Whitebeard sat in the galley with his children, when Ace came through the door and headed over and sat down. Ace hadn't been here for a few days. Or he had, but as Ann. And she had been a huge help, and it was amazing how Ace managed to do that, to pretend to be Ann. As he sat down, Thatch looked at him. "How do you do Ann so well? I mean, different gender and you pull it off, and you can't lie." Ace hummed. "Pretend and lie are different." Thatch blinked. "It is?" Ace nodded. "It is. I can pretend a lot." Thatch blinked. "Does that mean… you can pretend you can lie and lie?" Ace blinked. "Can I do that?" Ace looked at Trevor. "Would that work?!" Trevor moved his hands up "I hope not! I like that you can't lie!" Ace gave a laugh. "Imma try it one day. I won't tell when or what, but I will so try it." Trevor sighed and looked at Thatch. "Why did you do this? What if he can now lie!" Thatch blinked. "...sorry?" Ace gave Trevor a look. "Don't be mad at him." Trevor huffed. "I hope it won't work." Ace shrugged. "Probably won't." Trevor nodded. "Good." He got why Trevor didn't want Ace to be good at lying, as he could… well, lie. But they could only wait and see.
The next week,Whitebeard sat in the meeting room, waiting for his commanders as they were having an early meeting. Almost everyone was here. After a bit, it was just Ace missing, and after a minute, Ace came into the meeting room and he didn't look too well, but sat down, and as he was about to speak, Trevor did. "You look like shit." Ace nodded, hand moving to his head. "I feel sick." Trevor gave a nod. "Nauseous?" Ace nodded. "Mhm." Trevor hummed. "Well, sucks to be you." Ace gave a tired look to Trevor. "I don't like you." Trevor chuckled. "It's not my fault you are sick." Ace sighed. "I know I know. I just hate this." Trevor nodded. "I know. Hopefully you won't puke." Ace groaned, moving his head down to his hands which were on the table. Whitebeard decided they should move along and started the meeting. And it went by fine, and when it was done, Ace stood up. "I'm heading back to bed until I'm not nauseous anymore." Trevor gave a chuckle. "Have fun with that." Ace then left and Trevor looked at Marco. "You should be with him." Marco blinked. "I should, yoi?" Trevor nodded. "Ace has this weird childhood fear that if he pukes, he may die very horribly." They all frowned, Thatch speaking. "Why?" Trevor shrugged. "Well, when he was around 12, he saw like 5 who did die horribly from puking and I think it made its mark in his mind." That made sense, Ace was still a child, he was just 21.
Marco did leave, heading after Ace, and Izou looked at Trevor. "Can you die from puking? I didn't think that was normally possible." Trevor hummed. "Lie on your back and puke, high chance of choking on it. Other than that, there isn't that high of a chance to die, unless you have too large of a food in you, or just small things like that. It is rare, unless you're drunk or on drugs and on your back. Very rare." That made sense. He hoped Ace wouldn't feel bad for too long.

Marco moved to Ace's room, going inside to see Ace lying in bed and was half curled up underneath the covers. Marco moved over and laid down, moving an arm over Ace. "You okay?" Ace shook his head. "No, I feel sick." Marco nodded. "I hope you feel better soon, yoi." Ace gave a breath. "I hope so." Marco did the same and he hoped it would be over fast. Being sick was never good. Ace did fall asleep fairly quickly and Marco moved to sit up and grabbed a book and started to read. After a bit, he looked down at Ace, who looked flustered, so Marco moved his hand to Ace's forehead and yes, Ace had a fever. He guessed Ace was getting sicker.
Ace was asleep for a bit more, before he gave a small groan as he woke. "I feel worse." Marco gave a nod and moved his hand to Ace's head. "You also have a fever now, yoi." Ace was still flustered, cheeks red. Ace gave a groan and moved his head into his pillow. "No! I don't want to be sick!" Marco gave a soft look to Ace. "I'm sorry, but you're sick, yoi." Ace gave a small unsatisfied sound and moved the pillow to be over his head, which had Marco give a small chuckle. Ace was cute. He moved his hand to Ace's back. "It will pass, yoi." Ace gave a groan. "I hate that sentence! It does nothing to help me now!" Well, that was true. He didn't mean it like that. He moved his hand on Ace's back. "I'm sorry. I hope you'll feel well fast, yoi." Ace gave a nod under the pillow. "I hope so," said Ace in a grumble, and he got it. Ace didn't feel well.
They then relaxed, Ace being mostly asleep, which was good. But after some hours, there was a knock on the door and he gave a come in and Peter stood there and said there was an emergency meeting and Marco nodded before he looked at Ace, and before he could speak, Ace did. "I'm not coming." Marco nodded, guessing Ace was feeling bad. He moved and gave a kiss on Ace's head. "I'll be back as soon as I can, yoi." Ace gave a nod and he left.
When he got to the meeting room, everyone was there and Trevor gave a frown. "Where's Bunny?" Marco gave a breath as he sat down. "He didn't want to come, yoi." Everyone nodded, getting that, but Trevor, who frowned. "He's that sick? He doesn't even come to an emergency meeting?" Marco nodded. "He's gotten more sick, yoi." Trevor blinked. "Wow. He really must be feeling sick." Marco nodded. "He got a fever a few hours ago, yoi." Trevor nodded. "I'll check on him after this. He rarely stays away from meetings." That was true. Maybe he shouldn't have left? Trevor shook his head. "If he felt so bad he wanted you there, he would have said so." Okay, that was good to know.
The meeting then went by fine, the emergency being with one of their islands, so they changed their course and headed there to help them. When it was over half an hour later, Marco left the meeting room and headed to Ace's room, Trevor with him. The man wanted to check on Ace himself. When they got to Ace's room, Trevor walked in first. "Hey Bunny, how are you?" Ace gave a breath. "If I move, I will puke." Trevor hummed. "Want to try some anti-nausea? I know it usually doesn't work on you." Ace gave a grumble. "It never works." That wasn't good, he wished it did. Trevor moved and gave a clap on Ace's back. "Hopefully it passes fast." Ace gave an ever so small nod. "Hope so." Trevor then left and he moved to lie down next to Ace, an arm moving over Ace, it had Ace breathe out and seemed to relax. That was good, it's always good to relax when sick.
Marco did fall asleep after a bit, and when he woke, Ace was asleep still, and he looked at a clock and saw he had been asleep for an hour. He carefully moved a hand to Ace's forehead, and Ace still had a fever. It didn't seem higher, which was good. Marco made himself comfortable as he sat up and grabbed his book, one hand moving to Ace's head and combing through his hair. Ace usually liked that and it made him relax. It was silent for two hours, when Ace gave a groan as he woke and moved a hand to his head. "I feel like shit." Marco gave a comforting look. "I hope you'll feel better soon, yoi." Ace gave a small nod. "I hope so."
Ace then moved himself so he had his head in his lap and relaxed, and it had Marco smile as he moved a hand to Ace's head. He liked to have Ace this close, it felt good. It wasn't good that he was sick, but it would pass. Hopefully fast. Ace fell asleep after a bit, which was good. Marco relaxed as he read his book, hand on Ace's head. Ace was asleep for a while, before he woke with a groan and moved a hand to his head. "I feel like Imma puke." Marco nodded and moved his hand to Ace's back. "I know you don't like it, but sometimes throwing up makes you feel better, yoi." Ace grumbled. "I don't wanna throw up." Marco nodded. "I know, yoi. It is awful." Ace gave a small nod. "It is." He wouldn't push that matter, he got Ace didn't like it.
After some hours, Marco moved his hand on Ace's back. "Want some food, yoi?" Ace hummed, before he shook his head. "No, too nauseous." Marco nodded and was about to say he could grab something light, just in case and he felt Ace needed some food, when Ace spoke again. "Don't go grab food. I just want to lie here with you." Marco nodded, moving his hand to thread through Ace's hair. "I won't leave, yoi." Ace gave a nod. "Thank you." Marco gave a smile and was glad Ace wanted to lie with him. Ace did fall asleep after some minutes, which was good. Marco felt like the more Ace slept , the faster he would get better.
After a bit, Ace curled together and spoke in a low voice. "I'm cold." Marco gave a nod and moved a hand to Ace's forehead and gave a sigh. "Your fever is a bit higher, yoi." Ace gave a dissatisfied sound. Marco moved his hand to stroke Ace's head, before he moved his book away and moved to lie down and lifted his blanket with his hand and invited Ace over. Ace got the idea and moved over to him, head moving to lie on his chest with his head, and Marco moved his blanket down over Ace, who still had his own blanket around himself. Marco hoped the extra blanket would do some good. When he had lowered his arm and blanket, Ace gave a breath and closed his eyes, and Marco really hoped this would pass fast. Ace seemed to be comfortable and fell asleep after a bit, and Marco closed his eyes and relaxed, also falling asleep after a bit.
When he woke up again later, Ace was still asleep on him, head on his chest. That was good, and he moved his hand to stroke Ace's back, glad he was asleep still. He just laid and relaxed until Ace woke, which was a bit later, and Ace gave a breath as he moved to sit up. "I feel better." That made Marco smile and he brought a hand to Ace's forehead and gave a smile to Ace. "Your fever is going down, yoi." Ace gave a breath. "Thank God." It was good. Ace was getting better and would probably and hopefully be well by tomorrow.
Ace stayed in the room for a while, before they went to get some food and the next day, Ace was better, he was well again, which was good.

Whitebeard sat in the galley, enjoying dinner, when he noticed Ace gave a small grimace, before he moved the glass towards Trevor. "Taste this." Trevor shook his head. "No." Ace rolled his eyes. "Just taste it!" Trevor shook his head. "No! You want me to taste it since something is wrong with it!" Thatch frowned. "What's wrong with it?" Ace shook his head. "No, Trevor needs to taste it!" Trevor gave an annoyed breath. "Fine!" Trevor then took the glass and took a sip, before he frowned and took a bigger taste and looked at Ace. "What is wrong with you? This tastes good!" Ace frowned and took the glass and took a sip and looked at Trevor. "It tastes like puke!" Trevor shook his head. "Then it's your mouth that tastes like puke, not the drink." Ace huffed. "That's why I needed you to taste it. To see if it was me or the drink."
Ace then moved and grabbed the drink Trevor had and tasted it. "This tastes good!" Trevor looked at Ace with a frown. "It came from the same bottle, Ace." Ace shook his head and took a taste from his glass and shook his head again. "No, this still tastes like puke." Trevor shook his head and took another taste of Ace's glass. "It really doesn't." Trevor moved the drink to Thatch. "You taste it. You have a good palate." Thatch blinked, but did take a taste and looked at Ace. "I'm sorry, Ace. It tastes normal." Ace leaned back in his seat. "It's not me!" Trevor shook his head. "It is you. You legit said you asked me to see if it was you or it, and it is you." Ace gave a dissatisfied look, and Trevor chuckled. "You lose. This is your mouth being mean to you." Ace gave a huff, not saying anything and Trevor chuckled again. "No reason to be mad, it happens." Ace rolled his eyes, before he looked at Trevor. "Can we switch drinks? You said it tasted normal." Trevor nodded. "Sure, I don't care." The two then changed drinks and the meal went on normally.
As it was ending and th4ey spoke about different foods, most having left, and they got on the topic of breakfast, Trevor chuckled. "Ever seen Ace eat cereal? That is amazing to watch." They all frowned, Thatch speaking. "Why?" Trevor hummed. "It is impossible to explain, you need to see it, since you won't believe me." They all nodded and Thatch said they could have cereal tomorrow for breakfast and he was curious on what would happen.
When the next day started and breakfast was, Ace came in and Ace grabbed a bowl of cereal, and he had no idea what Ace would do. But, he got some milk and a glass, which was a bit weird. Usually, they didn't double up on the milk. But Ace then grabbed a straw and sat down, which had him frowning. He didn't grab more milk for the cereal. But Ace sat down and read something, taking a piece of cereal, before he drank some milk from the straw, and then repeated. It had him blinking. This was how he ate cereal? He literally drank milk beside it? Not milk in it? That was a weird small quirk.
Trevor gave a look to Ace. "I hate how you eat cereal." Ace shrugged, taking a piece of cereal. "This is how I do it." He said as he drank some milk. Trevor shook his head. "You're a weirdo." Ace shrugged as he repeated the process. "I don't like it when the cereal gets soggy. This way I can eat at my own pace." Well, he could maybe get that. It was still a bit weird. But everyone had their quirks. Breakfast then went by fine, before Ace got some work, which wouldn't be too long. They had also docked now, when a stranger came onto the boat and gave a wave to Trevor and Mika. "Hi!" Trevor moved his hands up ."Millie! I've missed you!" Mika gave a wave back. "Hi, Millie, how are you?" The woman, Millie, smiled. "I am good. Just finished an island away and wanted to come check on you guys." Trevor nodded. "Cool. It is awesome here." Millie nodded. "I have a feeling this will become a gray zone or something like that." Trevor gave a small nod, before he looked at him, and he didn't mind that and nodded, so Trevor looked back at Millie. "Probably." Millie nodded. "Cool."
Millie then looked at Trevor. "By the way, seeing you're here, is his husband here?" Trevor frowned. "What? Which rock have you been under the last 4 years? He died." Whitebeard blinked. What? Marco was fine. Millie blinked. "What? I know I have been undercover for like 4 and a half years, but I never got that memo." Trevor shook his head. "Well, he dead." Marco looked confused as well. "I'm fine, yoi." Trevor shook his head. "Oh, not you." That had all of them blink and Thatch move his arms. "What! Ace has been married before!"
Trevor shook his head and on his way to speak when Ace came from around a corner and everyone looked at him, which had Ace roll his eyes as he looked at Trevor. "What did you do? Also, hi Millie. Finally done?" Millie nodded. "Yes, I finally am. Got everyone." Ace nodded. "Good." Then he looked at Trevor. "Now you, what did you do?" Trevor pointed at Millie. "Actually, she did. But I did help. Why haven't you told them about your husband!" Ace rolled his eyes. "Number one, he died. Number two; stop calling him my husband!" Trevor gave a dumb look to Ace. "Ace. He was your husband." Ace sighed and pinched his nose. "Oh my God. Stop it." Marco looked at Ace. "You've been married before, yoi?" Ace sighed, looking at Trevor and Millie. "See what you started?" Trevor shrugged. "Was sure you would have told about him." Ace rolled his eyes and looked at everyone, who still looked confused, especially Marco. Ace sighed. "I've never been married before Marco." Millie blinked. "Oh my God! You're married! Never thought I would see the day." Ace nodded. "To be honest, I must agree. But I am happy. Where have you been?" Millie rolled her eyes. "Undercover for 4 and a half years here!" Ace hummed. "Still."
Thatch moved his hand. "So, you've never been married before? What are they talking about then!" Ace sighed. "Trevor made this stupid term." Trevor shook his head. "Not stupid!" Ace rolled his eyes. "It is. There was this guy, Alexander, and everyone said he was my 'work' husband." Millie frowned. "He was your husband!" Ace moved his hand. "Work husband! At the most! Which he wasn't!" They all frowned more, Thatch speaking. "What does that mean?" Trevor hummed. "Means a person you bond more with than others. Sander was Ace's work husband." Thatch frowned. "I thought you said Alexander?" Trevor blinked. "Oh, we all called him Sander. Shorter than Alexander." Thatch blinked. "And he was… Ace's work husband? What does it mean?" Trevor hummed. "Means that they bonded a bit better than we did. They just worked well together, and I heard the term one place I was like 6 years ago, and I liked it, so I used it. He was Ace's work husband since they bonded well." That could maybe make sense. Still a weird term. Millie then stayed for a bit, before she left and headed on, probably to the Red Cloud.
As she was gone, Thatch looked at Ace. "I thought you said you wouldn't be undercover for more than like a month or two? She was for over 4 years?" Ace nodded. "Yes. I can never afford that, but she could. And it wasn't just one place, it was on a set of islands, in the underground. Millie is our undercover person." That made sense and they all nodded. The day then went on normally.

Marco walked into his room with Ace, evening coming fast, and when they were inside, Ace chuckled and looked at him. "Did you think I would have been married before and never told?" Marco gave a breath. "I don't know what I thought, yoi." Ace chuckled. "I would have said that. And I would have been, at the oldest, 17. Believe me. I wouldn't have married anyone that early. I was a child." Marco nodded, that made sense. "You're still just 21 though, yoi." Ace nodded. "Yes, but after 18 you are a legal adult." That was true. Ace gave a chuckle. "But it was cute to watch. You looked like you wanted to freak out." Marco gave a small shrug. "I was shocked, I mean, you've been married before? And you hadn't told me that? it just didn't make sense, yoi." Ace nodded. "And it didn't make sense since I never was married." Marco nodded. "Who was this guy, yoi?" Ace hummed. "Sander? A nice guy. You know how you just instantaneously bond with someone as friends? That was us. I hadn't known him for that long, and we just became good friends. But then he died in a botched assignment." Marco nodded. "I am sure he was a good guy, yoi." Ace smiled. "He was." Ace had probably lost many he had liked, but it was what came with the work. He was doing a dangerous job in a dangerous world.
-x-
Whitebeard sat out on deck as evening approached, when Ace got an envelope, a red one and opened it and frowned as he read, and it seemed to be a long note. After a minute, Ace sighed and Trevor looked at him. "What is it? Looks like it is from Daisuke." Ace nodded. "It is. Long work. Want us to help an area, on an island, in distress. All of us." Trevor frowned. "Really? He wants all 3 of us at the same time?" That did seem excessive. Ace shook his head. "No, he wants more. He actually wants me to ask if the pirates will go too." They all blinked, Trevor moving over to Ace to read the note. "Is it that bad? Where does he want us to go?" Ace sighed as he showed the note. "West. Far West." Whitebeard had never really been West. Trevor frowned. "What? No one is allowed there. At least on half of it. It is such a huge island. And no fruit. They have always been like 'We can handle it on our own.' What has changed?" Ace shrugged. "Probably gotten worse. I know it has gotten a bit worse, but not this bad. That they actually need help and need so many too." It didn't sound good.
Trevor looked troubled as he read it. "Will take us about a month to get there. Maybe a bit more with the boat." Ace nodded. "Yes, but I can get us to the line, it might take a day since we are so many, but I can do that." Trevor nodded. "Sounds good. But still, it doesn't sound good." Trevor then looked at him. "Also, do you even wish to help?" Whitebeard thought for a second, before he nodded. "I do. I want to help make the world better for people." He really did, and he would always stand with Ace. Ace sighed. "I am not the fondest of that idea." Whitebeard fronwed. "Why not?" Ace gave a breath. "I don't want to see people die. People I care about. This is a dangerous place." It had to be if Daisuke thought he could use their help as well. It meant he needed many people. Trevor nodded. "Well, yeah. But if we don't get their help, we might die." Ace nodded. "I know." That really sounded bad. This must be a bad place. Thatch spoke next. "What is wrong there?" Ace sighed. "They have this… monster issue. No one knows where they come from, but they have been manageable. Must have gotten out of hand." That also sounded bad. But he wanted to help.
He was about to state that when Trevor spoke. "Let's head there, see how bad it is, and then take it from there. If the pirates should join or not." Ace nodded. "I like that idea. We don't know how bad it is." That was true, maybe they said it was worse than what it was. Trevor nodded. "Yes. We should probably start going. As you said, it would take you maybe a day." That sounded good, so they would get started. Ace shook his head. "No, we should all get a good night's sleep. It is already late, and then head for full sail tomorrow. I'll make sure everyone makes it." Ace sounded sincere and calm, so they all nodded, as it was a good idea. If Ace was calm, it was okay. They could all use a night's sleep. "Okay, son." Ace nodded, seeming glad about that. He knew Ace didn't want to see them injured in this, but they needed to help here.
When the next day came, him waking up early as he felt something was wrong. He went and sat out on deck, waiting for the day to start, which he was sure would be a hard and long day. When the clock was nearing 5am, Marco came out on deck and seemed upset and when Marco saw him, the first commander spoke. "Ace left." Whitebeard frowned. "What do you mean?" Marco shook his head and showed a note. "This! He left us! He left to fight alone, yoi!" Whitebeard blinked and took the note, and it was a simple 'I'm sorry', nothing more. Ace left, to handle this alone. He was about to speak when he heard someone speak to his left, seeing Trevor there. "No, he did not! He couldn't! He said we would leave together!" Ace had. Marco looked on the brink as he spoke. "And yet, he did." Trevor, who was holding a mug, most likely coffee, threw it so it shattered against a wall. "Fuck! No! He wouldn't!" Marco looked at the silver haired assassin. "He did, yoi. He did."
Trevor shook his head. "But he said-!" Trevor took a breath. "He lied." Whitebeard frowned. "But he can't lie." Trevor gave a hard breath. "No he did- fuck! He did what the chef said! Pretend he could lie! And then he could lie! He pretended everything was fine, and then just left. His first real lie that works, and he used it like this. God damn it!" This was bad, but they couldn't do anything, or, they could do one thing. "We will follow. They asked for help, and we will do our best to fix that, hopefully reaching Ace." They needed to find Ace again. Marco and Trevor nodded and Trevor went to change their course so they could head for full. They needed to hurry.
