Hi guys! Here is the next chapter!
This is just some things and setting things up for later
Hope you enjoy
Read and relax
Whitebeard moved off the boat with a small group. They had docked a bit ago, on a winter island. They would check the island more later as well, but needed to restock a bit and a few wanted to check around. Ace also joined for once, which wasn't the most common. He usually checked things on his own or with Trevor or Marco, but both of them were busy. Marco was on Moby 2, which was not that far away, just to check on them. And Trevor was doing paperwork.
They walked around on the island, Ace going a bit in the middle of them, which was a bit odd as Ace liked to lead. But this was a winter island and he knew Ace wasn't too fond of them as he didn't like the cold, which he got. But Ace also wanted to join them and look a bit around, as he rarely visited winter islands on his own accord. He also probably walked in the middle to maybe feel warmer. It was said that in a group, walking the middle held the most heat, even though it was barely.
They then walked around, and after walking a bit, they headed into a shop to check around. As they were in it and looked around, he noticed Haruta looked at Ace. "Ace, are you okay? You seem a bit… off." Whitebeard blinked. Did Ace? Ace blinked as well. "Off how?" Haruta shrugged. "I don't know. I can't pinpoint it. Just something seems off." Ace shrugged. "I don't know. I feel a bit warm, which is weird as we're on a winter island." That was weird, he knew Ace didn't like the cold and usually always felt cold. Haruta blinked too, before she moved the back of her hand to Ace's forehead, before she shrugged. "You're not warm. You feel normal, maybe a bit cold to be honest." Ace gave a nod and moved a hand to his own forehead. "Could have sworn I feel warm. Must be in my head." It might be. It was probably nothing.
They then looked a bit more around, before they went out again and headed to another store, before they went back to the boat. It was a good day, it was sunny, but not extremely cold either, which was good. So most were out on deck. Ace did seem to keep a bit to the side, which wasn't the most abnormal either, but he couldn't help but feel something was off too, but he didn't know what.
The day then went on, and after a couple hours, just before dinner time, he heard a small thud and looked over to his left, to see Ace having somewhat fallen down to his knees and hands, breathing a bit hard. It had them all blink, Trevor moving over to Ace. "Bunny? You good?" Ace shook his head. "I feel warm." Ace didn't look warm. Trevor blinked as he was close to Ace and crouched down. "Warm? It is like 30 degrees here. And you're always cold, ne-" Trevor cut off as he had moved a hand to Ace's forehead, before his eyes widened in horror.
Trevor then moved his other hand to Ace's neck, under the scarf, looking even more horrified. "Hey, you okay? You're really warm." Ace shook his head, still breathing hard. "I feel so warm. I feel like I can't breathe." That did not sound good. Trevor nodded and stood up. "Going to the infirmary. Come on." But Ace didn't get up, he stayed leaning on his hands, shaking his head. "I can't get up." That made Trevor blink, before he moved over and lifted Ace, before heading to the infirmary. Everyone looked concerned as Trevor walked, before he was gone, and Izou spoke. "He doesn't look like he has a fever." Ace didn't, so this was odd.
He decided to wait for a bit before checking on Ace. When Marco came back an hour later, he was told Ace was in the infirmary with a fever, and headed there to be with his husband. Then nothing happened for a bit, the day went on, but they didn't see Ace, Trevor, or Marco at all. As he was about to check on Ace, the clock now nearing 9pm, Trevor came out and looked worried. "Has anything happened to Ace while you were on the island? This fever is… insane. And it won't go down." Whitebeard didn't like the fact he called Ace for Ace and not Bunny as he always did, it was a sign this was serious. Thatch looked at Trevor. "How high is it?" Trevor shook his head a bit. "Just rose to 100." Curiel blinked. "But… 100 isn't that bad." Trevor sighed. "For you, no. For me, no. For most, no. For Ace, yes. His core temperature is rarely over 90. For Ace to have a fever of 100, would be like you have over 110." They felt shocked at that. If Whitebeard remembered, 106 or higher was really dangerous and could be a death sentence.
Curiel swallowed. "And it's not going down?" Trevor shook his head. "No! And it should! We put him in an ice bath, it did nothing. And he can't be in that for too long. We have tried cold cloths, ice towels on his body, anything. But it is not working! We are contemplating on putting on a seastone bracelet and using very strong antipyretics. They don't usually work on him because of his powers. But honestly, we're running out of options." Izou blinked. "Then do that! I know Ace doesn't like to not have his powers, but do it!" Trevor sighed, on his way to speak when Curiel did. "No, they can't. I don't know everything about Ace's powers, I don't. But they heal him as well. A temperature over 106 causes organ failure very fast. His powers might be the only thing keeping him alive."
They all looked at Curiel in shock, before looking at Trevor, who nodded. "He's right. That's why we haven't yet. But even with his powers, he won't last long like this. We've run tests. He has no infection. He isn't even sweating. He's not able to breathe right. We can't find anything wrong with him. And no one else is affected either. We don't know why this is. Are you sure nothing happened?" They all nodded. They had just walked around and checked some shops, nothing big. It wasn't a desert island, or even a summer island. It was a winter one, or else he would have said heatstroke. But Bay had probably already checked for that just to cover everything.
No one seemed to have an idea what it might be, which made Trevor sigh, before he went back to the infirmary, no wiser than he was. And Whitebeard tried to think of what might have happened, but nothing had. They had just been walking around. As he was thinking, Haruta spoke. "Wait… he's never above 90?" Whitebeard looked at Haruta, who looked shocked. "When I felt his forehead, it wasn't warm, but not that cold. It had to be above 90 when I felt him." Whitebeard blinked, before he realized Ace had a fever already then. But they told Ace he didn't have one.
Jozu then walked over to Haruta. "Compared to me, how did he feel?" Haruta blinked and felt Jozu, making her nod. "About the same actually." Jozu nodded. "I lay very steady on 93, because of my diamond powers." Haruta blinked. "So… I told Ace he was fine, when he wasn't?" Whitebeard looked at her. "Daughter, you didn't know. Don't blame yourself." Haruta nodded. "I will try." None of them could have known this. They didn't see Trevor, Ace, Marco, or Bay before night fell. Bay also didn't visit him during the night as she used to run some tests and check on how he was doing then. And he took that as a sign Ace's state was bad.
When Whitebeard woke up the next morning and still saw none of them, not even showing up for breakfast, he went to the infirmary to check when breakfast finished. Whitebeard moved into the infirmary and to the bed that had the curtains half around it, and when he saw Ace, he felt more worried. His face had a somewhat flushed appearance, but his skin looked very dry and not sweaty either, just a very faint red hue. His breath was coming out in puffs and was shallow. His eyes were closed, and he felt that was since Ace was trying to concentrate on breathing.
Marco sat beside him, a bowl of ice water next to him, and had a cloth on Ace's bare chest, probably to get the fever down, but it was obviously not working based on Ace's state. Marco looked up when he came in, before Marco shook his head as he moved the cloth to the ice water, before bringing it back to Ace's chest. "It's not going down, yoi. His skin is not even clammy. This makes no sense." It didn't. He didn't know what to do. Trevor then came out of Bay's office and looked at Marco. "Any change?" Marco shook his head and Trevor gave an upset breath. "Why is this happening!" No one had an answer. Bay then went over to Ace and brought out a thermometer that checked the forehead temp. As she did, Trevor spoke. "Please tell me it has gone down. It was 101 last time." That means it has risen since yesterday, as Trevor said it was 100.
The thermometer beeped and Bay looked at it and sighed. "102,2." Trevor looked shocked. "It's still rising? How! This is insane!" Bay nodded. "If this goes on, at this rate, he will die. Nothing is working. His body will shut down." That wasn't good at all. Marco looked worriedly at Ace as he took the cloth away and made it cold again, before moving it to Ace's chest, looking really worried. Trevor shook his head a bit. "That's it, I'm calling Daisuke and Moira." Sounded smart and he joined Trevor in the communication room.
When they got there and Trevor dialed the number, he had to blink as it wasn't Daisuke or Moira that answered. "Yes? Hanzo speaking." Trevor blinked. "Hey, it's me, Haz. Is Daisuke or Moira there?" The Den Den shook its head. "Sorry. Emergency thing, both are gone until next week. What's up?" Trevor sighed. "Ace… has a super high fever that won't go down. At this rate, he is going to die. We've tried everything." The Den Den blinked. "Ice bath?" Trevor nodded. "Yes. Absolutely no reaction. The fever actually went up. Delirious the few times he speaks. Not even clammy or sweaty. We're trying all we can, but nothing is working." The Den Den looked concerned. "I can't reach Daisuke or Moira either, really high level and secret mission or something. I got no details. I'm sorry." Trevor moved a hand to his head as he shook it. "No, you didn't do anything. Okay, I'm gonna try Shanks. Maybe Benn has some ideas." The Den Den nodded. "Do that. Hope Ace gets better. Bye, Trev." Trevor nodded. "Yeah, bye."
Then the Den Den went back to sleep, before he called Shanks' ship, and Shanks answered after a few rings. "Good day! It's Shanks!" Trevor sighed. "Too happy. We have a very serious situation with Ace right now. We need all the help we can get." The Den Den's smile fell. "What is it? Is he injured?" Trevor sighed. "No. But he has one Hell of a fever that refuses to go down. We've tried everything. Please tell me Benn is there and has some ideas we haven't tried." The Den Den blinked. "Benn!" It yelled, before the other man could be heard. "What is it?" Shanks gave a small sound. "It's Ace. He's sick." The Den Den blinked. "What?" Said Benn, before Trevor explained the fever and they had tried everything.
When they had, the Den Den blinked. "How high?" Trevor sighed. "Currently 102." The Den Den blinked before Shanks spoke. "That's not that high." Benn sighed. "Ace's core lies at around 88. For him to have 102, is close to 115 for us. Ice bath? Ice towels?" Trevor nodded. "Tried it all. Not even a reaction." Shanks spoke. "I thought an ice bath for a fever was a myth." The Den Den nodded as Benn spoke. "Yes, for a normal fever. This doesn't sound normal. Ice baths are to manage the fever so it is no longer dangerous when it's dangerously high." Trevor nodded. "Yeah. Marco is currently trying with all he can to cool his chest down." Shanks spoke again. "Why not the forehead?" Benn sighed. "Heart is in the chest, cooling the chest can cool the blood faster and then send the cold blood around. Can I explain everything later, Shanks?" "Okay," Said Shanks, before Benn gave a hum as he thought.
Then the Den Den blinked. "What is your location?" Trevor said which island, which had the Den Den nod. "How fast is the phoenix when flying with someone? Faster than the ship at full speed?" Trevor looked at him, and the captain nodded. "Yes, much faster." The Den Den nodded. "Okay. Try and get it down, do anything you can and repeat. Send Marco to Heuksando." Trevor blinked. "Why? What would th- wait. Karin." The Den Den nodded. "Yes. Get her to you as fast as you can." Whitebeard felt confused. "Why would we get her?" The Den Den gave a breath. "Her blood gives you strength. Hopefully, a strength boost will be enough to help his body fight." That made sense and he nodded, and Trevor did the same. "We will. We will call as soon as anything changes." The Den Den nodded. "Please do. I hope this will work." Trevor nodded. "I do the same. Bye."
Then the Den Den went back to sleep, and they updated Marco and Bay, and Marco instantly left after getting the coordinates. It might take some hours, maybe half a day. It wasn't too far away, but with the boat, it would have taken about 3 days to get there if the wind was in their favor. This was fastest as Marco's phoenix was fast. It would take him longer to get back as he would have Karin on his back, but still much faster than them sailing.
As Marco left, Trevor took over the job to do his best to lower Ace's fever, but it didn't work, it stayed high. Ace spoke a few times, but it made no sense. He was completely delirious. His breath was so strained too. This wasn't good. The captain also did his best to help, but they couldn't do much more. So, he updated everyone that this was dire, but hopefully Karin could help, and everyone hoped for the same.
14 hours later, Ace's fever had not gone more up, but also not down, when Marco was sighted. That was good. When they landed, Marco didn't say a word to them as he followed Karin to the infirmary, and Whitebeard followed. When they got to the infirmary, Trevor looked glad to see her, before Karin went to the bed and looked at Ace, moving a hand to his forehead, before tilting her head. "He's dying." Trevor nodded. "He is. Can you help?" Karin nodded. "I can try." Her voice was still completely monotone.
Bay then came over and had a syringe ready, looking at Karin. "I'm ready to draw your blood." Karin shook her head, but didn't speak as she took a dagger from her side and cut her palm, before making a fist and moving it over Ace's mouth, before she let some blood drops fall into his mouth. Bay blinked. "That works too." After about 5 drops fell into Ace's mouth, Karin moved her hand away and got a small bandage from Bay, and he hoped this would work. When nothing changed for a minute, he did feel a bit crestfallen, but Trevor shook his head and said it might take some minutes for it to work fully. After a bit, they went and put more ice cubes in the bowl with water and filled it with cold water. Trying to make sense of this. How did Ace get this fever? Karin had sat down in a chair and sat straight and looked at nothing, just straight ahead.
As they were talking, Trevor suddenly blinked, before he moved over to Ace, moving a hand to his forehead, before he looked at them. "Did any of you put a wet cloth on his forehead?" They shook their heads, before Trevor smiled, before he gave a breathless laugh, before he then looked at Bay. "He's sweating." Bay blinked and moved over, also feeling his skin, blinking. "His skin is clammy." Whitebeard wasn't sure this was good or not, and looked at Bay. "What does that mean?" Trevor answered first. "It means his body now knows his temperature is high and is trying to cool him down. This means he's getting better." Whitebeard blinked, before he felt a relieved breath leave him.
Trevor then moved to lift Ace. "Let's put him in the ice bath now, maybe it works a bit this time." Whitebeard nodded, he hoped for it. They then got to the room the bath was in, and they filled it with ice again, and then waited a minute, before they moved Ace to the ice bath, and when he was put down, his breath shook, before his body started to shiver, and that made Trevor laugh. "He's shivering!" Whitebeard blinked, and Marco had a smile as he spoke. "He didn't shiver before, yoi. It's working. His body is reacting to it. This is really good, yoi." That was good to hear and made Whitebeard glad. "How long can he be in there?" Bay clicked her tongue. "Max 10 minutes." That was good to know.
Bay then went and got a thermometer, moved it to Ace's forehead, before it beeped, and Bay nodded. "101,5." Marco gave a breath. "It's going down, yoi." Trevor nodded. "Thank God for that." Whitebeard nodded, he agreed. They then waited a minute, before Bay checked again. "100,7." It was still going down, and that was good. Ace was still shivering, but his breathing was actually getting better, not being as shallow as it had been. Bay then checked each minute, and it was going down slowly. After about 5 minutes passed, Ace breathing normally now, Ace blinked his eyes up, before he looked down at himself. "...why am I in an ice bath?" Trevor blinked. "Ace?" Ace turned and looked at Trevor, seeming confused. "Why am I in an ice bath, Trevor?" Trevor gave a breath. "Thank God, you're not delirious anymore."
Ace blinked. "Delirious?" Trevor nodded. "Your fever was 102." Ace blinked. "102? I've never been over 95." Trevor nodded. "Yeah. You were dying. We had to get Karin to give her blood to you." Ace blinked. "What? Wait, how long since I collapsed on deck?" Trevor sighed. "Almost 2 days." Ace blinked. "I don't remember any of it. I remember you lifted me, then nothing." Trevor nodded. "Was about then that you got delirious." Ace blinked. "Why did I get this fever?" Trevor moved his hand a bit. "We have absolutely no clue." Ace blinked. "Isn't Karin here?" Trevor nodded. "Yeah. Why?" Ace hummed. "She has a trick up her sleeve." Trevor blinked. "Okay. Let's get you out of here then." Ace hummed and looked down at the water. "It actually feels good."
Trevor blinked. "Yup. Still delirious. You hate the cold!" Ace rolled his eyes. "I am really warm! I don't like to be cold, but I don't like extreme warmth! I like to be at a normal temperature!" Trevor blinked. "Yeah, that makes sense. How long can he be in there now?" The last part was asked at Bay, who looked at her clock. "2 more minutes." Ace hummed. "Is that based on 10 or 15 minutes?" Bay blinked. "10. Which is the max." Ace shook his head a bit. "No. 15 is when the person is with their mind, which I feel like I am now. 10 is when the person is not." Bay blinked. "Did not know that. I'll add 5 more minutes." Ace nodded. "Thank you." Bay then checked Ace's temperature again and nodded. "97,3." Ace blinked and moved a hand to his forehead. "Damn, that is still high. No wonder I feel warm." Trevor moved his hand to Ace's forehead. "Nothing close to what it was. Again, 102." Ace nodded. "That is awfully high. I think that would be close to 115." Trevor nodded. "Benn said the same."
Ace nodded, before he sighed. "Okay, starting to feel cold now. So I should get up." Ace then stood up and was handed a towel to dry himself, even though it wouldn't do much as Ace still had pants on, but was given a new pair so he could be dry. They then walked out to the infirmary, where Karin still sat on a chair, back straight and looking straight ahead, before she looked at them. "Ace. You are up. I am glad." Still no emotions in her voice. Ace smiled. "Thank you, Karin. I owe you one this time." Karin shook her head. "No. You owe me nothing." Ace hummed. "How about we make it even right away then? I think someone may have poisoned me. Could you check?" Karin nodded. "I can."
Trevor blinked. "Wait, she can do that?" Ace nodded and asked for a dagger, before he made a small wound on his finger, holding it out to Karin, who used her finger to take some off the blood on it, before she first smelled it, before she moved to taste it. She then closed her eyes, before she spoke. "Blood type O. Iron levels, normal. Sodium levels, normal. White blood cells, slightly elevated. Traces of peanuts. Traces of… can not be deciphered." Ace nodded. "Closest thing that you can compare it to." Karin nodded, eyes still closed. "A type of sympathomimetic poison." Ace nodded, moving a hand to his face. "Oh no." Then Ace gave a kind look to Karin. "But thank you, Karin. You did great." Karin opened her eyes. "I am glad to help." Ace smiled. "Why don't you grab some food?" Karin nodded, before she left the infirmary, and Ace moved his hand to his face again.
Trevor looked at Ace. "Who is it?" Ace sighed. "I think Andrew." Trevor blinked. "Wait, what? Why? He's not an assassin. His leg is messed up, he can't walk straight. He left long ago. No one has seen him for years." Ace nodded. "Yeah. But his signature thing is poison. He makes his own, and that's why Karin can't decipher it. It is self made." Trevor blinked. "But still, poison doesn't work well on you." Ace nodded. "Where the peanuts come in. I'm allergic." Trevor blinked. "Oh my God, that is smart." Whitebeard felt lost, and it seemed Marco did too as he spoke. "What does that mean, yoi?"
Ace sighed. "A poison needle laced with peanut essence. My fruit has issues to counter nuts once in my system, since I am allergic. The nuts weaken my entire system, but not so much I feel it, so the poison actually works." Trevor nodded. "But still. We would have seen him. He limps, even with a cane." Ace sighed. "No, it wasn't him who administered it. He isn't working alone." Trevor blinked. "How do you know?" Ace sighed. "Here is where the issue comes in. He doesn't know I'm allergic to nuts. Only assassins that know are you, Mika, and Moira. Not even Daisuke knows." Trevor's eyes widened. "You don't think…" Ace nodded. "Yes. He's working with someone on this crew. Who knows I am allergic to nuts. Someone I would trust. Andrew is brilliant, but he can't sneak. He must have teamed up with someone here who also wants me dead." Trevor blinked. "But why would Andrew want you dead?" Ace sighed. "His leg. I was the one who did it. It made him quit as he could no longer work. I know he wants me dead. But someone else does too, on this ship."
Whitebeard felt shocked. Someone wanted Ace dead here? Marco thought for a second. "But how will we find out who, yoi?" Ace nodded. "Andrew is a coward. We find him, we find out who did this. He would sell anyone to save his own skin. The reason I messed up his leg. He was dangerous to keep around." Trevor nodded. "Okay. So, he wants you dead. Someone on this crew might want you dead. It would make sense to be someone from the crew, as you wouldn't think about the fact they're close to you. But how did it get into your system?" Ace sighed. "Winter island." Trevor closed his eyes. "Your body aches. A small needle wouldn't alert you." Ace nodded. "Yes. This has been very carefully planned. Which would fit Andrew. We just need to find his accomplice. Andrew shouldn't be too far away I think. In case this failed, so he could refill the poison or try another one." Trevor blinked. "You think…" Ace nodded. "Yes. He is on this island." That meant they could find him.
Ace then sighed. "But, Karin's blood works for about an hour." That made Bay speak up. "I will get some antihistamines to counter the nuts. I don't know how to counter the poison on the top of my head." Ace hummed. "Benzodiazepines. To keep my mind with me. But I think just antihistamines will work. Also," Ace turned and looked at them. "Don't tell anyone I am better." Whitebeard blinked. "Why not?" Trevor spoke. "In case we are right, and the person who did this is in the crew and tries again. Everyone needs to pretend Ace is still dying or dead." That made sense.
Ace then explained how the guy looked in appearance and how he walked with the or crutches. He would be easily recognized. They then went out as Bay started to treat Ace again, and when everyone asked if Ace was better, they didn't answer that, and said they needed to find the one responsible for this, and headed off the ship to search. They got into 3 parties. One where Marco led, one where Marco led, and one where Whitebeard led. After just 10 minutes, Paul came running to his party and said they had found Andrew, and showed them the way.
Whitebeard met up with the group, who had a man with them that fit the description of Andrew, and Trevor seemed to recognize him. But based on his words, he was denying that he worked with anyone or that he had done this. Trevor then hummed. "Okay, fine. We know it was you. So, we should just kill you then. I mean, if you worked alone, so you can't do it again." Trevor then looked at him. "Why don't you do the honors? Ace is your son." Whitebeard blinked, before he nodded. He would take pleasure in that. No one hurts his family. He took his war scythe out, on his way to ready it, and even before he moved it, Andrew yelled. "Okay! I didn't work alone! I'll tell you who if you let me go!" Whitebeard blinked. Wow, that was quick. Usually, people begged for their life after he started to move the scythe, not before. He really was a coward.
Trevor nodded. "Who? And why should I believe the name you say?" Andrew blinked, before he fumbled as he searched his pockets, before he found what he was after, a parchment he handed to Trevor. Trevor took it and opened it as it was folded, before he blinked. "I see." Andrew nodded. "S- so, I can go now?" Trevor hummed. "No. I don't recognize this name that well. You need to point him out." Whitebeard blinked. That sounded weird. But then he got it. Trevor wanted to make sure it was right. They then started the trek back to the boat, Jozu carrying Andrew in front by his collar, him a bit behind with Trevor, who handed the parchment to him, and Whitebeard read it, making him feel shocked. Ace was right, it was someone on the crew. Whitebeard knew he had had issues with Ace, but he had been sure it had blown over, but it hadn't.
When they got to the boat, many were out, and he was about to go get the rest, when Andrew spoke, pointing. "It was him! He is my accomplice!" The guy he pointed at looked shocked. "Who is this? What have I done?" Andrew snorted. "His umbrella. I made it. Push the button next to the one to unfold it. A needle will come out the top." That would be easily proved if it was correct or not. He had also never used an umbrella before, but said in case of snow, which he didn't question, even though the sky had no clouds. Trevor walked up and held his hand out, but the umbrella was not handed over, which was a signal that it was him in his mind. It ended with Trevor grabbing the umbrella and taking it by force, before he pushed the button, and yes, a small needle came out. Trevor moved it up and smelled it. "Well well, peanuts. What a weird thing to dip your umbrella's secret needle into."
The man looked snorted. "And what now? A life for a life?" Trevor hummed. "No. No lives were lost." The man blinked, before Trevor smirked. "Oh Bunny!" Then Dust cawed, before Ace appeared, looking at the man. "Hi, Squardo. Missed me?" Squardo looked shocked. "...no. You're supposed to be dead!" Ace hummed. "Well, I don't feel like dying yet." Squardo looked shocked, before he quickly got his weapon out, on his way to attack Ace, when Ace just moved his hand, making him stop in his tracks as he lost his sword, seeming to be in a trance. Andrew then spoke. "Can I leave now?" Ace hummed, before he turned to look at the man, giving a smile, and he was sure Ace would let him go, when Ace lifted his hand and snapped his fingers. Then Andrew was gone in black smoke, the only thing left was his cane and a gun.
Trevor chuckled. "Deserved." Trevor then looked at Squardo. "What about him?" Ace hummed and looked at the captain. "What do you say?" Whitebeard thought for a second. "You were the one he tried to kill. You choose." Ace nodded and thought, before he chuckled. He gave a small whistle, and Dust came from his nest and landed on Ace's shoulder and Ace looked at it. "Take him to Gwaneumdo." Dust nodded with a caw, before he flew to Squardo's shoulder and then they were gone in black smoke.
As he was gone, Trevor spoke. "Where is that? Never heard of it." Ace hummed. "A somewhat decent uninhabited island in the calm belt. Visiting it is basically impossible because of reefs and shallow water, no one takes the chance to capsize. He will be able to survive of the nature, but no one will come to save him either. He's stuck. If he tries to swim, a seaking will eat him." Trevor blinked. "Cool. Serves him right." Ace nodded. "Yeah." Trevor then looked at Ace. "You good now?" Ace nodded. "Yeah, I feel good." Trevor nodded and moved his hand to Ace's forehead. "You are ice cold. Great." Ace nodded. "I feel normal." That was good.
Haruta then looked at Ace. "I am sorry I said you felt normal when you didn't." Ace shook his head. "No. You didn't know I should feel really cold. It's not your fault." Haruta nodded, but still looked a bit guilty. But it wasn't her fault. For now, things were fine.

Marco gave a breath as Ace moved to lie down next to him, before they tried to catch their breaths, and Ace grabbed their boxers as they were next to the bed so it was easily reached from the bed. It had now been 1 week since Ace had had the horrible fever and almost died. And things had been fine. They then relaxed, before there was a knock on the door and Ace sighed, before he gave a come in, and Trevor stood there. "Hey, emergency meeting." Ace sighed. "Fine, we're coming." Trevor nodded. "Good." Ace then stood up, as he was the closest to the edge, but as soon as he stood up, he fell to the floor, seeming to land hard.
Trevor, who had started to leave, turned around as he heard the bang, and blinked when he saw Ace on the floor, and Marco did as well as he felt worried. Trevor walked into the room. "Bunny?" Marco leaned a bit up to see if Ace was fine, and Ace leaned up on his arms before he looked at his legs shocked. "Wha-" Ace said shocked, and moved a hand to his legs. Marco moved to stand up as well, to help Ace up, but Trevor was fastest and moved to help Ace up. "What is with you?" Ace shook his head as he was helped up. "I don't know. It was like I couldn't put any weight on them. But I can feel touch." Trevor rolled his eyes as he helped Ace up. "Come on Bunny, sto-" As Ace was up and Trevor let go of him, Ace fell again and Trevor catched him before he could hit the floor again. "Bunny?"
Ace looked shocked, before he looked down at his feet, and as he was being held up by Trevor, he tried to put weight on his legs, while being held up, and Ace's legs instantly started shaking, before they gave out and Trevor kept Ace up so he didn't fall. Trevor seemed to notice this too and gave a worried look to Ace. "Bunny?" Ace shook his head and looked at Trevor shocked. "I- I can't use my legs." Trevor blinked, looking shocked, and Marco was up and moved a hand to Ace's back. "What, yoi?" Ace shook his head and looked a bit scared and shocked. "I can't stand on my legs." Marco blinked, Ace was fine a bit ago.
Trevor looked to be thinking, before he helped Ace stand upright. "Okay, focus, Bunny. Stand." Ace nodded, breathing a bit faster than normal as he looked at his legs. Then Trevor started to let go of Ace, and Ace's legs started to shake, before they gave out and Ace started to fall before Trevor catched him. Ace looked shocked and scared now, and Trevor looked worried. "Can you move them?" Ace nodded and moved his leg up. "Yes! I can feel and move them! But they won't support me!" Ace then looked at Trevor, looking scared. "What's wrong with me!" Said Ace, sounding panicked. And Marco was as well.
Marco moved a hand to Ace's leg and touched it. "You feel this, yoi?" Ace nodded. "Yes! Why can't I walk!" Trevor looked shocked. "Okay, guess who's going to the infirmary." Ace looked at Trevor, and he did expect Ace to say no, as he hated the infirmary, but Ace swallowed and looked at his legs. "I can't walk…" Trevor nodded. "Which is why we are going to the infirmary. Can you put any weight on them? Marco, get his other side." Said Trevor as he moved to just support Ace's left side, and Marco went to the right side, Ace having an arm over their shoulders as he was supported. By now, Ace was breathing hard and looking scared.
Trevor spoke. "Okay, try walking, see how much weight they can support." Ace nodded and he felt the arm around his shoulder relax a bit as Ace lowered himself, and yet again, his legs started to shake, before they gave out, and Ace moved to lift himself again, looking at his legs with a terrified look. "I… can't walk. They can't support my weight…" Trevor nodded. "Heading to Bay, right now." Marco nodded as he agreed, and Ace blinked. "I am basically naked!" Trevor blinked. "Bunny, you can't walk, we need to go." Ace shook his head. "I will not embarrass myself!" Trevor rolled his eyes. "Fine! Marco, hold him." Then Trevor moved away as Marco supported Ace fully, before Trevor grabbed Ace's cape, and brought it around Ace. "Can we go now?" Ace nodded. "Okay."
Then they started to walk to the infirmary, Ace being supported by him and Trevor. At times, Ace tried to walk, but his legs gave out instantly, and he could see Ace panicking internally. Marco was also very confused about what had happened. Ace was fine half an hour ago. And they hadn't been doing anything that could damage his legs. And it didn't sound as nerve damage either, as he could move and feel them. This was really odd and worrisome. As they walked, they saw many looking at them worriedly, before someone asked them what was happening, and Trevor looked at them. "Tell Whitebeard that Ace is in the infirmary and won't come for the meeting, and we don't know what's wrong yet." Paul nodded and started to run for the meeting room, while they continued. Ace still looked down at his legs in shock, seeming almost horror stricken.
When they got to the infirmary and walked in, he saw a few nurses around, but not Bay, so Marco spoke as he looked at Tifa. "Get Bay, yoi." Tifa nodded and did, while they walked to the closest bed. As they were close to it, Bay came out of her office. "What is it?" Marco was about to speak and Trevor did. "Ace can't walk." Bay blinked. "What?" Trevor nodded, and then just let go of Ace, who didn't fall as Marco was still holding around him, but the side he had been supporting fell and then moved to hold around Marco fully as he started to fall. It seemed to be enough to convince Bay, who blinked, before she hurried over as Marco helped Ace sit on the bed.
When Ace was seated, Bay was in front of him. "What happened? Can you feel this?" She asked as she touched his knee, and Ace nodded. "Yes! I feel them and I can move them! But they can't support my weight!" Bay blinked, before she moved and touched Ace's legs more, before she took a pen and moved it underneath Ace's foot, making his foot react. Bay nodded. "No sensory issues. Can you move them?" Ace nodded and lifted his legs, before he bent them at the knee, and then put it down again, making Bay blink. "Can you stand?" Ace shook his head. "No! I can't!" Bay stood up and moved her hand, asking him to stand.
Ace gave a dissatisfied look, before he sighed, and tried to stand up. He got up, and almost got to standing, before his legs shook, before they gave out and Ace fell forward, Marco catching him so he didn't fall to the floor. Ace didn't look happy, he probably hid his fear behind a stern mask right now. Before he was probably very shocked and therefore didn't manage to hide it right away. Marco then helped Ace sit down on the bed again, Bay looking thoughtful. "When did this happen?" Ace shook his head. "I don't know. I just tried to stand up and couldn't. I was fine before I went to lie down." Bay frowned. "And you noticed nothing before you stood up?" Ace nodded. "I didn't. They feel normal, even now, but when I stand, it's like… they don't work at all. They feel normal."
Bay nodded and tried to think, but she also looked lost, which wasn't good. Bay always had a thought on what it might be. And then Bay blinked. "Wait, you were in bed?" Ace nodded. "Yes." Bay hummed. "And what were you doing in bed?" Ace shrugged. "Nothing." Bay lifted an eyebrow, and then Ace blinked. "Oh yeah, we had sex." Bay nodded. "And who were the bottom?" Ace blinked. "Me." Bay nodded. "And there you go." Ace blinked. "What do you- oh God no. Don't tell me-" Bay nodded. "Yep. Guess it has never happened to you before?" Ace shook his head. "No, but I have heard about it. I thought it was a bit of a myth." Bay nodded. "It is not. It usually doesn't happen to the top, as an orgasm from the prostate is different, like how many females get after vaginal sex, because of the g spot." Ace moved a hand to his face. "Well, this is embarrassing." Trevor started to laugh.
Marco still felt confused, and looked at Bay. "I don't get it. Is Ace okay, yoi?" Bay turned and looked at him, looking amused. "Congratulations, Commander Marco. You made Commander Ace orgasm so good that he got paralyzed temporarily from the waist down." Marco blinked. "What?" Ace moved his other hand to his face as well as he looked embarrassed and Bay nodded. "It is not that common, but at times, an orgasm, especially from being penetrated, like in anal sex or vaginal sex, and when hit the right places, the body will feel very good, the reason we sometimes spasms. But many try not to have these spasms, and that can make when the orgasm passes, the muscles in the legs are still trying to spasm. So, when you try to put weight on them, they shake as they are still trying to spasm, so that weight is too much for them, and you fall. Most times, you can put some weight on them, and it's usually one leg. But this is probably Commander Ace's first time experiencing this, and the first time can be more extreme."
Marco blinked. "I didn't know that was a thing, yoi." Trevor moved down to his knees as he was still laughing. "Bunny! He made you feel so good you got paralyzed! Holy God! Amazing!" He said between his laughs, before Ace gave a glare at Trevor. "Shut. Up." Trevor looked at Ace, not laughing, before he started to laugh again, and Ace moved his head to his hands. "I can't believe this." Marco blinked, shocked, before he moved a hand to Ace's back. "It's okay, yoi." Ace shook his head. "We came to the infirmary for this. Everyone will know." Marco blinked. "Maybe not everyone, yoi." Ace just sighed, Trevor still laughing.
Bay then moved a hand to Ace's leg. "May I try something?" Ace nodded, and Bay grabbed his leg, before he did some stretches and moved it a bit, before she repeated on the other leg. "There. Now try standing up." Ace nodded and did, and Marco stood ready to catch him, but Ace didn't fall. His legs still somewhat shook, before it went away, and Ace nodded. "Okay, I'm good." Bay nodded. "Perfect." Bay then gave a sly look to him. "Good to know you know how to make others feel good in bed, Commander Marco." Then Bay left for her office again. Well, this has been interesting.
They then moved towards the door to head out on deck, Ace had his cape around himself again, so it didn't look like he was just in his boxers. It just looked like he was barefoot. As they were halfway to their room, they met the others, which were Pops and most of the commanders, and some others from other places. All looking at them worriedly, Pops speaking. "Paul said you needed to go to the infirmary and that something was wrong with Ace. Are you okay, son?" Ace nodded. "Yes, I am fine." Pops looked relieved. "That's good. What was wrong?" Ace was on his way to talk, probably to divert the conversation, when Trevor took a step forward with a sly grin, and Marco was on his way to talk, to stop Trevor, when Trevor spoke. "Birdy Boy and Bunny had such amazing sex that it temporarily paralyzed Bunny from the waist down."
Everyone blinked, Ace moving a hand to his face, looking embarrassed, when Thatch spoke. "R-really?" Trevor nodded. "Yes! Imagine feeling so good you can't even walk afterwards!" Everyone looked shocked, frozen in place. And he expected Ace to lash out at Trevor, all from glaring, yelling, to hurting him, when Ace simply moved a bit towards Marco, before he took a step to him and leaned his head on his chest. "Save me." He said in a low voice, and Marco blinked, before he smiled and moved an arm to be around Ace's back, stroking it before he looked down at Ace. "It's okay, yoi." He said as he lifted Ace's hood to be over him, shielding him from everyone. Ace probably wanted to run away, but his legs were probably unsteady and didn't want to take the chance of falling in front of everyone. And they were close to his mark, so teleporting there won't do anything, and Dust was away, and Ace probably didn't want to leave the boat either. And, Ace only had on his cape and boxers as well, appearing somewhere basically naked wasn't smart.
He then looked at Pops. "Are we still having the meeting, yoi?" Pops shook his head. "No, we figured it out." Marco nodded, and then started to walk the last bit to his room. "Good, we will be in our room for a bit, yoi." Then he walked towards the room and kept Ace in his arms, shielding him from everyone, who seemed to get Ace was really embarrassed about this. Trevor then laughed. "Bunny! Come on! Don't go!" Ace just shook his head against him, not speaking, and Marco smiled down at Ace. "It will be okay, yoi." Then he continued the walk, everyone seemed to realize Ace is uncomfortable, but most had a smile and a few gave a chuckle. He then walked to his room and sat down on bed, Ace moving to sit on his lap with his head still in his chest. Marco clapped Ace on his back. "We're safe now, yoi."
Ace gave a nod, before he leaned back and gave a sigh. "This is so embarrassing." Marco hummed. "Nah, it's going to be fine, yoi." Ace sighed, but didn't speak, so Marco leaned his head against Ace's. "But it is good to know I know how to make you feel good, yoi." Ace's cheeks got a bit red at that actually, before he gave a chuckle. "Oh God, so embarrassing." Marco gave a laugh, and he was glad Ace could smile about it. He got that Ace was embarrassed too, but this would go fine.
They stayed in the room for a bit, before they headed out for supper, and thankfully, no one mentioned what had happened or gave any sort of looks to Ace, which was good. The only thing was that Trevor looked a bit amused. They all probably got this was really embarrassing for Ace. But no one mentioned it, which was good.
When evening came for full, Marco joined Pops in his room and played some cards, which they hadn't done for a while. As they were playing, Pops hummed. "That earlier, son. With Ace. Was Trevor saying the truth? Or just trying to embarrass Ace?" Marco hummed as he put a card down. "The truth, yoi. And Ace was really embarrassed about it." Pops nodded. "I get that. But I also get that maybe he was scared. Suddenly not able to walk and all." Marco nodded. "We all were. Bay also found it really amusing, yoi." Pops nodded. "I can see that. But it was shocking to hear. I didn't know that was possible. To be temporarily paralyzed after having sex." Marco thought for a second, before he decided to explain how Bay had done. "Bay said, that after sex, especially after penetration as it causes a different stimuli, the muscles in the legs basically overreact and refuse to work for a bit, yoi."
Whitebeard blinked, before he gave a nod and a smile. "As long as he's okay now." Marco nodded. "He is, yoi." Pops probably didn't fully know who had the roles in the bedroom, and he basically just said Ace was the bottom, which he knew many would react to, as Ace seemed to be a top, based on how he acted. But then again, many felt that about Marco too. They then continued the card game, chatting a bit as they did, and Marco really enjoyed this, just a small moment where he and Pops just enjoyed each other's company.
After an hour, the clock closing in on 1am, there was a knock on the door before it opened and Bay came in, making Marco blink. "Bay, yoi?" Bay looked at him. "I need to do a small test on Pops." Marco blinked, before he shrugged, turning back to the card game. "Okay, yoi." He said as he put a card down. He didn't care, Bay could do the test while they played. It was probably just something small like a blood test or something, and Bay now had the time. Pops then sighed. "I think you should leave, son." Marco blinked and looked up at Pops. He usually begged him to stay when Bay needed to do some tests, to not be faced with her sternness alone. Or, that's how it usually was.
He was about to speak, when Bay spoke. "He is right, Commander Marco. You should leave." Also very odd. Bay knew that Marco often took her side, and then they both fought to make Pops do what they wanted. But now both wanted him gone? Marco nodded and stood up. "Okay. Speak later, Pops, yoi. Goodnight, Bay." Both gave a goodbye, before he left and Bay closed the door behind him. As Marco walked to his room, he couldn't help but think of how weird this was. Never had he been asked to leave like this, one of them always wanted him to stay. Was Bay hiding something? Was Pops hiding something? Marco shook his head, he would try and not think too hard on it, it was probably nothing.
