Read and relax
Whitebeard sat in the galley, as the weather was bad. But as they were speaking about where to head and someone mentioned Fishman Island, Ace looked at Trevor. "Oh Trevor, I forgot to tell you. We started a new thing, called Base Assassins." Trevor frowned. "What's that?" Ace hummed. "Assassins that are placed out, some on islands, some in zones. It started with Jacob and Evie, since they refused to leave Fishman Island. And they came up with the idea to just stay there and keep the peace, constantly. And it sounded smart, so now we have people around here and there, who stay there. Like a sort of a mercenary, but we'll stick with assassins." Trevor nodded. "Huh, smart. I like the sound of this. I'm just glad I can stay here, it's so awesome here." Trevor then gave a goofy smile. "And I can be with my Bunny." Trevor then gave a small nod to Mika. "And My Lady." Ace gave a small hiss. "Yeah, I told Daisuke about that, about you and Mika, and he was not happy." Trevor sighed. "I knew he would be upset." Ace nodded. "He was." Whitebeard frowned. "Why did that make him mad?" Ace hummed. "'Cuz, they now care more for each other than just friends or acquaintances. Meaning if something happens to Mika, Trevor will act irrational, or the other way around." Ah, that made sense, and he understood that.
Trevor sighed. "I should speak with him." Ace nodded. "You should." Trevor nodded and gave a breath, and Whitebeard was sure that wouldn't be a good conversation. "Can he say you need to break up?" Trevor half shook his head. "Not completely, but he can demote us, keep us from being the same level, and other things like that." The captain nodded, that also made sense. Ace gave a breath. "One of you will be demoted. We spoke a bit about it." Trevor gave a swear. "Please make it be me." Ace sighed. "We haven't decided. He is also mad he was kept out for so long. You've been a thing for a while now." Trevor nodded. "I know I know, I should have told him right away." Ace nodded. "You should have. He was really not happy." Trevor sighed. "Well, that's on me for hiding it." Ace nodded. "Exactly. We will speak more later, Daisuke and I." Trevor nodded. "Keep me updated." Ace nodded. "We will."
As the day went by, Ace got a request, and it was for Ann, so he headed to change, but mentioned someone called Clay would soon be here, who would be going with Ann on a galla, as Ann's date. When Clay came, he seemed like a good man, a calm man. He was maybe in his late thirties and was good looking. He wondered if this was an assassin too, but didn't really know how to ask, so he didn't. As they were chatting, Clay blinked once when he looked at Marco. "Oh no, I just remembered something." Trevor frowned. "What?" He moved a hand to Marco. "He's with Ac- Ann. And I'm going as her date." Marco nodded. "Yes, but I know it isn't real, yoi." Clay nodded. "True, but this makes me unsure."
Before anyone could retort to that, Ann came in, and when she was next to them, Clay moved a hand out to Marco. "Are you sure he is okay with this?" Ann nodded. "Yes, it is just play." Clay frowned a bit. "I am not sure about this. Maybe I should call it off." Ann blinked, before she gave a stern look. "Are you suggesting I go to this galla alone?" Clay nodded. "I mean-" Ann shook her head, a finger out and pointing at Clay. "No, you listen here. We're going to this gala, you're going to hold my hand, we're going to make out in the middle of the room, before we leave with your hand on my ass! You got it!" Clay blinked. "O-okay." Ann nodded. "Good. Now, I forgot my lipstick, wait here." Ann then left and Clay let out a breath. "I am so scared of her." Whitebeard nodded, they all did, Ace, and Ann, could be scary.
When Ann returned a couple minutes later, she gave Clay a look. "You ready?" Clay nodded. "Yes, I am." He then held his arm out, and Ann took it, before she looked at him. "We'll be back in a few." The captain nodded, and the two disappeared in smoke.
The next hours went by fine, and when 5 had passed, supper being now, the door opened and Clay and Ann came in, Ann having a smile. When they were close to them, they sat down, and he looked at Ann. "How did it go?" He had a feeling it went fine, seeing as Ann looked content. Ann hummed. "It went fine, everything went fine, and it was fun. Clay is staying for a bit. We got 2 targets." Izou frowned a bit. "How did you do that?" Ann hummed again, a hand moving out to Clay. "He is good looking, I am perfect, so we promised them a threesome, which they wanted, then we head to a secluded place, and then they're dead. Pretty easy." Made sense and he was glad it had gone fine.
Clays stayed for an hour more, before he left with the help of Ann, and Ann stayed for the rest of the day, and when the next day came, Ace was back as himself. They were just sitting in the galley and chatting, as the weather was bad. They then somehow got into the topic of wars, and it had Ace humming. "There are rules in war." Whitebeard frowned. "What?" Ace nodded. "Yeah, like weapons that are banned, things you don't do." Izou tilted his head. "So, if someone does wrong, they get captured? By who? The marines?" Ace shook his head. "No, more as in what happens in the aftermath. Wars will always end, and then it does, we check on how they won, how they lost, and if they did too many wrong things, we get even. If they won the war by doing wrong things, they haven't really won. And there are consequences." Izou blinked. "W-what are the consequences?" Ace hummed. "Us. You meet us, the assassins, not a thing you want." That made sense and everyone nodded. "Have you ever done that?" Asked Thatch, and Ace hummed. "Not alone, but I have joined others, to learn how to deal with others." That made sense.
Ace then was there for a bit, before he got an assignment and left. The weather also got better so they headed outside to enjoy the day. Nothing special happened for a while, and after about 8 hours, there was a cloud of black smoke on the deck and Ace appeared, looking annoyed. "Son, are you okay?" Ace gave an upset breath. "No, it is not like I'm standing here holding my own fucking leg!" And Ace held up a leg, a capitated leg, and he now noticed Ace stood on one leg, the other gone and droplets of blood falling to the deck. Thatch gasped. "Your leg!" Ace nodded. "Yes! My leg! Now please!" Ace turned to look at Trevor. "Please get me to the fucking infirmary. I am so annoyed right now." Trevor moved towards Ace. "Well, I'll say. How did this happen?" Ace let out a breath as Trevor moved to his side and Ace moved an arm over Trevor's shoulder and started to jump on his one leg towards the infirmary. "Some ass decided to be an ass and cut it off with a sword. I took his head." Trevor chuckled. "Cool. Wait until Bay sees this." Ace rolled his eyes and then they went around a corner.
As they were gone, Thatch blinked. "He lost his leg…" Whitebeard nodded. "Yes, but I am sure it will be fine." He was sure it would be, Ace would heal fast as usual. The others did still look worried, but after an hour, Ace and Trevor came from around a corner, Ace leaning his leg on a cane, Trevor looking amused. When they got out on deck, Trevor spoke. "Bay thought it was weird he was upright. This is so cool." Ace rolled his eyes. "Not so fun for me." Whitebeard sent a look at Ace. "How did it happen?" Ace sighed. "Some ass hid behind a door and cut my leg off. I took his head though. So we're even." Trevor chuckled. "He died, and you're apparently even." Ace gave Trevor a look. "He should be happy I just took his head." That was probably true.
He sent a look at Ace. "How long will you use the cane?" Ace hummed. "A day I think." Whitebeard nodded, that sounded good, that it wasn't longer. Ace's healing powers were amazing. The day went by fine, a few trying to help Ace move along easier, which he just waved at them for. He was fine, and he knew Ace was. He was amazing with things like this, and he didn't seem to have any issues moving by.
When the next day came, Ace walked fine without the cane, which was good. Ace then left for some work later. But as he was out sitting and enjoying himself, he felt a new presence on the boat, and it was coming towards the main deck. He didn't know who it was, and got his children ready for someone. And a minute later, a stranger came from around a corner, looking calm, and when he was about to ask who he was, his children ready and pointing their weapons at him, he didn't even seem worried or react at all, just looking calm. Before he could ask who it was, Trevor spoke as he lifted his arm. "Corvo! How are you?!" The man, Corvo, hummed. "Fine, I have something for Ace." Trevor nodded. "He is busy right now, stay here, he's back in a few hours." Corvo nodded. "I would like to stay. If that is fine." Trevor chuckled. "I am sure it will be fine, right, Whitebeard?" The captain nodded. "It is fine, he can stay." Trevor smiled and looked at Corvo. "See? You can stay. It is legit awesome here." Corvo shrugged. "Probably. I don't know, I only have his mark, and people seem happy with him." Whitebeard blinked, he had never seen this person before. "You have my mark?" Corvo nodded, and Trevor let out a small gasp. "Oh no, you don't know? Ace hasn't told?" Whitebeard frowned. "Told what?" Trevor chuckled. "We all have your mark, we've had it for years, since you started having a mark you give to people. We stole one and then copied it in the hundreds."
Whitebeard blinked. "What? Why?" He didn't like this information. Trevor moved his hands a bit. "No worries, we don't abuse it. When we find people we rescue, and we are close to one of your islands, we give them a mark and send them off, so they will be accepted and taken care of. We have Shanks' mark as well, and a few others." Whitebeard nodded, that did make sense, and he didn't mind that. "Okay, that sounds good." Trevor nodded. "Yeah, we use it right, I thought Ace would have told you that. or when he did that assignment for you all that time ago, when he got the information on your crewmember and found Sumiko, he sent the rest off with your mark to your island." Whitebeard blinked. He didn't know that, but it made sense. "They never told that, and I am sure they would have been open for rescues anyhow." Corvo hummed. "Probably, but we want to make sure they will be cared for. The reason we send them off with your mark." Made sense too, and he nodded. "Can I see one of these?" He was curious about how identical it was. Corvo moved a hand to his back pocket. "I should have one here." Corvo then took a mark out and handed it to him, and he had to blink. It looked and felt completely identical. "Who makes these?" Corvo shrugged. "A few of us. Ace makes them too. I think anyone above S3 makes them."
That made sense, and Trevor looked at Corvo. "How did that go? Weren't you going to be promoted?" Corvo nodded. "Yes, I am now S4, the bottom of it, but I am S4." Trevor clapped his hands. "Amazing! I am happy to be just S1." Corvo chuckled. "I remember when I finally became an S, it was so awesome. Now, I want to join S5." Trevor nodded. "You probably will, you're good." Whitebeard would have guessed that, seeing how he was S4, meaning he was better than Trevor and Mika. Corvo then stayed with them, and after a few hours, Ace came and he gave a smile to Corvo. "Corvo, what brings you by?" Corvo hummed as he took some papers out and handed it to Ace. "Here, for you." Ace took the papers and read them, nodding as he did. "I'll handle this tomorrow." Corvo nodded. "Sounds perfect." Ace then put the papers away, before he looked at Corvo. "Are you staying long?" Corvo hummed. "I have nothing better to do." It was fine by him if this man wanted to stay a bit, he didn't mind some assassins staying now and then. They had the space.
He then looked at Ace. "Ace, why didn't you tell us you use our mark?" Ace blinked, before he nodded. "Yeah, I should have done that, I honestly forgot about it. But yes, we do use your mark." Whitebeard nodded. It was good to know, but he knew his islands would be welcoming, but he got they wanted to make sure they were taken care of. Trevor then looked at Ace. "How many here could Corvo take on? He was really calm when he appeared." Ace hummed, seeming to think. "I think he could take on most, but not… Whitebeard, Marco, me, Blenheim, maybe Namur, and Haruta. The rest might not make it. Although, if they work together, then it's a different play." Haruta blinked. "Wait, I could win? He was S4." Ace nodded. "Yes, he sucks at speed. You're fast." Corvo rolled his eyes. "I am better at it!" Ace shook his head. "No, you're not. You need to practice. I think it is a miracle you are S4." Corvo rolled his eyes. "You're so negative." Ace hummed. "I am not, just being truthful." Corvo sighed. "Fine." Ace nodded, but didn't say anything.
Corvo stayed for a bit, before he left. He seemed like a nice man. The rest of the day went by fine, and when the next one came, Ace went to handle what Corvo had brought, and while he was gone, them sailing on in new waters, they saw Garp heading towards them, and let him board when he was close enough.
When he boarded, Garp gave a look to him. "Why are you on the alert?" Whitebeard frowned. "What?" Garp took a breath. "The demon is on." Whitebeard frowned, not sure what that meant, but Trevor gave a breathless laugh. "What! It is on?!" Garp nodded. "Scared the crap out of my crew." Trevor gave a breath. "Well, I don't know why." Whitebeard didn't know what they were talking about and when Trevor saw his confused look, he hummed. "Ace can use his powers to create this demon looking smoke demon. It is on and up, Ace is on the alert. I just wonder why." Ah, that made sense, he had seen that demon, and it would be terrifying. Garp gave a look to Trevor. "You don't know? You always know what Ace is doing." Trevor shrugged. "This time I am stumped." Garp hummed. "Not good. I feel this is a bad omen." Trevor nodded. "Yes, especially as Ace isn't even here." Garp blinked. "He's not?" Trevor shook his head. "He's working." Garp blinked again. "Weird." Trevor nodded. "Yup. I will ask him when he gets here. You staying long?" Garp shook his head. "I can't, I can't be long since people might notice this, which would be bad for me." That was true, if the rest of the navy got the news that Garp was civil with them, it might cause something bad for Garp.
Garp sighed. "I wished I could speak to Ace, I have something I want to pass by him." Trevor shrugged. "I can help with that, what is it?" Garp sighed. "I shouldn't, but I could really use Ace's help with this." Trevor nodded. "I won't look." Garp gave a look, before he sighed again and took a file out. "Here, don't peek." Trevor nodded. "I won't." Garp nodded and shared a few more words, before he left. And when he was a bit away, barely visible, Trevor lifted the file and opened it, which had him frowning. "You said you wouldn't look." Trevor hummed. "And compared to Ace, I can lie." Whitebeard blinked, before he remembered that, that Ace couldn't lie for some reason. When he was about to speak, he saw Trevor gasp. "Oh no, this is bad. We need Ace." Whitebeard blinked. "Why? What does it say?" Trevor frowned a bit, before he showed it to Mika, pointing in it. "Should I tell?" Mika read it, before her eyes went wide. "Oh shit!" That didn't sound good. Thatch moved a hand. "Now you need to tell us! What is it?!"
Trevor made a small grimace, looking at Mika, who was thinking, before she sighed. "I think Ace will be mad if we tell." Trevor nodded. "He will be mad we know." Mika nodded. "True. Okay, eh, someone connected the dots. It doesn't say who though." Whitebeard frowned. "Which dots?" Trevor sighed. "That he is the grandfather to Luffy, father to Dragon, and that he knows Ace and Sabo too, that he helped raise them, and that Ace is Ace of Spades, or one of those who believes it is true. If this one spills, Garp will be executed." That wasn't good. "And it doesn't say who?" Asked the captain. Trevor nodded. "It doesn't." Not good. Trevor sighed. "Let's wait for Ace." That sounded to be the best.
During the next hours, Trevor peeped more in the folder, seeming to be reading it thoroughly, before he let it go for now. After 3 hours had passed, Ace came from around a corner and Trevor spoke. "Why is your demon on!" Ace blinked, before he shrugged. "Haven't you noticed before now? It's been on for a week." Trevor blinked. "Why?!" Ace lifted an eyebrow. "How can you not know? Where are we?" Trevor blinked. "We're- Oh my God! I forgot! We're in the west! Oh no!" Ace nodded. "Exactly." Trevor laughed. "Why haven't you told them to just not come here?" Said Trevor, moving a hand towards him. Ace snorted. "Yes, let me just keep them from going in the entire west since I don't like this one person." Trevor blinked, before he nodded. "Yeah yeah, that would be a bit dumb."
Whitebeard frowned. "Who is this?" Ace moved a hand up. "This is a person I do not tolerate at all, his entire being is something I hate, and he is a traveler, and I don't want him here, so Imma scare him off." Trevor hummed. "I do think he wouldn't care about the demon, he knows it is you and only an image." Ace nodded. "Yes, probably. But, it gives me the calm in my mind to do this, thinking he will know it is for him and that I'm here so he will stay the hell away from here." Trevor nodded, before he blinked. "Oh! And this," Trevor took the folder out and handed it to Ace. "Garp came with it. And before you freak, it doesn't say who." Ace frowned as he took the folder. "Why would I frea-" Ace closed his eyes, before he moved a hand to his nose. "It doesn't say who?" He asked with his eyes closed. Trevor shook his head. "No, I've read it like 9 times now." Ace moved his hand down. "God damn it!" Ace looked at Trevor. "I need to fix this!" Trevor nodded. "You do, but ho-" Ace blinked, before he looked up and gave an annoyed breath, cutting Trevor off, who blinked, before Trevor spoke again. "You know who it is?" Ace nodded, hand moving to his face. "I think I do. I will head to him and check this out." Trevor nodded. "Do that." Then Ace was gone in black smoke.
Trevor hummed. "I wonder who it is." Whitebeard frowned a bit. "Why did this make him so annoyed?" Trevor sighed. "I'm not sure you know, but he helped raise Ace, Sabo, and Luffy. None of them would be alive without him. Ace owes him a life debt, and he cares for him because of this." Mika nodded. "And he will repay it now." Trevor nodded. "I just wonder if it will change anything between them." Mika nodded. "I agree, but hopefully not." He could see why this might change something, and he knew Garp wasn't thrilled about Ace being an assassin. He hoped that whatever this was would go fine. But he could only wait and see.

Garp took a breath as he saw Dust, and asked everyone to go inside the ship, and when the door closed behind the last one, Ace appeared. Ace gave a breath, leaning on the railing. "I fixed it. You're safe." Garp gave a relieved breath. "Who was it?" Ace sighed. "Vice Admiral Colton." Garp gave an annoyed breath. "Damn it! I should have known!" Ace shook his head. "I knew he didn't like you, but not that he would go this far." Garp nodded. "How did he find out everything?" Ace sighed. "I am handling it." Garp frowned. "Ace-" Ace shook his head. "I am handling it." Garp sighed, Ace wouldn't say more than that. "Are you 100% sure it was him?" Ace nodded. "He spilled with some help. You don't do anything, and he will be found soon by his crew members, and then everything will fall into place." That sounded good and he nodded.
Ace then stood up and he was sure he would disappear, but he wanted another word in. "This makes us even." Ace shook his head. "No, it doesn't. I got even with you 3 years ago. This changes nothing." Then Ace was gone, and Garp blinked. He got even 3 years ago? How? He needed to find out, and would do his best to find out how.
-x-
Ace appeared on the boat, and Trevor gave a look to him. "Everything good?" Ace nodded. "Yes." Trevor nodded. "Good. What does this mean for your relationship?" Ace knew Trevor knew he had been in debt to Garp, but he didn't know what he had done before. Ace shook his head. "This changes nothing. I got even years ago." Trevor frowned. "How?" Ace shook his head, Trevor didn't need to know. No one needed to know. Trevor nodded. "Okay." It was good he didn't pry.
They then headed to the galley when dinner rolled by, and as they were eating, Thatch looked at him. "Ace, why can't you lie?" Ace hummed. "How do you learn to lie?" Thatch blinked. "You lie." Ace nodded. "Yes. You are a child and you lie, and then you get caught in the lie, so you think 'hmm, I need to lie better'. I never got to do that. Every time I lied about something small, to learn it, they never called me on it. So, I went by thinking 'I am awesome at lying.' I wasn't. They just didn't care, and when the time came to lie about bigger things, they caught me and I never learned to do it right." Thatch nodded. "Huh, that is a bit smart." Ace shook his head. "No, it is brilliant. I hate it, but if I ever am in charge of a child, I will do the same." Thatch nodded. "Who was it that did this?" Ace hummed. "All the adults actually, but Azuruko told them to do it." Thatch nodded. "Okay."
The rest of the day went by fine, and when evening came, he got a job and headed to do it, which would take some hours, maybe 12. Things were fine.
-x-
Whitebeard sat out on deck, them having gotten a visitor called George. He was a simple traveler, and wanted to see if they could get to know each other. He knew many travelers wanted to get acquainted with others, so they had common ground.
It was a bit later that Trevor and Mika came from around a corner, and he was about to say who this was, when Trevor gasped. "Oh no!" Trevor then pointed at George. "He can't be here!" Whitebeard frowned. "Why not?" Trevor gave a small breathless laugh. "Remember how Ace has his demon on to scare this guy away since Ace hates him? Well, this is the guy." George frowned a bit. "Is he still mad at me?" Trevor nodded. "Yes! And he has every right to be mad at you! You actually should really leave, or else, Ace will be pissed." Whitebeard frowned. "What did you do?" George rolled his eyes. "It is childish!" Trevor shook his head. "No, it is not! You knew what he went through at that time! You knew he didn't handle closed spaces, you knew everything, and you still locked the door. You knew that was out of line. Hadn't Azuruko been there, both Daisuke and I would have killed you." George sighed. "He's still mad at me too?" Trevor nodded. "Yes. You knew what he was going through. You screwed it up so much he didn't close a single door completely for weeks." George sighed, but didn't say anything.
Whitebeard still felt confused. "What did you do?" George hummed. "I simply locked a door." Whitebeard frowned, he didn't know why that was a big deal. Trevor rolled his eyes. "At least tell everything. You locked a door you knew Ace was behind, and you knew Ace didn't handle closed spaces after everything he had been through, and then you left him locked away." George sighed. "He was 14. I thought he was over it." Whitebeard closed his eyes. Now he got it. He knew Ace wasn't good with things at 13 and 14, because of everything. And if George knew, he shouldn't have done that. "Why did you do that?" He asked, and George's mouth went a bit slack. "You are with Trevor!? It was just a door!" Trevor shook his head. "No, it was not, and you knew it. It was even in a house laced with seastone, so he couldn't just get out with his powers." Whitebeard got why Ace was mad at this man, that was out of line. Not only since Ace had issues at that age, which the man knew about, but since one didn't lock people inside rooms, unless one had a good reason, and it didn't seem like this man had that.
Before George could speak again, Dust appeared, and ruffled his feather. That meant Ace was close. Trevor looked at George. "Ace is close, he is mad at you, you got a minute to leave." George rolled his eyes. "Fine." Then he left. And when he had been gone for half an hour, Ace appeared, and Trevor looked at him. "You knew he was here, right?" Ace nodded. "Dust saw him. I didn't want to come before he was far away, as I would most likely just murder him." Trevor nodded. "Which would have been justified." Ace shook his head a bit. "I don't think others would agree. Some would be mad." Trevor shrugged. "No one important." Ace hummed. "Probably true, but still." He was glad George had left before Ace came. They didn't need to see an angry Ace.
The next hours went by fine, and after a few, them being in the galley as it was meal time, Trevor came inside with a smile as he went over to Ace. "Hey! Happy got a new one!"Ace gave a gasp. "No! There is a new episode?!" Trevor nodded as he grinned. "Yes! I took it up. Wanna watch?" Ace nodded. "Yes!" Whitebeard frowned. "What are you talking about?" Ace hummed. "Happy Tree Friends." Whitebeard frowned, same with his children. "What is that?" Ace blinked. "Oh my God, you don't know?" Everyone shook their heads, and Ace smiled. "You need to watch it. It is awesome." Everyone nodded. "Sure," Said Thatch, "Sounds cute." Ace nodded. "Yup. It is. Go get it!" Trevor then went and got what they needed, taking a Kameko Den Den, setting it up so they could watch whatever this is. When it started a few minutes later, Thatch blinked. "It is… cute. This is for kids." Ace shook his head. "Nope. It is not." Whitebeard frowned with that, it seemed to be cute. There wasn't any talking, just sounds and it seemed to be a children's show. It was cute, and he couldn't help but smile, a bit surprised Ace liked this, but he was still a child. He was allowed to act like it as well.
As he was watching the cute characters at an amusement park, it was obviously drawn, but well made as well. But as he was watching, he felt shocked when one of the characters was hit by a moving object and got impaled on a piece of wood and heart got separated from his body, but still beating and the character being alive. What was this? The other characters were acting like nothing happened as well. Then, this character held a plank with nails, and managed to push it into one of the cute characters face, impaling him, and the character who did it went on normally. This was sick. Ace, however, as Mika and Trevor, laughed at it. Then, 4 characters went on a rollercoaster, and things went to hell. The characters all died brutally, one even got cut in half, pretty described as well. This was sick. He heard Haruta speak. "I'm going to be sick. How long is this?" Ace hummed. "Half an hour. It only gets worse." That had him blink. Get worse? This was already horrible. He decided he couldn't watch this, and went away, many joining him, but a few stayed, even seeming to find humor in it as the assassins did.
When the rest came out a bit later, the episode was obviously over, a few actually sitting and watching it with Ace, Trevor, and Mika. When they were out, the captain looked at the three assassins. "What was that?" Ace chuckled. "Called Happy Tree Friends. I love it. They love it." He said as he motioned to the others who were with them. Trevor moved his hands up. "And since they haven't seen anything before, we're going to have a marathon!" Whitebeard blinked. "You are? How often is there a new one?" Ace hummed. "I think about every half year to once a year. And it has been on for 4 years now." Whitebeard nodded. "Have you watched them all?" Ace nodded. "Yes, I watched the new ones when I wasn't here, since I was sure none of you would like it. But a few did, which is nice." Whitebeard gave a small nod. "I don't see how you can enjoy that. It was so much… violence and gore." Ace shrugged. "We're used to it, and I love that show." Whitebeard could maybe understand that. But the assassins were used to horror and gore. That wasn't for everyone.
-x-
Whitebeard saw Marco flying away, and he would be gone for a bit, maybe a week. He was needed on Moby 2, and he was the one who could get there fastest. Or, Ace could, but he was currently working. He was sure it would go fine. It was just a small crisis, Marco would handle it. When Ace returned a bit later, he asked where Marco was, and when he was told, Ace nodded. "Okay, what's wrong there?" Whitebeard hummed. "Some fighting and disagreements. Marco will handle it." Ace nodded. "Sounds good." It did, and he was sure Marco was the perfect man for this. He was good at handling disagreements.
The next few days went by fine, and after 3, when they had a small meeting, not everyone was present as it was just a small meeting. But as they were speaking, Ace came into the meeting room and he looked, well, tired. "Are you okay, Ace?" Asked the captain and Ace gave a small sound as he moved to drop on the couch. "Yeah yeah." Trevor frowned a bit. "Why aren't you in bed? You look tired." Ace let out a breath. "I hate my bed!" Whitebeard frowned, not sure where this came from, but as he was about to speak, Trevor did. "Okay, enjoy the couch." Ace nodded before he moved himself into a more comfortable position, before he was asleep a few seconds later. Ace really must be tired.
As Ace was asleep, Izou frowned. "Why did he say he hates his bed?" Trevor hummed, before he looked at Ace. "BunBun?" No reaction, which had Trevor nod. "'Cuz at times, Ace needs someone around himself when he sleeps. He just won't admit it." All of them nodded, Whitebeard frowning a bit. "How do you know this?" Trevor shrugged. "I know Ace." Made sense. Izou looked at Trevor. "Has it always been like this?" Trevor hummed. "Before, he slept under his bed. He can't do that here. Bed is too low." That made him frown. "Sleep under it?" Trevor nodded. "Feels more safe. I remember when I first noticed, I was going to give him something, but I couldn't find him in his room, so I headed out and when I was out, I stood outside the door for a bit, before I just heard… crying. And I so wanted to head back in, to just help Ace, but we weren't on speaking terms then. I was barely allowed to hand him stuff. So I went to Daisuke, who said Ace was under his bed and just was sad." All of them nodded, Haruta speaking. "Why… Why was there a time when you weren't on speaking terms? You've mentioned you didn't like each other at the start."
Trevor sighed. "Well… Might as well tell. I didn't like Ace the first bit, since I felt he was just a young arrogant kid who had Azuruko around his pinkie, then I found out the truth he was really amazing and fought hard, but I had a lot to make up for. And I managed, somehow. Then… I did something really stupid." They frowned, Thatch speaking. "You do a lot of things to Ace." Trevor shook his head. "No, not like this. Ace was younger, not as good with seastone, so I snuck out a piece, held it to Ace's skin, and… tried to drown him." They blinked Thatch speaking. "But you said you were good!" Trevor made a small motion. "Shh, don't wake him." Thatch nodded, speaking in a normal voice. "You said you made it?" Trevor nodded. "I had, but then I heard something I misterpreted. So I tried to drown him, really drown him. And then I ignored him after it, and that really hurt him. I am still trying to make that up to him." Whitebeard nodded, it was bad Trevor had done that, but things seemed to be better now.
They then continued the small meeting, and Ace was asleep for about half an hour, which was way too little for a normal person, but then again, Ace wasn't a normal person. He had an amazing fruit that probably helped him sleep a little, and he knew his work was hard, and sleeping might bring nightmares. He knew Ace had those. The next days went by fine, and after 4 more days, Marco came into the galley, and when he was asked how it had gone, he said it went fine, nothing special happened and he resolved the disagreement and everything was now fine. As Marco was seated and had spoken, Trevor hummed. "Ace also missed you." Marco blinked. "Ace… missed me, yoi?" Trevor nodded. "Yeah. He didn't want to sleep alone, so slept in the meeting room for a while." Marco blinked. "Oh." Trevor nodded. "I am sure he wouldn't pass up a nap right about now." Marco nodded, and he was sure he would head to sleep with Ace when Ace returned from his assignment. So when Dust appeared in the galley and took some food, Marco stood up and headed out, probably to see if Ace was back. Things were fine.

Marco moved to Ace's room and walked inside to see Ace stretching, turning to look at him when he came in, giving a smile. "Hey, how did it go?" Marco hummed. "Fine, nothing special, just some disagreements yoi." Ace nodded. "Good." Marco nodded, it was good. He made a motion to the bed. "How about relaxing a bit, yoi?" Ace smiled. "Yeah, that sounds nice." Marco then moved to lie down in bed with Ace, who gave a relieved breath when they were in a comfortable position. It also didn't take long for Ace to fall asleep, Ace really must be tired. Marco then got himself in a bit more comfortable position, before he moved an arm over Ace's middle, relaxing. It felt good to be back. He wasn't tired, and was sure he wouldn't fall asleep, but he wanted Ace to sleep, he could just relax, it felt nice too. He was glad to be back.
And that's the chapter, hope you enjoyed
The Happy Tree Friends episode I was referring to is 'One Foot in the Grave', one of the longer episodes
