Read and relax

Marco stood out on deck, enjoying a good day as they had just docked at a neutral island. They had been here a few times, it was a good one. But as an hour had passed, Trevor blinked, before he looked at Marco. "Okay, I don't have much time. But this guy is coming." Marco frowned. "Which-" Trevor moved his hand, cutting him off. "No time! Listen, I know you're not intimidated by mine and Ace's relationship. I know you had this one sliver of one some time ago, but you know now. But this guy who is coming, you will be intimidated by their relationship. But remember this; you are his husband, not him. You are. Okay?" Marco nodded as he had a frown. "Who is this?" Trevor took a breath. "Rory." They all frowned, Izou speaking. "Who's Rory?" He wondered as well, when a man spoke behind them. "I am." They turned and saw a man there, a stranger. He had short brown hair, a calm face, maybe in his late thirties. About Marco's height, maybe a bit higher by a few slight inches. He looked like a normal man. Why would Marco be intimidated by this man?

He was about to speak when he heard a sound of joy, before the man turned around and Ace was in his arms and Rory did a circle as he laughed with Ace. It had him blink. Ace wasn't one for hugs, he actually had once said he didn't like them at all. He usually only gave them since he either needed one as he was upset or he felt it was appropriate to give one based on the social situation. The two then spoke a bit, and it seemed like they were good friends. As in really good friends. What was even more confusing, when Ace had gone to fetch something one time and then returned, he had once again given a hug to Rory once he returned, even though he was gone for just a few minutes.

And that was how it was for the next day. The two seemed so close. When evening came and Ace wanted to show Rory something, Marco sat down and looked at Trevor as they were in the galley. "Both are gone, yoi. Who is this guy? Who is Rory? I've never met him before now. Never heard about him either, yoi." Trevor sighed. "He has been around Ace… maybe a month? And I mean like if we add up all the days they've been together, it might add up to a month. And I don't know, I hate that guy! I want that relationship with Ace!" Mika chuckled. "Oh yeah, he forgot to say, Trevor is also intimidated by this guy." Trevor crossed his arms. "I am not!" Mika shook her head. "You so are." Trevor was on his way to speak, when he gave a breath and moved a hand to his face. "Okay! Yes, I am! But I don't get it! How! Why! Why him! Why not me!"

Trevor seemed to really not like this guy and he kinda got it. It seemed like this Rory and Ace had been around each other for years, many many years, but they had only been together for maybe a month combined? That didn't make sense. Trevor sighed. "They hug so much as well. Ace doesn't like hugs, but this guy? Ace loves it with him. I don't like it." Marco didn't as well. When the two returned, they just spoke, and it wasn't about anything special either, it was just chatting. When evening came and they decided to retire, the clock almost 1am, Marco sat down on his bed and looked at Ace as he patted the space beside him. "Come sit, Ace."

Ace frowned a bit, but did, looking at him. "What is it?" Marco sighed, and moved to hold Ace's hands. "Please tell me, who is Rory, yoi?" Ace shrugged a bit. "A friend." Marco sighed again. "No, he feels like more. You both seem so close, yoi." Ace shrugged. "And? I like him. He's a good friend." Marco gave a skeptic look. "That you've known for a month?" Ace blinked. "A month? Who said that?" Marco looked at Ace. "Trevor did." Marco then brought his hand to Ace's cheek. "Please, help me understand, yoi. Who is he to you?" Ace gave a breath, before he moved a hand to the hand on his cheek and looked at him. "Okay. But, you can't tell anyone. Not Trevor, not if he begs you." Marco nodded. "I won't, yoi." Ace nodded, and looked into his eyes. "And, you can't even tell Whitebeard." Marco nodded. "I won't." Ace nodded with a breath, before he looked at him. "Okay, let me start from the beginning."

-x-

Whitebeard sat out, them just enjoying a good day, Rory still with them, and Trevor was still sending him dirty looks, and he got it. This was special. After a bit, Ace and Marco came from around a corner, and Ace ran up and gave a hug to Rory, and as they parted, Marco gave him a high five, which had them all blink, except Rory, who chuckled. "Good to have you on board." Marco nodded. "Good to be on board, yoi." Rory chuckled, and Trevor looked stunned, before he moved his hands. "No! What! What about me! I wanna know!" Marco gave a frown. "Know what?" Trevor moved his hand again. "What you know!" Yes, Marco had to know something here, something new, Ace must have told Marco something. Marco shrugged. "No clue what you're talking about, yoi."

Rory stayed for the while they were at the island. And every time Rory and Ace were apart and couldn't see each other, even if that was just a minute, they hugged when they could again. And how was Marco suddenly so okay with him? Ace had to have said who this was, which made him believe it was just more than having met him now and then, there was something there. And he was really curious on what, but had a feeling he wouldn't get anything from Ace or Marco, not now at least.

When they set sail as evening came, Rory left the boat just before. And as evening came for full, he retired to his room, and after a bit, Marco joined him for a game of cards, as they usually tried to do often. But as they were playing, Whitebeard looked at his son. "Who is Rory, son?" Marco shrugged. "Just a friend to Ace, yoi." Whitebeard frowned. "He has to be something more. They seem so close. And suddenly you're okay with him." Marco shrugged. "Ace is allowed to have friends, yoi." Okay, so Marco wouldn't tell. But he had a feeling he shouldn't be worried about Rory. If Marco wasn't, he shouldn't either. He trusted his son. He gave a smile to Marco. "Okay, son. I trust you." Marco nodded. "Thanks."

-x-

Whitebeard walked into the galley the next day, and many were there and a few were playing cards games, and he went over to his commanders, who were also playing with a few others, and they were playing the game short and long again, probably wanting to get the game as it sounded fun once understood.

It lasted a small bit, before the game then ended as Ace won, and then they started to count the cards and Izou had a frown. "What was the points to each card again?" Ace hummed. "2-10 is 5 points. Jack, queen and king is 10 points. A is 25 points. And the joker is 50 points." Izou nodded and looked at his cards. "I got a lot of points I think…" Ace gave a laugh. "You saved the picture cards?" Izou nodded. "Yeah, shouldn't I?" Ace hummed. "Depends, how sure are you you will manage to win or put down the highest ones. Bad cards to have at the end." Izou nodded. "I feel that now." Ace chuckled. "That's how you learn." Ah, so this was round one. They then went on to the second round, and Namur won that one, before the next, which Trevor won, and that's how it went. When it ended, Ace was in first, Izou second, Namur third.

As it was over, a few left, and he hummed. "Can I join a round?" The ones at the table nodded. "Yeah sure. Remember the rules?" Whitebeard hummed. "I think so." Ace nodded. "Good. Ask if you have questions." They then played, and he had a few questions now and then, just to be sure he knew what he was doing. It was a lot to remember, but it was fun. He stayed in the galley for a bit, and when they docked later, he joined his children in a bar, and this time, it was Ann who was here, as she had just returned from an assignment.

As they were at the bar, there was this mechanical bull there, a game kind of thing. It was steered by some buttons and controls, and the goal was to stay seated, which was hard from what he had seen, as a few had tried. As one more tried, and lasted maybe 10 seconds, which was long according to a few who had tried. As one more tried and failed, Izou hummed. "That looks really hard." It did, as it was to simulate sitting on a wild bull. Ann chuckled. "Not that hard." Izou blinked, before he frowned. "What? It looks really hard." Ann shrugged. "I don't find it hard. Pretty easy." Izou blinked again, as most of them, Thatch speaking. "Can… you try? Do you need to change to do that?" Ann hummed. "I can do that, and no, I can do it like this." Ann had a dress on which had a long cut in the lower part, making it so she most likely could sit on the bull. Ann looked at the one who steered the thing, who also worked in the bar. "Could I try a round on the bull?" Tha man nodded. "Sure, Lady. Be careful though." Ann nodded and stood up, heading to where the bull, and a man by the bar snorted. "Lady, you can't last 5 seconds." Ann hummed. "I can last longer on that bull than you can in bed." The man gave a snort. "If you last more than 5 seconds, I will eat my hat." Ann nodded. "Perfect."

Ann then got to the bull and sat down, moving her hair behind her ears and moved her hands up. "Look, no hands." Ann then looked at the man by the controls. "Also, put it on max." The man by the bar blinked at that. "Lady! You're going to break your neck!" Ann hummed. "I won't." She then looked at the man by the controls. "I'm ready. Let's say 30 seconds, I can't do this all night." The man by the controls nodded and started the ride, which started a bit slow, as it always did the first seconds, probably to warm it up. And Ann moved with the movements, no hands on the bull, also moving with the movement. The bull then sped up and got more erratic, and Ann handled it perfectly. She moved with the movement, and when it moved side to side, she moved her head too, as if knowing what it would do, which was impossible as it was random, not even her hair got in her face. It was amazing to see, she really had control, in a situation that was not controlled.

The man's jaw by the bar did fall to the bar as he stared, as Ann was the perfect person to do this. It lasted for 30 seconds, before it stopped, and Ann got off it and looked at the man by the bar. "Want salt with that hat?" The man got his jaw up and moved to look at his hat, and Ann moved back to them and that meant by him, and when she was, she moved to grab the hat. "Don't worry, you don't need to eat it. But, don't judge by looks. Okay?" The man nodded and Ann moved the hat to the man's head and moved back to their table, and when she sat down, Izou spoke. "That was amazing! How!" Ann chuckled. "As you may know, I love to ride wild animals, they are worse than that." That was true, Trevor had said that and he had seen Ace ride a wild horse.

They then stayed in the bar for a while, before it closed and they headed back home, where the day continued before they set sail the next day. They then headed on, going to try and head a bit north, just to see if they could be a bit adventurous. He knew they would pass the point where devil fruits didn't work, but that wouldn't be for some days. It would be new, but it sounded a bit fun to be a place they hadn't been before. When a day had passed, they were about to have their meeting. They were supposed to have it tomorrow, but decided to do it today instead, and Ace, who was working, was soon due to be back, so they waited for him.

After a while, still sitting in the meeting room, relaxing for now as they waited. As they were sitting and enjoying themselves, Ace came into the room and walked over to Trevor. "Smell me!" Trevor frowned. "What?" Ace moved himself close to Trevor. "Smell me! Smell me!" Trevor moved a hand up. "Okay okay!" It was a weird thing to ask in the captain's mind. But Trevor did smell Ace and frowned. "I don't get it. What should I smell? New perfume? I smell nothing." Ace blinked, and looked over to the door when it opened and Corvo stood there. "They don't smell it!" Said Ace with a laugh, and Corvo nodded. "Told you." Ace gave another laugh, seeming to really be in a good mood for some reason, and it had Trevor frown, before he blinked. "Wait! That laugh! You're drunk?!" Ace nodded. "Yes! I am!" Ace was? Trevor moved his hand in a motion for Ace to come closer. "Get here! I wanna smell again!" Ace nodded and walked closer and Trevor took a whiff, and frowned more. "Why don't you smell!" Ace laughed. "Corvo just introduced me to a new vodka. 66% strength, and you don't smell! It is amazing!"

Trevor blinked. "What?" Corvo nodded and came more in and lifted a bottle. "Here. Ace has had 2 bottles already." It was almost a one liter bottle, that was a lot to drink. Trevor nodded and opened the bottle and took a whiff, and frowned. "Nothing. This literally smells like water; nothing." Ace nodded excitedly. "I know! It is awesome!" Whitebeard wasn't so sure of that, it sounded… wrong. One of the ways to know someone was drunk was by smell, and this eliminated that. Trevor frowned. "I don't like this." Whitebeard agreed, he didn't like this also. Ace shrugged. "Won't use it too much. Too weak:" Izou blinked. "Weak! That's 66% percent!" Ace hummed. "Used to at least 88. Takes too long to get drunk." Ace still didn't slur, which was amazing as he had drunk a lot.

Soul then hummed. "Also, I need to leave." Ace nodded. "Sure." Ace then moved his hand and Dust landed on Soul's shoulder andSoul was gone. Ace then looked at them. "Why're we all in the meeting room?" Whitebeard hummed. "We decided to have the meeting today and not tomorrow." Ace nodded and moved to sit down. "Sure." Whitebeard blinked, and before he could speak, Thatch did. "But… you're drunk." Ace shrugged. "And?" Thatch blinked. "We're not supposed to be drunk when we have meetings." Ace blinked. "Oh, really?" They all nodded, him speaking. "We want to be in our best minds here." Ace gave a 'huh'. "Cool. I should head to bed then." Ace then stood up and left and Trevor hummed. "Didn't know that was a rule." Whitebeard looked at Trevor. "It is. I assume you'll step in for Ace?" Trevor nodded. "Yeah, sure." That was good.

The meeting then went by fine, Trevor stepping in for Ace. When they were done, Marco left after Ace, probably to make sure he was fine. Things were fine. The next few days went by fine, and they were soon by the line where their devil fruit stopped based on the assassins. This would be interesting.

-x-

Marco sighed as he felt his powers leave him, as they entered the north, where his devil fruit didn't work, making so he felt… well, human. He felt weaker and he felt how the cold bit a bit when the wind blew, not too much, but a bit. He hoped this would go fine. They then headed more into the north, as they wanted to check it more out, and he was sure this would go fine. They were all excited to be in a new place, to feel adventurous. And the next 2 days went by fine, they had a small fight, but no one got injured enough to go to the infirmary, as it was a small crew they were up against. It was fun to fight too.

But as the two days had passed, he and Ace, who were in Ace's bedroom, moved to each other and started to make out, and Marco moved them a bit and Marco moved Ace to sit on the desk, so he was a bit taller than him, before he went back to kissing Ace, who responded by kissing back, they then started to take his vest off, when Marco moved his face to Ace's neck and started to kiss it, which had Ace move his hands to his shoulders. "M-Marco." It had a tinge of something at the end, and he gave a last kiss before he moved his head backwards, but as he had, a head suddenly hit his face hard, making him fall down to the ground with a groan as it hurt, and it hurt a lot. Ace didn't hit him dead on, but a bit to the side, but still managed to hit his nose badly.

When Marco opened his eyes, having closed them as he was in pain, he saw Ace had moved off the desk and Ace moved his hand out to him. "Marco, are you okay?" Marco groaned, hand moving to his nose and cheek, which still actually hurt a lot. Ace moved over to him, giving an apologetic look. "I'm really sorry." Marco nodded, or tried to, his face really pulsated in pain. Marco took a breath. "Okay, okay, I'm fine, yoi." Ace shook his head a bit. "Actually, you don't look fine." Marco blinked, and when his face still pulsated in pain, he remembered where they were. His fruit didn't work here. Marco got himself up with the help of Ace, and moved to the mirror, and yes, his cheek, nose, and eye was already growing blue and purple, some blood trickling from his nose and a small cut on his cheek. Marco moved his hand and dried the blood, which also hurt as he touched his nose, which felt broken. "I think you broke my nose, yoi." Ace gave an apologetic look. "I'm really sorry, you scared me." Marco shook his head a bit. "No no, I shouldn't have done that, yoi." Ace sighed. "Maybe, but still, I shouldn't have done that." Marco nodded and moved his hand to his cheek. "But damn, this hurts. Been a while since I've felt pain like this, yoi." Ace nodded. "Yeah, no fruit, remember. Oh God, you're going to look like this for a bit." Oh, that was true.

Marco then moved a hand to his nose. "Maybe I should head to Bay, yoi." Ace hummed. "Do you trust me? I mean, I can fix it." Marco blinked. "You can?" Ace nodded. "Sure. Unless your cheekbone cracked too." Marco nodded and looked at Ace. "Do your best, yoi." Ace nodded and moved a hand to his face carefully, he did flinch a bit, as it hurt, when Ace hummed as he checked his cheek and nose. "Your cheekbone looks fine, but not your nose. This might hurt. Or, it will hurt." Marco nodded. "I'm ready, yoi." Ace nodded and moved a hand to his nose and moved it back into place, which had him give a small gasp and flinch, as that hurt too. But the pain lessened quickly. Ace then gave a smile. "There." That was good. Ace then sighed. "What will the others say?" Marco shook his head. "They will understand." Ace sighed. "I hope so. This looks so bad." Marco shook his head. "No, they know about the other incident, when you smashed my face, yoi. They will get it." Ace nodded. "Hope so."

Marco then brought his hand to his nose again. "But it still hurts. Maybe I should head to Bay, yoi." Ace hummed. "You can, I won't stop you." Marco nodded and he knew Bay didn't like to be kept in the dark about injuries. "I should go, yoi." Ace nodded. "Okay, I just hope we won't run into anyone." Marco nodded and he got that. They then headed to Bay, and it was early, so very few were out, making it so no one saw them close enough to see the damage to his face in the dark.

When they got to Bay, she lifted an eyebrow when she saw them. "Well well, how did this happen?" Ace gave a small hiss. "I kinda headbutted him." Bay blinked. "Do I want to know why you headbutted him?" Ace sighed. "He scared me." Bay blinked, before she nodded. "Okay, that makes sense. Anything broken you think?" Marco hummed a bit. "My nose was, but Ace fixed it, yoi." Bay sighed. "I don't like it when you fix your own bones. If you could just fix it yourself, why am I here?" That was a point. Ace sighed. "Yeah, I'm sorry, we weren't originally going to come, but Marco wanted to." Bay nodded. "Good. Let me have a look here." Marco then sat down in a bed and Bay looked him over and hummed. "Cheekbone has a crack I think, but not broken, your nose looks worse, but the bone is set right. Which is good."

Bay then took a step back. "But, this is new. I've never really seen you injured." Ace sighed. "I know, and I wonder how the rest will react to the fact I did this." Bay shook her head. "No, as you said, he scared you, you reacted. One should know not to scare an assassin." That was true, and Marco agreed, and moved a hand to Ace's. "They will get it, yoi. Don't worry." Ace nodded and gave a small smile. "Okay." Bay then put some lotion on and a small stirip on the cut on his cheek. When she was done, she looked at Ace. "Also, you have a bruise forming on your forehead." Marco blinked and looked at Ace, and yes, where he had headbutted him, there was a bruise forming. That only said how hard he had done it. No wonder his face hurt.

Ace moved a hand to his forehead. "I don't feel anything." Bay nodded, and looked at him. "Good, now try not to scare more assassins." Marco sighed. "I will. I should know as he's done this before. But then, my cheekbone and jaw also broke." Bay frowned. "Why didn't I see you?" Ace hummed. "Weren't in a place where devil fruit doesn't work, so it healed instantaneously." Bay nodded. "Okay. So really, you should know better." Marco nodded. "I should, yoi." He really should have. Bay then blinked. "But why is the damage so much less now?" Ace gave a weak chuckle. "Had a better angle last time. Now I was a bit to the side." Bay nodded. "Makes sense." It did, last time, he was holding Ace in place. This time, Ace was above him and to the side, and not a bit lower as he was slightly taller than Ace, and not dead ahead.

They then left back to Ace's room, to wait for the day to start, and Ace did apologize again, so Marco shook his head a bit. "No, don't be sorry, I should be sorry, yoi." Ace gave a small chuckle. "Says the one who got injured." Marco chuckled a bit, and moved his hand to Ace's forehead. "You got a bruise yourself, yoi." Ace nodded. "Yeah, I guess." Marco moved his hand to Ace's cheek. "It went fine. This will be gone when we're away from here." Ace nodded. "Yeah, I guess." Marco nodded. "Yeah. But, what made you react, yoi?" Ace moved his hand to his neck. "I really don't like it when my neck is touched, much less kissed." Marco nodded before his mind connected that. Neck was a thing many went for, and he had heard about bad people going for that when they abused someone, especially sexually. No wonder Ace reacted. He moved his hand to Ace's leg. "I'm really sorry, yoi. I will stay away from your neck." Ace gave a small smile. "Yeah, that would be the best." He should have known this, as it was the neck last time Ace had smashed his face really did know better. But, they were fine.

They then stayed in the room for a while, before the day started, and Marco had moved to do some paperwork, so Ace headed out before him, and before Marco left, which was just a few minutes later, he got a look in the mirror and yes, he looked worse. Well, this would be interesting.

-x-

Whitebeard sat in the galley, eating breakfast and enjoying his children's company. As it was nearing its end, Ace came into the galley, and when he was close, Trevor frowned as he looked at Ace. "Why do you have a bruise on your forehead?" Whitebeard blinked and looked at Ace, and yes, he had a bruise on his forehead. How had that happened? They had been in no fights the last day, and he hadn't been working either, neither as a mercenary or assassin as he couldn't leave. Ace sighed as he sat down. "I headbutted Marco." Whitebeard blinked. Ace had what? Trevor frowned. "If you look like that, how does Marco look?" Ace hummed. "I had a bad angle." That was maybe good, so Marco wouldn't look too bad. As Ace had sat down, Trevor looked at him. "He scared you?" Ace sighed. "Yeah." Trevor nodded. "Nice. He looks bad I guess." Ace sighed again. "Could have been a lot better." That didn't sound good. Trevor nodded. "Been with Bay?" Ace nodded. "Yeah." Whitebeard blinked. Was it so bad they needed Bay? He was worried now. But he could only wait and see.

It took some minutes, but Marco soon came through the door. And even though the captain was far away from the door, he could see Marco had a bruised face. When Marco, who never was injured, was closer, he could almost only stare in shock. Marco looked horrible. His nose and eye were badly bruised, his cheek to and a small cut on it. Thatch blinked. "If that is a bad angle, I don't want to know what a good angle looks like." Marco hummed. "With a good angle, he managed to also break my jaw and cheekbone, not just my nose, yoi." So, his nose had been broken. That was awful, but he was sure it wasn't done on purpose. As Ace had said when Trevor asked, Marco scared Ace. And as they had said, when scared, they lash out. Marco then moved his hand a bit. "I know it looks bad, but it wasn't Ace's fault, it was mine, yoi." Everyone nodded, still shocked. This was new, Marco was injured so they could see it, not just healing instantaneously, as he usually did, but they were in a place where devil fruit didn't work, so that was why. But it was still weird.

The rest of the meal went by fine, and many did react to the fact Marco was injured, and he did say it was nothing and would be fine, and that it wasn't Ace's fault, it was Marco's. And that did make sense if Marco had scared Ace, who then reacted to it and took it as a dangerous situation. It also looked like Ace felt bad, which he got. He had hurt Marco, it wasn't on purpose, but it had happened. The day then went by fine, many shocked Marco was hurt and a few did ask if he was fine, which Marco said he was, it just looked bad, which made sense. They had never seen Marco hurt, so it was new, but things seemed to be fine.

When evening came, he went out on deck, to enjoy a sleepless night, and found Ace at the front and headed over. "Hello, son." Ace hummed. "Hello. Can't sleep?" Whitebeard shook his head. "No. You?" Ace shook his head. "No." Whitebeard nodded, and was about to speak when Ace did with a sigh. "I also feel bad." Whitebeard looked at Ace. "It's fine, Ace." Ace sighed. "Yeah, it is not like I hurt Marco." Whitebeard shook his head. "No, don't be like that. It was something that happened. May I ask what happened? You don't need to tell." Ace sighed. "My mind just…freaked and I thought I was somewhere else for a moment." Whitebeard nodded, that made sense, Ace probably thought he was back in a bad situation, so he reacted. He looked at Ace. "No one holds you responsible, son." Ace gave a weak snort. "They should, it was me who did it." Whitebeard hummed. "I think that is wrong. I think that in that moment, you were more in your assassin persona and just reacted. You would never hurt any of us on purpose." Ace gave a small nod with a sigh. "Maybe." Whitebeard moved his hand and nudged Ace a bit. "Don't be so hard on yourself." Ace nodded. "I will try."

The captain then gave a breath. "You should probably try and sleep, son." Ace sighed. "I will, in a bit." That was good. He then stood with Ace for a bit, and after a couple hours, Ace left to try and sleep, the clock a bit past 2am. After Ace left, he stood out for a bit more, before he also left for bed.

-x-

Marco moved to look at the door when it opened, and was glad to see it was Ace. He had just woken up and was alone in bed. "Hey, I was just about to go find you, yoi." Ace chuckled. "Needed some fresh air." Marco nodded and sat down on the bed and Ace moved over and sat down next to him and Ace moved a hand to his cheek. "You really look awful." Marco gave a small chuckle and moved his hand to Ace's on his cheek. "It's fine, it happened, it was mostly, or everything, was my fault, yoi." Ace gave a sigh with a nod. "Okay. I still feel a bit bad though." Marco shook his head. "No, don't. You just reacted. Please don't feel bad, yoi." Ace sighed. "I will try." Ace really shouldn't feel bad for something Marco did.

Ace then looked at him. "And, we're going to be in the north for a bit too, you'll look bad for a while." Marco hummed. "It's fine. Maybe I've learned now, yoi." Ace gave a weak chuckle. "Maybe." Marco smiled and moved to kiss Ace. He was sure things would be fine, even though this was the first time in long he was injured and not instantaneously healed. The next few days would be a bit interesting.
