Chapter 20: Green Goblin Strikes Back!
After many unfortunate events, good things begin to come. Gil Parker's life is full of ups and downs (sometimes more downs), but these days his life has gotten better. Obviously he still has to face economic and social situations, but now he has someone who is more attentive to him than ever. Both his civilian life and his heroic life were slowly improving. And all thanks to that person. One day, at New Bubble York High School, Gil Parker met with his friends, revealing a big surprise to all of them.
"No way! Are you two serious?!" Goby was shocked to hear the news.
"That's right, friend. Molly and I...we decided to formalize our relationship" Gil broke that big news while holding his new girlfriend's hand.
"Oh my gosh! That's great news! I'm happy for you two!" Deema said excitedly.
"Hehe thanks, Deema. After so long, I think it was a good idea to start something new between us" Molly commented. The couple smiled at each other, and blushed a little.
"This is incredible! I always suspected that you two would end up together" Oona added happily.
"Everything will be fine, as long as Gil doesn't do anything stupid" Zooli commented, remembering Gils attitude when he was under the symbiotes influence (of course, they never knew the real reason).
"I've learned my lesson, Zooli" Gil answered nervously.
"Well, let's leave that behind, okay? The important thing is that everything is in order, right?" Molly commented with a smile.
"You're right, Molly" The light blue-haired guppy replied.
"We have to celebrate this! I propose a double date! Molly and Gil! And...Goby and me!" Deema said excitedly, taking young Osborn by the arm.
"Huh?! Since when are we dating?" Goby asked blushed.
"Hehehe it's never too late to try. But you forget to invite me" The blonde guppy asked with a mischievous smile. He blushed a bit.
"Hey, I just wanted to take my time to plan and propose a date" Goby said nervously.
"Well, we can start with this hehe" Deema said funnily.
"You two can come too" Molly invited her other friends.
"Oh, sorry Molly! I can't go...I have "very important" things to attend to tonight. It will be the next time" Zooli had to decline the invitation. It seems that she had to work using her alter ego: Black Cat.
"I...also have things to do. Have fun all of you" Oona said quietly. Evidently, she rejected the invitation because she didn't feel comfortable seeing her friends happy with a partner while she had lost the boy she loved. She still felt pain from it.
"Hmmm I know where we can go. Dad can make us a reservation at La Belle Tour Restaurant" Goby excitedly proposed the idea.
"Wait, you're talking about that restaurant that is located on the top floor of one of the tallest towers in the city...That restaurant is for rich people! I couldn't even pay for the starter" Gil commented.
"Money is the least of the problems. Dad is a V.I.P member. He receives discounts frequently. Come on, I pay for everything" Goby proposed happily.
"It's just too much...I don't know if I could accept it" Gil tried to be modest.
"I insist, friend. You are great friends of mine, you deserve the best. Plus, it's a double date" Goby smiled.
"Come on, Gil. You don't always have the opportunity for Norman Osborn's son to invite us to eat in an elegant place" Molly said with a funny smile.
"Hehehe alright. I hope to get a fancy suit in time" Parker commented funnily. They all giggled a bit.
Evidently, Gil did everything he could to get a formal suit that was within his budget for the double date they had planned. It would be a fun dinner, as both couples would enjoy a pleasant moment. A few days later, the day of the planned double date arrived. Gil managed to get a white shirt with a black vest and black pants. He decided to pick up Molly at her house. She got ready for the night with a beautiful red dress and a little makeup. They both arrived at the entrance of the building holding hands while waiting for their other friends.
"Hmmm I see they are going to be late" Molly commented funnily.
"They will arrive soon. I'm glad you accepted. Goby is a little eccentric, but he is very nice" Gil said. She giggled.
"Well, Deema has been my friend for a long time. I guess a double date with our best friends doesn't sound bad. Do you think the two of them will formalize a relationship?" Molly asked curiously.
"Maybe. Goby has always been interested in her. Despite being rich and popular, he has a hard time talking to her hehehe" Gil joked a bit.
"(giggle) Deema is also interested in him. But...it seems like you and I are already ahead of them" The pink-haired guppy smiled at him. Before they could continue joking about it, the second couple arrived.
"Hi, guys!" Goby arrived in a formal suit with his date Deema, the girl was wearing a blue dress and looked happy "Come on" They entered the building and took the elevator to the top floor, where the elegant restaurant is. They entered without problems and Goby guided them to an exclusive area for them where they would have a good dinner and a beautiful view of the night city.
"I can't believe your father usually eats here" Deema asked surprisedly for the views and the prices.
"Dad is not discreet at all. He goes where he wants no matter how expensive he is. I don't like to take advantage of that, I only do it very little. And well, I like to share certain things with my friends...(sigh) Sometimes it's not so easy to be the son of someone famous and rich" Goby commented.
"I don't think it's that bad. You can have everything you want" Molly answered.
"Yes, just look at this menu! I can see that just one appetizer is worth my weekly pay" Gil added, looking at the menu.
"Well...people always expect a lot from me. They want me to be equal to or better than dad. Plus, Dad is so busy with his business that he barely has any time for me. And especially lately he seems obsessed with work. Besides, being the son of someone rich also has something bad. Sometimes I don't know if people really love me for who I really am or just for the things I have" Goby explained his personal issues.
"Hey Goby. On the day we met I always thought you were someone nice and very cool. I didn't even know you were Norman's son when we became best friends. Personally, you are a great friend and I really appreciate you because you are not like other rich people who are just selfish and conceited" Gil tried to cheer his best friend.
"Gilly is right! If you continue as you are, you will be someone much better than your father" Molly added.
"And you know, Goby? The people who love you...we love you for how good you are...Everything else you have is extra...Well...at least I love you because you are a great boy, serene, very attentive and you care about those you care about" Deema said lovely.
"Thank you Deema...It means a lot to me...Is that some kind of confession?" He raised an eyebrow.
Well...the truth is...Hmmmm, how can I explain it?" Deema said nervously and her face was red. Molly and Gil gave a little laugh when they saw the nervous blonde in front of the boy she liked. Although everything sounded good, Gil stopped laughing and began to feel uncomfortable. His girlfriend noticed him tense.
"Gilly…Are you okay?" She asked curiously. Gil approached her and whispered something in her ear.
"Molly…My spider sense activated. Something's wrong" He whispered to his partner.
"Ohh…It means there is some danger here" She whispered to him. At that moment, the date was abruptly interrupted by something terrifying.
BOOM!
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
A strong explosion destroyed the roof of the restaurant. Making everyone panic. The two couples tried to stay calm until they heard the maniacal laughter. From the hole in the ceiling appeared a mysterious adult guppy in green combat armor with a purple cape and hood. He possessed a green mask that took the shape of a goblin's face with pointy ears and a terrifying grin. He was flying thanks to a technological glider.
"HAHAHAHA DID YOU MISS ME, CITIZENS?" It was him! Green Goblin attacks again!
"It's the flying maniac!" Deema shouted scaredly.
"This is a beautiful night, isn't it? I think the place needs fireworks!" Green Goblin threw some pumpkin bombs to destroy parts of the restaurant, scaring everyone.
"We have to get out of here now" Goby advised. The guppies agreed. Gil needed to leave before everyone to face the Green Goblin as Spider-Guppy. But he needed to know how to do it without anyone else noticing.
"Are you leaving so soon? But the party's just beginning!" Green Goblin appeared in front of them flying on his glider, laughing maniacally. Gil had an idea, but it was risky.
"Hey! Leave them alone!" Gil raised him to attack the villain. He wasn't going to use his abilities, he was just going to attack him like a normal person. The villain easily stopped him by grabbing his neck "Agh!"
"Oh, you want to play the hero, huh? Well die like one!" Green Goblin decided to throw Gil out of the window, causing him to fall several meters high.
"GIL!" Goby and Deema screamed scaredly.
"Gilly!" Molly gasped. The Goblin just laughed like a psychopath. As Gil fell several meters high, he smiled when he saw that his plan worked. He had his web shooters hidden in the sleeves of his suit. He managed to swing from a spider web and quickly hid on another rooftop and decided to take off his fancy suit, revealing that he had the Spider-Guppy suit hidden.
"HAHAHA! Is there anyone else who wants to be a hero?" Green Goblin asked evilly. Nobody said anything nor did they move.
"You better go, Goblin! I don't think you made a reservation at this restaurant" Our hero only arrived at the scene.
"Spider-Guppy!" Everyone shouted with joy.
"What about Gil?!" Goby asked worriedly. Molly took out her phone to pretend that she received a message.
"Gil just texted me. He told me that he was rescued by Spider-Guppy" Molly said convincingly.
"What a relief...And very convenient" Deema said in a relieved manner.
"Just the person I wanted to see! I started to miss you, spider" Green Goblin mocked a bit.
"If you wanted to see me so much, you would have invited me to eat at some restaurant...Although not this way" Spider-Guppy joked a bit.
"Oh Spider-Guppy! We have all night to have fun! It's time for my gift" The villain took out a large pumpkin bomb and placed it in the center of the restaurant and activated it. A 5 minute timer started. That bomb was going to explode soon. People wanted to escape but the exits were blocked "Come on, spider! You will be able to save these poor souls in misfortune!" The villain prepared for a new fight.
Second Round! Spider-Guppy vs. Green Goblin! This battle was more intense and frenetic, because our hero's priority was to get rid of the bomb before defeating the flying madman. But Green Goblin prevented him from getting close to the bombs with his multiple weapons such as pumpkin bombs, flying blades, rockets and bullets from his glider. The deranged guy only wanted to make the hero suffer and prevent him from defusing the bomb to kill the hostages. Spider-Guppy used his agility and webs to dodge the attacks and get to the bomb, but the Green Goblin caught him and hit him with punches and kicks and even hits with the glider. On many occasions, he wanted to kill him with bombs and blades, but he managed to evade the projectiles. The villain in the green and purple suit moved me perfectly, flying across the combat field to stop him at all costs.
"Spider-Guppy won't be able to reach the bomb!" Goby said worriedly.
"We are going to die!" Deema panicked.
"Calm down, guys! We can give Spider-Guppy a hand" Molly said bravely. She approached the other civilians "Listen to me everyone! Spider-Guppy needs to get to the bomb, but that crazy flying guy doesn't want that to happen. We must help him! We just need to distract him so Spider-Guppy can stop the bomb"
"Isn't that very dangerous?" One of them asked nervously.
"Spider-Guppy always puts himself in danger to save us. How many times has he saved us? It's time to return the favor" Molly said determined to help her boy. The diners and restaurant staff nodded and prepared some objects to fight.
"Your time to die has come!" Green Goblin activated a long, deadly blade at the front of his glider. He flew directly towards him to stab the glider's blade into the hero's chest. Spider-Guppy didn't think he could dodge it in time. Just at that moment, a metallic object hit the villain, causing him to lose concentration and swerve, preventing Gil from being impaled.
"Leave Spider-Guppy alone!" Goby yelled before he and everyone else started throwing objects at the villain. From plates and cutlery to chairs, pots and pans
"Ugh!" Green Goblin complained because some of those objects hit him.
"Get away, bully!" Deema joined throwing things.
"I have something for you!"
"Leave Spider-Guppy alone!"
"You don't know that challenging Spider-Guppy is challenging all of New Bubble York!"
"If you mess with him, you mess with everyone!"
"Go away!"
All those screams were coming from the people who started throwing things at the Green Goblin to get him away from Spider-Guppy. Gil took advantage of that opportunity and caught the big bomb with his web and made many turns to throw it into the air before it exploded in the air. Everyone celebrated when they saw that they were now out of the danger of the bomb, although the villain did not like that.
"You think you are very brave, huh? You were saved from the big bomb...But you will not be saved from these!" Green Goblin said annoyingly before preparing two pumpkin bombs to throw at the civilians, but Spider-Guppy arrived in time to knock him down with a kick.
"It's over, Green Goblin! Your plan failed!" Spider-Guppy said seriously.
"On the contrary, spider boy...I have you right where I wanted you...Why don't you take a nap?" The masked villain activated a gas that came out of accessories in his hands. Despite the mask, Gil could breathe it and felt dizzy and sleepy before he fell instantly. It was a sleeping gas.
"Spider-Guppy!" All the civilians shouted worriedly.
"HAHAHA!" The Green Goblin hopped on his glider and grabbed Spider-Guppy in his arms. He had fallen asleep due to the sleeping gas "I'll let them live for now. I already have what I wanted! HAHAHAHA!" Saying this, he flew away with the hero unable to wake up.
Spider-Guppy woke up weakly on a rooftop on a tall building in the city. He noticed that they had gone to a side further away from where they were before. He noticed that a mysterious figure was in front of him.
"Wake up, wake up, little spider! No, you're not dead...yet...I just left you weak and temporarily immobilized" It was Green Goblin. He appeared in an intimidating manner in front of the hero. Spider-Guppy was trying to see him clearly "You are an incredible creature, Spider-Guppy. You and I are not that different"
"We are not the same...You are a murderer…" He said tiredly.
"Well, we all have our flaws, don't we? I chose my path, you decided to be a hero. And they found you amusing for a while, the people of this city. But the one thing they love more than a hero is to see a hero fail, fall, die trying. In spite of everything you've done for them, eventually they will hate you. Why bother?" The Green Goblin tried to change his mind.
"Because…Its the right thing" He said weakly.
"That is your problem. You don't solve problems from the root. You always capture the villains and criminals, but never those who are responsible for creating those monsters. A new order is approaching this city and only I know how to avoid it" The masked villain explained.
"What are you talking about? A new order?" He asked confusedly.
"Crime and villainy are going to face a change. A man capable of doing whatever it takes to completely control the criminal empire...He calls himself...Big Man...He is working in the shadows...He has been responsible for many of the supervillains and no one knows... Only me!" He started to reveal something.
"Did...The Big Man turned you into that?" Spider-Guppy asked surprisedly.
"Maybe yes, maybe no. The Big Man wants to make a reform and only we can stop him. What do you say, spider? Let's join forces and stop that Big Man" He offered him.
"No. I don't trust you. You are a psychopath with no morals. If this Big Man guy is real, I'll stop him my way. You and him will be stopped!" He said bravely.
"That was disappointing. I thought you cared about the lives of the people in this city. Well, I warn you that terrible things are coming. There will be many deaths and the city will be in chaos...Is that what you want? When all that happens, you will remember my words and it will all be your fault, Spider-Guppy! Think about it, hero! HAHAHA!" Green Goblin decided to laugh evilly before leaving the scene using his glider to fly away, leaving Spider-Guppy alone. The boy recovered a little and saw that the villain had escaped. Before doing anything, he heard a noise in his ear. It was the hearing device that he began using to communicate directly with Molly. It seems like she was calling him for a while. He touched his ear to activate the device and respond.
"Hmmm…Molly?" He answered the call.
"Gilly! Are you okay? The Goblin did something to you?" She asked worriedly.
"Im okay, Molly….He didn't hurt me... We just... we talked... I think we need to talk in person and in private" Spider-Guppy said, taking a breath. He was analyzing a lot into what the Green Goblin told him. Who was that Big Man? What relationship does he have with the Green Goblin? What did he mean by the arrival of a new order to control the criminal world? Complex questions without any answers. Our hero definitely needed help. And he wanted to talk about this with the most trusted person in his world.
Shortly after, Spider-Guppy decided to reunite with his companion. He came in through Molly's bedroom window. He arrived with her hero suit on, he simply took off her mask and talked to her, he told her everything the villain told him.
"I see...And do you really believe what he says?" Molly asked him curiously.
"I'm not sure. That guy is deranged, he can't be trusted. But I can't ignore his words either. What if there is something bigger in all this? I once talked to Oona as Spider-Guppy and she told me something important. Nonny suspected that several incidents at Oscorp were not accidents. Like the Electro and Lizard incidents. Oscorp is hiding something big and if what the Green Goblin told me is true, then Big Man is somehow connected to Oscorp...Molly, if my suspicions are true...We are entering dangerous territory. This is a sign of a great conspiracy" Gil explained all this information.
"Wow...following this logic...Many supervillains could have been caused by this Big Man. Like Vulture, Rhino...and even Doctor Octopus, I mean Nonny" Molly said quietly "Gilly, we must investigate Oscorp immediately. They are involved in some way"
"You mean I'm going to investigate. I don't want to involve you in this. If the conspiracy is real, you are entering danger" The blue-haired guppy intervined.
"No, Gil! We will do this together! I'm not going to leave you alone in this" She faced him.
"The last time you messed with someone dangerous, Scorpion almost murdered you! I don't want to put you or my loved ones in danger. Why do you think I kept my secret?" The hero said bothered.
"Look who's talking! The boy who always faces supervillains, criminals and gangsters every day! Your life is always in danger! Today the Green Goblin was going to kill you! Both you and I are exposed to danger!" Molly answered angrily.
"I do not want to lose you!" He shouted at her.
"ME NEITHER!" Molly gasped when she shouted that. They both looked into each other's eyes and only their breathing could be heard. The girl began to have tears in her eyes "I don't want to lose you either" She hugged her boyfriend. Gil comforted her, but he also had tears in his eyes.
"Molly…."
"Gilly….You promised we were going to be a team. I just want to help you...We all need help...even Spider-Guppy needs help" Molly sobbed a bit. They both separated the hug and looked into each other's eyes. They both wiped their eyes.
"I'm sorry, Molly. I still have the habit of keeping everyone safe regardless of my own safety" Gil admitted.
"I know, and it's admirable. But, if it's not me, who has your back?" She smiled at him funnily.
"Hehehe, it feels good to have you as a partner...and as a girlfriend" Gil touched her cheek.
"The pleasure is mine, Gilly. I'm lucky to have you. It's just that I feel like you deserve someone to take care of you. Because you always take care of everyone...I love you"
Saying that, they both brought their faces closer and gave each other a tender kiss on the lips. They both managed to calm their emotions of fear, worry and anxiety with that passionate kiss. They lasted a few minutes in that intimate kiss. Although they both wanted to spend that night together, they didn't want to get into trouble. So, after a while, the boy put on the mask and quietly left her house through the window to return to his own house. Molly watched him from the window with a lover's smile. She enjoyed that moment.
They were both prepared to face what was coming together. It seems there is something bigger coming to town. Somehow, Oscorp, Green Goblin, and Big Man were connected. This began a deep investigation to discover the truth of this alleged conspiracy. There was great risk involved, but Gil Parker/Spider-Guppy and Molly Jane Watson were willing to work together to find out the truth, stop the Big Man's plans, and keep the city safe. Unbeknownst to them, they did not know of the hidden truths that would lie in their investigation. Many of those things will not be very pleasant.
What suspense, huh? It seems like this has gotten more and more complicated. What things are hidden by these three beings: Green Goblin, Big Man and Oscorp? Are they connected? It seems like it's a new mystery to solve. And with this, we reach the middle of this great fanfic. What started as a simple story ended up being more than I appreciated (I have that bad habit in my fanfics XD)

PrimroseRaspberry: I'm very glad that you liked the previous chapter, full of romance with action in between. It looks like we'll continue to see cute moments between Gil Parker/Spider-Guppy and Molly Jane Watson. I can assure you that we will see much more of this couple. However, the hero's work never stops.

Things are about to get from bad to worse. We can see Norman Osborn watching the night sky through the window of the huge building where he lived. He gazed at the view of the city, drinking a glass of still wine in his nightgown until he saw someone behind him.
"We already tried, Norman. Spider-Guppy is predictably good enough that he agreed to join us" Behind him the Green Goblin appeared. Norman was confused, possibly everything was a product of his mind.
"I don't understand! Why did we tell him about the Big Man? This could complicate everything. Now we will have Spider-Guppy as a frequent enemy!" Norman was getting stressed.
"I don't think we should worry about anything. Everything is perfect as we planned. However, believe it or not, I have discovered something interesting. That masked boy...I feel like we've seen him somewhere else" Green Goblin told him.
"What are you insinuating?" Norman asked nervously.
"I can't tell you exactly. But I can assure you one thing: You and I know Spider-Guppy more than we think. Spider-Guppy is not an enemy, he is a friend. The boy under that mask is someone we know! We don't know who he is, but it will be our task to find out. And when we do, we will have a lot of fun!" Green Goblin said evilly.
"Hmmmm anyone I know? Someone we know?" Norman asked himself before he was surprised by someone elses presence.
"Dad? Are you okay?" It was Goby with a sleepy tone, but worried about his dad. Norman saw that the Green Goblin had now disappeared when Goby arrived in the room.
"It-It was nothing, Goby. I...Hmmm well...I received a call at night from...something about the business...but I already resolved it. Son, go back to your bed…" Norman said a bit tense.
"Are you sure you're okay, dad? You didn't even ask how my date with Deema went and..." Goby asked worriedly.
"I said….GO!" Norman ordered in an authoritative and annoying manner. Goby, not wanting to bother him anymore, decided to go to his bed. Norman decided to pour himself another glass of wine and began to drink a lot. It seems that his sanity was slowly slipping away.
"Hmmmm So...I know who the guy under the mask is...I just have to find out who he is...This will be...interesting" Norman said with a macabre smile before breaking the wine glass with just a squeeze of his hand, making his hand start to bleed, but it seems like the billionaire didn't care. Only he looked out the window with a manic smile. His sanity was slipping away little by little.
