon Alley. Inside Diagon Alley, there is a jewellery shop. We went inside as he made some girls sad so Mom and Padfoot suggested getting them some jewellery as girls like it and will probably cherish it as it will be their first jewellery. Eventually, he ended up with multiple necklaces and gave me this bracelet."

Tonks shows the bracelet she hasn't taken off since she got it. Amelia sees that Tonks really loves the bracelet and it looks from very good material. Amelia wonders who the smith was as it looks very finely made.

Tonks sees Amelia not responding. She says "On the bracelet and the necklaces are protection runes mostly against mind magic. As he got quite a lot I think Susan will get one too. I just think you should know. Also, what I know from Harry he will not do it to get in Susan's panties so to speak. He wouldn't want anything in return although I wonder if Susan would accept that though as the necklaces look very nice and I can understand if she wants to reward Harry when he gives it to her."

Amelia says "If the necklaces are just as finely made as your bracelets Susan will surely love it. I just hope that she doesn't lose her mind with wanting to like you said 'reward' Harry. She will be extremely happy almost as happy as when I told her about the marriage contract she has with Harry."

Tonks's smile grew as she says "It is as finely made as my bracelet….. it is even finer as the necklaces are from goblin smiths mine is from a human metalsmith who is seen as the best from Europe if not the world according to the women in the store."

Amelia just nods as she can only imagine getting a gift especially jewellery from the man you love if you are in a relationship. She never had the experience as the only man she loved was sent to Azkaban. She and Sirius flirted a lot and he never gave her a gift. They never became a couple because of You-Know-Who's reign of terror and as Aurors your life was in danger even more than normal especially those who had the power and skills to become hitwizards or hitwitches. There were a few hitwizards and hitwitches who didn't have the power or skill but managed to train themselves to reach the skill if they didn't manage to increase their power through training.

Tonks says "Director Bones, I was wondering if it isn't a good idea to let a few very trusted Aurors know that Sirius is in fact innocent and I sacrifice myself to look for Sirius's trial and conviction in our archive to make sure he speaks the truth. I think he does."

Amelia says "Maybe you are right, Auror Trainee Tonks. I fully agree that Sirius did speak the truth. Harry was and is still very important to Sirius. He would rather die than betray James, Lily and Harry of that I have no doubt. Do you have any idea who we should tell? I have a few ideas but as you want to and I think it may be for the best I was wondering if you have thought about who you thought."

Tonks says "I did, I was at least thinking about Master Auror Moody, Senior Auror and squad leader Shacklebolt and Hestia. I mean Hestia and I were dorm mates in Hufflepuff I think if I am there when we inform them she will trust me as a fellow Hufflepuff as are you. Master Auror Moody who is my mentor as you know will trust and respect you enough to not dismiss it outright The same I think is for Senior Auror and Squad Leader Shacklebolt. I don't know any other good enough. I only know Senior Auror and Squad Leader Shacklebolt because Master Auror Moody talks about him a lot and seems to respect him. Also, the training he gave, the small operation where he was the boss or one of the Squad Leaders and he did assist Master Auror Moody in training me. I hope Master Auror Moody would consider to also train Hestia even if it is only a little. I think everyone could benefit from his experience and paranoid mind with the phrase he says every day many times, so much I lost count 'constant vigilance'."

Amelia gives a small smile and says "It seems we had the same idea besides Auror Trainee Hestia Jones. It seems you only want Aurors you can fully trust or at least listen to and do not tell anyone else. I guess we can do that, but we need to wait until at least the 5th of September as until then all of you need to work. I can ask Kingsley and Moody to come here one Sunday and have you here as Hestia if you are sure."

"As it will be the weekend most of the teachers will be around the castle so if the Dementors break the rules, and if you ask me it is only a matter of time, before the teachers will be ready to protect the students and if needed force the Dementors back to the borders. I expect most of them to be strong enough to contain multiple Dementors and force enough of them back to the border of Hogwarts when the Aurors should notice and may even notice when Dementors enter the ground of Hogwarts what every Auror know is forbidden."

Tonks doesn't say anything as she is happy that Amelia agrees with her and her mother that it would be helpful to have a trustworthy Auror on their side to prevent from Sirius being kissed….. well getting kissed by a Dementor. Tonks knows that Amelia would love nothing more to get Sirius kissed by her.

Amelia continues "Auror Trainee Tonks for now, you will be posted at the Hogwarts Border patrolling and, of course, for the chance Sirius does something stupid which is also a matter of time although I would take longer than during Hogwarts and shortly after, he is a rash Gryffindor after all."

Tonks smiles. She says "he is if I must believe some of the stories before Halloween 1981 when I visited Cousin James and Lily when Sirius was present although Lily also told me some things about James and Sirius."

Amelia says "You can better go Auror Trainee Tonks. You may need a couple of hours before the Hogwarts Express arrive at Hogsmeade station to prepare and get your orders. Senior Auror and Squad Leader Shacklebolt will be in charge from 3 pm today. You can go with him or be there before the Hogwarts Express arrive which should be at 6:30 pm on the dot. Kingsley should be here in the Auror Office right now."

Tonks stands up and says "I will find him, Boss. If I don't find him I will report to the Aurors at the Hogwarts border after Senior Auror and Squad Leader Shacklebolt have taken control."

Amelia nods before looking at some documents at the desk. Tonks knows she is dismissed and leaves the room looking for Kingsley before asking Kingsley if she can go home for a bit mostly to give her mother the bill from the Leaky Cauldron of Harry and Hermione so her mother can pay.

1st September 1993, Living Room, House Tonks

Andi almost needed to stun Sirius to prevent him leave the House and see Harry off even if it was only on the muggle side at King's Cross station.

Andi says "I know you will head to Hogwarts soon. I think we can better have that talk I wanted to have. It seems we have one problem less now Harry knows he is Heir Black. It may even benefit him that he also wears the Heir Black ring beside the Heir Potter ring."

Sirius says "Yes, I wanted to wait with Heir Black, not to have a chance to have my own children although I hope I still can with Amy."

Andi sends a small stinging curse at Sirius as she sees the goofy smile appear on his face. When the first one didn't work Andi send two in rapid succession which make Sirius jump up.

Andi says "Think about her on your own time."

Sirius says "This in my own time. Andi. This is the first time I can think about her without the Dementors driving the thoughts away or transforming them into bad thoughts. Harry is safe now on his way to Hogwarts so I have some time for my own before I also that way. Also, first I must send the Greengrasses a letter. Andi, if you don't mind I would like to invite them here."

Andi says "I guess that will be alright. I understand you want it here and not in their house. Don't think it would be wise to have Amelia and Dora here. In that way Lord and Lady Greengrass will know you talk the truth and aren't a threat like the Daily Prophet portray you although it isn't that difficult with the picture."

Sirius says "I can explain that picture. It was the moment I understood that I was sent to Azkaban as I was still grieving and wanted to be there for Harry and James and Lily's funeral."

Andi says "They are buried in Godric's Hollow by their request, just like Ted is."

Sirius says "It wasn't their request although they were considering it. They were considering rebuilding the Potter Manor after the war and restoring the cemetery they have for family, family friends/ Allies if they require so and their faithful house elves if they want so on the ground. Charlus and Dorea also lie there. I was there for their funeral. The small time we had with their Portraits did lessen the pain and made us focus back on the war."

Andi asks "Another one of Dumbledore's mechanics?"

Sirius shrugs "I don't know. Also, I don't know what would be the point. The only thing I can think of is to make sure Harry will never find out he has a manor although the manor is damaged if not destroyed at this moment. I think Dumbledore would never have Harry visit James and Lily's grave but maybe it was just a precaution or to show something possible to not rouse suspicion by their favourite teachers like Minnie or Professor Flitwick if he didn't do anything."

Andi grabs some documents and says "According to the statement the Manor is destroyed. I think it happened as revenge for the attack that failed to kill Charlus, Dorea, James and Lily. Although it was a blow for all of us with Charlus and Dorea killed James and Lily survived and even took out a lot of the Death Eaters where many were inner circle Death Eaters of You-Know-Who….. I mean Voldemort."

Sirius says "I guess they would. Knowing Lily she would have probably made sure the manor was charmed to its very foundation and made sure that every important thing inside the manor if not the whole manor. I think most of the manor was empty and in storage or on another property from House Potter. All the furniture and especially the paintings, books especially those made by Potter, Peverells or their Allies, the so-called family grimoire and of course, photobooks were removed from the Potter manor. When I say everything I literally mean everything."

Andi nods and says "Knowing Lily she did and James would no doubt help her. Maybe when you don't get kissed by Dementors when they see you we can look for the properties that are empty and what we remember to be from House Potter we can take a look. I think Harry would be very happy if we find those things, especially the portraits."

Sirius says "Yes, although we mustn't tell him for the chance we don't find anything or the Death Eaters have found it. We must also think that there may be portraits in the Potter family vault. I have seen some objects in the Potter family vault that could be portraits but they were covered. As we had more important businesses I decided to not mention it when Harry was here for the chance he heard us and it will feel like we kept things hidden. I already hide he has a second wife although this one is for House Black. Also as it is Astoria Greengrass the youngest and younger sister of Harry's friend Daphne I would like Jacob and Isabel's input on how to handle this. I know that they are quite traditional although not like the stuck-up purebloods. As this is their youngest I want them to have a say on how to go forward."

Andi asks "What is your plan?"

Sirius says "I have been thinking about it and I think we need to wait at least one year to let her get used to Hogwarts and also that I can prepare Harry that he is betrothed to an 11-year-old even though he is only two years older. It may not make a big difference but I hope by the time I need to tell them she will be 12 if not 13. I have no intention to keep it that long a secret but if Jacob and Isabel insist I will not object."

Andi says "I understand but I would still object also it depends on which House she will be sorted in. If she becomes a Slytherin we may need to rethink the decision about a private room. Also, Amelia must notify Susan that Harry will not only have her in his room but also Astoria."

Sirius says "I guess you are right, but I think we first need to know Jacob and Isabel's opinion. I will send them a letter for …."

Andi says "Try the 4th of September. I am on call for Saturday, but only in the most extreme cases. Also as most children are at Hogwarts it is not very busy in my field of expertise. During the school year, I sometimes get asked for the rapid response unit, most of the time when the Aurors get a dangerous and important mission."

"They have their own healers although it is all men last time I checked and as there is no name for a wizard that isn't a healer, they are called healers but can only fix the small injuries for the bigger injuries they call the rapid respond squad which consist of only fully licensed healers men and women. Some say it is the best St. Mungo's has to offer, who don't have a ward under their care at that moment."

Sirius says "Alright, the 4th of September it is."

Andi calls for Dobby, who still looks sad, to get them some ink, quill and parchment. Andi or Sirius can get it themselves but Andi hopes to have Dobby help them it will lessen the sadness of Dobby not going to Hogwarts to help Harry, his new master.

After Sirius is done Andi says "Now, we just need to get an owl to send it. I will go to the post office in Diagon Alley in a moment."

Even before Sirius can give Andi the letter they hear a tap at the window. There they see a familiar-looking owl. It is Hedwig, but she isn't completely white instead she has the same markings as she had in Gringotts with one black lightning bolt on the front with black lines that look like glasses around her eyes.

Andi opens the window and expects Hedwig to fly to the table and wait for the letter and maybe want a scratch. However, Hedwig doesn't wait to fly in and grab the letter. She immediately flies out of the window. Sirius and Andi almost run to the window and look for Hedwig. Hedwig flies towards the west although she flies so fast you can barely see her. It is almost like the apparate from one place to another. A little over a minute Hedwig is nothing but a small black dot far away from the Tonks House.

Sirius says "I didn't expect that."

Andi says "Yes. I wonder why she was here and not flying towards Hogwarts as she was supposed to do."

Sirius nods and says "Yes and not only that. When Harry let her out of her cage to fly ahead I am completely sure Hedwig didn't have those markings. I must ask Harry as soon as I see him again."

Andi want to disagree as it would be dangerous for Sirius, but she knew Sirius would do that and cannot discourage him to do so. Also, she has no idea why Hedwig has them and without any idea she cannot research it as she doesn't know where to start. Sure, King Ragnarok talked about a familiar bond but she has never heard of it. She is also sure she has never seen a book or read a book that mentioned it. She will trust Harry to tell her eventually she just hopes it doesn't take too long as Harry doesn't trust people easily although she thinks she made good progress on Harry trusting her(, Dora and Sirius).

1st September 1993, Slytherin Common Room, Hogwarts

Many had a good evening, it was a different story in Slytherin. Every year at the start of the year the first years get a lesson, a horrible lesson. They get shown what is expected of them.

Every year the upper years pick a girl, normally not below the fifth year although a fourth year isn't uncommon and if possible a girl who hasn't been used before to show the first year it is futile to resist. This year was different, however, they decide to use a third-year girl.

The only girls who haven't been used in the upper years have a strong House, are the betrothed to an Heir of a strong House, and are forbidden to be touched by their husband although that is only for purebloods. Half-bloods are fair game unless it is a highly respected half-blood House, was in You-Know-Who's service or one of the powerful Houses (including having a high rank in You-Know-Who's force maybe even his inner circle) who wants to have the girls as his mistress and wants to be first can protect the half-blood girls.

Or you are friends with a powerful House as Tracey Davis is. She is a half-blood but she is best friends with Daphne Greengrass and while House Greengrass was neutral in the last war it did make it a powerful House even more than it already was. Tracey Davis enjoys House Greengrass protection as Daphne does and also Astoria.

Pansy is protected by her marriage contract with Draco Malfoy and Millicent as pureblood and her good friendship with Pansy gives her Malfoy's protection.

One girl remains and that is Lilian Moon. They grabbed her before she was even halfway through the common room. She was stripped and threatened. Pansy tries to keep her face straight when she says "Yes, Prince of Slytherin, please show it and help Lilian. I will do what I promised."

Draco says "Fine, I will but you better do so or she would be targeted tomorrow. Every free period you better be ready to serve me."

Pansy nods. Draco stands up and walk to the prefect who was ready to slam himself into Lilian's pussy. Right before it happened Draco shouted at him to stop. They whisper and it seems House Malfoy demands respect. The Prefect says "Fine, but this will be the only time. Your betrothed is safe as is her friend and this cunt that is her friend. The first and second years are off limits like Professor Snape said, but that means the next one you intervene you better make her your mistress as I know this one will not be."

Draco nods and walks back to his seat. The prefect says "Let her go guys. I think is it better we show the firsties what happens with a reluctant girl who already is used like the cunts they are, before using a willing girl."

The upper Slytherin boys don't like it but don't question it as their fathers never did when You-Know-Who or his top lieutenant ordered. Not that they heard Draco and Prefect's conversation being too busy molesting Lilian. She falls to the floor and Pansy immediately walks to her and put her robe around Lilian before starting to lead her to their dorm followed by Millicent and quickly Daphne and Tracey.

Daphne wanted to take Astoria with her but the firsties and the second years need to watch the whole 'show', how the upper years like to call it or at least the seventh-year Prefect from her first year did, as second years know what going on and will not be shocked as the first years. They need to watch to learn what guys like for when their time comes they know what to do as receive the training with at least acceptable knowledge.

With the word training, it made it seems even worse as they are seen as pets who need the training to please their masters. All the girls know that is what they are seen like and the guys think is their purpose and are probably stupid enough to believe that is why women exist. That they have magic is just to make sure that their children will have magic and should not use magic after they managed to control it (after OWLs fifth year) or after Hogwarts if they finished all seven years unless it is to look good for their husband (and as the guys see themselves their master).

Daphne seeing Lilian almost being raped makes her almost give in to her mind to give herself up to Harry. She feels it is the right thing to do, but to lose all control she has and tried to gather. It scares her although not as much as what she almost witnessed. Also with Malfoy contracting her dad for a marriage contract, she knows it will probably be a matter of time before her House lose its meaning in House Slytherin. Her House is the only thing that is protecting her and Tracey now and Astoria in the future. Harry is their way out of the snake pit and the danger of being assaulted although she still needs to watch her back when she walks around Hogwarts, at least she doesn't need to be afraid if she enters the private room she gets even though she will share it with Harry … and Susan. Daphne still can't forget what she saw at the beginning of the train ride. Susan Bones kisses Harry Potter and calls Harry her Lord husband, Lord Bones and her Harry. Maybe she is the reason Harry did act like a pureblood Heir which he is by law although he isn't as arrogant and pretentious as the Heirs of most pureblood Houses, mostly the Heir in Slytherin. Still, there are some other arrogant and pretentious Heirs in the other Houses of Hogwarts but not as many as Slytherin.

1st September 1993, Slytherin third-year girls dormitory, Hogwarts

Lilian is shaking and they all hug her hoping it will help her. Unfortunately, it doesn't until Lilian feels it is all women and not the males who hold her in the Common Room. When they didn't start to molest her Lilian can't help but start crying her eyes out. They all fell asleep in Lilian's bed.

2nd September 1993, The third-year boy dormitory, Hogwarts

Harry is awake early and decided that this is a good opportunity to run. Harry doesn't know why but he has a lot of energy despite the little sleep he had although waking up early is nothing new when he lived with his relatives. When he was with his family he didn't need to wake up early even though he still did. Still, he would mostly stay in his bed until he smelled the breakfast or Sirius came to wake him up as Padfoot.

He sees that Athena is on his chest. He slowly sis to wake her up if she is asleep. Soon she uncoils and slithers to his side. Harry gets out of bed. He gathers some training clothes and sis he will be back soon.

Harry changes clothes in the bathroom and as promised soon returned. Athena slithers to him and up his legs until she is around his left arm again. Harry silently leaves the dorm and as expected the Common Room is empty even though the fireplace has a small fire going. It takes a good part of half an hour before he steps onto the grounds. He could have been sooner but he walks and didn't run.

2nd September 1993, Hogwarts grounds

Harry want to start to run, however, before he could he got a feeling to wait. Harry waits for barely a few minutes when he knows why. From the direction of the Owlery Hedwig flies towards him. She lands on his right shoulder and starts pushing her head against Harry's head in affection.

After almost five minutes Hedwig stops and starts to fly around Harry. Harry knows what she wants and he starts running. Hedwig flies around him when he does while Athena just keeps around his arm. She doesn't like the movement but being close to Harry makes it more than up for it in her mind.

Harry runs around the grounds and the Black Lake. He wants to run around the lake but that would mean he would be very close to the border where the Dementors are. He decides to run to the Quidditch pitch, along the edge of the Black Lake to Hagrid's cabin, and the greenhouses before he goes back. However, even before he reached Hagrid's cabin after running to the Quidditch Pitch run one lap in the Quidditch Harry is exhausted and can't continue not even if his life depended on it.

He decides to continue the rest of his way walking and decides that after the Greenhouse he will walk to the Owlery to bring Hedwig back. As soon as they are at the Greenhouses Hedwig lands on his right shoulder and waits for Harry to bring her to the Owlery.

When he reaches Hogwarts again he knows he needs to hurry to show the others Athena and to take the potion Andi made.

2nd September 1993, The Third Year boy dormitory, Gryffindor Tower

When he walks in he sees that everyone but Ron is awake. He didn't need to look at Ron's bed as he is assaulted by the noise he is familiar with since the first night in Hogwarts, Ron's snoring if you can call it that.

He sees that the others are already dressed in the Hogwarts Uniform. He decides to tell them everything except that Athena is the basilisk or where he found her as Dean will certainly it is not common in Britain to find a snake in muggle neighbourhoods, certainly not the species of snake Athena is.

Harry says "Guys, before you go I want to let you know something. I will not beat around the bust. I have a snake and she is called Athena. According to the Hogwarts charter as I can talk to snakes I am allowed to have one snake besides Hedwig as a companion which also means she will stay here in the dorm. She will not attack anyone unless it is to defend herself."

Harry didn't expect what happened next. They look wide-eyed at Harry before Seamus says "Wicked. Where is she?"

Harry asks Athena to show herself in Parseltongue. Athena appears with her head on his shoulder.

Dean says "Who that is amazing. Will she be with you all the time?"

Harry says "I guess so. You can pet her if you like."

Seamus and Dean not minding it is a snake walk to Harry.

Harry says "Don't mind her tongue that is how she will get to know you."

Seamus and Dean nod. First is Seamus who gently pet her. Athena sis.

Harry says "Seamus try with your finger under her mouth she prefers that instead of how you pet other animals."

Seamus nods and does as Harry said. Athena immediately sisses pleased. After Seamus Dean wants to pet her but almost jumps to the ceiling when he feels her tongue. He is immediately very nervous.

Harry asks "Is it alright, Dean? If you don't want to you don't have to."

Dean shakes his head and says "No, I need to do this. I want to do this."

Harry says "Alright, if you are sure."

Dean nods and after what seems like minutes Dean pets Athena. Athena is happy about the petting she gets but is also sad as she understands that Dean is a muggleborn. Not by smell or anything but by his behaviour.

Dean is pleased with himself. Seamus asks "Neville, why aren't you surprised and don't you want to do it?"

Neville says "I already know. I met Athena in the Hogwarts Express. I think Harry would have let you meet her last night if he went with us when we went to bed."

Harry says "Yeah, Neville is right."

Harry looks at Ron and says "I guess I have to wake up Ron again. Fortunately, I can use magic now."

Harry flicks his wrist and the wand is in his hand. He opens the curtains and cast "Rictusempra."

Ron remains sleeping. Harry tries to do it again, trying to use more power. He cast again and this time Ron falls out of bed laughing although it still takes almost a minute before he wakes and stands up.

Ron asks "What was that for?"

Harry says "I couldn't wake you up otherwise. You need to hurry breakfast i…..."

It seems to say breakfast makes Ron hurry up. Within 5 minutes Ron has showered and dressed in his Hogwarts uniform. His hair is still wet when he says "We need to hurry or we won't get breakfast."

All the others roll their eyes but follow him at a decent pace although that is too slow for Ron. Before they even reach the top of the stairs to the Common Room Ron is already in the Common Room which is three stairs down.

2nd September 1993, Gryffindor Common Room, Hogwarts

As soon as they walk the last stair down into the Common Room Ron is waiting for them impatiently. When they take the last step down Ron says "Finally, come on."

Ron turns around and runs to the entrance and immediately leaves expecting them to follow him with his pace.

Harry sees Hermione and walks to her. He says "Good morning, Hermione."

Hermione looks up at him with a big smile. She replies "Good morning Harry. I hope you slept well."

Harry nods and says "I did surprisingly well. I was tired and I guess I forgot to take off the wand holster. I didn't even feel that I was still wearing it and also I felt right when I noticed this morning I didn't take it off."

Harry doesn't mention he didn't forget to remove the Potter Heir belt but did forget the knife attached to his left leg. He can't remember why the holster and the knife didn't bother him when he dressed for bed. He remembers seeing them but he didn't once think he should remove them. He knows he put the Potter belt in his trunk to not let the others see until it was necessary.

He thinks he should tell Susan about the wand holster, the Potter Heir belt and the extra knife on his left leg. Also, he should show her the Heir Potter ring. He also wonders if she wears the Heiress Bones ring.

Before he can dwell on it he feels someone at his side and looks. He sees Ginny with a small smile. He says "Good morning, Ginny."

Ginny's eyes light up and she says "Good morning, Harry."

Harry is surprised that here in the middle of the Common Room Ginny greets him without stuttering although he does notice she is a bit red. He hopes she is feeling alright and that she didn't get any grief for last year.

Hermione says "Let's go downstairs before Ronald ate all the breakfast."

Harry says "I think that would be best."

2nd September 1993, Slytherin third-year girls dormitory, Hogwarts

Daphne is very surprised to wake up in one bed with all the other Slytherin third-year girls with Lilian in the middle of the five-way hug. Daphne isn't very surprised she woke up first. Normally she wakes up as second or third with Lilian being the first and sometimes Pansy. Tracey is always the latest to wake up and sometimes needs to drag her out of bed to wake her up making Millicent wake up fourth even if it is only a minute before Tracey.

Daphne hopes that Astoria isn't as shocked as she was in her first year. She especially hopes that Astoria doesn't see the upper years boy as an empty threat of not telling anyone. Daphne has seen the second night a fourth-year girl tried to tell someone but she was caught by some upper years right before she wanted to do that. She was destroyed, that was the simplest way to say what happened.

It was a wonder she didn't get hurt too much and needed to stay in the Hospital wing. It changed the girl to be submissive and basically a slave. She never refused and barely talked anymore. Daphne didn't know her well enough to know if she was smarter than she now is but it was brutal what happened. After they threatened if she tries again or refuse them her family might have an accident or their wealth will disappear. Maybe that is the reason she didn't refuse anymore Daphne thought. She is happy her House has enough power and wealth to protect her, Astoria and Tracey in addition.

When finally wake up Daphne is sad to see that while Lilian starts to get ready for school this isn't Lilian or like she wants to be called Lily she had got to know and even had a friendship with the first two years. When they walked through the Common Room to breakfast in the Great Hall it almost broke Daphne to see Lilian's bright and happy nature, even if she was a bit too outgoing for a Slytherin although Tracey is too, being all but gone. It looks like she, Lilian Moon, is gone. She is still here but it just isn't her.

2nd September 1993, The Great Hall, Hogwarts

Everyone is in the Great Hall as supposed to be on the first day of class. There are still a lot of people talking with each other except for one table, the Slytherin table except Malfoy who couldn't keep his mouth shut even if his life depended on it.

Daphne didn't say one word as the whole focus was on Harry and the way out of the snake pit. She was so focused she didn't even hear Malfoy and his usual crap. All she could think about was Harry and how to convince him. She had only one answer and that was Susan. She would normally think about Hermione but her being a muggleborn will work against including her love for Harry even if she can't see herself yet.

The gossip mill according to Tracey is that they were already a couple but kept it hidden. Daphne knows it is not true, but there is no denying that they love each other they are just stubborn to see it or at least Hermione is. Daphne would understand that Harry is afraid of how Hermione would react as Daphne's basic knowledge about muggles is that multiple wives aren't common anymore and are heavily frowned upon if not illegal. Hermione will probably curse Harry well into next year if not worse.

Daphne thinks 'Susan needs to talk to Hermione before I do anything. I just hope I can wait long enough for Susan to convince Hermione or at least let Hermione see that Harry will not be like all those other purebloods who are, at best, bastards and that is even without multiple wives or girlfriends. Harry is nowhere close to being a bastard although he may do some stupid and mental things like saving them from a full-grown Mountain Troll as a mere first year. He was risking his life for them. That is not the only way she likes him but she can't deny it helps.'

Daphne barely notices that all the heads of the Houses start to hand out the schedules. She only glance at it and see that it is fuller than last year mostly because of the electives. She sees that the first elective is Care of Magical Creatures by 'Professor' Hagrid. She briefly wonders why Dumbledore gave the post to Hagrid when she realizes that Harry is friends with Hagrid and that he will not be happy if she disrespects Hagrid. She just can't shake the feeling she mustn't displease Harry and one part of her mind doesn't want to as he is still the best chance she got to get out of the snake pit, she and her friends including her little sister.

At the Gryffindor table, Ron slams his head on the table as Potions is with Slytherin again both double periods on Friday the last two periods and Wednesday the first two periods followed by History of Magic which was the worst. If you had a fun or interesting class after Potions it would make the day better that you wouldn't think about Potions class but History of Magic isn't a fun or interesting class at all. Fortunately, they also had History of Magic Monday morning, the first two periods which means you could sleep a bit longer after breakfast….. well everyone except Hermione.

Harry sees that today he will have Defence Against the Dark Arts. He can't wait. After Professor Lupin saves him from the Dementors and even Madam Pomfrey praised him Harry wonders if they finally have a good Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. Also, somehow he feels at ease when he sees him and that was even before the Dementors attack although Professor Lupin was asleep. Harry remembers the headache he got when he heard his name.

He hears Hermione asking why Potions has sometimes only two houses and not all houses. Potions have always been two classes but now some other courses were too and not all the time. Harry looks at his schedule and sees that she is right. Professor McGonagall says this because they will have more advantaged subjects. If something happens with only two houses the Professor can undo it quickly as by transfiguration, spells, charms and curses. Time is of the essence as it can mean no harm or needing Madam Pomfrey if not St. Mungo's. IN Herbology Professor Sprout can lessen injuries and can control the plants which is easier with fewer students that is why some classes only have two Houses. The electives are not as not every one of all the houses follows the same elective.

Before the third years can go get their books she says "Mr. Potter, please wait here."

Hermione immediately stops when she hears that as she wants to stay with Harry. Harry sees that and asks "Hermione, could you grab my books?"

Hermione immediately agrees and almost run upstairs to do what Harry asks her to do. She is happy he needs her to do something for him. As he asks her to do something she wouldn't want to displease him. She doesn't notice how she thinks until she reaches the corridor of their first lesson. She runs down from Gryffindor Tower although it is only a few floors down to their first lesson. When she suddenly notices the thoughts in her head she doesn't stop running until she reaches the door and opens it.

She thinks right before opening the door 'I need to ask Professor McGonagall and Madam Pomfrey but that can wait Harry needs me to bring his books and I also bought supplies like parchment, ink bottles and a new quill. I hope he doesn't mind it took me some longer to get everything… why do I keep thinking like that. I…I….I don't want to displease him. I never want to but why do I feel compelled to do it now? Also, I will feel depressed if I displease him."

2nd September 1993, Transfiguration Classroom, Hogwarts

Professor McGonagall asked Harry to follow her to his classroom as the first lesson on Thursday is Transfiguration with all the third years. Harry guess it will mostly a theoretical lesson and if it is practical it will be on objects or animals provided by Hogwarts. Harry also would never want to transmigrate Hedwig or Athena. Hedwig would probably not like it and Harry isn't sure if it works on Athena being actually the Basilisk. Harry is also afraid it can hurt the animal not only Hedwig and Athena.

When they enter Professor McGonagall says "Please Mr. Potter take a seat."

Harry wonders if he is in trouble although he has no idea for what. He hasn't done anything wrong or at least to his knowledge.

Professor McGonagall sees Harry's confusion and says "Harry, you did nothing wrong. I am wondering if you have Athena with you."

Harry says "Yes, she is. I just asked her to be hidden for breakfast."

Professor McGonagall understands. She asks "Does anyone else know about Athena?"

Harry says "Yes. Susan knows of course as does Hermione, Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy and Neville. This morning I showed Athena to Seamus and Dean. I think that are the ones that know about them if you don't count Padfoot, Andi, Madam Bones, Mr. Weasley and Mrs. Weasley. I am not sure if Professor Lupin knows although he was in the compartment when the Dementor came."

Professor McGonagall nods and says "Ah yes, Professor Lupin mentioned Athena, but as she didn't act dangerous or threatening to anyone he didn't do anything. If Athena was a danger he would have at least contained her."

"Harry, I asked you to come here with me as I think it would be best if you show Athena to all the third years. You don't have to stand in front of the class and make her show herself. I mean more natural like having her on your desk. How she wants to be I don't really mind as long as she doesn't interrupt you spellcasting when we have a practical lesson. Today, it won't be as it will be a rehearsal from the lesson near the end of last year and what you should have been reading in the summer including the little homework I gave."

Harry says "I guess you are right, Professor McGonagall. I think it will be best if Hermione or Neville will sit with me as Ron doesn't like Athena I imagine."

Professor McGonagall looks surprised and says "Why would that be, Harry? Shouldn't Mr. Weasley have no problem with Athena as it is your snake?"

Harry says "I guess so, but when the Weasleys came to the Leaky Cauldron Hermione went upstairs as she needed to do something. However, she wasn't done with her breakfast and Ron wanted to eat it. I tried to stop him but he wouldn't so I asked Athena to protect her breakfast from anyone but Hermione. First I needed to convince Mrs. Weasley that Athena wasn't dangerous which was difficult as Athena barely bit Ron a few times but I asked her to pretend to bite anyone who tries but miss accidently if possible and unless they went too close what Ron almost did if it wasn't for Mr. Weasley. Mrs. Weasley wasn't convinced until Hermione came back who could eat from her plate and even petted Athena and Mr. Weasley trusted me enough to prevent Mrs. Weasley from removing Athena."

Professor McGonagall says "I see. Well, that means Miss Granger or Mr. Longbottom should be here first. I imagine you don't want Miss Bones to sit with you."

Harry blushes a bit and says "It is not that I don't want Susan to, but not to arouse any suspicion it is better if she does not especially as she wanted to sit with me in the Hogwarts Express, I think that Hermione and Ginny may think something is going if I sit with her in class. Neville maybe too."

Professor McGonagall says "Ah yes, Miss Granger and Miss Weasley have a good set of brains and are quite observant. I think you are quite right about Mr. Longbottom."

Professor McGonagall thinks 'I wonder if Mr. Longbottom as Mr. Weasley does although I wonder if you do Harry as boys are notoriously thick around your age and for a few years too.'

Before they can say anything the door opens with an out-of-breath Hermione who is red from blushing although Harry thinks it is because she has run down after she grabbed the books he needs including parchment, ink and a new quill.

Professor McGonagall inside her mind smiles as this can be good for Harry and Hermione especially as Lily's relationship with James was good for her. Professor McGonagall knows if she can help Harry just like her father despite a few of Lily's traits Hermione and his other wives will be very happy.

She says "Ah Miss Granger. I am glad you are here first. As I advised Mr. Potter to let Athena out during class starting with my class, I think with you next to Mr. Potter and Athena while not being afraid of her, if you are not afraid that is, will probably help Hogwarts accept Athena to a certain extent."

Hermione says "I trust Athena because I trust Harry, Professor McGonagall. If you want me to sit next to Harry to show the others that Athena is trustworthy I won't mind."

Professor McGonagall can just pretend to show a smug and mischievous smile before letting out a large laugh because sitting next to Harry is a big burden.

Hermione walks to the desk and asks "Do you mind if I sit here, Harry?"

Harry looks up at her and smiles at her. Professor McGonagall can't suppress a big smile as she sees Hermione need to grab the table to not fall to her knees.

Harry says "I don't mind. Come sit, Hermione."

Hermione immediately does what Harry says. She says "Harry, I got you books and what supplies here. I hope you don't mind it took some longer time than expected."

Harry says "I don't mind, Hermione."

Harry opens the bag and says " I am happy you thought further than the books and got me some parchment, ink bottles and one of my new quills."

Hermione smiles very brightly that Professor McGonagall is completely sure that Hermione is found or she will eat her Animagus form and her own wand if she isn't. She thinks it is time to talk with Hermione in the coming weekend as Hermione probably needs some time to process it as Professor McGonagall knows it can be really hard for muggleborn witches to understand if they are found or close to being found. Muggleborn wizards who find witches have a much easier time accepting it especially if the witches are desirable.

She can't think much longer as the first students start walking in and taking a seat. She notices that Susan doesn't seem too happy that Hermione sits next to Harry although as Harry told her and she has seen at the end of the meeting they want to keep the betrothal a secret or at least Harry wants that. Now she thinks about it she thinks Susan may also be found. Maybe it is an idea to have Hermione and Susan both come so Susan can admit she is also found which may help in the whole that Harry can have multiple wives thing. Maybe it will make Hermione not curse Harry and be miffed at the wizarding world in general which is something Lily did a lot for certain things including Harry that James could have more wives after Lily as he always told her she was his first love, not that Lily agreed to other women although it seems James didn't mind she didn't agree to show that she really was his love and he was happy with only her, she was more than enough.

When everyone has taken a seat Professor McGonagall starts the lesson and at the end of the lesson turns in their summer homework.

After almost 15 minutes Professor McGonagall catch Harry's eyes and gives a small almost unnoticeable nod. Harry immediately understands and sis lowly for Athena to come out. As Harry feels Athena moving he sis that she must not attack anyone and just stay calm as he wants to show her to them so no one will be afraid or put her in danger as they will know of her as well before the whole school will know very soon because news travels fast or in the case, the rumour mill will be at full speed hearing he has a snake with him as a Gryffindor.

It takes a couple of minutes before the first students start to notice. Harry sees that and decides to pet Athena to make sure she stays calm also Harry hopes it makes the others see that Athena is not dangerous. The first ones who notice besides Hermione, who every couple of seconds looks at Harry, are Susan, Daphne and Tracey who also look at Harry a lot almost as much as Hermione although Susan does it more and also more openly. Hannah notices Susan's stares at Harry and tries to get her attention which she manages but only for a couple of seconds before Susan stares at Harry again.

After a couple of times, Hannah rolls her eyes and doesn't try to anymore. She must admit Harry looks better than the previous years but she has her eye on another Heir of a Most Ancient and Most Noble House even though Hannah doesn't care about his House he could be a muggleborn and she would still have her eye on him.

Him being the Heir of a Most Ancient and Most Noble House does complicate things but she would bear it for him just like Susan will for Harry, Hannah knows that. Hannah also knows while she needs to bear much Susan needs to bear so much more as Harry is the only one left of his House and is the-boy-who-lived. She feels a bit bad for believing Ernie last year about Harry being the Heir of Slytherin.

Suddenly Millicent Bulstrode, a Slytherin, shouts "PROFESSOR MCGONAGALL, HA…. POTTER HAVE A SNAKE ON HIS DESK."

Millicent is happy none seemed to nothing her slip up as everyone was surprised at her scream while she pointed at Harry. Athena immediately took aggressive but defensive behaviour.

Professor McGonagall didn't hope that all the attention went to Athena at once and hoped that slowly seeing Athena was whispered throughout her class until everyone knew in the class and maybe then someone would mention it out loud.

Professor McGonagall decide she would pretend she didn't know. She walks to Harry and says "Ah yes, Miss Bulstrode I see. Mr. Potter, can you explain why you have a snake?"

Harry managed to calm Athena down a bit but he felt that Athena isn't completely calm as she was before Millicent shouted.

Harry says "Of course, Professor McGonagall. This is my snake, I call her Athena."

Before again can comment Professor McGonagall says "And you still have your owl?"

Harry nods and says "Yes, I still have Hedwig."

Eloise Midgen, a Hufflepuff and fellow third-year asks "But can't you only have one animal? Also, a snake is not on the list of allowed animals."

Many people agree and wonder why Harry can have a snake and an owl. Professor McGonagall who stands in front of Harry's desk sees that Hermione starts to get mad on Harry's behalf, no doubt. If she wasn't sure before she now is completely sure Hermione is found.

Professor McGonagall asks "Mr. Potter, you think this is allowed?"

Harry nods and says "I know it is, Professor McGonagall."

Professor McGonagall says "Why don't you go to the front of the class with your snake and you can explain."

Harry says "Sure, Professor McGonagall."

Harry sis Athena to slither up his arm which she happily does. Harry feels Athena calm down more.

When Harry stands at the front of class he can see the big smile of Malfoy. Harry knows that Malfoy hopes Harry gets punished and if possible ridicules him for his stupid idea he can have a snake, there is no way he can have snake Malfoy thinks.

Harry can't suppress a smug smile shot at Draco. He says "I know normally it isn't possible to have a snake or have two companions that most of you call animals. However, I can have Athena with me as in the Hogwarts charter made by the Founders and can never be changed or altered by anyone not even the Headmaster or the governors of Hogwarts. No one, no matter what power you have, can. Not even the ministry or the Minister himself."

"In the charter, a student who can talk to an animal and can control the animal is allowed to keep the animal with him even if the animal is not one of the allowed animals by the current Headmaster. The highest rank the animal or creature must have is XXX and the owner needs to show to the Care of Magical Creature Professor he or she can take care of the animal. If not that the creature cannot come to school."

"XXXX is allowed in special cases with the Care of Magical Creatures Professor. If the Headmaster has a NEWT in care of Magical Creatures you need the Headmaster's permission and agreement you know how to take care. If the Headmaster has not a NEWT examiner of the ministry must agree that the student take proper care if the Care of Magical Creatures Professor agree he does."

"Magical Creatures with XX or lower are always allowed. However, in all cases, you need to be able to talk to the animal or talk its tongue. As many have seen last year, I am a parseltongue. As Athena is a muggle snake, Harry whispers so nobody can hear "in this form", she doesn't have a classification of the ministry. By no classification, they cannot refuse that I have her to keep with me at all times. I also ordered her to not attack anyone unless it is to defend herself or defend someone I order her to defend or watch out for. You can pet her if you want but I appreciate it if you ask me so I can agree before asking her if she minds. That is why I can keep her with me and also still have my owl, Hedwig."

Malfoy wants to refuse, but one look at Professor McGonagall sees that now is not the right time. However, tomorrow afternoon they have potions together and even Malfoy know that is his best chance to get Harry back.

Professor McGonagall says "Thank you, Mr. Potter. I see you have made sure that you weren't breaking any rules. I give Gryffindor 10 points to make sure not to endanger students. Now I will also look at the charter although I have no doubt you are right. Now, Mr. Potter, please take your seat so we can continue class."

Harry nods and walks back. By his desk he sis Athena to get on the desk again she immediately does. Hermione immediately asks that everyone can hear "May I pet her, Harry?"

Harry says "Of course, Hermione, you always can."

Harry sis to Athena and Athena immediately slithers to Hermione. Athena offers her head and Hermione gives her a scratch under Athena's mouth that Athena likes very much.

Hermione does it without hesitation. She hopes this help Harry and shows what Harry said is true about Athena is no danger. The class went on without a problem, but Harry does see that Malfoy looks with venom in his eyes although it is nothing compared to seeing Hermione do that to him too. Malfoy doesn't seem to notice as he completely focuses on Harry.

Harry didn't notice his betrothed looking at him with desire as he dealt with this how a powerful Lord of a House should do it. She didn't care for the information Harry gave but that is what made it even better as Harry didn't need to show his power to get what he wants, just like he got her. He just knows the things to do. She is happy he didn't use his power as she would probably throw herself at him. Susan blushes and tries to focus on the class but she barely succeeds.

Beside Susan also Daphne looks at Harry. She tries to not show her happiness as she saw Malfoy's face drop when Harry told him no one can change or alter the charter. It was hilarious and showed Harry to be not just the Gryffindor golden boy but also has a good head on his shoulder or at least adequate. Daphne immediately refuses adequate as it is far more than adequate as she must not put Harry down, he will be displeased with her if she did.

Let's end here for now. In the next chapter, we see Tonks arriving as Hogsmeade, we have Lupin's class, Hagrid's class and see Sirius's letter to the Greengrasses. If words allow it we will see the talk with the Greengrasses and more.
