Chapter 1: A Great Power

After an unsettling night for Gil Parker, the dawn of a new day has finally come. The blue-haired boy began to open his eyes and noticed that he was lying on his own bed. He sat on the edge of the bed to scratch his eyes a little to wake up better. He decided to look at the time, and it turns out that he got up early. He still had time to go to school. In fact, he had plenty of time. However, strange things began to happen to Gil. The first thing that happened is that Gil wanted to take the lens from him. But he saw something shocking. He noticed that his magnifying glasses were now causing blurry vision. The boy was confused and he decided to take them off. And he noticed one thing: He already saw better without his glasses. He no longer needed them. The boy was confused and decided to take off his shirt to change clothes, and there he noticed another drastic change. The boy had muscles in his arms, he had good pecs and a marked abdomen. As if suddenly the results of the gym appeared spontaneously. He was in awe of his body. He was no longer skinny and wimpy like any nerd, now he had a more athletic physical body.

"But...w...what is this? I feel...much better...I look...amazing" The boy decided to model himself in front of the mirror to be able to see his own body better. He didn't understand what the hell happened. Parker had a little suspicion that it could have been the mysterious bite of that radioactive spider. But before he could think about it, someone called to him from the door.

"Gil! Gil! Come down for breakfast!" It was his aunt´s voice.

"Coming!" Gil said while he was seeing himself in the mirror.

"Hey…. How do you feel now, Gil? Yesterday you were feeling very bad" May asked worriedly.

"I feel much better now...I think...I think I just needed rest" Gil answered. He decided to get ready for school. He decided to go down to eat with his aunt and uncle. The little family had a very nice time.

"Hey, boy! You look much better now, huh? I even notice you different" Uncle Ben admitted.

"Huh? Different? I feel different….In a good way" Gil commented with a smile.

"I told you May. The boy just needed to rest" Ben smiled at her.

"I was very worried. But I´m happy that you're okay" May admitted.

"Well….I have to go to school. See you later, May! See you later, Ben!" Gil kissed them on their cheeks and he left them.

He decided to walk to school. One slight change he noticed in his walk was his own physical condition. He felt that he could walk faster and without getting so tired. That surprised the blue-haired boy. As he walked, he was met with an unpleasant surprise. It was a pack of stray dogs. They were like 4 and he looked aggressive. They followed Gil.

"Grrrrrrr"

"Oh Oh! Ahhhhhh!" The boy decided to run away from aggressive animals. What he didn't realize is that he ended up getting cornered in a dead end. There was no escape. The dogs decided to corner him to attack him. Gil noticed that he couldn't get out of there, but something strange happened. He tried to climb the wall although according to him, it was a useless attempt. But when he put his hands on the wall and started to climb….he noticed that he was climbing. His hands and tail stuck to the wall with no problem. Getting away from the danger of dogs. They just barked and left. Gil was surprised to see himself stuck to the wall. He could climb walls now?! "W….What?!...What's this?" He looked at his hands and noticed that he could stick things to his hand. That's why he was able to climb the wall without problems. The boy decided to try to climb other walls without anyone noticing. And the great thing is that he got it. Somehow, he acquired the ability to climb walls. The boy noticed the time and was going to be late. "OH MY?! I'm going to be late... Or at least... I was going to be late" Gil smirked a little. Gil decided to parkour around the city to get to school fast. Thanks to his new ability to climb walls, parkour was easy. Although in that race, he noticed something incredible. His agility and speed had improved. His athletic ability was incredible! Whatever it was, something was really changing in him, and it was something for the better.

Meanwhile, at New Bubble York High School. The students in Gil's group were ready for their first class. They entered the classroom. Before the teacher could enter, Gil came quickly.

"Gil Parker! Here!" He said quickly.

"Euh….Parker….You were on time this time...Class hadn't even started...But I'm glad to see you early for the first time" The teacher said quietly.

"Ohhh hehehe It's the routine" Gil said nervously. He decided to sit next to his best friend, Goby Osborn.

"Dude….Hey... today you look different" Goby commented surprised.

"What are you talking about?" Gil was confused.

"Your look...You changed your look...A nice change, man. You don't wear those nerdy glasses anymore...and your clothes...That jacket looks good on you...And hey...messy hair...It looks good on you" Goby explained his change. Gil noticed that his hair was a bit disheveled from the parkour career he took. "Pst…The girls are noticing you too" Goby whispered with a wink. Gil saw that the girls in the classroom looked at him for a while, but when he turned to see the girls they giggled and turned to look. And although he didn't know, one of them was Molly Jane Watson.

Lunch time came and most of the students were in the school cafeteria. Gil decided to have lunch with his only friend Goby. Turns out Nonny still works at Oscorp, so they didn't see him in high school anymore. The blue-haired boy had trouble eating. The cutlery and the glass stuck to his hand. It seems that the ability to have sticky hands was something that Gil was struggling with at the moment.

"Old man, is everything okay? Have you had a problem with the cutlery, huh?" Goby asked funnily.

"Ugh….I don´t know…This...I don't know what it is!...Very sticky!...You know? I'm going to change cutlery" Gil said bothered.

The boy got up to ask for more cutlery, although the fork was stuck to his hand and then fell off. But something incredible was going to happen. Molly Jane Watson was ordering her lunch and she took her lunch tray and was going to sit with her friends Deema, Oona and Zooli. But she didn't notice that the floor was wet from cleaning. So Molly tripped and was going to fall with the food on top of her. However, before that happened...Gil noticed something. Goosebumps prickled on his skin and he felt a vibration in his head…as if warning of danger. And as an involuntary reaction, Gil managed to catch Molly with one of his arms to prevent her from falling to the floor. And he with his other hand grabbed the tray of food and with speed managed to catch Molly's food with the tray without causing a mess. All the students marveled at those incredible reactions from Gil. The boy looked Molly in the eyes and his heart rate was increasing. She was literally on his arm.

"A…Are you okay, Molly?" Gil said surprisedly for his own ability.

"Y…yeah…Thanks to you…..Wow! I didn't know you were so fast and skillful" Molly said with a smile.

"Oh hehehe….Well….There are things you don't know about me, Molly" He smiled nervously.

"Like what?...What do you have...beautiful blue eyes...Wow...With your glasses I couldn't admire your...pretty eyes" Molly said with a blush in her face. Gil blushed too.

"Yeah….My eyes have always been like this" Gil smiled tenderly. They both forgot that everyone was watching the scene. Some students were surprised while others were smiling mischievously. Among them are Goby and Molly's friends.

"Hehehe nice, bro!" Goby smirked funnily.

"That's not what I expected" Deema Stacy was speechless.

"Euh….Gil…Maybe we have to….." Molly said nervously. He understood her body language.

"Oh right, right. Sorry!...Just let me…Mmmmm" Gil set Molly's food tray down on a table and tried to pull away from the pink-haired girl. But because of his newfound power, his hand was still attached to her "Ugh….This is a sticky situation. I think...I got it..." At last Gil managed to detach his hand from his friend. However, the problems were only beginning.

"PARKER?!"

"Uh oh!" Gil was scared to hear that voice. It was Dash Thompson, Molly's boyfriend, with a face full of fury. He was angry at what he saw. Beside him he had two friends. One was a large purple fish and the other was crab.

"DO YOU THINK YOU'RE VERY FUNNY, PARKER? Trying to steal my girl, huh?!" Dash said bothered.

"Hey Dash, calm down! It's not what it seems, he just saved me from a fall" Molly defended Gil.

"Yeah…She's right! Please, I don't want problems" Gil said nervously.

"Oh yeah? You should have thought that before you touched my girl. You must know your place in this school, nerd!" The blonde guppy prepared his fist.

"Come on, Dash! Don't make an unnecessary scene" Molly tried to calm him.

"I don't want to fight" Gil said nervously.

"Maybe a beating will make you reflect!" Dash decided to punch Gil in his face. At that moment, Gil felt a vibration in his head again and his body reacted quickly, dodging the blow. As if he had a sixth sense activated. Everyone was surprised by Gil's agility and how he dodged that blow.

"Wow!" All the students were amazed.

"Grrrr That was just luck! Take this!" The blonde guppy punched him again. But Gil continued to avoid his attacks quickly.

"Nice, Gil!" Goby said excitedly.

"Fight! Fight! Fight!" The rest of the students shouted.

"Boys, stop!" Molly tried to calm the situation. Dash was still trying to hit Gil, but it was useless. The blue-haired boy managed to dodge the blows.

"Come on!" Dash ordered his two friends to attack him at the same time.

"Hey! It isn't fair!" Deema shouted. What she didn't expect is that Gil used his new abilities to make them hit each other.

"This is over now!" Dash tried to hit him in his face. This time, Gil grabbed his hand and squeezed it "Ahhhhhh!"

"...Well…..My turn….I guess…" He decided to punch him in the chest. What Parker didn't know is that this blow threw the school bully into the food trays and he ended up injured and full of leftovers from lunch, thus being humiliated in public. Everyone started to laugh at Dash and in turn, celebrated Gil's victory. He was stunned to see what a simple hit caused. He now understood that another of his new abilities was super strength.

"Parker...you're...insane!" Oona decided to leave quickly. Obviously she was scared

"That was good" A student said.

"Yeah! Nice, Parker!"

"Man, where did you learn to move like that?" Goby asked excitedly.

"I….I….I´m not sure….But hey….I…" Gil tried to be proud of himself. But he saw Molly´s face and his smile disappeared. Molly was disappointed and looked upset.

"You! You! What was that?! You didn't have to!" Molly decided to leave them alone.

"Haha! Bad one, Parker!" Dash tried to laugh at him.

"On No! I'm upset with you too!" Molly was furious and she left him behind.

"Oh come on! Baby…come back!" Dash tried to apologize to her. He followed her. Gil just sighed.

"And there...I lost points" Gil commented, disappointed in himself.

"Man…" Goby tried to comfort him.

Gil decided to get out of there immediately and ran away. He was scared by his new abilities. Indeed, he managed to put Dash in his place. The boy who was bothering him for years. But he was also making the others scared of him. The boy began to notice that his abilities needed to be controlled. So, one day, he decided to learn how to keep control of his new powers.

The boy began to get into abandoned buildings to start training his skills. Just to keep them under control and improve a bit. He performed parkour, he began to control his power to stick to objects and began to better measure his strength. So that next time, he wouldn't cause trouble. Although he improved a little over time, something did not make him comfortable. Molly didn't want to talk to him for a long time. If their relationship was distant, now it was more. One day, in his room, he was on the phone with his best friend.

"You have to help me. Molly doesn't want to talk to me after I humiliate Dash in public" Gil commented his concern.

"I don´t know, Gil. Girls are complicated. What do you think if you buy him a present? I recommend something expensive. This way she will see that you care. Also, I'll tell you a secret. It's your chance to hook her up" Goby said with a smile.

"What are you talking about, Goby?" He was confused.

"Molly and Dash's relationship has been slowly fracturing. She is realizing how stupid and mean he is. It won't take long for her to break up with him. So, if you start earning points right now...She could be yours...Like you always wanted, friend" Goby explained the situation. Gil was happy to hear it.

"What do you think I should do for her to finally notice me?" Gil asked happily.

"Let's see...Molly Jane Watson is a popular girl and she's in a completely different league than you...even though you've improved a lot. Looking at the facts...Girls LOVE guys with a car. Believe me, with dad's car the girls love me. I just hope Deema notices me soon" Goby said funnily.

"Got it...I'll borrow my uncle Ben's car" Gil said innocently.

"NO, MAN! Not to offend but your uncle's car is a bit ... how do I tell you? Oh yeah! It's an old car! You don't want to take your girl for a ride in an old car. You must give him the best. You should get a cool new car!" Goby explained in the best way possible.

"But the coolest cars are extremely expensive! Neither May nor Ben can afford them" Gil said.

"Don't worry, old man. I can ask dad for a new car and he will give it to me. Do you want me to do you a favor?" Goby asked. The blue-haired boy was tempted. On the one hand, he wanted that luxury car so he could make Molly fall in love (or so he thinks). But he didn't want to take advantage of the goodwill of Goby or his father.

"Sorry, man. I can't take it...I want to win over Molly on my own...I'm going to see how I can get the money for my new car" Gil decided to do it alone.

"I respect it. Also, she will value personal effort But hey! Whenever you want I'll give it to you. You are my best friend. You are like a brother to me…." Goby commented about it until his dad called him.

"Goby Osborn! Come here!"

"Coming, dad!" Goby rolled his eyes "Sorry, Gil. I have to go. I think dad is upset about my math grade"

"Man! We'll talk about that later. See you soon, old man. Take care. Oh and send my regards to Mr. Osborn!" Gil said quickly.

"I will!" And the call ended.

Gil sighed and decided to start helping with the house cleaning for a moment. He picked up the newspaper from his uncle. Well, he always reads one in the morning. But his mind was occupied with something else.

"Man…..How will I get a car so I can get Molly's attention? Hmmmm hey ... In the newspaper there are good offers" The boy decided to look in the newspaper for used car deals. Luckily, most of them were pretty and at affordable prices. Obviously, it was still expensive for the Parker family. Gil found a beautiful $3,000 car "I like it. And his price is okay….But…How can I get $3,000?" Gil said nervously. As if by fate, he found a particular advertisement. An announcement that would change his life completely.

"Do you want to earn a lot of money quickly? Well, survive 3 minutes in the combat ring and win $3000! Only one match to win this incredible prize!"

Gil was stunned upon reading the news. That sounded like a golden opportunity. Just a fight to win a lot of money. What is necessary to get the car of his desire. Gil thought that he might have the upper hand in the fight with his new powers. The boy had the idea to use his new powers for his own benefit. After all, it's all for Molly, right?

"Hehehe….Here I go" Gil smirked. Finally, the Parker boy's plan began.

Wow...Looks like Gil has awakened his powers. And it seems that he will use them for selfish reasons. Will Gil earn that money? Will that be enough for her to notice him? That she awaits Gil in the future? These questions will be answered in the following chapters.
